PC Tom Mepstead & PCSO Richard Chainey
Our job is to provide a visible, uniformed, patrol presence in order to provide public reassurance and to assist in the prevention and reduction of incidents
of crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour, thus promoting community safety and impacting on the fear of crime.
PCSOs (Police Community Support Officer) are an effective community information and intelligence
resource and will be used in support of Neighbourhood Watch and other local Crime Reduction Initiatives.
PCSOs don't have the full powers of a regular police officer, but they do have some limited enforcement powers, such as:
- To issue Fixed Penalty Notices for dog fouling, littering and cycling on the footpath
- To request the name and address of a person acting in an anti social manner
- To request a person to stop drinking in a designated public area and to surrender open containers of alcohol
- To confiscate alcohol from young persons"
