"Nuneaton Rotary Walk"  - Sunday 20th April 2008

The Rotary Club of Nuneaton, is again organising a  Sponsored Walk based upon The "Nuneaton Rotary Walk" which  was established in 1996  as a 21 mile circular route around the rural outskirts of Nuneaton  using bridle ways, footpaths, canal towpaths and the occasional minor road. The whole route can be completed in one day by an energetic hiker and easy manageable sections  can be undertaken by the two hour stroller or family group. The route is fully way marked throughout with Rotary Logo signs. The Classic 21 mile route is accredited with the Long Distance Walkers Association.

Our annual Sponsored Walks have raised over £70,000 in pledged sponsorship for a wide range of voluntary bodies and local good causes. The Rotary Club organises the event and provides marshals, rest centres and emergency back up, as well as courtesy transport if needed. There is a choice of two shorter routes of   six or eight miles or a combination of both equaling 11 miles. It is the walker’s choice with all routes starting and finishing at Sandon Park, Weddington. Detailed guides with maps are also available for all the routes for £1.50 including postage.

The 'Rotary' Walk has proved to be an easy and fun way of raising much needed funds for voluntary organisations within our locality. All you have to do is provide the walkers willing to be sponsored on your behalf and get them to walk all or only a part of one of the routes. All we ask is £2 registration fee per walker, which can be paid beforehand or on the day itself at any marshalling station.
