"Without the fans the game is nothing. What would be the point?...That passion, that commitment, that devotion. It cannot be bought and it certainly should not be cashed in. It needs to be rewarded, invested in and nurtured. For me that's what Supporters' Direct is all about." SIR ALEX FERGUSON
SUPERCASH LOTTERY
Jackpot £500 JACKPOT NUMBERS: H871 04-16-17-26 £10 and £5 consolation prize winners to be notified directly. Licensed with the GAMBLING COMMISSION (www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk)
Under Part 5 of the Gambling Act 2005
Registration No: 000 - 005229 - C - 001 - NSDA
The lottery is operated on behalf of the trust by the National Sports
Development Association, with our lottery grouped with other local sports
lotteries. It also operates successful lotteries involving rugby league
and local football clubs, aimed at raising money.
It will offer a daily top prize of £100, a weekly prize
of £500 and also a monthly draw prize, on top of
other smaller prizes.
Players will be given a card with 10 numbers on, when
they join. But as well as having a chance to win, you
have the certainty of helping good causes.
Two of the main areas in which the trust has been
gradually fostering positive relationships with the club
are the Football in the Community and Youth
Development schemes.
This dovetails perfectly with some of the key objectives
of the Trust, namely helping to promote links with the
community and supporting the long term success of the
club.
On this basis, it was not a difficult decision - indeed, it
was a positive and calculated one - to nominate these
two schemes to be the recipients of all of the proceeds
received by the Trust from the Lottery Scheme.
The local community is and always will be the primary
source of future generations of supporters; the nurturing of young talent will always be a vital source of future players. Who knows - the next Robbie Blake or Sean Gregan?

Trust sponsors bus By Tony Taylor, Darlington Supporters' Trust chairman
Many of our members (and indeed, a number of non-Trust members) have actively
supported our monthly lottery project to raise funds for both Youth Development
and Football in the Community.
I am delighted to be able to announce that we have handed over £500 to Darlington Football Club's youth development programme and a further £500 to Football in the Community.
I know that this was gratefully received by both parties and we look forward to further donations from the lottery scheme. A big thank you to all of you who contribute so generously (and well done to those of you who've won some of the weekly cash prizes.
If you would like to join in, please email
us or write to us (Darlington Supporters Trust, PO Box 178, Northallerton,
DL7 7AG) and we will send the forms to you.
The Trust is firmly committed to Football in the Community and we have also
agreed to recommence our sponsorship of the FiTC minibus and I know that Kev
Stonehouse is delighted at our involvement. We are working closely with him
on raising funds for FiTC and hope to be able to announce some exciting schemes
for our junior Trust members over the coming months Junior membership at just
£1 is a small amount to pay and we know that the FiTC will be offering significant
discounts to Trust junior members. Again, membership forms can be downloaded
here or write to us at the above address.
The sponsorship follows the
trust's involvement in the 2004-2005 season.
Kevin said at the time: "We are extremely pleased to link up with the
Supporters' Trust once more. The minibus is a vital tool in our work,
allowing us to carry coaches and equipment to schools all over the area.
"We also use it for the kids' match-day experiences at Darlington Football
Club."
Darlington Supporters' Trust and Football
in the Community organised a charity match, to help raise money towards setting
up a powerchair football team for Darlington.
A Darlo old stars' team - led by Craig Liddle and Kevan Smith - travelled
to Northallerton Town to play the home team's XI on Sunday 31st July 2005.
Several hundred pounds was raised for this good cause, promoted by the
Trust and Football In The Community.
Ross Diamond
played for the ex-pros in the second half to help out up front. The only downer
was Dave Goodchild seemed to pick up an injury, hopefully not too serious.
Mark Riley and Paul Burton both played the second half with Riley scoring
on full time being one of the hig lights off the day for the Northallerton
fans.
Teams (Northallerton first): 1 Sam Dobbs - Andy Scullion/David Robinson

Craig Liddle was more than willing to give up his time to assist. Paul,
vice chair of the trust, commented:"That to me sums the guy up - when
I approached him to help he didn't hesitate".
"To me its fantastic when ex-pros give their time to worth while causes,
and the setting up of a powerchair football team in Darlington is indeed
a worthwhile cause".
You can still buy a limited edition signed print of Darlington FC, in aid of Trust funds The Mayor of Darlington has one, so
has ex-Darlo manager David Hodgson - they're one of the limited edition
prints of Darlington Football Club for the town - which boosted the fund-raising
towards the Trust Crisis Fund in 2004. Councillor Ron Lewis was presented with one of the 150 limited edition prints of Darlo We Care from artist Maaike Draper-Albers. It will now be part of the council's art collection. Maaike was at the all-star game in aid of the club at the Reynolds Arena back in January 2004, which attracted a record crowd for the stadium of 14,200. Professional artist and football fan Maaike says she was so impressed with the efforts of fans and players, it led to her painting Darlo We Care Prints of the painting, limited to 150, cost£100 (£125 framed) in aid of Darlington Supporters' Trust's Crisis Fund. Maaike, who moved to the town from her native Holland in the late 1980s, has also loaned the original of the painting to the club to go on public display at the stadium. It was presented to a delighted Darlo manager David Hodgson, in the presence of the Trust, on Friday at the Reynolds Arena. Her work, known for its bold and vibrant use of colour, has been exhibited across the North East and paintings have been sold all over Europe. "I've always been a football fan and it has been a great pleasure for me to be allowed to portray football in Darlington," she said. "We're sure there are fans out there who will want to buy a special memento, one which will help the fund - and one which could prove to be valuable in years to come!" * Individually signed and numbered prints are available to buy via the Trust, costing £100 each (unframed), £125 (framed), limited to just 150. These can be ordered by contacting - darlo@hotmail.com, or write to Trust Art, c/o 50 Newlands Road, Darlington DL3, making cheques available to "Darlington Supporters' Trust."
