"Let your light shine before me, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven" Matthew 5:16

Our activities extend far beyond our worship activities. We aim to bring God's message into the wider world and as such open our doors to them. Our building serve as a meeting point for quite a few organisations in the town who value our facilities.

From a youth perspective the uniformed organisations have formed part of our church life for many years, and as well as their own meetings they join us for several parade services during the year.

We also donate funds to various charities and each year we have a Charity of the Year where we support one particular cause for the whole year.

Find here and on the linked pages details of all these activities.

Tea Break

A Teabreak meeting

Are you retired and enjoy meeting new friends over a nice cup of tea? Then you may be interested in coming along to Priestwood Tea Break.

We have been running for the past 25 years and meet at Bracknell Methodist Church every Thursday afternoon. Tea break is an outreach opportunity which gives older people a chance to meet for tea and fellowship. It began with a gathering of about eight people and has quickly grown to a number exceeding forty each week. A warm welcome is given to all

Regular fellowship activities include:

If you are interested in joining us, please come along on a Thursday Afternoon.

Fairtrade

Fairtrade market

As Christians we should be supporting people in the Third World as they seek to achieve a good standard of living without exploitation. The Fair Trade scheme ensures that producers get good prices for their goods and work in suitable conditions. Fairtrade makes a real difference to the lives and futures of real people.

As such Bracknell Methodist Church is committed to serving fairly traded tea, coffee and sugar at all church functions. Alongside this we have a wide range of fairly traded products after our Sunday morning service and are committed to supporting fair fortnight. Our supplies are obtained from Traidcraft.

Charity of the Year

Each year we select a charity that is close to our hearts. For 2008 we have chosen the charity DebRA.

DebRA is the national charity working on behalf of people in the UK with the skin condition Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). It is very rare genetic condition in which the skin and internal body linings blister at the slightest knock or rub, causing painful, open wounds. People with the more severe types of EB also have an exceptionally high risk of developing skin cancers, shortening their lives by approximately 30-40 years. In its most severe form, the condition is fatal in infancy. Statistics show that it is likely to affect 1 in 17,000 live births and it is estimated that there are currently 5,000 people with the condition in the UK. DebRA is the only patient support group and medical research charity in the UK working on behalf of people living with EB and is dedicated to enabling people living with EB to help themselves and each other to maintain the best possible quality of life.

We shall be holding a number of events during the year in connection with our charity and details will be posted on our website in due course.
