Rotary Walk

The Nuneaton Rotary Walk was established in 1996 as a 21 mile circular route around the rural outskirts of Nuneaton using bridle ways, footpaths, canal towpaths and the occasional minor road. Past Presidents of Nuneaton Rotary Club Bob Bacon and Chris Mountford researched existing footpaths around Nuneaton to create the classic route which has been marked with the unique way-mark sign.

Subsequently two shorter routes have added to compliment the classic route and enable those for whom twenty one miles is a little to far to participate.

These shorter routes of five miles and eight miles, both start from from Sandon Park located at the end of  Shawe Avenue Weddington and return to the starting point.

The walk takes in a variety of scenery mainly farmland and industrial areas as it circles the town that was made famous as the birthplace of George Elliot. The route includes parts of both Warwickshire and Leicestershire.

Nuneaton is well served by railway. The station itself is only 15 min walk from Sandon Park. We are within easy access of the Midlands Motorway System of M6, M69, M40 and M42.

The Walk has been accredited as a National Long Distance Walk and appears on page 146 of the latest edition (7th)of the Long Distance Walker's Handbook ISBN 07136 60961  published by A. C. Black price £12.99.
