Hi there! What brings you here? Chances are you've been looking for any sites to do with the very old, simple but addictive Quick Basic game that is Nibbles. Either that or QBasic in general. Please stay a little longer, I think I have something that may interest you...

Nibbles is one of my all time favourite games, it was also one of the first I played or attempted to re-program. For those of you unfamiliar with the game its all about a snake called Sammy who you guide around 2D 80x25 levels trying to eat up all 9 numbers whilst avoiding walls, other snakes and your own tail (Sammy increases in length as he eats). Success leads to the next, harder level. Lose all your lives and its Game Over.

Although there are many similar games (e.g. for mobile phones) or even some which call themselves by the Nibbles name, I've found none are really like the original game. "If you want the old Nibbles why not just play it?!" you might ask. Well yeah, you can and I do still play it, but then I have modified mine to play on new PCs. You see one of the drawbacks of trying to play a game that is 14 years old is that the developers may not have planned for how good computers would get! You may have seen that evil "Division by zero" error appear yourself. So that's where Super Ferrets comes in, a new game for a new generation.

I make no secret of the fact that Super Ferrets IS Nibbles. It really is just Nibbles with a few extra lines of code, slightly different colour scheme and intro. Obviously there's some upgrades too, for starters you can have up to 4 players and you can change a few of the games' options. And the inevitable level editor, which is very simple but it does the job. You are very welcome, in fact I encourage you, to download all of the Super Ferrets files I've provided, distribute them freely and modify any code etc. Please send your levels and any feedback to ajfarmilo@hotmail.com.
