The site, once part of the Earl of Egerton's estate, was
purchased in 1944 by Rochdale and Heywood Scout Districts. The official opening
was performed by Sir Percy Everitt, then Deputy Chief scout.

The Tuck Shop
Once the
stables, situated in the main farm building, the Tuck Shop is stocked with
ample supplies of sweets, drinks, and special
Ashworth Valley souvenirs.
The shop is manned by Camp Staff, who are happy
to assist you in any way. Camp basics like matches, washing-up liquid, scouring
pads and T-towels are also on sale at the Tuck Shop.
Opening times are displayed in the shop window.
Other times are by arrangement.
The Valley
The Campsite
has immediate access to the wooded Valley below.
Although camping is not
permitted in the Valley itself, the stream and
flood plain are excellent for playing games or
just
relaxing.
By night, the Valley becomes a great setting for
night hikes and adventure games. This is also the
perfect time to see the local wildlife. The camp team will advise on safety in the valley.
All we ask, is that visitors keep the Valley
clean and tidy, for everyone to enjoy.
