CHICKENS CAME FIRST - SHOCKER!

Manys a wannabee philosopher, usually in an advanced state of inebriation, has stumped a number of great thinkers of our time, by uttering the phrase "Which came first; the chicken or the egg?"

Its inconsequential, when you think of it, all that matters is that they're both with us now...its not as if chickens are any better than eggs because they were here first. Its not like they're going to walk around the school playground shouting "All join in...the eggs are in the bin" Well in an effort to put this poultry puzzle to bed, I will examine both possible cases: (ignoring the case where there was a dead-heat)

1) Chickens came first; If chickens came first...fair enough, they meet up with a rooster after a few and the next thing you know, theres a wee egg.

2) Eggs came first; Hardly. When you think about it imagine all these wee eggs lying about without a chicken to hatch them or watch over them. If by some fluke they manage to get out of their shell, they'll only last a matter of hours before they starve or get eaten by any other wild animal, bar snails. I mean they're not the smartest...any chicks I've seen are usually perched on top of a big Smarties Easter egg or a magicians hat. And I don't think they've even got arms at that stage... although I could be wrong on that one.
If they can't survive their early years then its hardly likely they'll grow up into a chicken, now is it, in which case we would'nt have chickens or eggs with us today.

QED - Chickens are the best.... er..
I mean Chickens came first.
