Cobblers! It's the DAFTS matchball sponsorship

Lance and his lucky cat

Your first DAFTS badge is always a special moment DAFTS enjoyed an executive box for the Northampton match on Easter Saturday 2006. Despite Lance bringing his lucky cat, and lucky hat, and most of us looking a lot smarter than we usually do on match days, we lost 1-0.

DAFTS sponsored the match ball. We'd like to thank all at the club for their hospitality, which was much appreciated. The match itself saw the visitors enjoy the best chances but there was little in it and a draw wouldn't have been an unfair result. Still, results went out way and the play-offs are still possible.

Damned fish-eye lenses

Simon sponsored

DAFTS have played a part in fund-raising and sponsorship over recent years. And for the 2005/2006 season, this website sponsored the away kit of new striker Simon Johnson.

The former Leeds youngster was immediately paired with another ex-Elland Road front man, Clyde Winjhard, although there is plenty of competition for places this season.

Last season's choice for kit sponsorship was Neil Wainwright. Let's hope he doesn't follow the footsteps of previous sponsored players - Chris Hughes and Adam Rundle, who have both left the club!

One to watch...

ANTHONY PEACOCK has emerged as a player to watch in 2005-2006, after earning a contract in the Summer.

The former Boro youngster is neat and confident on the ball, and has already been christened the "new Convery" due to his diminutive size.

Joey again for VQs!

The Virtual Quakers again sponsored Joey Hutchinson's kit for 2005/2006 (pictured above), the third season running.

Joey follows on from Ashley Nicholls and striker Barry Conlon's shirts in previous seasons.

Lance Ireland receives the shirt on behalf of VQs from Joey HutchinsonHutchinson joined on the eve of the start of the 2003-2004 season and was the only real bright spot on his debut in the 4-1 defeat at Hull. The 21-year-old defender, freed by Birmingham City, is composed on the ball and a very capable defender. Unfortunately, it suffered a knee ligament injury early on in the 2004/2005 season and missed the whole campaign, while a recurrence of the injury also badly affected the following season.

More sponsorship for DAFTS members!

DAFTS is also hoping to sponsoring the away shirt of a second player early in the season.

Iain Swalwell of DAFTS and Ryan Valentine, our other sponsored player

It will be a similar principle to last season's effort, which saw Ryan Valentine's shirt sponsored. Neil found 49 DAFTS (or mutliples of 49) to contribute £5 each towards the cost . The "winner" was picked out lottery-style - a draw from among the Lotto numbers drawn by Camelot on the night on September 4, with Iain Swalwell the winner. He received a signed shirt of his chosen player. The odd surplus raised went to DAFTS' good causes.
