BRIGHTLINGSEA JULY 1-2 2006

BRILLIANT WEEKEND !!!!!

SATURDAY

The fleet consisted of …
THAT ONE OVER THERE.... with Terry, Dale, Fadia, and Reg.
APOTHECARY………………. with Christine and John
……………………… ……….... with Paul, John and Jim.
DEMELZA……………………..with Meryl and Dick.

The 4 Boats set sail at low tide from B-Sea sailing club. Steady SE 2-3 and so
more or less a run to West Mersea – too muddy to land at the pontoon so back down
the Besom Fleet a bit to nearby beach for lunch. Boats sat happily at anchor so
some of us walked off for an ice cream….

Beat back in fickle winds – fretting from 4 onwards as England’s Q4 final had started.
Slightly delayed while Terry tried to retrieve a dead dog from the water - his supper on the BBQ !!
however turned out to be a seaweed covered bouy !!

Back in club house to watch 2nd half of game…… enough said !!!!
Campsite for BBQ chez Terry and Dale – all exhausted from so much hot fresh air. and sun.
Steve and Collen joined us as well.

SUNDAY
4 boats again set off this time for Clacton in a SE 3 super steady wind –
brill sailing but wind right on the nose so decided to beach at Lee over Sands
only to be informed by a friendly fisherman that we were not allowed on this beach
as it is a nature reserve – so sailed another half mile and beached again -
but felt a bit overdressed as this one was another sort of nature reserve!!!!
Lunched pretending not to look at the poseurs.

A chaotic departure as the crew must have been distracted !! 2 stuck centre boards
and a run away boat!! - wonderful run back watching Sunday racing and Thames barges,
quick stop at Mesea Stone beach en route for Apothecary and Demelza as the crews fancied a swim..

Home to club
A great weekends sailing with very steady winds, lots of sunshine, and amazing
hospitality from BSC.
