Mission Statement

(Registered Charity No.1034660, founded in 1993 and is privately funded)

A charity committed to promoting the cutting edge of Edward Marshallcontemporary craft and design.

Edward was a designer/maker who in 1992 was killed in a motorcycle accident only weeks after gaining his MA in Furniture Design from the Royal College of Art. He was aged 24 years. His family and ex-students from the Royal College of Art founded the trust in his memory.

The Trust's broad aims are to sponsor progressive ideas and action in the fields of design, design philosophy, craftsmanship and the creation and production of useable objects, the qualities of which will help to redefine and invigorate our common culture. The Trust seeks to encourage intellectual vitality which expresses itself without the label "art for art's sake".
