Run ins

The one thing about this club that really sticks in my mind is what a Wan**r the owner was and what an arse licker the club manager was. I think I did a great job in the year I was there and the crowd were great to me. The trouble was that the management listened to the very small minority and not the vast majority and so they sacked me for talking to much? The previous DJ went for selling drugs and I get the push for being over enthusiastic?
They also hounded Martin the rock DJ out of his Friday spot as well and all because a certain other DJ stabbed him in the back.

When Thursdays club took off and we were getting huge crowds they begged me to go back? I did but got a shite unpromoted Tuesday night and It didn't work out which was a shame. Any way to the manger and the fat bastard owner who was the nastiest person I have ever come across the big hand shandy to you both.
I have had my run ins with club management over the years and a lot of it was deserved but I don't bear grudges except in this instant. I will not tolerate bully's who can only manage by reducing their female staff to tears. You know who you are.

Rundown

This Saturday night was situated below a seedy block of flats in Holdenhurst Rd Bournemouth. The Hothouse was indeed boiling hot in the summer, so hot I nearly fainted on the first night there. But in winter you had to DJ in a coat and gloves. Any way I started there back in June 94 just as Brit pop was creeping into our collections ,this was just up my street as crusty and grunge had become very tiresome and Brit pop was very mod influenced and opened up a wide range of music to my audience.

I made loads of friends from Bournemouth like Jamie Reynolds aka DJ Paul Ramon and Little Ken as well as their soon to be famous mate from Minuteman. A big shout also to Sonic and Uma for being so kind and letting me use their spare room.

I ran several coaches down there and they were always packed and these were happy days .Most of the time a convoy would come down from Southampton and If Jamie Biggs and Justin Callaway weren't in attendance I thought something was wrong.

Any way this club really gave me an appetite to succeed and freshened up my outlook on music

Matt

For taking me home in his car every Saturday all the way from Bournemouth and then taking me back again the next day to pick up my car and hardly ever getting any money for fuel I salute you
