DOVER LIFEGUARD CLUB SWIMMERS WIN THE EAST INVICTA CHAMPIONSHIPS
AND START KENT COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIPS

Another good sessions swimming in the last week of the East Invicta Championships, resulted in Dover Lifeguard Club swimmers winning the Ladies/Girls and Men’s/Boys event categories and coming second in the Relay events.
One of the best performances again this week was the Men’s 4x100 Freestyle relay, were the team came first breaking another East Invicta record. The team consisting of Adam Knight, Gareth Steed, Richard Dean and Craig Simmons. Other first places went to Adam Patterson in the 200m Backstroke. Craig Simmons in the 200m Individual Medley, also being 1st Junior in the 50m and 400m Freestyle events and the 400m Individual Medley where he broke an East Invicta record and gained a National Qualifying time. Adam Knight also came 1st in the senior 50m Freestyle and the 400m Freestyle, he also gained an East Invicta record and a National Qualifying time. Sophie Braithwaite was 1st 15/16 yr. old in the 200m Backstroke and 200m Individual Medley and Victoria Bates was 1st 13yr old in the 100m and 200m Backstroke. Kate Mansfield was 1st in the 400freestyle and Kayleigh Stevenson 1st in the 100m Breaststroke. One of the younger team members, Liam Steer gained 1st place in the 100m Butterfly.

As the East Invicta Championships draw to a close, the Kent County Championships begin and as the first weeks results show, Dover has made a good start to the 6 weeks of the championships.

Excellent results from the team with Craig Simmons gaining 1st 16 yr. old placing in the 50m Backstroke, 1st 16yr and Junior placings in the 400m Individual Medley and 1st 16yr and Junior placing in the 200m Butterfly. Gareth Steed, now one of the clubs older team members came 1st in the 100m Individual Medley taking six seconds off his personal best. Mathew Basford was 1st 11 yr. old in the 50m Backstroke and Victoria Bates 1st 13 yr. old in the 400 Individual Medley. The 100m Freestyle saw some good placings for the Dover girls, Kate Mansfield 3rd 15 yr. placing, Katie Whitnall 2nd 16yr. placing and Kayleigh Stevenson 3rd 14 yr. placing. Adam Patterson was 2nd 16 yr. in the 400m Individual Medley and Sophie Braithwaite 2nd 16 yr. and 2nd Junior in the Backstroke Kaira Redman came 3rd 17/18 yr. old in the 400m Individual Medley and Sophie Mitchinson 2nd 16 yr. old in the same event. A good Personal best was achieved by Liam Steer in the 200m Butterfly where he finished 2nd 12 yr. old.
