Family moved to Petts Wood in 1967
Attended Crofton Junior School 1972 to 1976
Then Darrick Wood Secondary School 1976 to 1981

BT established an LGBT employee network in 2001 called Kaleidoscope, I became the London region rep in 2002
My first car a Ford Capri Passed my Driving test in 1983, my first car was a Ford Capri, which I had for 4 years
Henry Henry Brought my Landrover in 1988 (named Henry) which I'm still driving
Watts farm lorry I went on to pass my HGV class one on 5th August 1993, and had a part time job Driving for Watts Farms in Orpington
Picket line duty February 1987 Have been a trade union activist for the CWU (Communication Workers Union) since I stated employment in 1981, I was elected to the union's national LGBT advisory committee in October 1999

In 1987 we were locked out by BT and spent three weeks on strike, at the age of 22 without any financial responsibilities it was an enjoyable few weeks off work 

At the age of 34 i decided I'd had enough of being in the closet. coming OUT is not an easy thing, but I had full support of friends and colleagues, my union even published a story about it to 230,000 members. Full story

[London Pride July 2000] [Yes I'm gay] Went to my first London Pride in July 2000 with union colleague Alan, and YES we're OUT
[Brighton August Pride 2001] [Brighton Pride August 2001] Unlike London pride, Brighton pride is FREE and far more fun, the party in Preston park has a fantastic atmosphere, this is me in August 2001
Cannon Street train crash 8th January 1991 Martin Strivens (8th October 1966 to 8th January 1991) A day in my life that changed things forever was the death of my brother Martin in the Cannon Street train crash on 8th January 1991

Jacob Martin Strivens (Born 9th july 2006) Callum John Strivens (Born 12th February 2006) On the 9th July 2004 I became an Uncle with the birth of my first Nephew "Jacob Martin" Two years later on 12th February 2006 "Calum John" was born. "OK so i got the same shirt on"
Of all the places I've traveled to for my holidays, I've become hooked on Gran Canaira, Chris and I find it a great place to escape the English winters for a few weeks in the sun.
