Kenya 2004

In February/March 2004 we returned to Kenya for our fourth visit for
A Great Holiday!

To the right as you can see the elephants
at Mwaluganje were waiting to greet us!

Southern Palms Hotel was superb - our room is on the first floor in the block behind Anne in this photo.
The Hotel's pools were the most wonderful we have ever seen and were an
absolute pleasure to use.

The Dining Locations were excellent
as you can see, although the food itself
was average without being to the remaining overall standards of this excellent 4* hotel and its staff.
There were some lovely other residents at
Southern Palms!

Two of whom - Alex & Fiona - were on their Honeymoon. It was a pleasure to share their company.

We made our third visit to
The Mwaluganje Elephant Sanctuary.

It was an absolute pleasure to once again have Patrick Thoya as our excellent Driver, Guide and Host.

This is the view from within our tent
at The Lodge at Mwaluganje
- as you can see it is extremely comfortable with a superb outlook
which can be seen in the next photo.
Our handsome neighbours
take their early morning dip.

Heaven's Gate.
One of many of our feathered friends
in The Mwaluganje Elephant Sanctuary.

This fellow was extremely protective
of his family of thirteen who passed in front of us before we could
get our cameras focussed!
At The Mwaluganje Lodge,
Anne was made a leader for the day of the visiting Masai traders who entertained
us in the evening.

Slightly amorous Warthogs - known locally as The Kenyan Express!
We again visited The Nature Trail at Ngonzini School in the company of a large number of the children and their teacher Salim Said Mwamasumbi and are photographed here alongside The Emelia Daisy Tree.

With Patrick, Salim we say goodbye to
the lovely children - until next time!
With Alex, Fiona we enjoyed an excellent Indian dinner at Tiwi Beach Hotel
where we have stayed on our
previous three visits.

Anne is here showing the Restaurant Manager Charles Mmumba
the great ebony carving of the
Smile Kenya logo
that was drawn by Salim.
