Arras And The Grottes De Naours

Tour ItineraryTour itinerary - 4-7 May 2007

Day 1

Depart your local area by executive coach to P&O Dover/Calais Ferry crossing.   Travel to Arras and check into Hotel.  The rest of the day is free to explore the town.

Day 2 Our trip today is to the delightful city of Douai, which is a surprisingly attractive and lively town.  Amongst its many attractions is the massive Gothic belfry of the Hotel de Ville, renowed for the carillion of 62 bells – the largest single collection in Europe.  It rings every 15 minutes and has hour-long concerts every Saturday between 10.45 and 11.45.  Boat trips can also be taken on the River Scarpe or you may just want to enjoy walking around the old town.
Day 3

Today we visit Naours with its famous underground city.  Marvel at the underground galleries used as a place of refuge since the Middle Ages consisting of streets, squares, chapels, shops, a bakery and accommodation for 3000 people.

Day 4 Back on the coach to start our return journey back, stopping off at a beer and wine warehouse so that you can stock up on your favourite ‘tipple’.
