I've decided to prospone adding any more updates until after the holiday season - I've got too many presents left to buy, and too little time left to buy them in!
Anyway, I hope you all have a peaceful and fufilling rest over the next few weeks - especially if you're one of the folks that give your time working over the holidays.
Happy New Year!
I've been thinking about the Geek Port since uploading the information yesterday - it's all about flexibility. At the moment, the Geek Port acts as a dumb peripheral, but it should be the core of the Wearwulf's expandability. The Geek Port should be reprogrammable, to encourage application specific uses.
To date I've always used PICs for small projects, but I'd like to consider some of the alternatives. The Atmel MegaAVR chips seem to be one-such alternative, similar in price, but faster, less restrictive, and reprogrammable in-system using its SPI interface.
Expect the Geek Port documentation to be updated in a few days if I decide to go with the Atmel chip, probably a ATmega/8L chip.
