HONOURS and TRADITIONS
The
Honour Award
Each year, the Council of
Honour, which consists of the Members who have been awarded the Honour Tie,
meets in the Clubhouse on the last Thursday in February for a working supper to
elect to the Roll of Honour the Member or Members who have made an exceptional
and consistent contribution to the life of the Club. Members may at any time bring to the attention of a Member of
the Roll of Honour or its Secretary,
Peter Beard, 01372 378614, the name of anyone whom it is felt should be
nominated for the Club’s premier award.
Award winners receive their
special tie at the Annual Club Dinner and their names are inscribed on the
Honours Boards in the Clubhouse.

Awards
It is the tradition of the
Club to make a number of Annual Awards that are presented at the Annual Club
Dinner.
2000-2001 Winners were:
The
Chairman’s Cup (an inscribed 2-pint
tankard first presented to Vice President George Patten by the Chairman in 1971
and bequeathed to the Club. George
Patten was a pioneer of documentary films and played a leading part in the
formation of the National Film Board of Canada. He is remembered as a character
riding to the Club on a vintage motor bike while wearing a leather flying
helmet!):

died in tragic circumstances. It is awarded to the most improved player in the
