Fairford's promotion chances suffered a severe jolt with this 119 run defeat by fourth placed Rockhampton, a poor start both in the field and the bat, although amends where made in restricting Rockhampton to a gettable 215, the loss of four quick wickets where insurmountable for the home side who where to be bowled out for a season low 95.

An early dropped chance set the tone for towns early efforts in the field as again indisiplened bowling allowed the visitors to race past 50 after only ten overs. Newport and Moreing slowed the rate but it was not until the drinks break that wickets fell. Both Tylers scored 51 adding 131 for the first wicket before Moreing removed them both in a tidy workmanlike spell. Town then ran through the rest of the batting, Newport and Bird picking up the wickets which where to include terrific catches and run-outs, town in breaking the opening partnership took the 10 Rockhampton wickets for 84 runs and where left to chase 215 on a good wicket and fast outfield a target that looked well within town.

Fairford where to be rocked by losing both openers for no-score, then two more quick wickets as town lurched to 23-4. Bullock with an uncomfortable 25 and Greener a cameo 15 produced a brief flurry of runs town could not however build any partnerships. Cook battled alone whilst Tyler followed his batting with 4 quick wickets to finish off the tail of towns batting, which against a good bowling side could not produce the previous weeks heroics. Although not the end of Fairfords promotion push this defeat has given town no room for error for the remaining four matches.
