RAINBOW OF LOVE

Characters: Andrew, a 10 year old boy, Mary, his sister, a 17 year old girl

The scene is set at Mary and Andrew's home.

Andrew runs onto the stage with a roll of paper in his hand. He unrolls it

and looks at the drawing carefully. Mary comes up to him from behind and

closes his eyes with her hands.

M -Guess who?

A -Mary! Well, have a look at the drawing I'm taking to the Children's Art

Gallery!

I got it from my Ukrainian pen-pal.

M -Wow! What a beautiful rainbow! It reminds me of a drawing I once got

from my pen-pal...

A -Really? You've never told me about your pen-pal. What country was he

from?

M -From...Ukraine...

A -Oh, no! Unbelievable! Have you ever met him?

M -Yes...that was unforgettable.

A -Please, tell me about it.

M -OK. It happened when I was about your age. One day my teacher brought a

bunch of

drawings made by Ukrainian kids, actors of a children's theatre in Kiev. I

took one with a rainbow in it, and that's how our friendship with Andrew

began.

M -Andrew? Just like me!

M -Yes, though it sounds a bit different in Ukrainian.

A -How exactly?

M -Andrei. We exchanged letters and we always drew rainbows on them. Some

time

later I visited Kiev together with my schoolmates.

A -Oh, how I wish I could visit it, too.

M-You will sure visit it someday and meet your pen-pal.

A-And did you meet Andrew?

M -Sure. That was unforgettable. I have a video of it.

A -Really? Please, Mary, show me the video. I want to see it right away.

M -But we might be late for the art gallery.

A -We still have some time. Please, show me at least something of it.

M -Okay. Let it be and I'll comment on it.

A -Great!

(Mary comes out of the curtain and comments on the "video")

M -When I got to Kiev I saw a rainbow in the sky. And as long as I was

staying

there it was with me all the time.

(Little Mary, about 12 years old and her schoolmates appears on the stage.

They sing a Andrei, of the same age comes up to Mary from behind and closes

her eyes with his hands)

A -Guess who!

M -Andrei!

A -No, Andrew! For you I am Andrew.

M -Oh, hello Andrew!

A -Hi, Maria.

M -Maria?

A -Yes, Mary, You are Maria here.

M -Great! I like it!

A -Can you see the rainbow?

M -Oh, yes! It's just like in your letters.

A -And in yours. You know what? It will never disappear as long as you are

here, dear Maria!!!

M -You are kidding.

A -You'll see it yourself. Where would you like to go first?

M -To St. Andrew's Cathedral, of course.

A -Wonderful choice! Let's go!

(M -And we went to the beautiful St. Andrew's Cathedral and there we listened

to the angelic singing

and there was a rainbow shining all over us.)

(M -Next day we visited Andrei's school saw a nice concert there. And

believe it or not, there was a rainbow above us again.)

(M - On the day before our departure we went to the "Rainbow of

Love" children's theatre. And of course, there was a beautiful rainbow

there.)

"RAINBOW OF LOVE" musical fairy tale

The scene is set in the King's garden

C Dionysia, Sylvia, come here, my sisters!

Dionysia, Sylvia, Where are you, my dears?

S Hello Christina,

C Hello Sylvia,

S What's happened? Is it anything urgent?

D Oh, yes, dear sister! But where's Dyonisia?

C She's tired and sleepy. She's been so busy

Helping everyone. Dyonisia! Dionysia! Come here!

D Oh, I am so sorry for being so slow.

Hello dear sisters,

S Hello!

C Hello!

And now, my sisters, listen to me,

I'm going to tell you about my dream.

I saw a miraculous vision this night.

It filled me with joy and wonder that is still in my heart..

D It sounds interesting, but it's not really urgent, is it?

And walk on it, while seeing the Earth from above.

D It must have been risky to walk on the Rainbow of Love.

S It must have been scary to look down from high above.

C Oh, no, there appeared a heavenly angel, bathed in a white light

That showed me the way to travel in the wonderful rainbow.

We went through all of the beautiful rainbow colours

And heard songs from the marvellous Heavenly flowers

About God 's Kingdom of righteousness, peace,

Joy, love, kindness, goodness and holiness.

I looked down on Earth and saw lots of men suffering

From wars, diseases, fear, grief, poverty and many other things.

Their eyes were still closed to seeing the Rainbow of Love

Their ears were still closed to hearing the songs from above

D I'm trying to help at least those whom I love.

I thought their sufferings couldn't be seen from above.

S It's hard to believe that the flowers could sing!

D Well, don't you forget that it was just a dream!

C Yes, that was a dream, but you know what happened next?

When I woke up? I looked at my hand

And saw three seeds that I had received from the angel

That had given me to remember the Rainbow.

S Oh no, that's incredible!

D I can't believe it! The seeds of the rainbow flowers!

S From the dream...

That's really God's miracle!

C Look, these seeds are for you and this one is for me.

Let's sow them and then we can wait and see

How they grow

S Thank you. But first I have to think it over.

C Okay. And you, Dionysia?

D Thank you. I will sow it later.

(Dionysia and Sylvia leave the stage. Christina sows her seed and leaves the

stage. An angel with a flute appears and plays the flute. There

appear red and orange flowers. They dance and leave the stage. There appears

D What's happened now? You've seen another dream?

C I've sown mine.

I wanted to sow it sometime later, but I didn't.

I was so busy. I forgot where I put it. Anyway.

I don't think that a miracle will happen again.

C Well, I can't understand you. Don't you want to see the rainbow?

D Don't be silly, Christina! It was just in your dream..

S Miracles don't happen here anymore.

C Dear sisters, you are wrong.

Come with me and then you will see yourself

You will see what happened at the place

(They leave the stage. There appears Sylvia. She sows the seed and leaves

the stage. There appears an angel with a flute. He

plays a melody and leaves. There appear green and blue flowers. They dance

and leave the stage. There appear Sylvia and Dionysia )

S Praise the Lord for the wonderful flowers.

But we still miss two rainbow colours.

C I guess we will see the whole rainbow when Dionysia's seed

Is found and sown.

(There appears Dionysia)

D Praise God! I did it!

I've found it in my room today.

I'm going to sow the seed right away.

(The three sisters leave the stage. There appears Dionysia. She sows her

seed and leaves the stage. There appears an angel with

a flute. He plays a melody and leaves. There appear 7 flowers of all rainbow

colours. They dance and leave the stage. There appear 3 sisters with 7 paper

flowers of rainbow colours in their hands. They raise the flowers over their

heads. Inside the flowers there are letters that spell "God loves you".

S Red, orange,

C Yellow, green, blue,

D Indigo, violet...

C+S+D Beautiful rainbow, love undivided.

C Pure and gentle,

S Lasting forever,

D Love never failing,

C Gift from the Heaven.

S+C+D Rainbow of Love. Rainbow of Love.

Wonderful gift from above.

(Rainbow flowers and heavenly angels come up to the stage and stand in front

of the 3 sisters.

(Andrew and his mother come up to the stage).

M -Well, that's all, dear.

A -Fantastic!!! Your trip was really fabulous! And Andrew was such a nice

guy.

M -Yes. Even though some teachers wouldn't have said that.

A -Oh, Mary, dear! Thank you so much! I hope I'll meet my pen-pal as well

some

day. And you know, her name is Maria. Like Andrew called you on the video.

M -Yes, that's the Ukrainian for Mary.

A -Well, are you still pen-palling with him?

M -With Andrei? No, Andrew. Unfortunately not.

A -But why? What happened?

M - You know, once I didn't get an answer to my letter from Andrei I got

offended and decided to write again only when I hear from him. But he was

silent.

A-Why?

M - I don't know. Maybe his letter just hadn't got through. It happens

sometimes. Anyway, I wrote him later, but my letter got back to me because

Andrew had changed his address. Anyway, I hope and pray that he will write

me some day.

A -I hope so. Well, I will never wait too long for another letter from

Maria. And I will write her often.

M -Yes, dear, you should believe that your friend is true to you whatever

happens. Then there will always be a rainbow in your heart And now let's
