Tess Has Accident
O
n a Sunday afternoon in May 2000, as we were on the way home from a lovely walk in the woods, Tess stepped on a broken bottle and suffered a bad cut to her left front leg.

We cannot understand the irresponsibility of people who litter their paths with broken glass. If they need to carry drinks with them, can they not simply get rid of the bottles in a bin somewhere?

We had to rush a badly bleeding Tess to a vet's surgery which was open for emergencies, where she was anaesthetized, and stitched up. She needed seven stitches.

It was a horrible end to a perfect, sunny day. Our walk had been such fun for Tess, who had tried her best to help two little boys retrieve their ball from the river, and later was allowed to join their game of soccer.

Tess was to be kept still for a couple of weeks, not easy, as she just wanted to carry on as normal. Her wound healed well, and the stitches were removed two weeks later.
