A Typical Day with Tess

At 8:15 am Tess jumps on top of "Dad" in bed and wakes him up. "Mom" is already up, she always gets up early. In the kitchen breakfast is waiting, and Tess has a teaspoon of cod liver oil and some cold meat and cereal. She also shares a toast and cheese with "Mom," who cuts it into little pieces and feeds them to Tess, one at the time. Tess likes that.

Then she goes out into the garden and inspects the whole length of the fence. She also chases away the birds that are having their breakfast on the birdfeeder on the patio, and pinches any nuts that may have fallen to the ground.

She waits impatiently for "Mom" and "Dad" to get ready for the daily walk, and when she notes the first sign of preparation she goes absolutely wild with happy anticipation. Usually they have quite a struggle to get her harness on.

TESS RUNS TOWARDS RIVER Tess loves the morning walk, she dashes up the path and plunges into the river for her daily swim. When she spots other dogs she crouches down like a lioness and hides in the tall grass, and then she pounces on them and dares them to a game of chase.

Tess likes running through muddy puddles and always comes home wet and dirty. After a good rub with one of her own big towels she is ready for a rest. Most of her day is spent resting - with short bursts of playfulness. Some days she gets to go somewhere in the car, which she likes very much, especially if the destination is the seaside. There is nothing Tess likes better than running on a sandy beach, chasing seagulls and fetching sticks thrown into the surf.

TESS AND DAD ASLEEP ON SOFA Supper is Tess' main meal, and as she is a bit of a fussy eater, "Mom" usually cooks something special for her. Steamed chicken is her favourite.
Evenings are spent relaxing on the sofa, while the family watches TV.
