Stag has launched the Stag
P803, a high performance, high volume production programmer which gives
a ten-fold improvement in productivity and production throughput. The
programmer is compatible with both 3V and 5V technology devices.
Designed for either standalone or remote operation, the Stag P803
incorporates a powerful 32bit embedded processor to give the fastest
programming and verify times. Typically, programming of eight 28F010
Flash devices is achieved in less than four seconds. The P803 is capable
of programming eight devices at a time in gang or set mode using twin,
plug-in modules each with four sockets. Each socket is backed up with
isolated pin drivers for each pin in each socket. The RAM capacity
starts at 4 Mbytes (32 Mbits) and is expendable to 16 Mbytes (128 Mbits)
using SIMMs, with further expansion planned for the future. Support is
provided for a variety of devices including EPROMs, EEPROMs and Flash
memory as well as Microcontrollers.
The use of plug-in modules not only ensures that existing packages
styles, such as DIPs, PLCCs, PSOP, TSOPs and QFPs, are catered for, but
that new package styles can be supported in the future. The device
support library is fully updatable and is held in non-volatile Flash
memory. New and updated device support software can be simply downloaded
from a host computer.
To ensure programming integrity, all parts are checked for correct
insertion on power up and programming is undertaken to manufacturers'
specifications either by selecting the manufacturer's part name or using
the electronic ID to select the programming algorithm for the device in
the socket. Programming can also be security locked, if required in the
application. Post-program verification is normally performed to the
manufacturer's specification but can be set to the user limits in order
to screen parts more stringently if required.
