- Unlike conventional electro surgery units this does not require the return plate electrode and this gives enormous improvements in safety. The danger of plate burns is eliminated and reduced power can be used for the same effect. It is able to perform all types of surgery including cutting and coagulating whereas conventional bipolar machines (that do not use a return electrode) are only suitable for coagulating.
