A Teacher's
Tip
I know that many teachers use our
plays as a basis for tackling many of the challenges in the modern day
curriculum so I must pass on this tip that was given to me by a teacher.
A short period before Venture Productions come to your school just use the
title of our play, without reference to the content for creative writing in
prose and poetry. The children will find it interesting how their work relates
to the play.
Below is a poem written by a 10 year old child from Northern Ireland with the
only stimulus being the title of the play she is about to experience. The poem
was written in class without any teacher assistance and on hearing the title,
" A Pearl of Wisdom".
A Pearl of Wisdom
It glistens bright in the morning sun.
Touch and feel its wisdom crinkle.
Splendour it gives life,
The magic it can provide.
All the wisdom you need
Through its rainbow glances.
The pearl is really a diamond glistening
Combining with wisdom to give strength.
It makes us powerful
Petals fall off roses but never the sheen of a pearl.
When all wisdom is used then everyone will be at one.
At the end - everything will shrivel and die but not the pearl of
wisdom.
