Expectations |
|
| Dear Kay,
I am a 16 year old boy and I feel like I am being pressured to live up to my parents expectations of me. My older brother has gone to University and done a degree in medicine, which has made my parents very pleased. I can understand why they are pleased, but I feel like they expect me to do the same thing as him. I don’t know what I want to do when I am older, but what ever I do, I feel that I will always be letting down my parents and I will never please them. What shall I do? (A WORRIED 16 YEAR OLD BOY) |
I know that right now in your
life things are very hectic with your GSCE’s and other commitments. Your
parents will always be pleased with what you chose to do, don’t feel as
though you are being forced into anything, your parents only want the best
for you.
If I were you, then I would think about what subjects you enjoy or that you are good at, then look at college courses or courses at your local Sixth Form. This might encourage you to choose a course. And if you are still worrying about this then talk to your parents or a teacher at school. |
