So You Wannabe An Extra!

Lots of people want to be extras in movies, and many get ripped off in trying.
The casting of "Supporting Artistes" is normally carried out by specialist agencies
on behalf of the production company's needs. Established agents rarely advertise unless
they are looking for new people or certain types for a particular requirement.
Be aware of advertisers who with the demand for an up-front fee will guarantee you
future employment as a Film Extra/Supporting Artiste, before signing up with this type of agency
enquire who they provide "Supporting Artistes" for, and ask to see the directory
or website you will be included in, and what it is going to cost you.
It is not uncommon practice with reputable and established agents to require you
to contribute a reasonable annual fee towards administration and inclusion in the agents
casting directory or website to register you, this fee may be deducted from your first engagement.
