Firstly the really important stuff.

This night is not aimed at bread heads and those looking to make loads of cash just for turning up. It is for those starting out and who are in it for the love of the music. I have made The Cellar Bar available to new talent because I want to help. There was nowhere for me when I was starting out so I know how hard it is to get a gig. You can re-cover some of your costs though and full info is below.

Age - Please note that if you or any of your band/DJ crew are not 18 or over then you will not be allowed into the club or to play. Please confirm this with me before booking a gig.

Venue - The Rhino Club, Waterloo Terrace, Southampton. Phone 023 80630171. The club is in a small Road between London Road and Bedford Place.

Time - The club opens at 10.00pm and closes at 2.00am. You can get in from 9.00pm to set up and you should be ready for the 10.00pm opening time.

Playing times
Bands - You can play whenever you like during the opening hours but most bands play after 11.15 pm when the crowd is at its peak.

DJ's - You will be expected to play from 10.00pm to 2.00am. Unless you are supporting a band where you will be playing before and after their set.

Names required - Only those in the band or dj'ing are allowed in the venue before opening time. A full list of names is required and only they will be allowed entry. There is no such thing as a guest list!!
If you have a Pa - engineer / Roadie etc that is ok as long as you let me know in advance.
The odd boy/girlfriend might be ok but again only if named in advance. There are no exceptions!!

Deal - Deal - You will be supplied with at least 150-200 special flyers to give out to your fan base (depending on how many you think you can shift). You can have as many as you like within reason but bare in mind the downstairs bar only holds around 125. These flyers get your crowd in for £2.00 all night, which is a £1.00 discount off the normal £3.00 admission cost. For every one handed in at the door you get 50p. The more tickets that we receive the more you get. If you make an effort I will double up the commission rate if you get 30 plus punters through the door!! So it's 50p per flyer up to 30. £1.00 per flyer over 30.

Please feel free to make up your own flyers to use rather than mine. This must be sorted at time of booking and I will need a proof to check through before you start handing them out

Remember if we only receive 5 flyers you will only get £2.50 and you will not be re booked or recommended to other contacts. On the other hand if we get 30 plus flyers you will get £30.00 pro rata and I'll be singing your praises!!
Please can you supply your full address so that I can send you the flyers. This will also be useful as generally I have to post or deliver your wages the next day as the tills are not cashed until the end of the night and I will be generally be far to inebriated to deal with things like that at 2.00am!?

Equipment
Bands - will need to bring all their own equipment as well as a PA, as there isn't one at the club. A vocal PA is normally enough as the room is quite small. (Don't forget things like extension leads and gaffa tape etc) IF you need crates to hire your speakers up please do not reply on the club having them available.

DJ's - 2 Technics 1200's are supplied along with twin CD players/mixer and full sound system. You just need to supply your records and cd's etc. (If you talk a lot like I do you need to bring your own mike and lead Oh yeh your own headphones are a must!!)

Volume - Please keep the volume to a reasonable level. Our neighbours would love us to be closed down and bands especially can be a lot louder than a DJ. The management reserve the right to shut the electricity supply if levels are not turned down when requested.

Promotion - It is essential that you promote/advertise your gig big time!! Ensure your fan base all get a flyer each or more to pass on and get the flyers in the right shops. I would also very much appreciate any information on yourselves so that I can add this to my posters/flyers and web site etc.
If you want my regulars to come down stairs to watch you make up some flyers advertising yourselves and hand out them upstairs on the night.

I insist you send me a short biog of your band or DJ set up to use on my web site and to promote your gig in the press. I require a photo as well.

Damage - Please note that I will withhold any monies due if you cause damage to any items of equipment/fixtures and fitting owned by the club. You may also be liable to pay for any such damage.

Other gigs - When accepting any booking please ensure that you are not playing locally a week before and after the Rhino gig. Past experience has proved that you get very small turn out if you play two gigs locally in the same week.
I reserve the right to cancell your gig if I find this is the case.

I'll be totally honest so there will be no arse licking or being negative for the sake of it.
I'll try and point out what's good and what can make it better.
