Europeans
1984
|
|
|
|
I’m on a roll, and finally getting round to adding more pages
to the site. Next up is a big update,
courtesy of Dutch Europeans fan, Inge Kuijt. There is a page of her recollections, including a couple of
articles written for Dutch and French Marillion fanzines. These include a great photo (see left) of Colin and Steve taken in London in 1988, towards the end of How We Live’s days! I have also updated the Gigs pages with
the full sets of concert photos from Delft, Amsterdam, Folkestone
& Cologne in 1984! Many thanks to
Inge for access to her archive! |

Euros
Newsletters |
|
|
Wow, two new updates within a month! At last, the Europeans
Newsletters are now available on the Articles
page. In the days before the internet,
these photocopied A4 sheets were posted out to fans that had subscribed to
the mail-out list. I’ve added 22 new
pages! All four band members would
often write a short piece, plus musing from Mark at Eccentric! Enjoy... |

Check out the Gigography page, where
you’ll find lots of updates. Nick
Atkins (former Europeans soundman) has been
able to fill in a lot details about early gigs. More to come too!. Also a number of new adverts, posters,
flyers and photos (including a great set of shots taken at Leicester Polytechnic
in 1982 by Thomas Oldfield.) |

this site, and references from across the web, it’s a detailed look at the
original songs, and what they became. |

Hooks
in You Video Shoot |
|
|
|
Next up from the archives is a page dedicated to Steve
Hogarth's introduction to Marillion fans - the Hooks
in You video shoot at Brixton Academy in August 1989. Featuring
recollections from the band, rare photos & a small Q&A transcript
from the show itself.

Steve's
First Marillion Gig - 20 years ago! |
|
|
|
In June 1989, Steve Hogarth made his live debut
with Marillion at a tiny pub in
Stoke Row, Oxfordshire. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of this gig,
take a look at The Crooked
Billet page that collects together interview material and
archive photos from that special show. |

& Harlow Memorabilia at 2009 Marillion Weekend |
|
|
At this year's Marillion Weekend events in Holland
& Canada, there was a welcome return of the 'Marillion
Museum.' As in previous years, this included items of memorabilia
donated by the band, including instruments, stage clothes, photographs and
more. The display this year included a number of interesting Harlow & Europeans
items. Thanks to John Attewell (aka Jakefish) for the photographs: |

Europeans
on BBC 6 Music |
|
|
|
On Tuesday 5 Feb 2008, Chris Hawkins played 30 mins of Europeans on
his late night BBC 6 music show! The six live tracks were:
Typical, Spirit of Youth, Going to Work, Falling, Joining Dots & AEIOU,
all from the 1984 Sight & Sound show at Chippenham
Goldiggers. The show was available on the
'listen again' feature via the BBC website, but only for a week. I am
pleased to host an mp3 of the tracks on
this site for a while. Please note that the file is large, 26.3mb. |
