A Profile of Anne & Les Dymond

Anne and Les Dymond have known each other since they were eleven years old and have been married for forty two years. They have three children and seven grandchildren of whom they are very proud and a wide circle of friends throughout Britain, Europe, Canada, USA, the Caribbean and Kenya.

For six years they were successful resident hotel managers in Bath. After a year at the Bath Tasburgh Hotel and spells of relief management at Parkside Guest House, Bath and the Old Manor Hotel, Trowbridge, they joined Alison Williams as Resident Managers of the Villa Magdala Hotel, Bath, soon after her acquisition in March 1994.

Anne & Les were employed on a Management Contract basis and employed all of the staff until Alison and her husband sold the hotel in March 1999.

The Bath Tasburgh, the Old Manor and the Villa Magdala all enjoy accreditation by the ETB - "Highly Commended" and AA - "QQQQQ Selected".

Villa Magdala - an 18 bedroom hotel - became very successful and is now considered by many to be amongst the finest bed & breakfast accommodation in Bath.

Since the first year revenue more than doubled, much of which was generated as a direct result of returning previous guests, referrals and the positive marketing policies adopted.

Les Dymond actively promoted the hotel using the world wide web and e-mail extensively. Over 30% of enquiries found Villa Magdala on the Internet. He was the originator, designer and publisher of the very successful internet web site for the hotel.

The Dymonds enjoyed their role as Resident Managers as personal hosts to guests in the hotel, attending to the sales & marketing of the business, housekeeping, maintenance of the house &  grounds, stock control and purchasing.

An important facet of their hospitality "style", they took great pleasure advising their guests how to get the best out of their stay in Bath, booking theatre & concert tickets and making taxi and restaurant table reservations.

For overseas visitors they gave advice on how to travel in Great Britain, designed itineraries and made onward accommodation reservations.

Anne's original training was in Hotel Management subsequently raising their family - now married and in their thirties -  of two sons and a daughter. They hosted guests in their home from all over the world attending Language Training Services in Bath.

In 1989 Anne successfully completed a course - "Setting up your own Catering Business" - at The Bath College of Higher Education.

Of Les Dymond's 35 year construction career, he served twenty at Board level in major companies.

He successfully led teams undertaking all forms of building works, notably high quality restoration projects for the Royal Crescent Hotel and Priory Hotel - both in Bath - Hunstrete House Hotel, Leigh Park Hotel, Bradford on Avon, and Kingston Lacy House, Dorset for The National Trust.

In 1989/1990 the Dymond's "field tested" a business concept in California advising visitors to Great Britain, preparing detailed personal itineraries including the recommendation and booking of hotel accommodation, restaurants, cities, places and events using their custom designed computer database HOLIDAT (C).

They have always enjoyed travel in Great Britain, Europe the Caribbean, East Africa, USA and Canada.

Leslie through his business travel in southern England and Anne with her foreign guests, have developed a great knowledge and appreciation of Great  Britain.
