EMDG Chairman's ReportWe welcome reports, photos or comments on any of our meetings. Please email to East Midlands Dowsing Group.
A report on first half year's activities for 2005. Commencing with our January meeting and the AGM, we continue to meet at Bramcote each second Friday, at 7.30 pm. Our first speaker, in February, was Gordon the Frog, a shaman. Without easily explaining why, many of us were enthralled by his talk. In March, the non-arrival of a speaker led to a "round circle" discussion by the many members and guests present on the very varied usages and methods of usage of dowsing. The broad spread of applications surprised and informed many. In April, the chairman of the Greaseley "Lost Village Project" gave a talk on the research being carried out to locate the site of the village within the present parish of the same name. Over this period, a number of visits to the area have been made to dowse for the long lost village. Our May speaker was Wendy Edwards-lmlach; she spoke on "The Role of the Healer". Several members employ dowsing in alternative therapies and a lively question and answer session resulted. Mick Lawler made a very welcome return in June to talk on "Crystals". Unusually, he started with the scientific aspect of the use of crystals in modern technology before entering the realm of crystal therapy. The speaker in July is Kathy Grindley and her subject is "Spiritual Healing". Site visits thus far in the year commenced with two Greaseley parish dowsing exercises. On the Sunday following our May meeting the venue was Arbor Low. This neolithic site always exerts a strong attraction for our members. The most recent site visited was the Old Vicarage, on the Newstead Abbey estate. Below-ground eighteenth century water systems, older archaeology and surprising and unexpected energy, presences contributed to a quite unique and, in some cases, threshold-crossing experience.
