Gray Sparks Easy Win
Another convincing win for Fairford, an all round team performance with veteran Gray shining with the bat in a 6 wicket rout over Tewkesbury which now places Fairford second in the league.

Fairford again had the perfect start, Bird with two early wickets this was to be scant reward for his and in particular Peymans efforts as towns fielding fell below par with a number of chances put to ground. Deeming making most of this good fortune with an airy 61 and at the half-way point Tewkesbury at 102-2 looked set for a big 200 plus score. That they did not was due to Moreing and the returning Bennett, with contrasting styles of slow and pace bowling well to tight set field slowing the scoring and importantly the catches, of which Clarkes effort the pick being held. The innings was finished off in some style by Newport and Bird as Tewkesbury collapsed to 175 all out, their last 8 wickets falling for just 65 runs off the last 23 overs.

Towns reply was again explosive, Townsend punishing anything loose looked well at ease before being beaten by a low delivery. Gray joined captain Leadbeater and the pair looked at ease against an ordinary attack taking scoring opportunities without risk and had taken town to 63 before lack of bounce accounted for Leadbeater. Gray now in fine form increased the tempo and in addition to some quick running was to strike 8 fours in his unbeaten 70, he outscored Newport whose cameo ended misreading the line and kept pace with Greener who again showed how to strike the ball making light of the large outfield as he passed 300 runs for the season in his distinctive style. The almost at the finish loss of Greener could not take the gloss off another impressive town win completed by the impish Bullock.

Towns pre-season training, aided in part thanks to club sponsorship from The Old Police Station showed again as when under pressure in the field town fought through and will feel that the vast improvement in this area has allowed the batsmen to play with more freedom and this has been evident in all five games to date. At home to Newent this Saturday, the club will be holding a barbeque after the game an open invitation to come along is extended to all members, friends, sports editors and all sponsors, Equilibrium (Fairford) Limited Wealth Management being ball sponsors for the Newent match.
