On leaving the Service in 1992 he studied Spanish and German at the Chichester College of Arts, Science and Technology. From 1994 to 1998 he studied for a BA (Hons) degree in Applied Languages at the School of Languages and Area Studies, Portsmouth University specialising in German, Spanish and Linguistics. During the academic year 1996/97 he spent his University year abroad improving his languages, studying in both the University of Granada. Spain and Marburg University, Hessen, Germany. Other subjects studied during his time in Portsmouth were: Computer Assisted Translation, Specialised Translation and Teaching English as a Foreign Language to Adults. He is now working as a Casual Supply teacher in German and Spanish and assisting in the Special Needs section of his local secondary school.
