Arbor Low is a stone henge on the high limestone plateau of the White
Peak and some two miles west of Youlgreave. The day was hot;
far-reaching views of hills and moors encapsulated the early Bronze
Age monument. Eight members made the journey.
Little is known
about the reasons behind the building of the henge with its encircling
ditch and bank and dowsers had free rein to follow their own
particular interests.
Various aspects of the henge were dowsed on several different levels,
from purely archaeological: when was it built, through Earth Energies,
ley lines and other energies, the spiritual, both of the place as we see it,
and of the past.
Those so inclined dowsed for spiritual presence and remanence of the
distant history of the site.
Several visitors to the monument showed a keen and active interest in the
practical applications of dowsing by our group members. As frequently the case,
dowsing for other than water is entirely unknown to many people.
Our visit was greatly enjoyed and if individual findings didn't entirely
correspond with each other, we departed in the early afternoon with much to
occupy our thoughts.
