Jonesboree 2001

For the third year in succession the Jonesboree took place in Caerllan, despite the outbreak of foot and mouth disease, which had made many areas of countryside out of bounds.

Wyn, Gareth, Tricia and Ceri and their families came down on Friday night. Jonesboree weather has always been varied but the site that greeted us on Saturday morning was a first.

Sat am
During the day the rest of the the clan arrived. All but one (Simon) timed their arrival to be at CaerLlan no later than 2.00pm.

The next two hours saw almost everyone rivetted to the small screen as Wales played France.

Tension was high as full time approached with only a point difference.

A drop kick and a surprise try sealed France's fate.

WALES 43 FRANCE 35

The whole family was together for the evening meal (except for Wyn, who was so overcome with emotionand fatigue at Wales' triumph that he went to bed early and missed his pudding for the first time in living memory).
Two members of the clan stayed only for the evening meal, before returning home.

More of them later this year on this site I hope!

The evening festivities included Owen's Quiz, mainly for the children, featuring as answers all (well almost all) the names of the people at the Jonesboree,

and a Pub Quiz, (does anyone remember which country has the most donkeys, and which is the smallest cell in the human body?)

and a game of Masquerade (Charades) which Snoop Dog won, despite not getting Helen's 'flying by the seat of her pants'.

Sunday morning saw an even more wintry landscape.
The car roofs started off with a good few inches of snow on them - convenient ammunition for a full scale snowball fight.
Time to settle the bills!
