Picture Book - Hic... Hic... Hiccups!

Published by: The Little Library & Cambridge University Press

Illustrated by Joan Rankin

Baby has hiccups and no one is able to cure them.

The story was the result of a workshop held by READ South Africa to encourage writers to produce tetxs suitable for children learning a second language.   HICHICHICCUPS! is part of a series of ten books originally brought out by The Little Library in eight languages.  It has since been translated into many more languages.

The series won the Asahi Reading Promotion Award at the IBBY International Conference in 1996.  Initiated by IBBY and supported by the Japanese newspaper company Asahi Shimbun, the Award is given annually to a group or institution which, by its outstanding activities, has made a lasting contribution to reading programs for children and young people.

Review from amazon.co.uk
This colourfully illustrated, indigenous story teaches literacy to children aged 5 to 9. As one of the ten award-winning South African stories in the Little Library Reading Kit, Hic Hic Hiccups! humorously explores six different ways to get rid of the hiccups. The full-colour illustrations and exciting, original narrative make each reading, entertaining as well as educational.
