its the best place to finish your night off
By Jason...
Went in last week only to find they charge £3 a pint! For a moment I thought I was in Stringfellows and awaited my free lap dance eagerly, however it didn't happen. It still does its cheap offers on WKD or VK bottles (or whatever chav drink is popular now) but if I wanted to get wrecked on pop I would stay at home and have some vodka in my Ribena. So it tends to fill up a round the 9.30-10.00pm mark while all the classy folk stock up on their cheap alcopops but empties again shortly after. The best time to go would probably be around 11.00ish onwards as that seems to be when it really begins to fill up for the night, but I recommend filling your boots somewhere cheaper like the Red Lion (£1.90 a pint) before spending your hard earned cash here. The one thing I noticed that hadn't changed was that they still have the same god awful DJ that they had 2 years ago who's mixing skills and track listings can only be described as 'school disco'. He does get the odd decent rack in their to throw you off balance but once your tapping your feet to a good dance track he lands a killer blow by following up with YMCA or some other cheesefest. I don't mind a bit of cheese now and then but he still seems to play the same tracks he did back then without any thought of genre continuity This might not bother you after a while though as the ridiculously high volume of the music will scar your eardrums and give your tinnitus for a day or so afterwards. Basically if they lowered the prices, changed the DJ and lowered the volume to under 11 then it would be one of the best places to end your night.
Whew! I feel like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders! Sure beats therapy!
