Praying Hands
"Cast you burden on the Lord and he shall sustain you" (Psalm 55:22)

Prayer is a most important part of our fellowship with the Lord. Find here some ideas for that quiet time with God and an opportunity to send us your prayer requests.

Our church has a monthly Prayer meeting, Together in Prayer, and a fortnightly prayer group. Details of these can be found on our Fellowship page.

Prayer of the Month

In the beginning, Lord I was alone
Like the earth before your Spirit moved over the waters.
I was formless and empty
and darkness filled the depths of my heart.
Then, it was as if you declared
'Let there be Light'
and out of the darkness
I began to see hope
like a shimmering ray of love
breaking through the parting clouds
at the conclusion of the night.

In the beginning, Lord I was alone
but when I saw you in the light I was no longer afraid.
You held out your hand
and though I had a choice
I had no choice
because to refuse
was to embrace again the darkness.

In the beginning, Lord I was alone
Now I feel again a part of your creation
loved, wanted, needed, family.
In the light of your presence
I hold out my heart that others
might glimpse through it your reflection
and be drawn from the darkness that I once embraced
into the light of your sunrise
the brightness of your face

Ideas for Prayers

Many people find prayer hard. Pray without Ceasing was an initiative set up by the Methodist Church in 2005 and continues to be a resource where you will find many suggestions for prayers in Church and in your day to day life, together with links to other resources.

A Word in Our Time is a daily bible study linked to the Methodist Prayer Handbook and offers commentary, explanations and questions on the day's prayer. You can either read it on their website or download a podcast for listening to on your computer or MP3 player. Visit their website to find out more.

Post your Prayer Requests

If you, or someone you know, are in need of prayer, we will be glad to help.
