Saturday 1st May 2004 - Ridgeons League Division One
Cambridge City Res.  2,    Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  0  (1-0)
Team: Lawrence Leggett, Chris Rogowski (45 Trevivian), Chris Kyle, Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews, Bradley Barber, Paul Berry, Mark Cooper (75 Pugh), Robbie Fuller, Kevin Hudson (57 Beddoes), Tom Childs
City recorded the win they needed with goals from Smith and Bulman to lift the 1st Division Championship Trophy on the final day of the league season at Milton Road this afternoon.
Presentation pictures
League Secretary Bruce Badcock presented the Trophy to City Captain Steve Shipley after the game.
On an excellent surface both sides produced neat flowing passing football with chances created at both ends in the first half. Leggett saved well to deny Bass with Hering and Smith both going close in the early exchanges as the home side pressed forward.  Fuller volleyed narrowly wide following Barber's deep cross with Childs and Hudson both going close to taking advantage of nervousness in the home defence.
Adam Smith broke the deadlock on 24 minutes with a low shot under the diving Leggett following a cross from the influential Bass. The Seasiders continued to enjoy spells of good possession but failed to find a telling finish and were pleased to hear the whistle as City finished the half strongly.
Play was contained to midfield for the major part of the second half with neither side having a strike on goal, and with only one goal separating the sides City were reluctant to commitment too many players forward. With 10 minutes remaining substitute James Bulman raced passed a tiring Felixstowe defence to power home his sides second to the relief of the crowd, who could now enjoy the the remaining few minutes and toast the Championship. Confident of victory, City pressed forward with Leggett making two fine saves to deny Abbott and ensure the goal tally was not increased. Felixstowe's run of six games undefeated had come to an end but they had contributed fully to an entertaining game.
Congratulations to City and every success for next season in the Premier Division.

Tuesday 27th April 2004 - Ridgeons League Division One
March Town Utd. 1,    Felixstowe & Walton Utd. 1    (1-0)
Team: Lawrence Leggett, Chris Rogowski,, Chris Kyle, Nick Barker, Tom Childs, Bradley Barber, TomTrevivian (80 Morgan), Kevin Hudson, Robbie Fuller, Mark Cooper (65 Pugh), Paul Berry
Bradley Barber's second half goal earned the Seasiders a point from the mid-week trip into the Fens. Colson had deservedly provided the home side with the interval lead before Felixstowe upped their game in the second half. The Seasiders finished the game strongly with the home side hanging on for the draw.
The first clear opening saw Barber fire over the March goal on six minutes following Cooper's good run and cross down the right as Felixstowe started brightly. The speed of Brand, a feature of the first half, constantly troubled the visiting defence with White heading over for the Hares following a good delivery from Brand on 13 minutes. Leggett saved with his feet to deny Anderson as he met Brand's cross and Brand fired over when well placed. The pressure was rewarded on 28 minutes when Brand outstripped the Felixstowe to deliver a deep cross for Simon Colson to send a looping header over the stranded Leggett. George produced a good tackle on the edge of his area to deny a swift reply from Cooper and Brand nearly double the lead on the half time whistle but, under pressure from Kyle,  placed his shot over the bar.
Fuller struck the angle of post and bar from Trevivian's corner one minute after the restart to signal Felixstowe's intentions as they took the game to the home side. Despite enjoying the greater share of possession and subduing the lively Brand, March's keeper Bryan was little troubled until the 77th minute when Bradley Barber headed home from Trevivian's corner. Felixstowe pushed forward in search of the winner with March successfully hanging on to earn a point.

Saturday 24th April 2004 - Ridgeons League Division One
Thetford Town  1,    Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  2   (0-1)
Team: Lawrence Leggett, Michael Beddoes (67 Trevivian), Chris Kyle, Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews, Tom Childs, Paul Berry, Mark Cooper (86 Pugh), Robbie Fuller, Kevin Hudson, Bradley Barber
Substitute Shaun Pugh drilled home the Felixstowe winner deep into injury time after the Seasiders had been hanging on for a point, following Mark Fowler's second half equaliser. Having dominated the first half Felixstowe visibly faded after the interval with Thetford finishing the stronger before Pugh's timely finish saw the Seasiders take their undefeated run to five games.
A bright start saw corners conceded at both ends before Felixstowe took control with Smith well positioned to clear off the home goal line to deny Fuller and then Childs. Andrews and Hudson both went close following precision corners from Barber with Kyle's close range shot blocked as pressure mounted on the Thetford goal. On the half hour the break-through came as Danny Fowler's hurried clearance under pressure from 20 yards looped over the stranded Snowdon into the home goal. Hawkes shot wide with the home sides only real threat of the half before Fuller struck the home cross bar with the Seasiders good value for the interval lead.
Felixstowe lost their rhythm after the break allowing the home side to increase in confidence with Harley instrumental in much of their positive play. Harley shot wide from Fowler's cross and Isted found increasing space down the right before delivering the telling cross on 77 minutes to bring the sides level.  With the Felixstowe defence failing to clear, the ball found it's way to Mark Fowler on the angle of the area who volleyed home an excellent goal to cancel out his brother's o.g. of the first half.
Captain Sharp was excellently placed to put Thetford ahead from the edge of the Felixstowe area with five minutes remaining but chose to pass to Taylor who was quickly closed down and placed his shot wide.
With the clock running down the draw, on balance looked a fair result, but late substitute Pugh had other ideas. Entering the game with four minutes remaining to lead the front line and having seen little of the ball as Felixstowe defended out the last few minutes, Shaun Pugh gained the ball from a poor pass advanced one on one with the keeper and powered home his first goal for the 1st Team.
A poor second half but three points gladly received as the Seasiders take their unbeaten run to five games.

Tuesday 20th April 2004 - Ridgeons League Division One
Haverhill Rovers  2,    Felixstowe & Walton Utd. 3  (2-2)
Team: Lawrence Leggett, Chris Rogowski, Chris Kyle (67 Morgan), Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews, Michael Beddoes (80 Berry), Bradley Barber, Kevin Hudson, Robbie Fuller, Mark Cooper (89 Pugh), Ryan Hunn
Three headed goals saw the Seasiders collect all three points from the mid-week trip to Hamlet Croft. Having taken a two goal goal lead through Andrews and Hudson it was all square at the interval with Banham scoring twice for the home side. Andrews headed home the winner before the game was reduced to near farce with the home teams physio sent to the changing rooms from the field of play.
The speed and penetrative running of Green, Banham and Jenkin caused problems for the visiting defence but the periods of fluent play were not maintained enabling the Seasiders to build an increasing number of attacks as the game progressed.
Jimmy Andrews headed home Barber's accurate corner on nine minutes at the far post to give the visitors the lead . Haverhill responded with Lowen firing over from close range and Leggett bravely down to deny Banham after he broken through the defensive cordon. Against the run of play Kevin Hudson doubled the Seasiders lead, ten minutes before the interval, when he met Barker's deep free kick to head over the stranded Campbell from 12 yards.
Straight from the restart Rovers pulled a goal back with the speedy Green racing to the by line and firing across the goal line for Shaun Banham to steer the ball home from close range. Six minutes later it was all square when Shaun Banham collected a long ball and nipped past a static defence to thread the ball past Leggett.
Haverhill started the second half as they had finished the first but gradually Felixstowe gained the upper hand with Campbell making good saves from Fuller and Beddoes before Cooper had the ball in the net following a good run and cross from Hudson. The Referee's attention was drawn to an Assistance flag, resulting in the goal being disallowed, a Haverhill player being cautioned and Felixstowe being given a free kick.
Chances were created at both ends before Jimmy Andrews headed home from Barber's cross with ten minutes remaining, Rover's goalkeeper Campbell receiving treatment after a collision on the goal line.
With five minutes remaining the Haverhill Physio, on the field to attend to a player, was dismissed to the changing rooms and the game ended in an untidy fashion.

Saturday 17th April 2004 - Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  1,   Stanway Rovers  1   (0-1)
Team: Lawrence Leggett, Chris Rogowski, Chris Kyle, Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews, Bradley Barber, Tom Trevivian (79 Morgan), Michael Beddoes (87 Pugh), Robbie Fuller, David Thurkettle (69 Cooper), Ryan Hunn
Stanway's promotion hopes received a setback in a lacklustre draw at Dellwood Avenue this afternoon. Curtis gave the visitors the interval lead with Thurkettle equalising after the break from the penalty spot. Both sides went close to finding the winner, with the draw a fair return for both sides.
In a game that had an end of season air to it, both sides created half chances with Pannell and Burch both going close for the visitors in the early stages. The clearest chance to open the scoring fell to Thurkettle on 23 minutes after Fuller headed on a deep cross but the Felixstowe number 10 pushed his right foot shot wide of the post. Kyle headed wide from Thurkettle's corner and from a swift break Warren was off target for the visitors from Mort's cross.
Martin Curtis put the visitors ahead on 39 minutes with a lofted shot from the edge of the area  that Leggett was unable to reach.
A scrappy second half came to life just before the hour when Challender was deceived by the bounce of the ball and handled in the area, for David Thurkettle to step up and power the spot kick home. Fuller headed Barker's free kick wide as the Seasiders looked for the lead with Curtis and Daly going close for the visitors, but with time running down both sides looked to have settled for a point and Mr Butcher obliging with the final whistle.

Tuesday 13th April 2004 - Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  3,   Ipswich Wanderers 1    (1-1)
Team: Steven Pitts, Chris Rogowski, Chris Kyle, Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews, Tom Childs, Tom Trevivian (88 Morgan), Bradley Barber, Robbie Fuller, Kevin Hudson, Ryan Hunn (75 Thurkettle)
A stunning injury time goal from Tommy Childs confirmed Felixstowe’s win in the local derby as Ipswich Wanderers failed to convert possession into goals.
Crump struck the home cross bar before Kevin Hudson opened the scoring on 15 minutes as he rose above the Wanderers defence to head home Barker’s free kick. The game flowed from end to end on an excellent passing surface and seven minutes later it was all square when Andrews could only turn Porter’s driven cross into his own net past the stranded Pitts.
Wanderers gradually gained control, finishing the half strongly with Pitts saving from Crump and Elmer heading over from Bicker’s corner.
After the break Bickers and Elmer went close but despite controlling mid-field Wanderers failed to find a telling finish and on 82 minutes fell behind once again when Jimmy Andrews atoned for his own goal meeting Trevivian’s corner to head the home side into the lead. Felixstowe defended in depth as Wanderers pressed forward for a reply with Pitts saving from Warriner as the pressure mounted on the home goal, but it was Felixstowe who were to complete the scoring as Tommy Childs broke from the half way line. Following a strong run Childs let rip with a left foot shot that flew into the top right hand corner of the net giving Stannard no chance and enabling Felixstowe to record a notable double over their neighbours and their first win in six matches.

Saturday 10th April 2004 - Ridgeons League Division One
Long Melford 1,   Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  1   (0-1)
Team: Laurence Leggett, Chris Rogowski (68 Thurkettle), Tom Childs (83 Pugh), Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews, Michael Beddoes, Bradley Barber, Kevin Hudson, Robbie Fuller, Liam Hunn, Chris Kyle
A goal on the hour mark from Hesketh earned the home side a point after Hunn had given the Seasiders an interval lead. Both sides went close to snatching a late winner but on the day honours were even.
Both sides took time to settle into a rhythm on an uneven surface with Battell shooting wastefully over as the home side built through Crawford in mid-field for the first serious attack on goal for the home side. Haygreen failed to hold Barker's free kick from 25 yards, on 18 minutes, with Fuller stabbing the lose ball goal-ward for the alert Liam Hunn to head home from close range to put the Seasiders ahead.
Felixstowe looked to build on their advantage with Hunn's shot on the turn blocked at the expense of a corner by Stalker as Hudson and Fuller pressured the home defence. Stalker again defended well to clear of the foot of Barber following good link up play with Hunn.
Judd had the ball in the net but was ruled off side before heading wide, moments later, following a deep ball into the Felixstowe area after Crawford's initial header flashed dangerously across the six yard line. Long Melford finished the half strongly with Crawford making a number of probing runs with Jones and Pratt both placing shots wide without testing Leggett in the Felixstowe goal.
The home side were quickly onto the attack after the break through Goulbourn down the right and Judd once again failed to find the target as a telling cross was delivered by Goulborn into the area.
Hunn put through by Fuller flashed his left foot shot wide of Haygreen's right had post as the pace picked up and a flowing move involving Golbourne, Hesketh and Crawford was well cleared by Hudson at the expense of a corner. Haygreen saved well to deny Beddoes after blocking a free kick from Barker as the game flowed end to end and on the hour the sides were level.
Cook's deep cross from the left eventually fell to Neil Hesketh and though Leggett blocked his first attempt the ball ran lose with the number 10 reacting quickly to stab the ball home from close range. The home side pressed forward for the winner with Jones and Battell both going close and Hesketh heading over Jones's corner kick but neither keeper was to be further tested and honours were even at full time.

Tuesday 6th April 2004 - Ridgeons League Division One
Whitton United  3,    Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  1   (1-0)
Team: Laurence Leggett, Chris Rogowski, Tom Childs, Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews, Chris Kyle, Matt Morgan (57 Thurkettle), Bradley Barber, Kevin Hudson, Liam Hunn, Michael Beddoes
On a heavy pitch both sides contributed to an entertaining game with Whitton creating the greater chances to take the points with a brace for Martin and Newman wrapping the game up after Hunn had equalised for the Seasiders midway through the second half.
Charters saved at the expense of a corner with only 20 seconds on the watch following an explosive run and shot from Childs as the Seasiders put the Greens on the back foot early in the game. Leggett collected Swann's strike comfortably and Martin saw his shot on the turn pass the Felixstowe keeper's left had upright before Whitton opened the scoring on 31 minutes. Grimwood's free kick was diverted for a corner and with the danger not cleared Beven fired the ball across the six yard for Ricky Martin to meet both ball and keeper to slot the ball home. Both players required treatment following the collision before continuing with the Felixstowe keeper requiring further attention as he collected the next long ball but slowly recovered and was able to finish the game.
A strong run from Hudson ended with a fine curling shot that Charters palmed away at full stretch as the Seasiders finished the half strongly.
Whitton increased their tempo after the interval with the Felixstowe defence at full stretch and following a goalmouth scramble the ball came back off a post for Morgan to sweep the ball clear. Swann, well shepherded by Andrews, went close following a strong run and shot before Leggett saved at full length to deny the busy Newman.
The Seasiders drew level on 67 minutes through Liam Hunn's positive strike from eight yards following a quality ball deep into the area from Thurkettle. Ricky Martin regained the lead for the home side with a solo run through the Felixstowe defence six minutes later to score his second under the diving Leggett from six yards.
With both defences looking unsure on the tricky surface opportunities were created at both ends of the field and on 84 minutes Richard Newman put the result beyond doubt as he swept home a rebound of the bar, after Francis' shot had been blocked, for Whitton's third.
Rogowski went close in search of a late reply for Felixstowe with the greens deservedly collecting all three points.

Saturday 3rd April 2004 - Ridgeons League Division One
Leiston  2,   Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  0   (0-0)
Team: Laurence Leggett, Chris Rogowski,  Chris Kyle, Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews, Micky Felgate (23 Trevivian), Michael Beddoes (Thurkettle 79), Bradley Barber, Liam Hunn (68 Pugh), Paul Berry,Tom Childs
Promotion ambitions remained on course for Leiston this afternoon as Zippy Fryer took full advantage of defensive mistakes to bag a second half brace for the home side.
With wind advantage Leiston pressed from the kick off but failed to threaten the Felixstowe goal as Barker, Andrews and Kyle kept at distance attempts from Driver, Fryer and Saker.  Chenery made a number of strong runs without a telling finish and Leggett was not forced to make a save until the  35 minute when Chenery's long ball found Driver in space and the Felixstowe keeper was quickly off his line to deny the home sides top scorer. As the half progressed the Seasider's confidence and share of possession increased with Childs and Beddoes working hard to progress forward and Fenn produced an excellent diving save to prevent Barber from opening the scoring with a well placed shot from the edge of the box five minutes before the break.
Neither keeper was tested in the second half until the 58th minute when Zippy Fryer pressured the Felixstowe keeper, following a back pass, and as the ball ran lose he opened the scoring from six yards.
The Seasiders went in search of a reply forcing a succession of corners with Sparks and Wright ensuring that Fenn was not troubled in the home goal. Leiston doubled their lead on 78 minutes following a poor midfield pass that allowed Taylor a shot on goal, Leggett  blocked and as the ball ran lose it was Zippy Fryer again that was first to the ball to fire home from four yards.
Felixstowe's good defensive performance had been undone by two lapses and Jennings went close to making it three when he headed wide from Taylor's cross and Leggett saved well on the edge of the box to again deny Taylor as Leiston finished the stronger.

Tuesday 30th March 2004 - Ridgeons League Division One
Harwich & Parkeston  4,    Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  0   (1-0)
Team: Laurence Leggett, Chris Rogowski (71 Morgan), Tom Childs, Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews, Micky Felgate (54 Beddoes), Paul Berry, Bradley Barber, Robbie Fuller (71 Trevivian), Chris Kyle, Liam Hunn
Following an evenly contested opening half the Shrimpers dominated the second period to comfortably collect all three points.
Leggett was down quickly to deny Lyness and Fuller responded for the visitors with a shot just wide of Munson's right hand post as the game started brightly with a strong wind blowing down the pitch and favouring the Seasiders.
Despite plenty of endeavour from both sides neither keepers were troubled until the 20th minute when Springett's free kick from wide on the right ran lose in the area for Lea Neale to drive the ball home from eight yards.
Felixstowe's best chance of a reply came on 42 minutes after Munson had failed to hold Barber's dipping free kick, Hunn was first to react but saw his shot fly over the bar from six yards under pressure from the Harwich keeper.
The Shrimpers doubled their lead three minutes after the restart as Carmichael claimed the ball on the edge of the Felixstowe area enabling Michael Lyness to fire home from eight yards. The home side never looked back from this point and on the hour Martin Calver hammered home from the edge of the area to complete a flowing move for the home side. Munson comfortably collected a shot from Fuller following a cross from the busy Childs but that was to be the closest the Seasiders can to a reply before Matt Carmichael made it four from Towne's deep cross to complete the scoring.

Tuesday 23rd March 2004 - Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton Utd. 2,  Whitton United  2   (1-2)

Team: Laurence Leggett, Alan Mills, Tom Childs, Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews, Micky Felgate, Paul Berry (76 Rogowski), Bradley Barber, Robbie Fuller, Kevin Hudson, Liam Hunn

An entertaining end-to-end local derby saw both sides committed to attack with the Seasiders recovering from two goals down after only seven minutes to earn a point as the Greens recorded their first away draw of the season.
Paul Adams named an unchanged team for the visit of Whitton but the home side had to dig deep as the visitors got off to a flying start with two early goals. Layton's cross from the right was well met by Jorrel Hurd as he stooped at the near post to head home the opener on four minutes. Andrew's headed Barker's deep free kick over the Whitton bar as Felixstowe looked for a quick response but the next attack on seven minutes saw Whitton double their lead as Gary Newman struck the ball home following a goalmouth scramble from close range.
It looked a long way back for the Seasiders at this point but on 13 minutes Liam Hunn volleyed home from eight yards as the recovery began. Barker and Hudson both went close to finding the equaliser with Leggett saving from Francis at the expense of a corner and Layton clipping the Felixstowe cross bar as the game flowed from end to end. Berry and Hudson linked well down the right with Berry forcing a corner as the interval drew near.
Two minutes after the break it was all square as Hudson claimed the ball on the half way  to advance and find Berry on the right with his cross volleyed home by Michael Felgate to bring the sides level. It was anybody's game at this point with Swann disappointingly, for the visitors, Volleying into the side netting from eight yards and at the other end Charters saved from Barber before Barber struck the cross bar from the resulting corner. Fuller went close with a dipping shot but the last fifteen minutes belonged to the visitors with Childs, Barker and Andrews working overtime to hold onto a well deserved point from a very entertaining game.

Saturday 20th March 2004 - Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  3, Hadleigh United 1 (2-1)

Team: Laurence Leggett, Alan Mills, Tom Childs, Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews, Micky Felgate (68 Morgan), Paul Berry, Bradley Barber, Robbie Fuller, Kevin Hudson (78 R Hunn), Liam Hunn

Barker 'from the half way line' confirmed the Seasiders win as the swirling wind deceived Godbold in the Hadleigh goal and he could only help Nicky Barkers Free kick into the goal. The win ended a five game run without a win for Felixstowe that stretched back to January 10th when Swaffham were defeated.
The home side forced two early corners with Barber having the first strike on goal from distance without troubling Godbold but Felixstowe maintained the momentum and were ahead on 12 minutes. Barker's free kick was not cleared by the visiting defence and Berry placed a telling cross from the right into the danger area and after a scramble Robbie Fuller claimed the final touch to open the scoring.
Leys defended well to block a shot from man of the match Liam Hunn from close range on 18 minutes but Hunn was not be denied and three minutes later unleashed an unsaveable strike from 25 yards that dipped under the bar to double the home side's lead.
Antony Cracknell was ploughing a lone furrow in attack for the visitors all afternoon and was rewarded for his persistence when he fired home a reply from the edge of the area after 28 minutes.  Encourage, the visitors stepped up the pace but Andrews and Barker ensured that Leggett in the home goal was trouble again in the opening period.

Beckett impressed for Hadleigh after the break and after claiming the ball from Barker had a clear run on goal until he hesitated on the ball giving Childs time to recover and clear the danger. Leggett was swiftly down to deny Beckett as he reacted quickly to a short back pass in a spell of pressure from Hadleigh. On the hour Fuller struck the cross bar under pressure following a good run out of defence by Childs and a good cross from Hunn on the left.
The result was all but decided on 66 minutes as Nicky Barker took a free kick just inside the Hadleigh half and with the swirling wind deceiving everyone the ball flew into the net off the outstretched Godbold into the Hadleigh goal. Both sides went in search of further goals but neither keeper were to be troubled with the Seasiders claiming a deserved three points.

Saturday 28th February 2004 - Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  0, Cambridge City Reserves 2 (0-0)

Team: Laurence Leggett, Chris Rogowski, Tom Childs, Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews, Matthew Morgan (60 Beddoes), Tom Trevivian (68 Berry), Bradley Barber, Liam Hunn, Kevin Hudson (75 Fuller), Shaun Pugh

The Seasiders matched second in the table Cambridge City in an entertaining first half with the visitors gaining control after the break to score twice through Abbott & Smith.
Paul Adams shuffled the pack with Pugh and Morgan making debut starts and performing with credit. Berry returning from Australia was named on the bench.
In good conditions Felixstowe started brightly forcing two early corners with Rice on hand to clear the danger for City. The Seasider's man of the match Bradley Barber, who had celebrated his 18th Birthday the day before, was close to getting a touch to Barker's 7th minute free kick with Pell causing problems for Leggett in the home goal as the visitors broke quickly but the Felixstowe keeper recovered to smother the danger.
Both sides were playing neat passing football and looking to keep possession and not give the ball away cheaply. City were forced to re-organise on 20 minutes after Rice limped from the field but they were soon back into their stride with both sides looking to press forward. Hunn headed Barker's free kick over the bar and with the snow getting heavier and the sky darkening the flood lights were required. The busy Childs was on hand to clear the danger after Leggett failed to hold Bulman's cross as City enjoyed a spell of concerted pressure. Hudson headed over the City bar with half time approaching and at the break honours were even.
Cambridge gradually took control after the break with the home side losing the fluency of the first period. Marc Abbott opened the scoring on 64 minutes with a well taken shot on the turn that flew across Leggett's goal into the left hand corner of the net, after the home side had failed to clear their lines and Hughes had delivered a telling cross into the area.
Both sides introduced their full set of substitutes but it was the visitors who maintained their tempo and on 78 minutes the three points were confirmed. The tireless Abbott saw his shot blocked but when the ball ran to Adam Smith on the edge of the Felixstowe area he composed himself and rifled the ball past the diving Leggett for a well taken goal.
The Seasiders pressed in search of a reply with City keeper Calton stretching to collect the ball under pressure from Fuller but it was Cambridge who came closest to finding the net again as Leggett made a finger tip save to deny Hughes' blistering shot from the edge of the area.
An entertaining game between two skilful sides with City maintaining their form for the full 90 minutes and fully deserving the three points that confirms second place in the table.

Saturday 21st February 2004 - Ridgeons League Division One
Ely City  1,  Felixstowe & Walton Utd. 0  (0-0)
Team: Laurence Leggett, Chris Rogowski, Ryan Hunn (63 Beddoes), Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews, Bradley Barber, Micky Felgate (72 L.Hunn), Kevin Hudson, Robbie Fuller, Tom Trevivian (84 Parry), Tom Childs
A single goal from Craig Donaldson in the 52nd minute decided an uninspiring contest in favour of the Robins at the Unwin Ground this afternoon.
The Seasiders welcomed back Andrews and Hudson on an afternoon when both sides looked as if they would have preferred the warmth of an open fire rather than the cold wind that blew across the fens directly from the arctic circle.
In a scrappy opening Donaldson tested Leggett in the visitors goal and a backward header from Fuller at the other end had Catley stretching to gather. Both sides struggled to gain any rhythm or pattern to their play but gradually the home side began to develop their game with Moye shooting wide from distance following good build up play from Taylor. Smith headed over from Donaldson's corner on the half hour and Rogowski did well to clear Smith's dangerous cross to safety, as the home side enjoyed a sustained spell of pressure.
Donaldson's shot on the turn found Leggett well positioned to gather as the Robins finished the half strongly without threatening to break the deadlock.

After a warming cup of the tea the spectators were hoping for an improved second half  and after seven minutes the home crowd were rewarded with the only goal of the game. Smith broke through the static Felixstowe defence close to the half way line and on reaching the edge of the area squared the ball to Craig Donaldson for a simple conversion into the unguarded net.
Felixstowe showed slightly increased urgency at this reversal but Barber's glancing header just wide of the Robins goal, four minutes later, following Trevivian's free kick was the closest the visitors came to a reply. Fuller took an extra touch on the edge of the area when a first time volley may have snatched a late equaliser but the chance was gone and the Robins deservedly took all three points from a match that will not live long in the memory. (what match would that be?)

Saturday 14th February 2004 - Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  1,  Godmanchester Rovers 3  (0-2)

Team: Laurence Leggett, Chris Rogowski, Ryan Hunn, Nick Barker, Michael Beddoes (32 Morgan), Micky Felgate (82 Pugh), Tom Trevivian, Bradley Barber, Robbie Fuller, Liam Hunn,Tom Childs

For the second week running the Seasiders found themselves two goals down at the interval and looking for a second half revival.
In an entertaining game Robbie Fuller's second half strike reduced the arrears, after Cooke had netted twice for the visitors, but the Goddy defence held firm with Substitute Kemp putting the result beyond doubt close to the final whistle.
Referee Andy Symonds was making his first visit to Dellwood Avenue and is pictured with Assistants Andy Chapman and David Sale.
Various absences forced a number of changes to the Seasiders line up but they started positively forcing two early corners with Childs going close from a difficult angle. Adam Cooke opened the scoring on 7 minutes, after the home defence failed to clear Goddy's first notable attack of the game, drilling the ball inside the unsighted Leggett's left had upright. Bigger produced a double save six minutes later, to keep his side ahead, blocking Hunns shot and recovering to parry away Barber's header at the expense of a corner.
Both teams were playing neat attractive football but the visitors again showed their cutting edge with the goal of the game on 25 minutes. Adam Cooke shimmied past two tackles before powerfully driving the ball into the left hand corner of the home goal past the diving Leggett and bringing applause from all.
Barber, Hunn and Fuller threatened for the Seasiders but it was the visitors who came closest to extending their lead with Leggett producing a good save to deny Cooke his hat-trick and Carminati firing the rebound against the bar.
After the break Trevivian, Hunn & Childs found more space down the flanks as Goddy struggled to recapture the tempo they had enjoyed before the interval. With Captain Barker encouraging his young team-mates forward Bigger was kept busy and just before the hour Robbie Fuller produced a dipping shot from the edge of the area that evaded the outstretched hand of the Rovers Keeper to set up an exciting last half hour. Confidence growing the Seasiders pressed forward with the visitors forced to defend in depth but Bigger was not to be beaten again and on the break substitute Howard Kemp confirmed the win with a well taken headed goal two minutes from time.
An entertaining game with Goddy deservedly claiming the points for their first half performance and the Seasiders encouraged by a strong all round performance, despite the result.

Saturday 7th February 2004 - Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  2,  Kirkley F.C. 2  (0-2)

Team: Laurence Leggett, Chris Rogowski (86Beddoes), Ryan Hunn, Nick Barker, Chris Kyle, Bradley Barber, Micky Felgate (66Thurkettle), Kevin Hudson, Robbie Fuller (76 Hunn), Mark Cooper, Tom Childs
Second half goals from Cooper and Barber, making his home debut, earned a point for the Seasiders after the visitors had held a comfortable interval lead through Stokeld and Le Compte.
Kirkley started brightly on their first ever visit to Dellwood Avenue with Ward shooting over from distance in only the second minute. The sides shared seven goals in the earlier game at Kirkley and that scoreline could have been bettered on an afternoon of flowing football that saw numerous scoring opportunities at both ends of the field.
Barber enjoyed a positive performance on his home debut, winning the man of the match award, and went close with a long range effort before the visitors opened the scoring on 12 minutes.
Leggett had been at his best to palm Danny Stokeld's shot over the bar after 10 minutes but could do little as the same player volleyed home two minutes later from 12 yards as he was found in space by Ward to complete a flowing move from the visitors.
In the first period the superior football came from Kirkley but Felixstowe created a number of chances with Cooper, Fuller and Kyle all seeing shots blocked. Fuller volleyed wide in search of an equaliser, from Barker's corner, but it was Kirkley who extended their lead eight minutes before the break.
Ward was the provider again collecting the ball on the edge of the Felixstowe area and passing to the unmarked Ben LeCompte who had time to steer the ball home past the diving Leggett.
Barber's dipping drive from 30 yards had Attridge back peddling in the Kirkly goal to tip the ball over his cross bar at the expense of a corner as the interval approached.

The Seasiders response was swift after the break with Mark Cooper scoring with less than 2 minutes on the watch after Attridge failed to hold Hunn's cross from the left. Encouraged, the home side played with greater confidence as the pace of the game stepped up a gear and both sides looked capable of increasing the goal tally with Glynn missing a good opportunity to confirm the win on the hour for the visitors.
Hudson showing great determination continued to keep the visiting defence on their toes with Cooper and Barker both going close before the equaliser eventually arrived ten minutes from time.
An excellent deep free kick from Barker dipped into the area with Bradley Barber lunging forward to head home from ten yards. The Seasiders certainly deserved the point following their second half performance and nearly snatched the winner as Attridge saved from Cooper in the closing minutes but, on balance, honours even was a fair result.

Saturday 17th January 2004 - Ridgeons League Division One
Downham Town  2,  Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  1   (0-1)

Team: Laurence Leggett, Chris Rogowski, Ryan Hunn (64 L Hunn), Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews, Micky Felgate, Kevin Hudson, Tom Trevivian (90 Cooper), Robbie Fuller (82 Barber), Tom Childs, Alan Mills
Substitute Chris Sainty snatched an injury time winner for Downham to produce a result which looked unlikely at the break after the Seasiders had dominated the first half.
A single Kevin Hudson goal, in that first period, was small reward given the level of possession enjoyed by the visitors and Felixstowe would regret not pressing home their advantage as Downham's attacks gathered momentum in the second half.
Paul Adams named the same side which had beaten Swaffham the previous week with mid-week signing Bradley Barber joining the squad on the bench. The heavy rain had relented as the Seasiders kicked off into a swirling wind and the visitors were quickly onto the attack.
Gajdzik in the home goal was kept busy, saving well to his left to force away Rogowski's shot from the edge of the area and then bravely fisting the ball off the head of Hudson following neat interplay between Mills and Trevivian. Childs and Hunn were creating space down the left and with Mills and Fuller dominant in midfield the home defence were at full stretch to keep them out.
The breakthrough came in the 25th minute with Kevin Hudson heading over the advanced Gajdzik on the edge of the area into the unguarded net. Leggett, a virtual spectator to this point in the Felixstowe goal, was quickly down to smother Hawes' shot and then palmed away Davies' shot at the expense of a corner as the home side posed their first real threat.
Felixstowe finished the half strongly and should have been further ahead but had to settle for a one goal interval lead.

Fendley spurned an excellent opportunity to equalise straight from the re-start but pushed his shot wide of an upright. Leggett was then quickly down to deny Plummer as Downham posted their intention to improve in the second period.
Childs had a shot blocked as Felixstowe battled to regain their hold on the game but the fluency and cohesion of the first half had gone and as the weather deteriorated further the home side looked increasingly dangerous.
A clash of heads on the hour saw Ryan Hunn replaced by his brother Liam who shot narrowly wide of goal when unchallenged from the edge of the area.
Jonathan Hawes increased his contribution and on 74 minutes produced the equaliser with a low shot from 12 yards. With the rain teaming down the surface became difficult but Hawes was making light of the conditions and suddenly it was the visitors looking for the final whistle as they lost their shape. With the draw now looking likely Hawes took a free kick 25 yards out and when the ball ran lose in the area substitute Chris Sainty pounced to force home the winner from eight yards, to the delight of the home fans.

Saturday 10th January 2004 - Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  2,  Swaffham Town 0   (0-0)
Team: Laurence Leggett, Chris Rogowski, Ryan Hunn, Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews, Micky Felgate (Cooper 77), Kevin Hudson (Pugh 90), Tom Trevivian (L Hunn 90), Robbie Fuller, Tom Childs, Alan Mills
A dream First Team debut for Chris Rogowski as he sealed the win, against third in the table Swaffham Town, with a 35 yard screamer into the top corner of the net. Tom Childs had earlier pounced on a lose ball in the box to provide the opener and the win was just reward for an excellent all round team performance that showed commitment from start to finish.
Mike Bacon's prediction that the Seasiders could influence the promotion places, in the morning paper, rang true at Dellwood Avenue this afternoon as did Manager Paul Adam's assertion that the side's play improved against more senior opposition.
In a first half, that flowed from end to end, Felixstowe showed determination in all areas of the field and could have been ahead at the break if Cook had not produced a good save to deny Mills and Hudson's shot had not struck the woodwork.
Moore headed wide of the Felixstowe goal with the first opening of the game after five minutes with Fuller responding with a curling shot that just evaded the visitors right hand post. Seales should have opened the scoring for the Pedlars when found in space 10 yards out but spooned his chance over the bar. A flowing move involving Childs and Trevivian ended with Hudson shooting from the edge of the area and after the ball struck the foot of a post the Swaffham  defence scrambled the ball away for a corner.
Laurence Leggett, making his home debut produced an excellent save shortly after the restart to turn Fowler's shot from the edge of the area around the post for a corner. As the visitors turned up the pressure the home defence proved equal to the test with Ryan Hunn clearing off the line to deny Seales with the keeper beaten.
The Seasiders responded with Cook saving well to gather from Mill's free kick after Childs had been fouled 25 yards out. On 56 minutes the deadlock was broken when a deep cross from Rogowski saw Fuller and Mace challenge for the ball and as it ran lose in the box Tommy Childs took advantage of defensive indecision to pounce and score into an empty net.
Confidence rushed through the team and eight minutes later the lead was doubled when debutant Chris Rogowski collected the ball wide on the right striking the ball from 35 yards into the top left hand corner of the net over the diving Cook.
Swaffham made their substitutions and pressed forward in strength forcing a succession of corners but the defence well marshalled by Barker and Andrews showed great resolve blocking a number goal bound attempts.
With concentration maintained to the final whistle the Seasiders recorded their first victory over the Pedlars at the sixth attempt.

Tuesday 6th January 2004 - Harwich Charity Cup Quarter Final
Woodbridge Town 3,  Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  1  (1-0)
Team: Adam Wilson, Tom Trevivian, Ryan Hunn, Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews (Kyle), Michael Felgate, David Thurkettle (Hudson), Liam Hunn (Parry), Robbie Fuller,  Mark Cooper, Tom Childs
The Woodpeckers eased through to the semi-final of the Senior section of the Harwich Charity Cup, where they will play Long Melford or Cornard United at Notcutts Park, following a home win over the Seasiders. Felixstowe played neat passing football, notably in the first half, but it was the Premier division side that showed the greater sharpness in front of goal.
The Seasiders were quickly into their passing game from the kick off without penetrating the home defence that was happy to defend deep. The Woodpeckers first attack of the game provided the opening goal as Edwards broke positively down the left before switching play to find the busy Artun on the right whose cross was stroked home from close range by Steve Dearsley. The neat build up play continued from Felixstowe with Felgate, Fuller and Childs all looking to progress through midfield but the home defence prevented any clear sight on goal.
Wilson saved from Stockwell as Woodbridge looked to increase their lead and when the ball came back off the Felixstowe crossbar, following  a free kick, Bailey fired the ball wide with the goal at his mercy.
Ager rose well to deny Fuller at the expense of a corner and Thurkettle had Peat scurrying along his goal line as the shot, and Felixstowe's best effort of the half, narrowly missed the right hand upright.
After the break the home side took control of the game with Wilson blocking shots from Dearsley and McGlone as they went in search of the second which came in the 55th minute from Dwayne Edward's bullet shot from wide on the left of the area that zipped past the diving Wilson.
The introduction of Kevin Hudson to support Cooper in attack was rewarded on 72 minutes when he rose to head powerfully home from Trevivian's cross from the right following a strong run from Childs. Hopes of a comeback and possible extra time were short lived as three minutes later Adam Sadler headed home from Artun's cross to confirm the win the for the Woodpeckers, we wish them well in the next round.

Boxing Day, Friday 26th December 2003 - Ridgeons League Division One
Ipswich Wanderers 0,  Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  2   (0-1)
Team: Laurence Leggett, Alan Mills, Ryan Hunn, Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews, Tom Trevivian, Tom Childs (Felgate 43), Liam Hunn, Robbie Fuller,  Mark Cooper, David Thurkettle
Wanderers enjoyed the greater share of possession but created few scoring opportunities as uncharacteristic defensive mistakes saw them lose at home for only the second time in the league this season.
The Seasiders, after a run of four league defeats, will have gained confidence from this local derby win with Liam Hunn slotting home from close range after eight minutes and a second half o/g, following persistence from Tom Trevivian, securing a much needed three points.
Showing little signs of a Christmas hangover when the game kicked off at 11am both sides forced a number of early corners with the Seasiders profiting from one in the 8th minute. Having made an excellent save to deny Mills with a dipping shot, Stannard failed to hold a Thurkettle cross from the left and Liam Hunn was first to the lose ball to open the scoring.
Laurence Leggett, making his debut in goal for the Seasiders,  saved low to deny Buck as the home side stepped up the pressure. With Dozzell distributing the ball well and Bickers and Lowe willing runners the Wanderers enjoyed good possession but lacked penetration in the final third. Leggett was thankful to collect the ball after it cannoned around the six yard area without a final touch on the half hour, but that apart was little troubled in the opening half. Tommy Childs suffered a facial cut just before the break, requiring hospital treatment, with Felgate taking his place.
Ebanks headed over the Felixstowe bar on 52 minutes as Wanderers continued to press before the visitors extended their lead two minutes later. A slide rule pass from Fuller found Trevivian who shrugged off a tackle to thread the ball diagonally across the area with the unfortunate Ebanks diverting the ball passed his keeper, and although Stannard scrambled back in an attempt to retrieve the ball it eventually crossed the line.
With 15 minutes remaining Carl David fired over the bar what proved to be the home sides best chance of the half as he shot on the turn following another good run from Bickers. Barker and Andrews ensured the defence Felixstowe remained well organised and maintained their concentration to the final whistle to send the travelling Seasiders home happy.

Saturday 20th December 2003 - Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  2, March Town United 3   (1-2)
Team: Adam Wilson, Tom Trevivian, Ryan Hunn, Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews, Chris Kyle, Alan Mills, Tom Childs, Robbie Fuller, Liam Hunn (Hudson 58), David Thurkettle (Cooper 73)
The Hares recovered from an early Liam Hunn goal for the Seasiders to hold a half time lead thanks to a brace from James Horner. Ten man Felixstowe, following the first half dismissal of Mills, drew level through Hudson before Wayte claimed the victory for March to take them above their hosts in the table this evening.
The home side held the early advantage winning several corners and Keeper Brooks was down quickly down to block Thurkettle's shot as the rain teamed down at the start of the match. The opening goal arrived in the ninth minute following a corner which the visiting defence failed to clear and in the ensuing scramble Liam Hunn steered the ball home.
Pressure was maintained on the March goal without the Seasiders adding to their lead and gradually the visitors increased their share of possession. Brand and Peters both saw shots go wide before the equaliser came in the 28th minute. James Horner had looked increasingly dangerous and his shot from 12 yards found the back of the net, despite the best efforts of Wilson who blocked the shot and took the pace off the ball but could not prevent the goal.
The Referees attention was drawn to the Assistants flag on 39 minutes and Felixstowe were reduced to ten men as Mills was dismissed for an off the ball incident. The home side took time to regain their shape and shortly before the interval James Horner found space on the edge of the Felixstowe area to advance and fire home from 12 yards.
March continued on top after the break and not until the introduction of Hudson did the Seasiders suggest they would recover. Thurkettle took a long range free kick on 64 minutes which Brooks could not hold and Kevin Hudson pounced on the loose ball to fire home the equaliser. Encouraged, the home side went in search of a winner but following a good run down the right Roe was allowed to continue into the area and his cross was tapped in by Andy Wayte from close range.
Cooper produced a good save from Brooks as the Felixstowe substitute made an immediate impact on the game, but it was March who finished the game the stronger with Paton striking the Felixstowe bar from a long range shot just before the final whistle.

Saturday 6th December 2003 - Ridgeons League Division One
Stanway Rovers  2,  Felixstowe & Walton Utd.   0  (1-0)
Team: Adam Wilson, Lee Parry, Ryan Hunn, Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews, Alan Mills, Tom Trevivian, Liam Hunn, Robbie Fuller, Kevin Hudson, Tom Childs
A goal on the half hour and a second soon after the interval saw Rovers comfortably collect all three points this afternoon. The Seasiders showed greater enthusiasm for the game in the second half but rarely threatened the home goal.
Felixstowe named an unchanged side for the visit to the Hawthorns this afternoon and were forced to defend in depth for much of the opening period. English had a number of shots blocked with Wilson at full stretch to save from Campbell as the visitors found difficulty in retaining the ball. Hunn and Hudson were willing running front runners for the Seasiders on the counter but the greater threat continued to come from the home side with Andrews clearing off the line after the dangerous Johnston had headed goalward over the advancing Wilson.
Felixstowe's best opening of the half, created by Mills, saw Childs shoot wide of Church's right hand post, but the pressure from the home side eventually told on the half hour when Richard Schultz rose to head home from English's corner.
With the interval approaching Hunn headed wide following a good run and cross from Trevivian but it was the home that finished on top as Wilson saved with his feet to deny Henson at the expense of a corner, the home sides twelfth of the half against one for the Seasiders.
Felixstowe showed greater effort and application in the second half after conceding an early goal from a well struck shot by James Clewley from the edge of the area.
Competing and looking to pass the ball, Felixstowe enjoyed a greater share of possession but failed to test Church in the home goal, with a comfortably held shot from Hudson his only examination.
Wilson produced a good save at full stretch to parry a Johnston shot for a corner as the home side continued to pose the greater threat in front of goal, to end the game deserved winners.

Monday 1st December 2003 - Ridgeons League Division One
Cornard United  2,    Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  1   (2-1)
Team: Adam Wilson, Lee Parry, Ryan Hunn, Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews, Kevin Hudson, Tom Trevivian (Cooper 84), Alan Mills, Robbie Fuller, Liam Hunn, Tom Childs
Despite taking an early lead, the Seasider's away form deserted them resulting in defeat to a Cornard side deservedly claiming all three points with controlled, passing football.
On a good evening for football Felixstowe were quickly on the attack and forced a corner in the third minute when Hudson's shot was deflected wide. Trevivian's corner kick was met by Alan Mills to head home the opening goal from six yards. The lead was to last for just a minute before Guyon's cross found Scott Baxter 12 yards out and his looping header evaded Wilson in the Felixstowe goal for the equaliser.
Following two goals in the first five minutes the game settled down with neither side able to create the telling finish until three minutes from the interval when Cornard edged ahead. Evason produced a decisive run down the right flank with Andrews ending the run at the expense of a corner. Rayner took the corner kick and Darren Bethell rose to head home unchallenged and give the home side a narrow interval lead.
Child's worked hard making a number of telling runs for the Seasiders with Fuller and Hunn both going close as Felixstowe went in search of a reply, but Cornard's controlled passing took the impetuous out of the visitors response which gradually faded.
Barker hit the side netting in injury time from distance as Felixstowe launched one last attack but on the night the Seasiders were second best to the home side.

Saturday 29th November 2003 - Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  0,   Long Melford  3   (0-0)
Team: Adam Wilson, Alan Mills, Chris Kyle, Nick Barker, Morgan 81), Jimmy Andrews, Kevin Hudson, Tom Trevivian (Parry 68), Tom Childs, Robbie Fuller, Liam Hunn, Ryan Hunn
Three second half goals, on a wet and windy afternoon at Dellwood Avenue, saw the visitors comfortably collect all three points after the Seasiders failed to come to terms with the conditions after the interval.
With wind advantage Long Melford were quickly on the attack winning three corners in the first two minutes and Arnold completed the passage of play spooning the ball over the bar from fourteen yards. Both sides worked hard to play football in the testing conditions with the visitors enjoying the greater share of possession without severely testing Wilson in the home goal. Liam Hunn linked well with his brother Ryan on 24 minutes with Liam's shot blocked at the expense of a corner as Felixstowe tested the Long Melford defence. Wilson produced a good save to deny Howe's long range shot on the half hour diving full length to his left as Long Melford continued to create opportunities.
The home side gradually increased their influence on the game as half time approached and Fuller saw his close range effort blocked by Battell on the line.
After the interval Felixstowe failed to take advantage of the wind and rain to their backs, playing long balls forward that were difficult for the forwards to control. Long Melford, in contrast, played the ball on the ground against the wind and were ahead on 53 minutes when Neil Hesketh rose unchallenged to head home Irvine's corner kick.
Athey was down well to save from Child's long range shot minutes later but was not tested further as the home side lost their shape and went further behind on 75 minutes. Irvine's shot from the edge of the area ballooned into the air off a defender and when Wilson failed to hold the ball in the swirling wind Philip Battell pounced to stab the ball home from close range. With four minutes remaining Dean Stalker tried his luck from a similar position and again the ball was blocked by a defender rising over the Felixstowe keeper and this time looping into the net, to complete a comprehensive victory for Long Melford.

Tuesday 25th November 2003 - Ridgeons League Cup
Maldon Town 1,  Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  0  (1-0)

Team: Adam Wilson, Lee Parry, Chris Kyle, Nick Barker (Beddoes 74, Morgan 81), Jimmy Andrews, Alan Mills, Tom Trevivian (Capon 77), Tom Childs, Robbie Fuller, Liam Hunn, Ryan Hunn
A single goal after 15 minutes from Maldon's Tommy Noble separated the sides at a windy Wallace Binder Ground this evening. The home side's premiership qualities were evident but the Seasiders were never overawed and created chances themselves in a an entertaining game.
Maldon took the game to the visitors from the first whistle with swift accurate passing and switching play from flank to flank. Dobson finished a move he had started after 12 minutes producing the first save of the game from Wilson as he met Noble's centre with power bringing the best out the young Felixstowe keeper.
Wilson made a number of fine saves on the night to restrict Maldon to a single goal which came on 15 minutes. Following a swift attack Huttley produced a telling cross from the left for Tommy Noble to head powerfully home.
Mills responded with a long range shot over the bar and although the Seasiders built a number of first half attacks Cattley was not really tested in the home goal, with a comfortable save from Fuller's shot on target Felixstowe's closest effort of the half.
After the break Maldon continued to press forward at pace but tended to over elaborate, allowing Barker and Andrews at the heart of defence, time to clear the danger. Cattley saved well to deny Ryan Hunn on 65 minutes as Felixstowe threatened to equalise and with Childs and Mills both prepared to shoot from distance the home side could not rest on their narrow advantage.
Maldon advance to the third round draw, in which we wish them luck, and the Seasiders with seven players under 20, will gain confidence from the performance against Premier opposition,

Saturday 22nd November 2003 - Ridgeons League Division One
Somersham Town 2,  Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  3  (0-2)

Team: Adam Wilson, Alan Mills, Chris Kyle, Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews, Kevin Hudson, Tom Trevivian (Parry 79), Tom Childs, Robbie Fuller, Liam Hunn (Capon 86), Ryan Hunn (Gray92)
In the pouring rain the Seasiders had to work hard to claim all three points after taking a two goal lead inside the first twenty minutes, but failing to drive home their advantage.
Somersham fought their way back into the game, as Felixstowe spurned opportunities, with two second half goals but a fortunate free kick enabled the Seasiders to win the game which their all round play deserved.
The flood lights were on from the start and the small crowd sheltered together in the stand as the home side kicked off and forced an early corner. Ryan Hunn linked with his brother to good effect down the left and Liam Hunn outpaced the home defence to cross for Tom Childs to steer home the opening goal from 8 yards in only the second minute.
The quick ball to the fast forwards was to be a feature of the early play for the Seasiders with Hunn and Fuller both going close to extending the lead.
Wilson collected a long free kick from Osborn under pressure but it was the visitors who extended their lead on 18 minutes. Else in the home goal did well to scramble the ball away from the dangerous Hunn at the expense of a corner, and when delivered by Childs Kevin Hudson rose to power home the second.
Felixstowe continued to build their attacks without adding to the score with Hugill creating the best opportunities for the home side with a header and shot wide of the target as Somersham enjoyed a brief spell of pressure. Felixstowe finished the half in charge with Mills shooting wide following a surging run.
Somersham emerged from the break in more determined mood and ten minutes after the restart pulled a goal back. With the Felixstowe back line appealing for off side Osborn raced down the left wing and crossed for Paul Wilkinson to slide in and score. Unfortunately Wilkinson was injured in scoring and later had to leave the field to be replaced by Green.
The two goal lead was restored within three minutes following a melee in the home goal when the unfortunate Else was adjudged to have collected a back pass. With the defence on the goal line Andrews touched the free kick to Alan Mills who hammered the ball home through the crowded goal mouth.
With Felixstowe dominating the points looked safe, but with injury time approaching Robson delivered a telling free kick into the area for Carl Osborn to steer home.
The travelling fans had to endure a nervous last few minutes but Wilson was not troubled again and the Seasiders saw out time for the win.

Tuesday 18th November 2003 - Ridgeons League Division One Cup, 1st Round
Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  0,  Ipswich Wanderers  0  aet
Ipswich Wanderers won 4-3 on penalties
Team: Adam Wilson, Alan Mills, Ryan Hunn,  Nick Barker (Kyle 45), Jimmy Andrews, Dean Sadler, Kevin Hudson (Thurkettle 68), Ismail Etti, Robbie Fuller, Liam Hunn, Tom Childs,
Following a game of few scoring opportunities the local derby was decided from the penalty spot with the Wanderers progressing to the second round 4-3.
On an excellent night for football both sides produced plenty of movement box to box but with both defences having the upper hand goalmouth incidents were at a premium. Hunn's shot into the side netting and Sadler's drive wide of the target provided the Seasiders best first half moments. Wanderers finished the half with a late surge as Flurrie blasted over and Wilson was down quickly to deny Tricker a sight of goal just before the break.
Unfortunately the Referee Trevor Poulton sustained a leg injury and was unable to continue after the break with Assistant Kevin Grimwood taking the whistle. Wanderers substitute Kevin Morrison took the flag and we would like to thank him for volunteering and doing an excellent job.
The only clear opening of the second half saw Liam Hunn head over the bar from close range and with legs tiring the game went into extra time.
Stannard was left stranded 35 yards from goal as Etti collected the ball, he chose to sprint for goal rather than speculate with a long range shot and by the time Hunn had collected the ball from Etti's pass Stannard had regained his ground to make the save.
Trevivian struck a post for the Seasiders with Stannard beaten for the first time as the Seasiders started to open the visiting defence but failed to find a finish. With time running down Wilson saved from Keys as Wanderers enjoyed a spell of pressure but the match remained goalless.
There was to be no repeat of the penalty win in the last round with Stannard saving Andrew's shot and Keys scoring the final penalty for Wanderers to see them through 4-3.

Saturday 15th November 2003 - Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  1, Leiston 3  (0-3)
Team: Adam Wilson, Alan Mills, Ryan Hunn,  Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews, Dean Sadler, Tom Trevivian, Tom Childs, Robbie Fuller, Liam Hunn, David Thurkettle (Etti 52)
A goal down after just 40 seconds the Seasiders responded well, but Leiston's positive striking force saw them three goals ahead at the interval. Felixstowe pulled a goal back after the break and Fenn produced two excellent saves to ensure the visitors claimed all three points.
Felixstowe enjoyed the greater share of possession but were restricted to long range shots in the first half with Childs and Trevivian going close without testing Fenn in the visitors goal. Leiston were more positive in the final third and had the best possible start with a goal in the first minute. Craig Taylor rose unmarked to head against the bar with the ball rebounding onto the unfortunate Wilson and into the net.
Felixstowe earned a succession of corners without a telling strike before Driver went close to doubling the lead as Leiston broke quickly, but he looped the ball over both the advancing Wilson and the cross bar.
The home side worked tirelessly in midfield through Sadler and Fuller but were kept at arms length by Goddard and Wright. On 26 minutes the visitors extended their lead when Taylor received the ball 35 yards from goal and ran on virtually unchallenged to steer the ball past the diving Wilson. Felixstowe pressed forward with the visitors happy to attack on the break, which they did with great effect. On 31 minutes Carl Chenery scored the third when he rose unchallenged to head home Saker's cross from the right.
Liam Hunn continued to look the most likely to open the Leiston defence and his shot on the turn just before the break produced Fenn's first real save of the game.
With the game effectively won Leiston defended in depth after the interval  content to wait their opportunity on the break with Fryer providing an excellent target in attack.
Felixstowe continued to probe and with 15 minutes remaining scored through the lively Liam Hunn, who turned in the area and fired past Fenn. Goddard made a determined effort to keep the ball out but the Seasiders were back in the game.
Encouraged, Felixstowe pressed forward and a  minute later Fenn produced a excellent diving save to deny Mills at the expense of a corner. On 34 minutes it was Fenn again that kept Felixstowe out with a world class save from Sadler who's sweetly struck 20 yard volley was dipping under the bar before the Leiston keeper acrobatically palmed the ball onto the bar and away for a corner.
The Leiston defence held firm for the remaining 15 minutes to claim three points from an entertaining and competitive game.

Tuesday 11th November 2003 - Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  2,  Needham Market 1  (0-0)
Team: Adam Wilson, Alan Mills, Ryan Hunn,  Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews, Dean Sadler, Tom Trevivian (Parry 90), Liam Hunn, Robbie Fuller (Kyle 88), David Thurkettle, Tom Childs
Two second half goals from Alan Mills secured all three points for the Seasiders with Kevin Folkard netting five minutes from time for the visitors to ensure a tense finish to the game.
The first period was played at a fast pace with plenty of honest endeavour from both sides but lacked any real goal mouth action. Leveridge's looping header over the home cross bar from Sandiland's cross in the 14th minute marked the first threat on goal by either side and Mills fired a shot across the Needham goal three minutes later.
Wilson saved at his near post from Sandiland's downward header at the expense of a corner as the visitors put the goal under pressure without threatening to break the deadlock.
The Seasiders looked sharper after the break with Childs busy in midfield and Liam Hunn finding space behind the visiting defence. The home side edged ahead on 52 minutes when a precision free kick from Thurkettle was met by Alan Mills at the near post to head powerfully home from eight yards. Folkard and Sandilands shot wide for the visitors before the Seasiders doubled their lead with a near replica of the first goal on 79 minutes.  This time it was Thurkettle's corner kick from the right that was met by Alan Mills, again with his head from eight yards, to bag his brace.
Liam Hunn outstripped the Needham defence with Nunn blocking the shot to deny Felixstowe a third. With the Seasiders surrendering a two goal in the previous two games a nervous last five minutes was assured when Kevin Folkard seized onto a lose ball on the edge of the Felixstowe area to fire home an excellent shot into the top right hand corner of the net.
On this occasion the Seasiders were not to be denied and held on to claim all three points

Saturday 8th November 2003 - Ridgeons League Division One
Hadleigh United  2,  Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  2,  (0-2)
Team: Adam Wilson, Alan Mills, Tom Childs, Nick Barker, Chris Kyle, Dean Sadler, Tom Trevivian, Liam Hunn, Robbie Fuller, Ismail Etti, David Thurkettle (Parry 88).
The Seasiders surrendered a 2-0 half time lead for the second week running and had to settle for a point at the Millfield.
Three changes from last Saturday, on the visitors team sheet, with Tom Trevivian making his first Senior start. Chris Kyle came in for the absent Andrews, David Thurkettle returned with Felgate sidelined by injury and Ryan Hunn was away on Suffolk County duty for the Under18 side in Jersey.
Felixstowe were positive from the start and were good value for their first half lead which could have been greater given the opportunities created. Hadleigh posed little threat in the first half but after the break showed greater commitment which brought them a share of the points.
Liam Hunn had the ball in the net after three minutes, only to be ruled off-side, as Felixstowe put the home side under early pressure. Whitwell produced an excellent diving save to deny Fuller at the expense of a corner as Thurkettle and Trevivian produced a number of excellent crosses to trouble the Hadleigh defence.
Cracknell posed the greatest threat to the visiting defence as he headed wide from Oake's cross after ten minutes. Hunn hit a post from an acute angle before Etti spurned the best opening so far heading wide from six yards. Childs made a number of good runs from midfield and forced a good save from Whitwell before the break through eventually came on 26 minutes. After Trevivian's shot was blocked for a corner Thurkettle produced a fierce in swinging corner kick that Whitwell could help into his own net.
Wilson was pleased to see Oake's header hit the woodwork as Hadleigh had their best spell of the half with Kyle making a number of decisive clearances.
After a narrow escape, as they cleared off their line, the Hadleigh defence conceded a second goal on the stroke of half time when Liam Hunn latched onto a loose ball and beat the keeper from six yards.
Danny Lynch reduced the arrears six minutes after the restart when his speculative shot from all of 30 yards was not held by Wilson and the ball spun off the unfortunate Felixstowe keeper and just over the line as he scrambled to retrieve it.
The home side grew in confidence but still the Seasiders created enough opportunities to close out the game out with Etti twice hitting the bar with Whitwell beaten, and Hunn and Fuller both shooting wide.
With 14 minutes remaining the sides were level after Felixstowe defended poorly and as the ball was fired back into the danger area Kieron Donovan provided the telling touch to steer the ball past the stranded Wilson. Sadler saw red, after showing commitment in midfield all afternoon, when he received his second yellow card and the Seasiders played out the closing minutes with ten men.

Saturday 1st November 2003 - Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  2,   Thetford Town  2  (2-0)
Team: Adam Wilson, Alan Mills, Ryan Hunn, Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews, Micky Felgate, Dean Sadler, Liam Hunn (Trevivian 53), Robbie Fuller, Ismail Etti, Tom Childs
Two goals ahead after eleven minutes, through Childs and Fuller, the Seasiders were firmly in control but failed to drive home their advantage and gradually lost their grip on the game. After the break Thetford steadily gained momentum, deservedly gaining a point with goals from Smith & Fowler.
The Seasiders held the early advantage but Wilson had to be alert to deny Woods the opening goal for Thetford after only three minutes when Fowler had won the ball in midfield and beaten the home defence with a telling pass. Following a succession of corners Felixstowe were ahead on 5 minutes as Tom Childs drilled the ball home from six yards after a pass from Etti. Five minutes later and the lead was doubled as Robbie Fuller netted following Child's well taken corner kick.
The Seasiders were firmly in control at this stage with Liam Hunn and Etti finding space behind the visiting defence, which survived strong appeals for a penalty after Etti went down in the box.
With half time approaching Thetford increased their share of possession and a telling pass from Richards found Bellingham in space but his shot was well blocked by Wilson who recovered to claim the follow up header from Woods. Mills cleared off the Felixstowe line after Wilson missed a long through ball but the home goal survived to the interval.
Looking to regain control Felixstowe pressed forward after the break with Snowden, in the Thetford goal, pleased to see Sadler's deep cross narrowly evade his far post. Fuller saw his 20 yard shot cannon off the visitor's cross bar but most of the constructive play now belonged to Thetford. Davies and Richards both shot wide when well placed before the reply came on 70 minutes. Conroy's well flighted cross from the left was met by Tom Smith who rose unchallenged to head home from six yards.
Confidence raised, the visitors pressed for an equaliser and with ten minutes remaining Mark Fowler skipped into the area, rounding the stranded Wilson, to bring the sides level.
Felixstowe will be disappointed to have relinquished the early advantage but Thetford were good value for their point and Fowler nearly snatched all three in the closing seconds.

Tuesday 28th October 2003 - Ridgeons League Cup 1st Round
Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  2,  Fakenham Town 1  (1-1)
Team: Adam Wilson, Alan Mills, Ryan Hunn, Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews, Dean Sadler, David Thurkettle (74), Liam Hunn, Robbie Fuller, Ismail Etti, Tom Childs
A goal after just 53 seconds from Ben Calver saw the Ghosts off to the best possible start at Dellwood Avenue this evening before two goals from Liam Hunn saw the Seasiders through to the 2nd Round draw.
Ismail Etti returned after a three game absence for the Seasiders with Liam Hunn and Dean Sadler the other changes from Tuesday. Having been delayed on their journey from West Norfolk the visitors were quickly into their stride creating the first opening with only 53seconds on Mr Pollard's watch as Ben Calver steered the ball past the outstretched left arm of Adam Wilson in the home goal. With Magee directing affairs and Calver and Pierce willing runners the Ghosts enjoyed a good opening spell before the Seasiders gradually imposed themselves on the game.
Etti made a number of good runs but failed to find the final quality ball to trouble Nicholls in the visitors goal. Sadler clipped the Fakenham cross bar from 20 yards as the Seasiders got closer to the equaliser and Fuller also struck the bar from close range following Thurkettle's precision cross.
With seconds remaining to the break Liam Hunn worked his way into the area and though Nicholls got a hand to his shot he could not prevent the ball from nestling in the left hand corner of the goal.
Felixstowe controlled the second half creating a number of scoring opportunities, most falling to Etti, with Fakenham always looking dangerous on the break. Nine minutes after the restart the home side edged ahead through a penalty after Liam Hunn had been bundled over. The Felixstowe number 8 got to his feet and made no mistake with a powerful strike from 12 yards. The home side were well on top at this point but failed to convert a number of chances and were nearly made to pay for missed opportunities when Howard fired wide when well placed following a flowing move involving Darby and Calver.
Fakenham pressed for the equaliser, that would have brought extra time, without gaining a clear strike on goal and the Seasiders progressed to the second round draw.

Tuesday 21st October 2003 - Suffolk Premier Cup 1st Round
Bury Town 8,  Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  0  (1-0)
Team: Adam Wilson, Lee Parry (Morgan 70), Ryan Hunn, Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews, Chris Kyle, Alan Mills, David Thurkettle, Robbie Fuller, Gavin Evans,Tom Childs (Capon 70)
The Seasiders travelled to Bury looking forward to the game and the challenge of playing Premier opposition. It was always going to be a testing experience but the final outcome proved very disappointing as the defence, having held firm for an hour, capitulated conceding seven second half goals.
Both sides were able to play passing football on an excellent surface with Ben Munro forcing the the first save from Wilson as he dived to his left to save in the eighth minute. Munro continued to impress as he created an opportunity for Thorogood to shoot wide before his corner kick on 13 minutes was headed home by captain Andrew Eady.
With Barker and Andrews defending well Bury's opportunities were kept at a distance with Tatham and Thorogood producing the best first half efforts to increase the lead.
The speed of Gavin Evans tested the Bury defence on more than occasion and his run and cross from the right flank created the Seasiders best opening of the half with Thurkettle shooting wide.
Mills fired over the Bury bar and Evans used his to force a save from Cudworth as the Seasiders stared the second half brightly but the game took a dramatic turn on the hour after James Tatham fired home from 12 yards to double the lead. The visiting defence was blown away by the Bury attack as  Neil Wake  increased the lead 2 minutes later after the ball ran lose 10 yards from goal. James Tatham scored his second as he was allowed to stand ten yards behind the Felixstowe defence and receive the ball from a throw in, Wilson saved the initial shot but Thatham hammered home the rebound. the Bury forwards were now lining up to score with James Crown making it five with 14 minutes remaining and substitute Glen Snell making it a night to forget for the Seasiders as he smashed home a hat-trick in three minutes to complete the rout.

Saturday 18th October 2003 - F.A. Vase 1st Round Proper
Enfield Town 2,  Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  0  (0-0)
Team: Adam Wilson, Alan Mills, Ryan Hunn, Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews,  Dean Sadler, David Thurkettle (Evans  77), Tom Childs, Robbie Fuller, Liam Hunn, Chris Kyle
Two late goals from Enfield substitutes Nash and Grant saw The Town into the 2nd round draw on Monday. The Seasider's strong defensive performance looked to be taking the tie into extra time but the home side deservedly went through by virtue of their second half pressure.
Both sides struggled to play passing football on an arid pitch which contributed to a number of missed opportunities notably Cove for the Town and Fuller for the Seasiders, both losing their footing when poised to shoot.
On a sunny autumn afternoon the sizeable home crowd, many camped behind Wilson's goal, displayed patience as the Essex Senior League leaders failed to test the visiting keeper before the break. The home sides best opportunity had been created by the dangerous Allen with his precision cross headed narrowly wide of the Felixstowe goal in the 19th minute by Brotherton. The only corner of the half was won by the visitors following a good run from Ryan Hunn. Sadlers corner kick was met by Andrews who pulled his shot narrowly wide. A strong run from Child's saw his rising shot clear the home crossbar with both keepers still to be seriously tested.
The second half started as it was to continue, with Town on top, as they forced a corner from the restart. Nash, on for the injured Riley, was able to find space in midfield on more that one occasion  to shoot from distance but failed to test Wilson, although he was grateful to Brotherton's fierce strike shake the cross bar on 51 minutes.
The Felixstowe keeper came under increasing pressure dealing well with high balls into the area, and the friendly banter from behind the goal. The visiting back line defended excellently and the travelling fans were pleased to see the impressive Andrews recover from an ankle injury on the hour. Town made a double substitution with Grant and Miller sent into action as the home side went for the win but as Smith shot wide with the goal at his mercy extra time was looking increasingly likely.
A long kick from Town keeper Hall had Wilson back pedalling and parrying the ball over his cross at the expense of a corner before the deadlock was finally broken in the 83rd minute. A poor clearance was seized on by Millar and his long deep cross was not adequately dealt with and when the ball eventually fell to Wayne Grant he made no mistake from eight yards.
Fuller was pushed forward in search of a quick response and he was only denied by the first real save of the half by Hall. With Felixstowe committing players to attack they were caught on the break in the second minute of injury time as Jason Nash capped a good personal performance with a goal from a well taken shot on the edge of the area.

We would like to thank Enfield Town for their hospitality and wish them every success in the next round.

Friday 10th October 2003 - Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  3,    Ely City  1  (2-1)
Team: Adam Wilson, Alan Mills, Ryan Hunn, Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews,  Dean Sadler, David Thurkettle (Evans  77),  Micky Felgate, Robbie Fuller, Liam Hunn (Kyle 88), Tom Childs
The Seasiders took their chances on a night when both sides looked dangerous in front of goal to confirm their position in the top half of the table, moving into sixth place.
Cornwell was allowed to run through a static home defence on eleven minutes but his cross flew across the Felixstowe goal without an Ely forward able to gain a touch which would have opened the scoring.
Liam Hunn fired home the opener from the penalty spot after being pushed in the area on 16 minutes. Ten minutes later it was all square as Gary Dewsbury tapped home a deserved equaliser off a post from close range for The Robins. Despite enjoying the greater share of possession in the first half the visitors were behind at the interval after Robbie Fuller volleyed home Liam Hunn's pass from midfield. Cornwell continued to pose a threat but his shot before the break was comfortably collected by Wilson.
Six minutes after the re-start Alan Mills put the home side 3-1 ahead and Fuller and Hunn both threatened to extend the lead with shots from both players cannoning off the Ely bar and away to safety. Despite a number opportunities for Cornwell, Pammeter and Green to reduce the defecite the Felixstowe back line, well marshalled by Andrews and Barker, stood firm to confirm all three points.

Tuesday 7th October 2003 - Ridgeons League Division One Cup, Preliminary Round
Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  2,  Harwich & Parkeston 2  aet
Felixstowe & Walton Utd. won 10-9 on penalties
Team: Adam Wilson, Alan Mills (cooper 88), Ryan Hunn, Jimmy Andrews, Nick Barker, Chris Kyle, Tom Childs, Liam Hunn, Robbie Fuller, Ismail Etti, David Thurkettle (Parry 79)
History was made at Dellwood Avenue this evening with penalties required for the first time ever to decide the result of a Cup tie.
A very entertaining game between two evenly matched sides which flowed from end to end was decided on the 24th penalty with Liam Hunn slotting home his second in an enthralling shoot-out.
It was all level when the sides met in the league two weeks previously and this was always going to be a close encounter, but no one suspected at 7.45pm that it would be nearly 10.30 before a winner would be found.
The Shrimpers held the interval lead in normal time through a fourth minute goal from Lee Neal who found the net from close range following a quickly taken free kick. Childs tested Munford with a low shot and both Etti and Hunn went close as the Seasiders finished the half strongly.
Within a minute of the restart Ismail Etti found space on the edge of the Harwich area and steered the ball over the advancing Munson for the equaliser. Chances were created by both teams with Townes heading wide for Harwich and Mudson reacting quickly to deny Liam Hunn following a good interchange with Thurkettle. The visitors were forced to face extra time with ten players after Stace's dismissal following two yellow cards.
The tempo did not relent in extra time with Wilson at full stretch to deny Mann but the game looked to be going Felixstowe's way with substitute Mark Cooper scoring his first goal for the 1st Team from close range two minutes into the second period.
Harwich pressed forward and three minutes later it was all square again when Steve Townes bundled the ball over the line to take the game to penalties.
After the regulation five penalties it was 4-4 with both Wilson and Munson having made one save each. Into sudden death and the next five penalties for each side were all converted 9-9. Each player then prepared to take a second and with the first three missed Liam Hunn walked forward to score the winner from the 24th kick of the night.
It was shame for either side to lose but the Seasiders go through to the next round.

Saturday 4th October 2003 - Ridgeons League Division One
Godmanchester Rovers 0,  Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  0  (0-0)
Team: Steve Pitts, Alan Mills, Tom Childs, Jimmy Andrews, Nick Barker, Mick Felgate, Dean Sadler, Liam Hunn, Robbie Fuller, Ismail Etti, David Thurkettle (Cooper 73
The Seasiders returned from Godmanchester Rovers, league leaders at the start of p
)lay, with a point from a goalless draw. Both sides worked hard an uneven surface with a gusting wind not helping either side to play flowing football.
With Ryan Hunn on Suffolk County duty, Childs moved to full back with Sadler returning to midfield for the only change to last weeks winning line up.
Felixstowe started positively forcing a first minute corner and despite have the better of the early possession did not trouble Bigger in the home goal. Werthman was alert to the danger of Etti and was quick to clear any danger from the swift Felixstowe attacks. Aware of the unpredictability of the pitch Goddy bypassed the midfield with long balls from defence creating the first scoring opportunity after seven minutes with Squires shooting over Pitts's cross bar.
Fuller, battling hard in midfield, linked well with Etti as they created Felixstowe's best first half opening with the uneven surface denying Fuller a clean shot on goal. Ewles created Goddy's best opportunities of the half, forcing a save from Pitts as he pounced on a loose ball after the Felixstowe keeper had parried Gate's free kick, and steering the ball agonisingly wide of the Seasiders left hand post with only the keeper to beat. The home side finished the half strongly with Andrews standing firm at the heart of the visiting defence to deny the dangerous Ewles.
After the break Gates increased his influence on the game and a speculative shot saw Pitts retreating to his line and grateful to see the ball rebound off the cross bar before being cleared to safety. Fuller went close on two occasions for the Seasiders with Etti firing the best opportunity over the bar after Felgate had responded quickly to a loose ball on the edge of the Goddy area. With time running down Gates and substitute Sanneh both headed wide for Goddy but the game, given the effort shown by both sides in a fairly fought and competitive game in difficult conditions, deserved to end honours even.

Saturday 27th September 2003 - Ridgeons League Division One
Kirkley 3,  Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  4  (1-2)
Team: Steve Pitts, Alan Mills, Ryan Hunn, Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews , Mick Felgate, David Thurkettle (Morgan 88), Liam Hunn, Robbie Fuller, Ismail Etti  (Cooper 80), Tom Childs
A hat trick from Ismail Etti helped secure all three points for the Seasiders on their first visit to Kirkley following a pulsating game, the result of which was in doubt to the final whistle.
The game, played at a fast pace throughout, saw both defences under pressure with the promise of further addition to the scoring with every attack by either side. The home side started positively with Le Compte shooting wide with an early opportunity before the Seasiders took the lead after nine minutes from the head of Liam Hunn following the visitors first corner of the game. The ball was cleared before hitting the back of the net but the alert Assistant Mr Goodman was well positioned to confirm the goal.
Le Compte and Ward both went close before Paul Highfield brought the sides level with a short range header after Glynn had headed a deep cross back across the area.
Ismail Etti opened his account for the season on 17 minutes racing through on goal and shooting home from the edge of the area.
Kirkley continued to press  with a flowing move from Osborne and Davidson providing Le Compte with an excellent opportunity which he volleyed over the bar.
The spectators, with good travelling support from Felixstowe, were kept thoroughly entertained with the prospect of further goals and Pitts saved comfortably from Highfield as the half drew to a close.
Fuller, operating in midfield, started and finished a flowing move involving Thurkettle and Etti after the break but his shot cleared the home cross-bar. Pitts blocked Highfield's shot on the turn before the Seasiders increased their lead on 63 minutes. Ismail Etti once again outpaced the home defence to seize onto a precision pass from Fuller and stroke the ball home from the edge of the area. Thurkettle went close with a free kick which would have settled the game but Kirkley refused to admit defeat and pressed forward earning a penalty with 15 minutes remaining as Highfield went down in the area,. Substitute Danny Stokeld stepped up to reduce the arrears beating Pitt's dive to his right with a well struck shot. Within three minutes the Seasiders had regained a two goal lead with Liam Hunn bursting into the area and holding the ball before picking out Ismail Etti to slide the ball home from four yards to claim his hat trick.
The home side refused to submit and when Danny Stokeld got the final touch to a scramble in the visitors area three minutes from time it set up an exciting finale with the Seasiders defence standing firm to record a memorable win.

Saturday 20th September 2003 - FA Vase 2nd Qualifying Round
Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  1,   Godmanchester Rovers  0  (1-0)
Team: Steve Pitts, Alan Mills, Ryan Hunn, Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews , Mick Felgate (Hunn 45), David Thurkettle (Kyle 73), Kevin Hudson, Robbie Fuller, Ismail Etti , Tom Childs
'Goddy' were welcomed to Dellwood Avenue for their first ever game in the VA Vase and exited from the competition, despite having held the balance of play for most of the game.
A goal on the break from David Thurkettle after only 5 minutes saw the Seasiders through to the draw for the next round on Monday morning.
Felixstowe started brightly with Mills glancing a Barker free kick just wide after only three minutes. The home side conceded a free kick two minutes later but broke quickly through Mills playing an excellent cross field ball to David Thurkettle who steered the ball home under the diving Bigger from 16 yards.
For the first half hour the home side were on top with Thurkettle opening up the visitors defence on 16 minutes but Fuller failed to get firm contact on the cross and Bigger saved comfortably.
Rover's first clear opportunity fell to Brown who shot wide when well placed. Slick passing between Barker Mills resulted in a good save by Bigger from Mill's shot, at the expense of a corner.
Godmanchester finished the half strongly and with Pitts saving from Brown and Hurst shooting wide the Seasiders were grateful for the half time whistle.
The visitors opened the second half as they had finished the first with a corner  and continued to dominate throughout the half. Sanneh struck the Felixstowe bar with Pitts beaten but despite the visitors dominance Pitts was rarely forced to make a save of note as the Seasiders defence stood firm. The home side looked dangerous on the break with Bigger diving at the feet of Etti to deny a swift attack,
Carnamatte twice broke clear in the home area but saw his shots go agonisingly past both uprights. Substitute Hunn was dismissed for two yellow cards with three minutes remaining, which could have proved costly had the game gone to extra time, but poor finishing from Hurst enabled Felixstowe to see out the game and go into the draw for the next round on Monday.

Saturday 13th September 2003 - Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  1,   Somersham Town 2   (0-0)
Team: Adam Wilson, Alan Mills, Ryan Hunn, Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews , Dean Sadler (Childs 54), Mick Felgate, Kevin Hudson, David Thurkettle (Kyle 75), Robbie Fuller, Ismail Etti  (L Hunn 54)
Somersham deservedly gained their first win of the season against a lack lustre Felixtowe side. Having taken a two goal lead shortly after the interval the visitors looked unlikely to be beaten despite a late rally from the Seasiders.
Defensive slips provided space in the opening minutes for Somersham with Boon and Nelson failing to take advantage. Mills fired over from distance for Felixstowe before Boon forced the first save of the afternoon from Wilson in the home goal. Good link up play between Light and Nelson ended with Wosocoh heading over as Somersham enjoyed the better of the opening thirty minutes. With the interval approaching the home side started to assert their authority, Ryan Hunn curling a shot onto the roof of the net and Thukettle striking a post from distance as they finished the half the stronger.
Three minutes after the restart Somersham were ahead as Richard Marsden poked the ball home following a goal mouth scramble. Four minutes later the visitors doubled their lead with Lee Boon beating Wilson to slide the ball into the net.
A double substitution saw Childs and Liam Hunn replace Etti and Sadler as the home side went in search of a reply. Marsden hooked the ball off the line to deny Fuller and from the resulting corner Thurkettle shot wide.
With five minutes remaining Liam Hunn reduced the defecit with a headed goal from close range but it was to prove to be only a consolation as the Somersham defence held on for their first win of the season.

Tuesday 9th September 2003 - Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton Utd.  1,   Harwich & Parkeston  1   (0-1)
Team: Steven Pitts, Alan Mills, Chris Kyle, Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews , Kevin Hudson, Mick Felgate, David Thurkettle (L Hunn 80), Robbie Fuller, Ismail Etti , Tom Childs (Sadler 75)
In a typical hard fought local derby at Dellwood Avenue the Seasiders shared the points in an entertaining and at times controversial encounter.
Visitors Harwich shaded the first half action to lead at the break but the home side produced a second half came back to grab a deserved equaliser 5 minutes from the end.
Felixstowe & Walton were behind after only six minutes when Race won the ball in midfield to start an attack and then worked an opening on the right to deliver a low cross to the far post for Matt Hearne to get a touch and divert it over the line as Pitts scrambled to turn it away.
Both Powell and Neale went close with first half efforts as Harwich player/manager Mitchell Springett orchestrated most of the visitors moves before the break and it was not until the 39th minute that the home side tested Nathan Munson with David Thurkettle forcing him into a top class save with a rising right foot volley.
The Harwich keeper was fortunate to receive only a yellow card from referee Mr Harvey for a crude challenge on Ismail Etti as he raced out of his area 2 minutes after the break and he denied Etti with a brilliant save from the strikers close range header on the hour.
For the last half hour it was nearly all Felixstowe & Walton as they applied increasing pressure on the visitors defence and their hard work finally paid dividends in the 85th minute when Alan Mills produced a telling cross to the far post for Hunn to head back across goal and Robbie Fuller who had twice gone close made no mistake with a close range header to give the Seasiders a deserved equaliser.

Saturday 6th September 2003 - Ridgeons League Division One
Warboys Town 1,  Felixstowe & Walton Utd. 8  (0-5)

Team: Steven Pitts, Alan Mills, Ryan Hunn, Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews (Kyle 49), Kevin Hudson, Mick Felgate, Liam Hunn, Robbie Fuller (Cooper60), Ismail Etti , Tom Childs (Capon 70)
The Seasiders recorded their highest ever league win at Warboys this afternoon against a side in transition as they re-group following major team changes. Only one member of the home side played in the corresponding game at the end of last season with many young players in the team.
Felixstowe played a controlled passing game scoring five times in the first half.
After the interval Warboys found more time and space on the ball as Felixstowe eased back with the home side scoring a consolation and Felixstowe adding three for an 8-1 win.

Liam Hunn, making his first start for the team, and Kevin Hudson were the only changes to last weeks line up with Sadler and Thurkettle absent.
Tommy Childs opened the scoring after five minutes direct from a free kick on the right hand side of the field after Etti had been bundled over. The first corner went to Warboys after Andrews cleared on 9 minutes with Felixstowe breaking from the corner kick and Roberts made the first of a number of good saves in the home goal to deny Liam Hunn.
Robbie Fuller scored with a shot on the turn after 18 minutes and Liam Hunn added a third from the penalty spot after Etti had been tripped eight minutes later.
With mainly one way traffic the result was not in doubt from this point despite determined effort from the home side.
Robbie Fuller scored his second from a Liam Hunn Cross and Alan Mills rifled in a shot from the edge of the area for a 5-0 half time lead.
A flowing move five minutes after the restart saw Hudson pass to Micky Felgate who fired home from 20 yards. With the visitors easing back slightly Warboys enjoyed an increased share of possession with Stevens, Rakes and Head much in evidence.
On 58 minutes Steve Head was rewarded with a consolation goal as a lapse in concentration in the Felixstowe defence was ceased upon and he rounded the keeper to slide the ball home. On the hour Kevin Hudson steered home Mill's corner for the seventh and Captain Nicky Barker completed the scoring directly from a free kick with 12 minutes remaining.

Saturday 30th August 2003 - Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton Utd. 2, Downham Town 0  (0-0)
Team: Steven Pitts, Alan Mills, Ryan Hunn, Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews, Dean Sadler, Mick Felgate, David Thurkettle (Hudson 68), Robbie Fuller, Ismail Etti (L Hunn 78) Tom Childs
Kevin Hudson scored in the 83rd minute after a combination of woodwork and Duncan McAnnly in the Downham goal had frustrated the home side with the game heading for a goalless draw. With seconds left on the watch Robbie Fuller hammered home the second to confirm the win for the Seasiders.
Felixstowe struck the woodwork on the three occasions in the first half, but could not find the net, as they carried on where they had left off on Tuesday evening. The Downham keeper McAnnly saw plenty of action in front of his goal but was not forced to make a save of note until just before the interval when he went full length to his left to dent Fuller at the expense of a corner. Pitts, in the home goal, failed to hold a shot from Sainty and did well to protect his goal at the second attempt under pressure from Hawes.
After the break pressure continued to mount on the Downham goal with Nicol heading Thurkettle's shot off his line for a corner with the keeper beaten.
McAnnly saved well from Fuller with the ball parried to Felgate and he saw his shot cleared off the line by Thorpe. With Childs and Felgate both shooting wide it looked like the breakthrough would not come and Hunton and Liam Hunn, making his debut, were introduced.
Edward and Hawes on the break posed the occasional danger to the home defence but increasingly the visitors were holding on for a point. On 83 minutes Childs found Kevin Hudson in space and he rounded the advanced McAnnly to stroke the ball home from the edge of the area, much to the relief of the home support. With seconds remaining Hunn sprinted down the left and his shot came back of the bar into the path of Robbie Fuller who chested the ball down and made no mistake from  eight yards.

Tuesday 26th August 2003 - Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton Utd. 0, Cornard United 1  (0-0)
Team: Steven Pitts, Alan Mills, Ryan Hunn, Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews, Dean Sadler, Mick Felgate, David Thurkettle (Etti 64), Robbie Fuller, Kevin Hudson (Cooper 64) Tom Childs
Darren Moyes in the Cornard goal made a number of fine saves to deny the Seasiders in the second half to secure all three points for the visitors. The only goal of the game came in the 53rd minute when appeals for off-side were turned down and Lynton Evason raced through to score past the diving Steve Pitts.
'Pitsy' at 16 years and 23 days was making his debut in goal for Felixstowe and apart from the opening five minutes was seldom tested. Cornard started brightly with Pitts relived to see Proctor's close range effort strike the cross bar. Both sides gave the ball away cheaply in the first half with the game only coming to life after the break.
A flowing move from defence found Felgate in space on the right and his shot defeated the diving Moyes but cannon off the foot of the post to safety. Within seconds Cornard were ahead as the ball was sent up field finding Evanson in yards of space to run on and score. A double substitution on 64 minutes saw Etti and Cooper replace Thurkettle and  Hudson.
The Seasiders pressed forward with Fuller striking the cross bar on 67 minutes and Child's left foot shot going just wide. Cooper's cross was met by Fuller but his firmly struck shot was well save by Moyes at the expense of a corner.
A succession of corners followed but Moyes was not to be passed and the points went to the visitors.

Saturday 23rd August 2003 - Ridgeons League Division One
Swaffham Town 3,  Felixstowe & Walton Utd. 2  (0-1)

Team: Adam Wilson Alan Mills, Tom Childs (Crump 64), Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews, Dean Sadler, Mick Felgate, Paul Berry, Robbie Fuller, Ismial Etti (Thurkettle 74), Ryan Hunn,
Ismail Etti returned to the side with the unavailability of Kevin Hudson the only change to Tuesday's starting line up.
The Seasiders held a deserved half time lead but Swaffahm's experience on their sloping pitch told after the interval with Felixstowe facing an up-hill struggle.
The Pedlars defended deep in the first half with Robert Back their most dangerous attacking force. Wilson was quickly down to deny Back in the tenth minute and the same player saw shots go narrowly wide of the visitors left and right hand posts.
The majority of the first half play belonged to the Seasiders with Fuller and Barker, from a free kick, both testing Cook in the Swaffham goal.
The breakthrough came on 40 minutes after Etti had been fouled just outside the home penalty area. Barker's free kick was headed onto the bar by Andrews and Robbie Fuller was first to react and head home wide of the diving Cook.
After the break Swaffham played the long ball with great effect over the advanced Felixstowe back line and with willing runners in Doherty, Hunter and Back soon had Wilson under pressure in the Seasiders goal. Ten minutes after the restart the sides were level with Adam Elden heading home Back's cross from the left.
With Swaffham looking to increase their lead it was Felixstowe who regained the advantage seven minutes later when Robbie Fuller beat Cook and Gallon to the ball and scored his second from ten yards. The lead was only held for four minutes until another long ball found the willing Robert Back who steered the ball past the advancing Wilson. On 72 minutes Andrew Hunter claimed all three points for the home side when he connected with a long free kick Gallon to score the third.

Tuesday 19th August 2003 - Ridgeons League Division One
Needham Market 0,  Felixstowe & Walton Utd. 1  (0-1)

Team: Adam Wilson, Alan Mills, Ryan Hunn, Nick Barker, Jimmy Andrews, Dean Sadler, Mick Felgate, Paul Berry (Kyle 90), Robbie Fuller, Kevin Hudson (Crump 75), Tom Childs (Thurkettle 72)
Seasiders recorded their first win of the season following an open and entertaining game at Bloomfields this evening. The only goal was scored after eight minutes when the ball flew off a defender past the unfortunate Nunn after Fuller had risen to head on Child's free kick.
Both sides created scoring opportunities with the first falling to Pryke for the home side in the fifth minute as he shot wide from 12 yards. The ever dangerous Berry made a number of dazling runs for the visitors but elected to pass rather than shoot after having created an opening on 26 minutes. Felixstowe played some attractive passing football and Fuller struck a post just after the half hour following an overhead kick from Hudson.
Wilson had to be alert to deny Saker with his feet as the number eleven increased his presence on the game and broke free of the Felixstowe rear guard to find room to shoot.
After the break the visitors continued to enjoy the lions share of the possession but failed to find the telling strike on goal despite the tireless running of the front pairing of Fuller and Hudson. They were nearly made to pay for not closing the game when a swift break from Needham found Sandiland in space on the left of the area  but he shot wide with just the keeper to beat.
The home sides best spell of play in the second half saw the impressive Saker head the ball against Wilson's cross bar and Felixstowe endured a nervous closing few minutes before Mr. Butcher blew for time and three points for the Seasiders.

Saturday 16th August 2003 - Ridgeons League Division One

A 13th minute goal from Neil Green separated the sides on the opening day of the season at a sunny Dellwood Avenue.
The fluency of the pre-season matches deserted the Seasiders in a first half that showed 'first day of the new term' nerves. After the break play was more relaxed and positive but chances failed to be taken and Fletcher held firm in the visitors goal.
Both sides forced early corners with the first scoring opportunity falling to Green for the visitors after six minutes but he miss-hit his left foot shot wide of Wilson's right hand post. The number number 9 made no mistake on 13 minutes with a well flighted shot from the right of the area after the home defence had failed to clear following a corner kick. Fletcher in the visitors goal dealt well with a number of deep crosses but was not severely tested in the first half.
With Hunn and Mills pushing on after the break the chances stared to be created for the Seasiders with a good run and cross from Hunn met by Felgate who was just wide. With Felixstowe pressing forward Rovers found space to exploit with Claydon and Sharp both putting opportunities wide. Wilson was off his line quickly to deny Banham but it was the home side that were creating the most opening at this stage with Felgate going close on three occasions.
Fuller had the ball in the net on 68 minutes only to be ruled off-side as the home continue to press but Fletcher, though under pressure, was not forced to make a save and Rovers went on to secure all three points.
