Black Lab. 14yrs old on 14th Nov 02
Hello again Tess, I have been a fan of your web site for a couple of years now and I am proud to have been on it twice before. My mom and dad love me to bits too. They worry about my age and how much I have slowed down. I just try to show them everything is fine and to keep the food coming!! They think the secret to keeping beautiful at my age is plenty of gentle exercise and healthy snax (i agree!!). I especially love the seaside sniffs,(see my picture). One day you will get slower and remember how you used to run around...but never be sad as lazy afternoons snuggled up with your owners are just as rewarding as those mad days when you ran on the beach together. Take care Tess...Happy Turkey!! (...I mean Christmas!!) Love Lucy. xx

Dog: Leo
Black Labrador - 16 months
Leo is happy as long as he has something in his mouth. He is an absolute stunner. He is off the working breed and has a super nature. My partner and I don't have children so he is effectively our baby. He is spoilt rotton and still thinks he is a puppy. He is a handful, but I adore him.

This is Paddy - he's a Black Lab crossed with a Springer Spaniel, and is now approaching six years old.
Both his parents were pedigree gundogs, but when we got him as a three-month old pup, he had contracted demadectic mange, and within a few months he had lost almost all of his fur. At the time he looked more like a Shar-Pei than a Lab, but with plenty of care and medication, he eventually fought off the infection and he is only left with a small bald patch on his neck to remind us of his ordeal. His early days, as with most Spaniel-types, was spent tearing round the house at 90mph, jumping on people's heads as he ran round the back edge of the sofa, and stealing our meals. He has calmed down in recent times, and is sadly now affected by arthritis in his front elbows. We're giving him green-lipped mussels and a calcium supplement to keep his joints supple, and although he's not allowed to chase balls anymore, he's still a happy dog. We recently moved to a bigger house with a much larger garden, complete with 6ft fence. Amazingly, we found that Paddy - despite only being about 18inches tall - could vault the fence. After reinforcing it with mesh nets to keep him in, we then discovered that he had been watching too many repeats of The Great Escape, and had become an expert tunneller! Paving slabs are now buried at the bottom of the fence to prevent him digging his way out, and I seem to have won the battle of wills to keep him from 'roaming' - there's a cute Black Lab bitch that lives just around the block who sometimes visits Paddy at his gate, and I'm sure she was the inspiration for his regular breakouts. I hope you can find space to feature Paddy on your excellent website.

Hi, Just stumbled across your website, very, very good. Nice touch writing it from Tess' perspective. If my dog could talk I'm sure she would say the same things. At least it now puts my mind at rest that it's not just our dog that has a "mental" few years early in it's life. I can picture our dog Remy in every one of your photos (especially the ones with the beach and xmas turkey!) Glad to see someone with such charisma and love for labs as we are. I'll have to get my backside in gear and finish my own site. Please find attached a picture of our little "angel" in one of her less chaotic moods. Remy is also a high breed pedigree, just over two years old now.

Dog: Luther
Black Lab, 10 Months Old
Hello! I am Luther, a 10 month old Black Lab. I love to run in the woods and chase my older brother Headro around so I can lick his big floppy ears! I love to have all the attention but get very sad if Headro goes for a ride without me because I annoy him sometimes. Mommy and Daddy play with me all the time so I don't chew stuff I am not suppose to. This year is my first Christmas, and Headro tells me that Santa will bring me a big bone and toys because I am such a good boy.
