SAXLINGHAM-THORPE, a parish and village, 7½ miles S. of Norwich, has 37 houses, 148 souls, and 449a. 3r. 31p of land. The Rev. J. H. Steward is lord of the manor, but part of the land is the property of Robt. Fellowes, Esq. The Church, dedicated to St. Mary, is an ivy clad picturesque ruin, being dilapidated long before 1740. when the rectory, valued in the King's book at £6 13s. 4d., was consolidated with that of Saxlingham-Nethergate. The Baptists have a small chapel here.
