Hope 08

Hope 08 is a nationwide initiative with events throughout the year.

Its Vision:
Churches across the United Kingdom are constantly at work serving and communicating with 58 Million residents and many visitors to the United Kingdom. 'Hope' proposes to support this work, by facilitating intensified, united, focused prayer and a year of activities, communicating the Gospel through words and actions, creating a lasting legacy of both physical and spiritual change in the lives of communities and individuals.hope08 (6K)

A whole series of activities will be taking place during the year in the Bracknell area, culminating in a family fun day, Hope in the Park, at South Hill Park on Bank Holiday Saturday August 30th. Full details can be found on the Hope Bracknell website.

On Thursday 1st May we met with other churches in the area for a service at Easthampstead Baptist Church. The service was jointly led by the Baptist church and Bracknell Methodist, and included different prayer zones, of which one was a Taize service. At the service we prayed especially for the Hope 08 events in Bracknell in August.

Wedding at Bracknell Methodist

Wedding Guests outside the church

There was much excitement on Sat 10th November as the chuch celebrated its first wedding for several years. Mike and Liz Bush, members for over 25 years, were delighted to invite Mr. & Mrs. Philip Brooks, families and friends to the wedding of their daughter Caroline and Dr. Matthew Brooks. Caroline was just two when she moved to Bracknell and many members of the congregation had watched her grow up into a beautiful young woman, now living and working in Bath. Brother Andrew had also grown up here and was on hand as the official photographer for the afternoon.

The weather was kind and the service led by Revd. Libby Godden with help from Revd. Richard Barley, a friend to many in the church, went off with barely a hitch. Tea and cake was served for the congregation before the happy couple were whisked away to the nearby Brownlow Hall for reception and evening disco. The honeymoon was taken in Costa Rica before the happy couple settled down to married life in Bath.
