Fading Suns Timeline

~40,000 BCE Oldest known ruins of the race known as the Annanuki or Ur dated to this period. Aside from their ruins, the Ur left behind the Jump-gates that link the Known worlds to one another.

100 A.D. The Ur vanish from history, abandoning all their worlds and leaving their 'child' races the Ur-Obun and the Ur-Ukar to fend for themselves.

1800 A.D. The Vau, a non-human race achieve space flight.

1969 A.D. Mankind reaches Earths moon.

2100 A.D. The human race, united under a world government (known now as the First Republic) begins to travel extensively within the solar system.

2105 A.D. Explorers locate an Ur jumpgate beyond the orbit of Pluto. Expansion into the Galaxy commences, a new religion rises up based around the mystical feelings of communion associated with Jumpgate travel. “Sathraism” is a recurring sect until the final introduction of a damping field to eliminate the side effect of jump-travel.
A diaspora begins to occur as colonies are settled beyond the effective reach of the republic.

2500-3500 A.D. The Diaspora

2500 A.D. The First Republic begins to collapse. Noble families establish themselves as local governments and the ancestors of the modern Noble houses begin to rise to prominence.

2700 A.D. First Contact with the equine race known as Shantor.

2723 A.D. Zebulon the prophet has his vision of the Holy flame, gathers his disciples and begins to preach the new religion of Pancreationism.

2730 A.D. The Shantor revolt at their ill treatment and are shipped to reservations worlds around known space.

2945 A.D. First contact with the Vau. War commences immediately. Prophet Zebulon dies in a Jump-Gate accident on his way to try to mediate a peace treaty. His martyrdom spurs human efforts for peace and also establishes the symbol for the church (a stylised Ur Jumpgate).

3500-4000 A.D. Merchant interests join forces and create a Second Republic with its capitol at New Istanbul. It is a grand era of scientific progress and terrforming becomes commonplace and extensive.

4000 A.D. The Suns begin to Fade… Some kind person also hacks into the central Republic database and deletes all the records concerning the social welfare payments that most of the Republics citizens rely on now that work is almost all automated. Religious fervour adds fuel to the fires of chaos. The Noble Houses unite and seize Byzantium Secundus and ensure that the Republic cannot be saved, grabbing as much of the pie as they can.
Many worlds seal their Jumpgates and are lost to history.

4000- A.D. The New Dark Ages.

4525 A.D. The barbarian invasions begin. Star-Nations not aligned to Church or Noble Houses begin to raid Known Space. They are beaten back but only at high cost.

4540 A.D. Vladimir Alecto of House Alecto unites the Ten Houses in the war against the Barbarians and begins to form a new Empire.

4550 A.D. Vladimir I is crowned Emperor of the Known Worlds and is promptly assassinated by an unknown hand. The Great Houses (now Five after the loss of half their number in the wars to put Vladimir on the throne) and the Universal Church elect Regents for ten year terms in the interim.

4900 A.D. First appearance of the parasitic aliens called Symbiotes. War commences as these aliens attempt to invade human space and infect everything in their path. Finally their advance is halted at the fortress world of Stigmata.

4956 A.D. Darius of House Hawkwood makes a claim on the Imperial throne. Supported by Houses Al-Malik and Li-Halan, they are opposed by Houses Decados and Hazat.

4992 A.D. The Kurgans begin to raid Hazat space.

4993 A.D. Alexius, son of Darius Hawkwood is crowned Emperor.

4995 A.D. The Hazat and House Decados concede defeat and accept Emperor Alexius.

4996 A.D. Now…
