The Edward Barnsley Workshop is a furniture workshop of the highest quality, producing a wide range of individually designed and made furniture using carefully selected timbers for domestic, company, ecclesiastical or university use.

Each piece of furniture is individually designed and made to the highest quality. The Workshop has a wide choice of timber available with a choice of about 60 different woods. All timber is purchased from managed forests.

The Edward Barnsley Educational Trust trains apprentices in the art of fine furniture making.

The Workshop and Trust rely heavily on the commisioning of fine furniture to maintain its ability to continue to train future generations of expert furniture makers. It is a registered charity, and is supported in part by many grant giving bodies.

The workshop was established by Edward Barnsley (pictured below in his design office) in 1923. Edward Barnsley was an advocate of the Arts and Crafts tradition, following on from his father Sidney Barnsley, his uncle Ernest Barnsley and of course Ernest Gimson. The Workshop has been at the forefront of furniture design throughout this century.
