Re. the KHV outbreak at 'Long Island Lake'. CEFAS have also placed a 'Designated Order' (DO) on our site because we are so close, even though there has not been an outbreak on our site. Our lakes can still be fished but extreme care needs to be taken with nets, reels weigh slings and unhooking mats etc. CEFAS insist that you carefully use our net dips before and after your fishing session. These dips are near the new building on Virginia, in the B-B-Q area of Willow Walk lake and in the second swim down from the first gate on Coot Lake. Also please wash your gear once you get home and leave any piece of equipment outside to thoroughly dry in the sun, before using it again
Please make sure these net dips are used by all our members and everyone washes off the diluted chemical solution in the freshwater bins provided. Also please quickly report any significant changes to us in the condition of our carp.

************Important notice************
It is clear that anglers piling in the bait are catching well at the moment. So the few anglers reluctant to bait up, who are'nt catching, may possibly see where they are presently going wrong. Heavy ground baiting does not have to cost a fortune. In addition, a good way of maximising your bait is to fire out only 4-5 boilies periodically. This will avoid your freebies fattening up the seagulls rather than drawing the fish into your swim and holding them there. We wish everyone tight lines.
T
As well as lots of much bigger fish there have been lots of attractive stockies coming out, which unfortunately seem to upset some anglers (even though they fight really well for their size) but remember a stockie of today is a potential 30 or 40 of the future!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!On the question of stockies, one or two are coming out already with mouth damage. Needless to say this concerns me as I've invested a great deal of time , money and effort into these beautiful little fish, for the long term benefit of the site and the members. They are very distinctive in one particular way, which makes it very easy for them to be identified. When playing these delicate little fish, or for that matter any fish, please exercise great care and make sure all captures are handled and returned carefully and quickly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you are planning a session on Virginia or on Willow don't forget to mix up at least a couple of buckets of ground bait, which needn't cost the earth if you use CSL type sheep pellets, hemp, bread flake, chopped worms, some maggots, a catering tin of sweetcorn as well as a kilo of fresh broken boilies and quantities of carp pellets. If you can scrounge some left over cakes/ bread from a friend who works in catering, or who supplies functions etc, it will all go into the groundbait mix to help you catch those bigger fish. Believe you me there are some superb 20s and 30s to be caught.

Coot Lake is really switching on, if you are able to find the right swims, introduce sufficient bait and fish it appropriately. Try big method feeders.
Earith Carp Lakes is just north of the village of Earith in Cambridgeshire (near to the A1123) and fishery prices for our annual tickets, which give you a full 12 months, are on our web site (www.earith- carp-lakes.co.uk)Other than annual tickets, there are no day tickets, just a few guest tickets but you have to be booked in beforehand as a fishing guest, by a current member phoning me. A member doing this can only book a guest in on the understanding they will be there fishing with their guest.
If anyone is interested in joining for a 12 month period you can contact me Pat Jones on 07761430034 or Ian Jones on 07759199256 or by email at earithcarplakes@btinternet.com I look forward to prospective new members contacting me. Please do not withhold your telephone number when ringing me, as I do not answer these calls, due to the odd crank call in the past. At certain times we have vacancies but you may choose to have your name on our waiting list for a place in the future. Anyway, you are only a phone call away from speaking to me and arranging to come down and meet me at the site. You can see our site has produced good fish throughout the spring and early summer of 2009. It should continue to produce good specimens throughout the rest of 2009.
All current members and those about to join need to read this:
I would like all members to appreciate that to keep a current membership running, as it comes to a close, you must renew your membership before it runs out. This means allowing a week for a cheque to clear. I'm finding a few members let their membership lapse and still think they can pay late and continue their membership (saving £50) as if it hadn't lapsed. The idea that lapsed ex members can do this will no longer be the case and any member allowing their membership to lapse will find that their ticket will be re-allocated to a new member. Also in future I will give one reminder of a membership coming to a close and then it is the responsibility of that member to ensure that they pay for their next year's ticket before their membership has run out, if they wish to rejoin and save themselves £50. On not hearing from any member I've texted I'll assume they are leaving the fishery once their membership has expired. In addition, it is no good claiming your mobile number has changed, when you haven't informed me of this number change, as like other people on the fishery I'm not clairvoyant. I'm quite happy for lapsed members to rejoin late, if there is a place for them but they have to appreciate they will have to pay the new member rate. As a result of the 'Credit Crunch', I find, as someone running a fishery, all bills have to be paid straight away, as soon as materials are delivered to the site. Also as members are aware we are spending a great deal of money on a new fishery building for the benefit of all members. All I can do is to apologise for the above paragraph but I'm sure everyone will appreciate it is important to run the finances of our business efficiently during this difficult period of world economic recession. In terms of those of you interested in joining, the economic down turn has worked in your favour in some respects, in so far, for instance, that some members are getting loads of overtime at work and feel they haven't got enough time free to justify re-joining.
However, please don't go away with the idea we have loads of tickets available. Mostly we are full, however, the situation is forever changing as memberships are continually coming up for renewal throughout the year, so don't hang about if you are after a ticket.
Extra site information:
If you are prepared to join a work party please contact Glen Cooper on mob. 07887 618 832 or Ian Jones 07759199256 or Pat Jones 07761430034. If you can help, let Glen or one of us have the date or dates which are convenient for you in 2009.
N.B.
The Willow Walk fibreglass boats, which members use for unsnagging fish are being taken for use and are not being returned to the disabled swim. I caugh four children in 2008 (non- members) launching the brown boat into the back channel. They were sent off by me, with a flea in their ear but after I'd gone they were back to play in this boat once again. Members who are not returning boats to the 'disabled swim' are IRRESPONSIBLE in my opinion, as it won't be long before a youngster is drowned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also:- Please wash your nets, weigh slings, reel spools and unhooking mats and dry them thoroughly before coming to fish at our site or any site for that matter. Furthermore, it is everyones' responsibility to pick up every piece of litter and rubbish they come across on the site, including tea bags and cigarette butts. Any litter you find should be taken home and disposed of. Obviously if no one leaves litter this will help to keep the environment of our site clean and tidy and everyone will benefit.
