  • "It is the dawn of the sixth millenium and the skies are darkening, for the suns themselves are fading. Humans reached the stars long ago, building a Republic of high technology and universal emancipation . . . and then squandered it, fought over it and finally lost it. A new Dark Age has descended on humanity, for the greatest of civilizations has fallen and even the stars die. Now, feudal lords rule the Known Worlds, vying for power with fanatic priests and scheming guilds."

    Introduction

Welcome to the homepage of my 'Empire Of The Fading Suns' (EFS) Campaign. It's intended as an online resource for present and potential players.

It's not meant as an exhaustive compendium of every piece of background material or of every conceivable game mechanic but should at least provide enough of an overview to answer the more common questions. As the campaign progresses, I'll update the site with information, handouts and precis of what has gone before (which should help the traditional 'between session scheming').

The game centers around the crew of the starship 'Osprey' and the Quest that they have undertaken - To seek an answer to the Fading Suns phenomena, bring lost worlds back to the Imperial fold and to right injustice where e're they find it. The nobles in the party are landless and there is the lure of new territories to claim as their own if they are successful.
(for general game background, see setting).
Their adventures have taken them into barbarian space (where they have learned that the 'barbarians' are by no means as barbaric as they had been led to believe), conspiracies have been hinted at and old assumptions challenged.

The Dramatis Personae lists our heroes and many of those they have encountered and there is also a precis of their adventures

    "Per Ardua Ad Astra"?

It's semi-traditional to give campaigns a title and this one is taken from the R.A.F. motto, which translates as 'Through struggle to the stars'. Given the science-fiction setting it seemed an appropriate title, especially with the latinate undertones in the game.
