First Division Runners-up season 2005-06

Saturday 29th April Ridgeons League Division One
Debenham L.C.  0 - 4
Felixstowe & Walton United  (0-1)

Team: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, Daniel Glencastle (Glenn Snell), Gavin Frost (Matt Buckle), Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews, Dwayne Edwards (Danny Spencer), James Buckle, Danny Phillips, Gavin Crane, Lewis Pemberton.  Unused Subs:- Matt Morgan, Shaun Pugh.
Felixstowe were promoted to the Premier Division in style with a thoroughly professional performance in the final game of the season to confirm the runners-up spot behind worthy Champions Stanway Rovers.
Crane found the target on 20 minutes and scored his second five minutes after the interval. James Buckle fired home on the hour with Edwards completing the scoring fifteen minutes from time.

Steve Potts named an unchanged side for the trip to Debenham with a win needed to ensure the runners up trophy. The team was much changed from the one that visited Debenham last season in the Suffolk Senior Cup as was the Debenham ground which has seen many improvements since our last visit with a new stand, floodlights, perimeter fencing and hard standing all round the ground.

What has not changed is the high level of hospitality and we would like to thank Karen, Mel, Trevor and all at Debenham LC for  making our final game in the first division such a memorable and enjoyable occasion.

With Fulbourne only a point behind the win was essential and Felixstowe started on the front foot forcing two corners and two free kicks in dangerous areas in the first three minutes. Crane, who posed a threat throughout and keen to finish the season as the First Division's leading scorer, met Edward's free kick with his header deflected for a corner. The same two combined moments later with Crane shooting wide as Felixstowe dominated.
Evans shot wide for Debenham on fifteen minutes as pressure was relieved for the home defence with Gedny working hard to retain the ball in attack.

The opening goal came on twenty minutes after Pemberton made a dazzling run down the right with his cross turned against the bar by Phillips and with the ball bouncing around the six yard area Gavin Crane pounced and squeezed the ball home past two defenders - pictured right.

Canfer and Norman worked hard to break up the Felixstowe attacks but with Buckle and Frost closing quickly in midfield good home ball to the forwards was in short supply.

Johnson made an excellent save to deny Phillip at the expense of a corner as the half drew to a close with the Seasiders threatening to extend their lead.

Crane doubled his tally five minutes after the break combining with Phillips to fire home from eight yards out pictured above. Debenham worked hard but found ball retention difficult as Andrews and Simmons closed down quickly on the home sides attacks.
James Buckle made the points safe following Frost's free kick rifling the ball home from 6 yards on the hour pictured right.

The home side's cause was not helped by the dismissal of Canfer shortly after the third goal as frustration rose. Felixstowe continued to pass the ball around well and Dwayne Edwards left completed the scoring with a well taken goal from the edge of the area on 77 minutes.

After the game Captain Jimmy Andrews was presented with the runners up trophy by Ridgeons League Official Lionel Scutcher before the team celebrated in their 'promotion' tee shirts.

Following the game the chairman joined the lads for celebrations in the changing room!

Many thanks to the nearly 50 Felixstowe supporters (and Peachey's dog) who made the trip.

Saturday 22nd April Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton United   3 - 0  Great Yarmouth Town   (1-0)

Team: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, Daniel Glencastle, Gavin Frost (Matt Buckle), Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews, Dwayne Edwards , James Buckle, Danny Phillips (Danny Spencer), Gavin Crane (Glenn Snell), Lewis Pemberton.  Unused Subs:- Andy Crump, Shaun Pugh.

Needing two points from two games to claim a promotion spot the Seasiders claimed all three with three goals against a Yarmouth side who had gone nine games unbeaten before their visit to Dellwood Avenue this afternoon.
Gavin Frost opened the scoring with a blistering shot from 25 yards on the half hour and Dwayne Edwards on the hour and Danny Spencer with 10 minutes to go ensured the promotion party could commence.

Andrews returning for the absent Morgan was the only change to last week's starting line up with consistent team selection having been a key element in the closing weeks of the season. With eight wins and one draw from their last nine games Yarmouth arrived, with a good following, in confident mood and looking to upset the Seasiders promotion party.

In bright sunshine, and watched by a crowd of 195, Felixstowe stared positively looking to gain promotion with a home win in front of their own fans. Banham blocked Frost's shot from distance left after two minutes and had to deal quickly with the rebound as Phillips and Crane looked to pounce on the loose ball. Edwards showed good speed down the right flank and Pemberton saw his show rise over the bar before Yarmouth began to gain an element of control through Drake and Vincent.
Boyd made a timely tackle to deny the dangerous Phillips after combining well with Edwards before the Seasiders opened the scoring on the half hour.
Gavin Frost once again first to the ball in midfield rifled home his shot from 25 yards to settle the nerves and put the Seasiders on their way to three points.

Both sides were playing neat attractive football but with Peachey, Glencastle, Simmons and Andrews all closing the ball down quickly the Yarmouth forwards had little time on the ball and despite winning a number of corners Cudworth was not stretched in the first period.

Phillips headed wide from a corner immediately after the restart as Felixstowe stayed on the front foot and increased their lead on the hour when Crane's run and cross from the right wing found Dwayne Edwards who made no mistake from the edge of the area pictured left.

Cudworth made an excellent save to deny Fitchen at the expense of a corner as Yarmouth searched for a quick response and at the other end Crane went close with an audacious dipping shot from all of 35 yards after spotting Banham well off his line but the ball just cleared the bar.

Glynn shot wide for Yarmouth as they continued to search for a reply but Felixstowe remained professional to a man with Danny Spencer right putting the result beyond doubt with his shot from the edge of the area taking a deflection on it's way past the stranded Banham with ten minutes remaining.

The fans knew now that promotion was clinched and enjoyed the closing moments of the game before the celebrations commenced - well into the night.

Many congratulations to Steve Potts, Steve Buckle, all the players and back room staff for a great season.

With one game to go at Debenham next week I know the players will all be looking to finish the season with a win and confirm second spot in the table - Coach leaves Dellwood Avenue at 12.00,

Monday 17th April Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton United  4 - 2  Hadleigh United  (1-1)

Team: Paul Cudworth, Matt Morgan, Daniel Glencastle, Gavin Frost (Matt Buckle), Stuart Simmons, James Peachey, Dwayne Edwards , James Buckle, Danny Phillips, Gavin Crane (Glenn Snell), Lewis Pemberton (Danny Spencer).  Unused Subs:- Jimmy Andrews, Steve Buckle.
A bumper Bank Holiday crowd witnessed the Seasiders 100th league goal of the season in a home win against a determined Hadleigh side.
Danny Phillips with a hat-trick and Gavin Crane from the penalty spot took the Seasiders to within two points of promotion with two games to play.

Steve Potts named an unchanged side for the visit of Hadleigh United to Dellwood Avenue with the expectation of goals and a Junior penalty competition attracting the Seasiders largest attendance of the season (221) in the Spring sunshine.

The home side were quickly onto the offensive with man of the match Danny Phillips opening the scoring right after seven minutes with a well struck shot from 15 yards. Hadleigh forced a couple of corners without threatening and were pleased to see Whitwell get a hand to Crane's header as they scrambled the ball clear.  Whitwell got finger tips to a fierce Pemberton strike with the ball clattering back off the bar before Whitwell saved low to deny Edwards as the visitors goal came under increasing pressure.

Pritchard headed the ball off the line to rescue Whitwell as Buckle look to capitalise on an empty goal from distance. Buckle then skimmed the ball with a long shot as despite the level of possession the second goal proved illusive.

With Felixstowe appealing for a penalty Hadleigh broke and Jason Curtis intelligently guided the ball from distance over the advanced Cudworth for the equaliser.

Curtis came close to claiming the lead for the visitors when his header following a corner flashed across the Felixstowe goals and wide minutes before the break.

Hadleigh started the second half brightly with two early corners but Felixstowe were quickly back in the driving seat with Danny Phillips scoring his second as the rain began to fall.

Gavin Crane was brought down in the area before he stepped up to rifle home the third goal below.

Hadleigh to their credit persisted and pulled a goal back with just over ten minutes remaining, a deep free kick being headed home at the far post by Jonathan Chinnery.

Any thoughts of a barn storming finish were short lived as from the kick-off Danny Phillips completed his hat-trick and recorded Felixstowe's 100th league goal of the season.

With Tipree gaining a point from a 1-1 draw at Stanway the Seasiders require two more points from the final two games to ensure a top three finish.

Saturday 15th April Ridgeons League Division One
Thetford Town  0 - 6  Felixstowe & Walton United   (0-4)

Team: Paul Cudworth, Matt Morgan, Daniel Glencastle (Glenn Snell), Gavin Frost, Stuart Simmons, James Peachey, Lewis Pemberton, James Buckle (Matt Buckle), Danny Phillips, Gavin Crane, Dwayne Edwards (Danny Spencer) , Unused Subs:- Steve Buckle, Steve Potts.
Two goals inside the first five minutes from Matt Morgan and James Buckle set the Seasiders on the way to an important away win. It was sad to see Thetford keeper Snowdon dismissed for handling outside the area but by then Phillips had added a third and the game was well out of Thetford's reach.
Edwards scored the visitors fourth following the free kick after the red card had been shown, with Crane and Snell completing the scoring in the second half.

James Buckle returned to the side following a week's suspension and in the absence of Jimmy Andrews, James Peachey above  proudly pulled on the Captains arm band. Matt Morgan switched positions into the back line and once again had an outstanding game.

The home side kicked off but were quickly on the back foot as Edwards produced a telling run down the left and his sweeping cross was fired home at the far post by Matt Morgan. Thetford had scarcely time to draw breath before Pemberton showed his speed down the right with his precision cross swept home by James Buckle for the second after only four minutes picture right.

Felixstowe continued to dominate but with Brooks showing strength of character the home side began to recover from a poor start with organisation and spirit returning.

The Seasiders continued to develop their passing game with Danny Phillips adding the third following a neat interchange with Crane on 20 minutes, pictured left.
Conroy produced Thetford's best opportunity of the half, but his shot was blocked, before Snowdon made an excellent diving save to deny Frost at the expense of a corner.
Five minutes before the break Snowdon found himself collecting the ball a yard outside his area in front of the on-rushing Phillips (right). Unfortunately a red card followed with Senior being forced to withdraw to allow substitute keeper Kneebone to take to the field.

His first act was to pick the ball out of the net after Dwayne Edwards drilled the ball home below following Frost's short free kick.

Despite being down to ten men and four goals adrift the home team showed great resolve after the interval with Substitute Fancett  impressing on the left flank.
Thetford forced their first corner of the half after 55 minutes when Peachey cleared away Fancett's cross into the area. Fancett shot wide following a deep pass from Bray and Cole was wide from distance as Thetford continued to plug away without testing Cudworth in the Felixstowe goal.

On 73 minutes Gavin Crane left turned home Phillip's cross from the right as the introduction of the Felixstowe substitutes moved the Seasiders up a gear and Glenn Snell below completed the scoring after a good run and cross from the tireless Phillips had once again created the opportunity.

The loudest cheer of the afternoon came from the away changing room after the match when news came through that Tiptree had lost at Long Melford.
With three games to go it's still all to play for - See you Monday for the next chapter in this thrilling end to the season.

Saturday 8th April Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton United  0 - 0  Ely City

Team: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, Daniel Glencastle, Gavin Frost, Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews , Dwayne Edwards (Glenn Snell), Matt Morgan, Danny Phillips, Gavin Crane, Lewis Pemberton (Danny Spencer).  Unused Subs:- Matt Buckle, Danny Spurling, Steve Buckle.
Matt Morgan saw a header hit the Ely bar and another cleared off the line, but that apart there was little to trouble the two keepers in a game that saw two in-form sides cancel each other out.
Steve Potts & Steve Buckle will have been more than pleased with four points from the two games this week.

Felixstowe named an unchanged side for the visit of Ely City who had defeated the Seasiders 2-0 in the reverse fixture back in December. Interestingly only five Felixstowe players and four from Ely that played that day were in the starting eleven today.  A swirling wind and hard pitch didn't help the flow of the game with the ball spending more time in the air or over the garden fences than on the ground.

Felixstowe forced two early corners, but it was Ely who created the first clear opening with Brand placing his shot well wide after ten minutes. Phillips worked hard in attack and forced a low save from Follen on the half hour for what was to be the home sides clearest strike on goal of the half.

Warren pictured left, who must have thought he was off side - but the ball had come off a Felixstowe player, failed to get any force into his shot from six yards and Cuddworth, well placed, collected the ball comfortably.

Felixstowe looked the more likely to break the deadlock in the second half with Phillips producing a mazey run into the area before his shot was blocked and then heading over following a good run and cross from Edwards.

Ely's best opportunity of the half fell to Mason who latched onto a long ball from defence before Andrews made a timely tackle to clear the danger.

Morgan produced a hard working performance in midfield and created an opening for Crane on 65 minutes but the reliable Felixstowe forward placed his shot on the turn over the bar from twelve yards.

Felixstowe eased forward as the game drew to a close in search of their first goal against Ely this season but when Morgan's headed came back off the cross-bar and moments later his goal-bound effort was cleared off the line, a goalless draw looked a banker.

Both sides huffed and puffed to the final whistle but Cuddworth and Follen were not to be unduly troubled again with the draw a fair result on the day.

With Fulbourn and Tiptree both winning, the stage is set for an exciting final few weeks of the season.

Tuesday 4th April Ridgeons League Division One
Whitton United  1 -  2 Felixstowe & Walton United    (1-0)
Team
: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, Daniel Glencastle, Gavin Frost, Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews , Dwayne Edwards , Matt Morgan, Danny Phillips, Gavin Crane, Lewis Pemberton (Glenn Snell).
Unused Subs:- Andy Crump, Shaun Pugh, Matt Buckle, Steve Buckle

Paul Cudworth produced two injury time saves to secure all three points for the Seasiders at the King George V playing fields this evening. Aday's tenth minute goal had given the home side a deserved lead at the break with Crane equalising ten minutes into the second period. Substitute Snell had been on the field for six minutes when he timed his run perfectly to guide the ball under the advancing Leggett for the winner.

The inclusion of Pemberton on the wing was the only change to Saturday's starting line up for the visit to in-form Whitton United having won eight of their previous nine games.

Felixstowe kicked off down the slope with Morgan heading wide from the first corner of the game taken by Edwards. Having started brightly the Seasiders were pushed onto the back foot when Ewers turned easily in the area to strike at goal and when Cudworth's saves ran to Adem Aday he made no mistake in steering the ball home.

Felixstowe looked uncharacteristically nervous in defence and could have fallen further behind if Cudworth had not clawed away a deep cross from Aday, which looked to be going over him, at the expense of a corner.
Leggett saved well to deny Phillips and Crane saw his shot hit the side netting following another good save from Leggett to parry Frost's shot, but the home side had the better of the first half and deserved their interval lead.

The Seasiders appeared more focussed after the half time interval with Gavin Crane looking a greater threat, and the former Whitton player brought the sides level after ten minutes rifling home from Phillip's precision cross. Leggett saved from Phillip's following a deep cross from Glencastle as the visitors continued to press the game.

With 15 minutes remaining Snell replaced Pemberton and scored after coming off the bench for the second time in four days.  Phillips influential in all the Seasider's attacks intelligently released the ball into Snell's path, avoiding the offside trap, to give Glenn Snell a clear run at goal and guide the ball under the advancing Leggett.

The game was far from won as Whitton ended the game strongly and Paul Cudworth produced two excellent saves to deny Aday and Williams from levelling the game in time added on.

With Fulbourn winning it was an important three points to gain before the visit of Ely City to Dellwood Avenue on Saturday.

Our best wishes go to Nathan Szyszlyk who was taken to hospital with concussion.

Saturday 1st April Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton United   6 - 1  Downham Town  (3-1)

Team
: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, Daniel Glencastle, Gavin Frost, Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews (Andy Crump), Dwayne Edwards (Glenn Snell), Matt Morgan, Danny Phillips, Gavin Crane, Shaun Pugh (Matt Buckle). Unused Subs:- Lewis Pemberton, James Buckle.
Two first half goals from man of the match Danny Phillips in the space of ten minutes put the Seasiders in the box seat where they remained for the rest of the game. Elden replied for the visitors before Morgan restored the two goal advantage before the break. The young Downham side battled to the final whistle but second half goals from Gavin Snell, Matt Buckle and Gavin Crane saw Felixstowe gain another three points.

With Drury looking to be out for the rest of season with knee ligaments Glencastle was named in the starting line up. Morgan and Pugh also started with James Buckle and Pemberton rested to the bench.

The Seasiders started strongly forcing three early corners with McAnally producing an excellent save from Edwards to palm his rising shot over the bar. Webber caused Cudworth early concern with his height as he challenged for a long ball but the threat was to be restrained by Andrews and Simmons as the game progressed.

An early substitution had to be made when Assistant Referee Mr Trevers was forced to retire after 15 minutes with a back strain, the Felixstowe Secretary taking the flag.

With Pugh and Edwards finding space down the flanks and Phillips and Crane eager in front of goal opportunities continued to be produced and on 28 minutes Danny Phillips opened the scoring with a well struck shot from 16 yards. When Phillips doubled his tally with a similar shot ten minutes later it looked like being a long afternoon for the visitors. But Downham were to make a quick reply straight from the restart as they caught the home defence napping with Elden intelligently guiding the ball over the stranded Cudworth.
Felixstowe upped their game and restored the two lead before the break with a well flighted header from Matt Morgan.

McAnally made a number of fine saves in the second half to deny an increase to the score but could not faulted for failing to save Matt Buckle's fierce drive after he had entered the game as a second half substitute. Elden and Anderson continued to work hard in attack for Downham but increasingly the supply from midfield dried up with Frost and Morgan ensuring a good supply to the Felixstowe forwards.

Glenn Snell entered the game and was quickly onto the score-sheet to make it five and Gavin Crane continued his goal with a diving header at the far post for the Seasiders sixth.

With the top four sides all winning there is no change at the top of the table with the Seasiders holding second place and looking forward to the local derby at Whitton United on Tuesday evening.

Saturday 25th March 2006 - Ridgeons League Division One
Saffron Walden   0 - 1  Felixstowe & Walton United  (0-0)
Team
: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, James Drury (Daniel Glencastle), Gavin Frost, Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews, Lewis Pemberton, James Buckle (Danny Spencer), Danny Phillips, Gavin Crane  (Matt Morgan), Dwayne Edwards. Unused Subs:- Glenn Snell .
The Seasiders move into second place in the table thanks to an opportunistic goal from Gavin Crane pictured right after scoring mid way through the second half.
Poor communication between Danbury and and his keeper Pledger saw the ball run loose with the alert Crane snatching all three points from a scrappy game.

Steve Potts named an unchanged side for the visit to Catons Lane with a crowd of 274 boosted by the presence of many of Saffron Walden's academy players.

Felixstowe made a positive start exerting early pressure but the first shot came from Saffron's  Green as he latched onto a poor clearance before driving his effort wide.
Barker and Buchart both went close for the home side before Simmons saw his drive pictured left deflected for a corner on 25 minutes.
Pledger saved well to turn Frost's shot away for a corner and at the other end Riches combined well with Green to force a corner, but in truth there was little to excite the crowd as the half drew to a close.

Green continued to pose the greatest threat on Cudworth's goal with two shots blocked in the opening minutes of the second half. Jamie Drury pictured right was unfortunately stretched from the pitch only five minutes into the second period with injured knee ligaments with Daniel Glencastle taking to the field.
Crane, Phillips and Edwards worked tirelessly in attack but flowing moves were difficult to build and it required a stroke of good fortune to break the deadlock.
Danbury headed a long Felixstowe ball back towards his keeper but Pledger had advanced to claim the ball himself and as the ball ran loose the attentive Gavin Crane nipped in to pass the ball into the unguarded net, pictured left.

Saffron replied with a double substitution with Felixstowe surviving a pin ball moment in front of goal before Edwards hurriedly cleared the ball away for a corner.
Cuddworth did not have a serious save to make despite late pressure from the home side and Riches will be disappointed at failing to test the Felixstowe keeper from two good opportunities in the closing moments.

Steve Potts was more than happy with three points but will be concerned that Jamie Drury's injury is not as serious as first feared.

Tuesday 21st March 2006 - Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton United   2 - 1  Tiptree United  (1-1)
Team
: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, James Drury, Gavin Frost, Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews, Lewis Pemberton, James Buckle, Danny Phillips, Gavin Crane (Glenn Snell), Dwayne Edwards. Unused Subs:- Danny Spencer, Matt Morgan, Daniel Glencastle.
The Seasiders moved to within a point of second placed Tiptree United following an eagerly awaited encounter at Dellwood Avenue this evening. With Tiptree having won the previous two games between the sides this season Felixstowe were due the win that their performance on the night deserved.
Emerson's
rocket on four minutes put the visitors ahead after four minutes with Edwards replying eight minutes later.
Crane
claimed the lead for the Seasiders early in the second half which they fought to hold with Cudworth making an injury time save to deny Robinson and secure the points.

Tiptree were keen to impose themselves in attack from the start and opened the scoring after only four minutes following the first corner of the game. The ball ran to Mark Emerson on the edge of the area and his blistering shot dipped under the Felixstowe bar giving Cudworth no chance at all.
Emerson and Emery looked dangerous as Tiptree were first to the ball in the early stages before Felixstowe started to break up the visitors attacks with Frost and Buckle excelling in midfield.  On twelve minutes the sides were level with Dwayne Edwards dipping low on the six yard line to head home Frost's well struck free kick.
The game flowed from end to end with further goals looking likely and Wooten produced an excellent save low to his left to turn Frost's fierce shot away for a corner on 25 minutes.

The Seasiders forced a succession of corners as they finished the half on the attack with Crane and Phillips both threatening without forcing Wooten to make a telling save.

Within three minutes of the restart Felixstowe were ahead. Emerson cleared Gavin Crane's initial shot off the line but he made no mistake with his second effort drilling the ball home from a sharp angle.
The home side enjoyed the better of the second half but without the telling third goal the result was in doubt to the final whistle. Peachy and Crane both went close for Felixstowe with Manning's early shot  nearly producing the equaliser for the visitors as the pace quickened.
A rare lapse in defence allowed Robinson a strike at goal deep into injury but Cudworth was equal to the task, blocking the shot and ensuring the home side deservedly held on to all three points.

An excellent all round performance from the Seasiders who now look forward to their trip to Saffron Walden on Saturday.

Saturday 18th March 2006 - Ridgeons League Division One
Walsham le Willows  0 - 0  Felixstowe & Walton United
Team
: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, James Drury, Gavin Frost, Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews, Dwayne Edwards (Danny Spencer), James Buckle, Danny Phillips, Gavin Crane (Glenn Snell), Lewis Pemberton (Matt Morgan).  Unused Subs:- Daniel Glencastle.
The first goal-less draw for the Seasiders since October 2003, but with Fulbourn held at Fakenham it was enough to maintain 3rd spot in the table.
Goal mouth incidents were few and far between with neither keeper seriously tested  as both sides produced good defensive displays.

Dwayne Edwards in for Matt Morgan was the only change to last Saturday's line up for the trip to Summer Road with good travelling support helping to produce one the best attendances at Walsham this season.

Daniel Cook was appointed to his first game in charge at this level on the morning of match and gave a very creditable performance. We hope that the reason Maurice Cook was not at the game proves not to be too serious.

With a strong cold wind to their backs the home side were quickly onto the attack from the first whistle forcing a corner inside 20 seconds. Cudworth comfortably held Crawford's close range header as Walsham started brightly with Cudworth also untroubled saving from Moye's long range shot.
Phillips and Edwards both produced good runs down the right flank as Felixstowe probed the home defence defence without testing keeper Bugg.
Frost and Buckle worked hard in midfield to gain possession from Crawford and Sim with Edwards dropping back to bolster the defence as Felixstowe fought to gain a foothold on the game.

The back line of Peachey, Andrews, Simmons and Drury produced an excellent defensive performance to keep the Walsham forward line at distance with Deeks firing wide from the edge of the area and Cudworth easily saving from Crawford.
The best opportunity of the game came close to the interval, as the home side ended the half on top, when the ball ran along the Felixstowe goal line but no one was on hand to make the vital touch.

Crane and Phillips worked hard to carve openings for the Seasiders as the visitors saw more of the ball in the second period but Moye and Folkard marshalled the home defence ensuring that opportunities were kept to a minimum. With both sides cancelling each other out the play lacked any real pattern or flow and as time went by the draw looked the most likely result.

Spencer, Morgan and Snell were introduced but the dye was cast and despite plenty of effort neither side could find the telling ball to break the deadlock.

The Seasiders now look forward to the visit of Tiptree United on Tuesday evening.

Saturday 11th March 2006 - Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton United  3 - 1  Godmanchester Rovers  (1-1)
Team
: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, James Drury, Gavin Frost, Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews, Lewis Pemberton, James Buckle, Danny Phillips, Gavin Crane ( Glenn Snell), Matt Morgan (Danny Spencer).  Unused Subs:- Daniel Glencastle, Danny Spurling, Steve Potts.
Manager Steve Potts was pleased to see his team collect three points against a hard working Godmanchester side. Despite dominating the first half the Seasiders only had a single goal from Captain Jimmy Andrews to show for their efforts and gifted the visitors a reply through an own goal to see the sides level at the break. Goddy improved in the second period, without threatening to score,  and Crane from the penalty spot and Phillips with a well taken volley secured the points and third spot in the table for the home side.

The game was never in doubt, despite heavy snow showers with spectators braving a cold wind to see the Seasiders maintain their winning run against an improving Godmanchester Rovers.

With Tuesday's game at Yarmouth still in their legs, Felixstowe lacked the decisive edge that would have turned possession into goals as they dominated the first half without threatening the imposing Armitage in the visitor's goal. Crane had first strike on goal after four minutes but failed to get strength in the shot from Pemberton's cross with Armitage easily collecting the ball.

Phillips and Morgan both saw shots go close and Blake produced a good tackle to deny the dangerous  Phillips at the expense of a corner on 12 minutes.
With Frost and Buckle winning plenty of ball in mid-field Felixstowe continued to stay on top with the opening goal arriving on 24 minutes. Crane met a free kick at the far post with his downward header beating Armitage and heading for the net before Captain Jimmy Andrews pictured above made sure by tapping the ball over the line for his first goal of the season.
Ten minutes before the break Simmons headed a hopeful long ball back toward Cudworth in the home goal only to find his keeper off the line and the ball drifting over his head for the equaliser. Goddy were encourage by their good fortune with Burking going close to taking the lead and winning a couple of corners as they enjoyed their best spell of the half.

Godmanchester started the second half brightly before Felixstowe gradually took control, regaining the lead on 57 minutes. Phillips made a good run into the area down the right and after delivering the ball was brought down for Mr Cooper to point to the spot. Gavin Crane pictured taking the spot kick made no mistake drilling the ball home from 12 yards.

Armitage produced a good save to deny Phillips before Crane fired the rebound over the bar. Both Spencer and Man of the Match Gavin Frost pictured above both went close before Danny Phillips right confirmed the win with  a powerful drive from 12 yards following Spencer's accurate cross as the full time whistle approached.

The Seasiders now look forward to the trip to Walsham-le Willows next Saturday.

Tuesday 7th March 2006 - Ridgeons League Division One
Great Yarmouth Town  0 - 2  Felixstowe & Walton United  (0-1)
Team
: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, James Drury, Gavin Frost, Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews, Lewis Pemberton (Daniel Glencastle), James Buckle, Dwayne Edwards (Glenn Snell), Gavin Crane (Danny Spencer), Matt Morgan.  Unused Subs:- None
Driving rain put the game in doubt, with both sets of players responding well to Mr. Patterson's decision to give the game every chance. Despite the slippery surface both teams produced periods of flowing football with Felixstowe's determination and concentration deservedly seeing them collect all three points.

Gavin Frost made light of the conditions, with the Seasiders facing the driving rain in the first half, winning much of the ball in midfield enabling Pemberton and Edwards to use their pace down the wings with Banham producing a good save to deny Crane in the early stages. Cudworth did well to smother Bussell's shot at the second attempt as the weather continued to deteriorate. Mr Patterson discussed the situation with the Captains, all agreeing to continue to the break
Gavin Crane scored the deserved opener on the half hour mark turning a low shot under Banham and just inside the near post.

At the interval the rain eased, encouraging the game to continue, but it soon returned with a vengeance after the resumption. Yarmouth improved in the second period with Felixstowe digging deep and concentrating on doing the simple things well to protect their single goal lead. The Seasiders always posed a threat on the break and doubled their advantage shortly before the final whistle when Matt Morgan turned home Spencer's precision cross.

With Chelsea live on the telly only 29 brave souls ventured to the Wellesley, with a special mention to the nine who made the journey from Felixstowe.
I hate to think what the pitch looked like the next morning - Thanks to Gt. Yarmouth for their hospitality and sportsmanship.

Saturday 4th March 2006 - Ridgeons League Division One
Fakenham Town  0 - 1  Felixstowe & Walton United   (0-0)
Team
: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, James Drury, Gavin Frost, Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews, Lewis Pemberton, James Buckle (Dwayne Edwards), Danny Phillips (Daniel Glencastle), Gavin Crane (Glenn Snell), Matt Morgan.  Unused Subs:- Steve Buckle
Felixstowe moved into the third promotion spot thanks to a 70th minute goal from Dwayne Edwards. Eddy may have been delayed in getting to the ground but their was no delay in getting on the score sheet, as he rattled the ball home only 47seconds after coming onto the field.

A bitterly cold wind was blowing on the North Norfolk coast but the match was never in doubt with the sun shining on the pitch all morning. Once again the Seasiders had good travelling support who were looking forward to an entertaining game between two in-form sides who like to play football on the ground, with the pitch looking well prepared for that.
It may have been the cold wind which prevented either side from performing to their best and produce a cohesive pattern of play but both keepers were put under pressure.
Young Danny Stockdale in the home goal made a number of fine if sometimes unconvincing saves to keep out the busy Felixstowe front line of Crane and Phillips and was pleased to see the ball strike a post and rebound to safety with Morgan in close attention in the early stages.

Pemberton and Morgan were lively down the flanks and Phillips and Crane both went close before Cudworth saved Haynes' fierce free kick at the expense of a corner on 25 minutes.

The Ghosts were enjoying their best spell of the game with McManus at the heart of the home sides good build up play and he looked unfortunate to have been ruled off-side after firing the ball past Cudworth into the net on the half hour.
As the half closed the Fakenham goal came under increased pressure with Savage clearing off the line and following a goalmouth scramble Pictured right  Stockdale was pleased to claim the ball and hear the half time whistle.

McKail shot wide for Fakenham following the start of the second period with Phillips creating a number of good openings only to be denied by Stockdale, the woodwork and side-netting.
With Buckle injured Edwards was introduced on 70 minutes and within 47 seconds he had broken the deadlock. Phillips provided the telling cross with Dwayne Edwards pictured left taking one touch to control the ball and the second to rifle it home.
Chances were squandered to make the game safe with Stockdale off his line quickly to deny Snell as he broke clear.
Without the second goal Felixstowe had a nervous end to the game with Kavanagh and Darby both regretting they had not done better with the chances they were presented with before the final whistle.

Tuesday 28th February 2006 - Ridgeons League Division One k.o. Cup
Felixstowe & Walton United   0 v  1  Tiptree United  (0-1)
Team
: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, James Drury, Gavin Frost, Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews, Lewis Pemberton, Matt Buckle (Darius Laws), Dwayne Edwards (Gavin Crane), Glenn Snell (Matt Morgan), Danny Spencer.  Unused Subs:- James Buckle, Daniel Glencastle
A well struck shot from James Mackey after 21 minutes was all that separated the sides on a cold windy night as both sets of players kept their heads and their footing on a surface that was not far from freezing.

Edwards created a couple of early openings for the Seasiders without testing Wood in the visitors goal before Cudworth saved well to deny Bryan as the game switched from end to end.
James Mackey drilled his shot low under the diving Cudworth to produce the only goal of the game on 21 minutes.

Snell, celebrating his 21st Birthday, stung the hands of Wood with a rasping shot from the edge of the area for the home sides best effort of the half.
Wood saved to keep out the dangerous Edwards after linking well with Spencer as Felixstowe looked to respond quickly after the interval, but it was the visitors who looked more likely to increase their lead with Cudworth producing two excellent saves to deny Collier and Bryan.
Spencer threatened to take the game into extra time but over the ninety the Jam Makers deserved to take their place in the next round.

Many thanks to the 81 supporters who braved the elements to cheer on both teams. We wish Tiptree well in the semi-finals of the competition.

Saturday 25th February 2006 - Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton United   6  v  0  March Town United  (1-0)
Team
: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, James Drury, Gavin Frost, Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews (Matt Morgan), Lewis Pemberton, James Buckle (Matt Buckle), Dwayne Edwards, Gavin Crane, Danny Spencer (Glenn Snell) Unused Subs:- Danny Phillips, Darius Laws
With a bitterly cold wind blowing across the pitch there was little to choose between the sides in the first half. Spencer's headed goal a minute before the break gave the Seasiders an interval lead but after the restart they went on to dominate the game.
Crane
bagged a second half hat-trick with Simmons opening his account for the home side before Matt Buckle made it six just before the final whistle.

Bright sunshine welcomed the players onto the field but the bitterly cold wind created problems for both teams in maintaining any degree of control over the ball. Brand, Francis and Wells were willing runners for March with Brand producing the Hares best attempt on goal forcing Cudworth to save at the expense of a corner in the 24th minute.

Smith, in the visitors goal, was down quickly to deny Edwards pictured above and the Crane and also did well to block Crane's shot on the turn - but neither keeper looked likely to concede a goal until Spencer struck in the 44th minute.
Felixstowe were awarded a free kick on the right ten yards from the edge of the area and when Frost whipped the ball in Danny Spencer rose in advance of the near post to deflect the ball past Smith for the opening goal pictured.

Following the half time 'team talk' Felixstowe showed greater purpose and within a minute were two up. Peachey and Edwards linked well down the right before Peachey crossed for Gavin Crane to score - pictured with his eye on the ball before volleying home his opening goal.

Five minutes later Stuart Simmons scored his first goal for the club when he advanced from defence for a corner rifling home the loose ball from ten yards - pictured.

The Hares continued to press for a reply, Francis producing the best chance after a good run from midfield but his shot was gathered by birthday boy Paul Cudworth at the second attempt. The speed of Edwards continued to damage the March defence with every attacking looking likely to add to the score and on 70 minutes Edwards crossed for Gavin Crane to score his Second.
Brand shot wide on a rare attack for Hares but it was now damage limitation with Gavin Crane completing his hat-trick, pictured right, with four minutes remaining after Snell's shot from the edge of the area had cannoned back off the woodwork.

Matt Buckle replacing his brother completed the scoring with a well taken shot pictured left as the March defence ran out of steam and were pleased to hear the final whistle.
Following today's results Felixstowe are now 4th in the First Division Table

Saturday 18th February 2006 - Ridgeons League Division One
Swaffham Town   2 v 2   Felixstowe & Walton United   (2-0)

Team
: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, Daniel Glencastle (Matt Morgan), Gavin Frost, Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews, Lewis Pemberton, James Buckle, Danny Phillips (Glenn Snell), Gavin Crane (Matt Buckle), Dwayne Edwards  Unused Subs:- Danny Spencer
The slope on the Shoemaker Lane pitch truly made the contest a game of two halves with both sides scoring twice going down hill.
Simmons pictured scored direct from a free kick after only two minutes with Norman doubling the interval lead for the Sadlers. After the break Crane quickly pulled a goal back and with thirty minutes remaining Phillips made it all square. Matt Buckle went close to claiming all three points for the Seasiders, but over the ninety minutes the draw was a fair result.

No shortage of fire power up front for the Seasiders with Crane, Phillips and Edwards all in the starting line up but unfortunately it proved difficult to provide them with ammunition in the first period with the home side well on top before the break. The Seasiders failed to register a single shot on goal or even win a corner kick while Cudworth was kept busy with Swaffham pressurising from the first whistle.

Neal Simmons opened the scoring after only two minutes with a well flighted free kick that sailed over Cudworth and just under the bar from all of thirty yards. Felixstowe's first meaningful attack on 17 minutes culminated in Pemberton shooting wide from distance and a minute later Swaffham doubled the lead. Gavin Norman pictured left stormed into the area from the right and his persistence saw him through two tackles before tucking the ball home from eight yards.

The Seasiders were forced to dig deep with Simmons, Andrews and Frost working hard to prevent the side slipping further behind. Ashby went close to extending the lead on 22 minutes when his shot under pressure narrowly missed Cudworth's right hand upright. Felixstowe started to steady build with Edwards down the right and Pemberton down the left but a Crane shot from distance was the nearest Cockerill in the home goal came to being tested in the first half and the Seasiders were pleased to hear the half time whistle without falling further behind.

Within three minutes of the restart the Seasiders were back in the game with Phillips making an excellent run down the right and his cross was turned home by Gavin Crane pictured despite a despairing tackle. Felixstowe poured forward in numbers with Morgan, Phillips, Crane and Edwards all threatening and on the hour it was all square. A well struck free kick from Pemberton was headed home by Danny Phillips, past the outstretched arm of Cockerill in the home goal pictured.

Swaffham had brief attacking spells and continued to look dangerous on the break but Felixstowe were now on top with Greenwood fortunate to escape with a caution after pulling back Phillips when running through on goal with twenty minutes remaining.
Norman went close fro Swaffham and Matt Buckle on as a late substitute saw his last minute effort fly wide of the post with Cockerill beaten. Felixstowe finished strongly but over the ninety minutes the draw was a fair result.

Saturday 11th February 2006 - Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton United  2 - 0 Gorleston  (0-0)

Team: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey (Aaron Carnell), Daniel Glencastle, Gavin Frost, Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews, Matt Morgan, James Buckle, Glenn Snell (Dwayne Edwards), Gavin Crane, Matt Buckle (Daniel Spencer)   Unused Subs:- Lewis Pemberton, Steve Buckle

Second half goals from Glenn Snell and Matt Morgan enlivened a game that had seen both keepers virtual spectators until the hour mark. Gorleston enjoyed their fair share of possession without testing Cudworth in the home goal but when Snell pounced to open the scoring the destination of the points looked assured.

With all the sides at the top of the table winning today it was 'as you were' following three points gained at Dellwood Avenue this afternoon. Still sixth the Seasiders are currently only two points behind third placed Swaffham Town who they visit on Saturday.

Gorleston, showing a number of changes to the side playing on our visit to Emerald Park in September, started brightly with Louw, Landemove and Watt all exerting early pressure.

Fergusson was influential in the Greens build up play and Thompson, Manning and Harvey dealt comfortably with Felixstowe's early tactics of attacking through the middle of the field.

In turn Simmons and Andrews were untroubled by the Greens attacks as both sides cancelled each other out with neither keeper stretched in a tame first half. Indeed the first save of the game came on 35 minutes when Morgan found space wide on the right and when the ball found Crane his shot was finger tipped over the bar by Marsden in the visitors goal for a corner. This failed as a precursor to any further action in the first half with everyone pleased to hear the Referees whistle for the interval.

Frost and Buckle continued to win good ball for the Seasiders after the break but with little width the Gorleston defence continued to prevent Snell and Crane from receiving any quality ball until Glenn Snell (right) found space on the right from Matt Buckle's through ball to open the scoring on the hour.
The Greens started to lose their shape and the introduction of Edwards and Spencer provided the space and width to see the Seasiders on top for the remainder of the game. Gorleston keeper Marsden was fortunate to remain on the field after advancing out of his area to bring down Edwards after he outpaced the visiting defence. Frost took the resulting free kick with Matt Morgan pictured  heading home to double the lead.

Marsden produced good saves to deny Crane (right), Morgan and Edwards as the Seasiders found the form that had deserted them in the first half and finished the game well on top.

Tuesday 7th February 2006- Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton United   2 - 0  Cornard United  (0-0)
Team
: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, Daniel Glencastle, Gavin Frost, Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews, Lewis Pemberton (Danny Spencer 65), Matt Buckle, Glenn Snell (Dwayne Edwards 84), Gavin Crane (Danny Spurling 89), Matt Morgan   Unused Subs:- James Buckle, Aaron Carnell
Matt Buckle's deflected shot produced Felixstowe's opening goal, only seconds after the start of the second half, to enliven a game that must have had many in the stand falling asleep during the first 45 minutes.
Snell struck the cross bar and his fierce volley produced a fine save from Tanner before Matt Morgan wrapped up the game for the Seasiders just after the hour mark to secure a valuable three points, although the game may not live long in the memory.

Three changes from Saturday's game with Morgan, Snell and Matt Buckle in with Edwards, Spencer and James Buckle on the bench.
On a lively pitch with a brisk cross wind both sides struggled to find their usual flowing passing game with few scoring opportunities in the first half. Cornard survived an early goalmouth scramble and Cudworth had to be alert to palm away a cross Kemp that looked to drifting inside the far post as the visitors posted their most dangerous attack of the half. Morgan twice met crosses from Pemberton with his head, one over the bar and the second comfortably held by Tanner but neither side looked likely to trouble the scorers.

From the restart Felixstowe moved up a gear and committed more players forward with reward obtained less than a minute into the second half. Snell's shot was blocked and when the ball fell to Matt Buckle he fired the ball home thanks to a deflection which wrong footed Tanner in the Cornard goal.
Morgan continued to find good space down the right linking well with Peachey and the pair produced a good opening for Snell who's volley from the edge of the area cannoned off the angle of bar and post.
Cornard maintained their share of possession but failed to test Cudworth with the lively Cutts well marshalled by Simmons and Andrews. Just after the hour Crane created a good opportunity for himself and when his shot was blocked Felixstowe were again there in numbers with Matt Morgan firing home the loose ball.
Tanner saved well to deny Frost's well struck free kick but there was to be no further addition to the score and with a number of stoppages further disrupting the flow of the game the match drifted to the final whistle.

Not a classic but no shortage of effort from both sets of players and a valuable three points for the Seasiders.

Saturday 4th February 2006- Ridgeons League Division One
Haverhill Rovers   3 v 2  Felixstowe & Walton United   (2-1)
Team
: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, Daniel Glencastle ( Matt Buckle 89), Gavin Frost , Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews, Lewis Pemberton, James Buckle (Matt Morgan 75), Dwayne Edwards, Gavin Crane, Danny Spencer   Unused Subs:- Aaron Carnell
A late goal from substitute Darren Lyons secured all three points for the home side as the Seasiders second half performance looked to have earned at least a point.
Hunt opened the scoring for Haverhill with Frost equalising for the Seasiders before Challis gave Rovers the interval lead, which reflected the balance of play in the first half.
Felixstowe were the dominant force in the second period and when Crane equalised with 22 minutes remaining they appeared the more likely to win the game. Haverhill defended resiliently and from a Felixstowe corner, with three minutes remaining, Lyons  broke running almost the full length of the pitch to fire home the winner.

Gavin Frost far right scores at Hamlet Croft

An unchanged side for the visit to Hamlet Croft with expectations of a close game as sixth played eighth in the table and once again the Seasiders were well supported for their journey to West Suffolk.

From the first whistle both teams appeared more confident going forward than defending with early opportunities for both sides. Jenkin's shot from distance only just cleared the visitors cross bar and Cudworth was forced to save from Palmer following good build up play from Challis and Hickey. In reply Spencer went close after a positive run from Edwards as the game flowed freely.
The opening goal duly arrived on 13 minutes following Haverhill pressure with captain Marcus Hunt pictured below steering home Hickey's corner at the near post. Back came Felixstowe with Bavester saving from Crane and Spencer, both at the expense of corners, and from another flag kick on twenty minutes the ball ran to Gavin Frost who volleyed home the equaliser.

Both sides created further chances with Haverhill looking the more potent and on 34 minutes they regained the lead from a well struck Jay Challis pictured above with James Buckle volley as he met Jenkin's cross from the right.

The interval lead was no more than Haverhill deserved but after the break they defended in depth with just the willing Palmer posing any attacking threat.  On 67 minutes it was all square after a goal mouth scramble which saw Bavester twice parry the ball before being finally despatched by Gavin Crane pictured hand raised above .
Haverhill defended doggedly and looked to be hanging on, but with Felixstowe committing players forward for a win they applied the counter punch to great affect. With three minutes remaining Felixstowe earned a corner and when the ball broke clear to Darren Lyons he set off on a determined run and avoiding two despairing tackles fired the ball home to claim the points for the home side.

An entertaining and hard fought game with the destination of the points in doubt to the final whistle.

Monday 30th January 2006- Ridgeons League Division One
Long Melford  1 -  4 Felixstowe & Walton United  (0-2)

Team: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, Daniel Glencastle, Gavin Frost , Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews, Lewis Pemberton, James Buckle (Matt Buckle 82), Dwayne Edwards ( Glenn Snell 68), Gavin Crane (Danny Spurling 75) , Danny Spencer   Unused Subs:- Matt Morgan, Steve Buckle

A Hat-trick from Gavin Crane, two from the penalty spot, saw the Seasiders through to a comfortable win at Stoneylands this evening.
Danny Spencer
scored the opener with Crane adding a second before the interval and despite good build up play the home side did not trouble Cudworth in the Felixstowe goal.
Substitute Tom Vale pulled a goal back after Crane had extended the lead from the spot midway through the second period, but despite posing the Felixstowe defence a few questions it proved to be too little too late and Crane wrapped up the game and the points with his third goal of the night and second from the spot.

Glencastle and Crane replaced the injured Drury and Phillips for the Monday evening trip to Long Melford with the Seasiders looking to maintain the standard set against league leaders Stanway Rovers.
Felixstowe pressed from the opening whistle with the speed and movement of Spencer, Crane and Edwards creating a number of positive openings. The home keeper Turnnige was kept busy collecting shots from Frost, Andrews and Crane as the home defence were pressed deep. A succession of corners led to the opening goal on nineteen minutes as Danny Spencer sped in front of Turnigge to head home Frost's flag kick from close range.
Long Melford produced good build up play but Andrews, Simmons, Peachey and Glencastle ensured that keeper Cudworth remained a relative spectator.
Peachey, Pemberton and Crane linked well down the right before Donnelly produced a good tackle to reduce the danger. Turnnige saved well to deny Glencastle and Crane before the second goal arrived five minutes before the interval. Pemberton's deep cross from the right was allowed to run through a crowded penalty area and Gavin Crane swept the ball home from close range at the far post.

After a scrappy opening to the second period Felixstowe extended their lead after Hanton was adjudged to have blocked Peachey's cross with an arm, Gavin Crane stepping up to rifle the ball home.
Straight from the kick off Long Melford replied as McCarthy's long ball found Tom Vale and he outpaced the stretched Felixstowe defence to rifle the ball home. Two minutes later Crane was bundles over in the area and once again he stepped up to score from the spot and secure the points.
Long Melford enjoyed their best attacking spell at this point winning a number of corners and ensuring Cudworth was kept busy to the final whistle, but there was to be no further reply and the Seasiders, in front of nearly forty travelling supporters made it two wins in three days.

Saturday 28th January 2006- Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton United  2 - 1 Stanway Rovers  (2-0)

Team: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, James Drury (Daniel Glencastle 85), Gavin Frost , Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews, Lewis Pemberton, James Buckle, Danny Phillips ( Matt Morgan 45), Gavin Crane , Danny Spencer   Unused Subs:- Matt Buckle, Glenn Snell.

A rare defeat for the league leaders at Dellwood Avenue this afternoon as the Seasiders played to their full potential as a combined unit to deservedly claim all three points. James Buckle and Gavin Crane gave the Seasiders a half time lead following an excellent all round team performance in the first period.
After the break Stanway increased the pressure and pulled a goal back through Ray Turner with fifteen minutes remaining. Resolute defending from the home side saw them through as the visitors fought to prevent only their second league defeat of the season.

Gavin Crane returning for the absent Edwards was the only change to last Saturday's line up as the Seasiders faced their sternest challenge of the season so far. Having not beaten a side above them in the league prior to last Saturday's win at Fulbourn, Manager Steve Potts was looking for his side to build on that performance and maintain contact with the top teams in the division.
His players responded well with Frost and Buckle tenacious in midfield, limiting Stanway's attacking options and provide opportunities for Pemberton and Spencer to make ground down the flanks and enable Crane and Phillips to keep the visiting back line busy during the first half.
The opening goal came on ten minutes after Phillips' shot above had been well saved by Church at the expense of a corner and when the resulting flag kick fell to James Buckle pictured left on the edge of the area he struck the ball well, with Church only able to watch it fly past his left hand into the net.
Burch and Newson showed speed down the wings for Stanway but were well marshalled by Drury and Peachey with the ever dangerous Witney and Turner restricted to shots from distance by the vigilant Andrews and Simmons.

Felixstowe extended their lead on the half hour following Frost's free kick that rebounded off keeper Church. Phillips was first to the loose ball and after his shot was blocked Gavin Crane pictured right was on hand to steer the ball home.
Crane went close to increasing the lead three minutes later when Church produced a good save following another fine run and cross from Phillips.
Stanway finished the half strongly in search of a reply with the Felixstowe back line holding firm but pleased to hear the half time whistle. The influential Phillips limped off just before the break to be replaced by Morgan, who's defensive abilities would be required in the second period.

Stanway were not going to allow their unbeaten away record to be relinquished easily with the Seasiders defending in depth for much of the second half. Cuddworth made a number of fine saves and was thankful to Pemberton and Morgan for goal line clearances as Burch and Newson both went close.
The deserved reply came on eighty minutes after Witney fed Ray Turner on the edge of the area who unleashed an unstoppable shot to set up an exciting end to the game.
Felixstowe did not need reminding that two goal leads had been surrendered before this season, but were in no mood to lose this one and showing great concentration and resolve saw out time to record a notable victory.

Saturday 21st January 2006- Ridgeons League Division One
Fulbourn Institute  2 - 3  Felixstowe & Walton United  (2-1)
Team
: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, James Drury (Daniel Glencastle 40), Gavin Frost , Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews, Lewis Pemberton, James Buckle (Matt Morgan 70), Danny Phillips, Dwayne Edwards, Danny Spencer   Unused Subs:- Gavin Hammond, Steve Buckle
A warm and hospitable welcome greeted the Seasiders for their first ever visit to Fulbourn on a sunny afternoon. The Cambridgeshire side opened the season at Dellwood Avenue with a 3-2 win, and the score-line was repeated this afternoon - this time in favour of Felixstowe.
Three goals in four first half minutes as Spencer left put the visitors ahead before Pettitt and Abbi replied quickly to give Fulbourn the advantage at the break.
On the hour Cudworth made an excellent save, with the ball eventually scrambled away when the home side look odds on to extend their advantage. The pendulum swung and goals from Frost and Peachey saw the Seasiders collect a valuable three points.

The inclusion of Spencer and Edwards to the staring line were the only changes from Tuesday's team for the Seasiders. Both sides obviously favoured attack to defence with goals looking likely from the first whistle.
Spencer stretching to reach a long through ball put the first serious effort of the game over the bar in the tenth minute but made no mistake seven minutes later when he converted from close range following a Drury corner after Banthorpe had saved well to deny Edwards.

Within two minutes it was all square when in similar fashion Pettitt was first to the loose ball following a corner to rifle the ball past Cudworth. With scarcely time to settle the home side were ahead as Joey Abbi tucked the ball home at the far post as the the ball was allowed to run across the area.
Both sides looked capable of adding to the score-line as attacks dominated but defences were not breeched again before the break.

Felixstowe had a narrow escape when Cudworth saved well at the expense of a corner and confident appeals for a penalty were turned away after Mhishi had gone down as Cudworth looked to capture a loose ball. From the hour mark the visitors confidence grew with the equaliser following in the 68th minute when the tireless Phillips drilled a fierce cross deep into the area with Frost (right) hammering home his opening goal for the club at the far post.
Five minutes later and the Seasiders regained the lead from Peachey's sweetly struck free kick from the edge of the area which flew into the net past the outstretched hand of Banthorpe.

Fulbourn poured forward in numbers earning  a succession of corners but the Felixstowe defence withstood the pressure and eight minutes of injury time to collect all three points.

Many thanks to the Fulbourn committee for their hospitality and we wish them every success with their plans for the new ground.

Tuesday 17th January 2006- Ridgeons League Division One
Tiptree United  5 - 1  Felixstowe & Walton United  (2-0)

Team: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, James Drury, Gavin Frost (Dwayne Edwards 57), Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews (Andy Crump 82), Lewis Pemberton, James Buckle, Danny Phillips, Gavin Crane (Danny Spencer), Matt Morgan   Unused Subs:- Daniel Glencastle, Steve Buckle

Tipree's outstanding foot-balling performance was over-shadowed by their number 9s theatrical performance which led to Simmons' dismissal shortly after half time. Two minutes earlier Collier had gone to ground and stayed there clutching his head in an attempt to cause trouble for Andrews. The assistant close to the action was able to inform the Referee that no such contact had taken place and no action was taken.
When Collier then deployed the same tactic after a clash with Simmons the Felixstowe centre back was not so fortunate and was off.

The Seasiders recorded two changes to the starting eleven with Frost and Morgan in the line for the trip to Essex.
An enjoyable game was in prospect between two free scoring sides with a good number of supporters travelling from Suffolk as the Seasiders looked stay in touch with the promotion hopefuls.

The Jam makers were lively in attack from the start and were ahead after only three minutes with the Referee having no hesitation in pointing to the spot after Frost had tripped Collier and Rochester stepped up to fire home the penalty kick.  A well timed tackle from Drury denied Collier as the visiting defence appeared stretched before enjoying their best spell of the half after Wootten had saved well from Crane's well struck free kick, at the expense of a corner. More corners followed for Felixstowe as they enjoyed good possession without really threatening the home goal.
Collier extended the lead on 26 minutes when Tiptree captured the ball in midfield and broke quickly. The number nine drew the Felixstowe keeper to the edge of his area before nimbly go past him and sliding the ball, from an acute angle, into an unguarded net.

Bryan's pace posed a constant threat down the left creating a number of dangerous opportunities  with both Leeke and Coe spurning chances to add a third, heading over when unchallenged.
Morgan's header just wide of the far post, with Wooten beaten, from Pemberton's cross was the nearest the Seasiders came to a first half reply and Cudworth saved well from Robinson as the home side finished the half strongly.

The incidents during the first five minutes of the second half were unnecessary, out of keeping with what had gone before and certainly soured the rest of the evening.
For the record:
Bryan scored direct from a free kick on 55 minutes.

Manning scored a headed goal after 71 minutes.

Hill made it five three minutes from time.
Edwards netted a late consolation on 90 minutes.

And so on to Fulbourn on Saturday.

Saturday 14th January 2006- Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton United  4 - 1 Thetford Town  (3-1)

Team: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, James Drury, Matt Buckle, Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews, Lewis Pemberton, James Buckle (Gavin Frost 63), Danny Phillips, Gavin Crane, Dwayne Edwards (Matt Morgan 75) Unused Subs:- Glencastle, Pugh, Laws.
With fixtures to follow against Tiptree, Fulbourn and Stanway three points at home to Thetford were vital from today's game. Phillips and Crane converted two of the numerous opportunities created with Collins pulling a goal back for the visitors before man of the match Matt Buckle quickly regained a two goal lead to take into the interval.
Thetford  worked hard in search of a goal in the second half without unsettling Cudworth in the home goal and Morgan confirmed the win with a well taken goal five minutes from time.

Steve Potts named an unchanged side for the third game running and the home side were quickly onto the offensive from the first whistle. The opening goal came after only five minutes with Danny Phillips converting Edward's precision right wing cross from eight yards. More chances followed for the home side before Skipp saw Thetford's best opportunity blocked by Cudworth from close range with the Felixstowe keeper also alert to hold Brooks' header from a free kick as the visitors enjoyed their best spell of the game.
The defensive line of Peachey, Andrews, Simmons and Drury once again dented the opposition attacks with Phillips, Crane and Buckle all going close before Gavin Crane increased the advantage on 38 minutes with a well taken shot following persistence and a good cross from Phillips.

Two minutes later a speculative shot from Zak Collins from outside the area looked comfortable for Cudworth until the ball bounced from his grasp and into the net for a quick reply for Thetford.
a minute later Felixstowe regained their two goal advantage as Matt Buckle swept the ball home following another good Phillips' move down the right.

After the break, knowing a two goal lead could not be relied on, Felixstowe went in search of another with Snowdon in the Thetford goal saving well to deny Philips at the expense of a corner and then standing tall as Phillips, again with only the keeper to beat, placed the ball over the bar. Richards, Tucker and Rourke pressed for the visitors but failed to trouble the Felixstowe back-line while Phillips found space and struck the woodwork from Pemberton's left wing cross. Snowdon saved well to deny Pemberton but could do little to prevent Matt Morgan from claiming the fourth as he met a deep ball from Drury and placed his well taken shot inside the far upright.

Following last weeks cup defeat this was an important game for the Seasiders, which they came through well,

Saturday 7th January 2006 - Alliance Outsourcing Suffolk Senior Cup
Framlingham Town 3 - 3 Felixstowe & Walton United  aet
  Framilngham won 4-3 on penalties
Team
: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, James Drury (Daniel Glencastle 85), Matt Buckle (Matt Morgan 87), Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews, Lewis Pemberton, James Buckle, Danny Phillips (Shaun Pugh 75), Gavin Crane, Dwayne Edwards. Unused Subs:- Andy Crump & Steve Buckle.
Goals in the last five minutes of normal time from Chamberlain and Whatling turned this cup tie on it's head just as Felixstowe appeared to be strolling into the semi-finals.
First half goals from Matt Buckle and Gavin Crane had put the Seasiders firmly in charge and despite squandering numerous other chances in a below par performance they prevented a hard working Framlingham side from having any sight of goal until the closing minutes.
An own gaol put the home side ahead in extra time before Crane headed home his second to take the tie into the lottery of penalty kicks. The Framlingham players kept their nerve to win 4-3 on penalties after six kicks apiece to complete an unlikely but well earned victory and a place in the semi-finals where they will play Capel Plough.
We wish Framlingham success in their semi-final.

Steve Potts named an unchanged side for the trip to Framlingham this afternoon and although the home side were at the foot of the SIL Premier Division the Felixstowe Manager was looking for a professional and focussed approach to the game from his side to ensure success.

The home keeper Louis Johnson was kept busy, saving well to deny Edwards, as the visitors forced early corners. Kerry impressed throughout for Framlingham and in Frams first attack saw his shot comfortably collected by Cudworth.
Matt Buckle enjoyed a positive first half breaking the deadlock on 12 minutes with a well taken goal from six yards.

Kerry linked well with Payne down the right to produce the home sides first corner two minutes later and despite Fram enjoying their fair share of possession it was Felixstowe that continued to threaten with Gavin Crane doubling the lead four minutes before the interval when he converted Phillips' cross from the right.

Framingham worked hard in the second half without threatening the Felixstowe goal and although the Seasiders took their foot off the pedal they did create a number of chances with Phillips and Crane both going close with one Crane strike hitting the home crossbar. The lack of a third and decisive goal continued to give Framlingham encouragement with the introduction of Reeve noticeably increasing the pressure on the Felixstowe goal.
In the closing minutes the home side pressed forward in numbers but looked to have it too late until Reeve played the ball down to Jack Chamberlain on the edge of the area with his sweetly struck volley giving Cudworth no chance in the visitors goal.
Panic bells started to ring and deep into injury time Lloyd-Smith's corner was bundled home at the far post by Neil Whatling to take the game into extra time.

The momentum was now with the home side and a minute after the restart Cattermole's cross from the right could only be helped into his own net by Peachey. Belatedly Felixstowe stepped up a gear with Pemberton, Morgan and Crane combining for the latter to head home the equaliser. Johnson saved well to deny Morgan and Edwards spurned two excellent opportunities from close quarters with Johnson given time to save.

And so to penalties - after five each it was 3-3 and into sudden death with Matt Hudson firing home the all important goal for the home side.
Having snatched victory literally from the jaws of defeat Framlingham were justifiably elated with Felixstowe left to consider how they failed to remain professional and focussed for the full 90 minutes,

We wish Framlingham every success in the semi-finals.

Monday 2nd January 2006- Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton United  3 - 1  Stowmarket Town  (1-0)
Team
: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, James Drury, Matt Buckle, Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews, Lewis Pemberton, James Buckle, Danny Phillips (Shaun Pugh 65), Gavin Crane (Gavin Frost 73), Dwayne Edwards (Matt Morgan 89). Unused Subs:- Daniel Glencastle, Andy Crump.
A bumper Bank Holiday crowd were entertained with four goals in the East Suffolk derby at Dellwood avenue this afternoon. Crane gave the Seasiders a slender interval lead from the last kick of the first half after the home side had hit the woodwork twice.
Crane with his second and Steve Buckle from the penalty spot took the game away from Stow before Cracknell pulled a goal back directly from a free kick to give the visitors hope. Stow pressed forward with Smith going close but Felixstowe saw out time to collect all three points.

Simmons' return to central defence was the only change that Steve Buckle had to make to the side that played at Hadleigh on Boxing day. Mascot for Today's game was Matthew Pipe pictured before the game with Officials and Captains.

The Seasiders were quickly on the attack with Phillips firing over from Pemberton's cross and Steve Buckle hammering his shot against the underside of the Stow bar before it was cleared for a corner by a relieved defence.
Carr shot over from distance as Stow threatened with Cudworth collecting Platt's deflected shot as both sides looked for the opening goal.
Phillip's steered the ball over the advancing Daniels, in the Stow goal, and looked to have broken the deadlock before the ball cannoned off the far post and was scrambled to safety.
A good spell of pressure from the visitors saw Cudworth spoon Smythe's  low shot clear following a free kick from Taylor-Holt.
Daniels saved well to deny Phillips and then Crane before Cudworth in the home goal received treatment as he collected bravely under pressure from Ager. Both keepers deserved a clean sheet to take into the break but with the final kick of the half Gavin Crane met Pembertons cross at the far post to side foot home the opener.

Stow were put under pressure following the restart and after surviving two penalty appeals Phillips was brought down in the area with Mr Allen pointing to the spot. James Buckle stepped up to drive the ball home under Daniels' left hand and when Gavin Crane swooped to head home from Edward's low cross just before the hour mark the game looked safe for the home side.
Having been firmly on the back foot Stow pressed forward and were rewarded when Tony Cracknell made a quick reply with a looping free kick over the head of Cudworth with 30 minutes remaining. The visitors dug deep in search of a further goal with Felixstowe's Captain Andrews producing a timely tackle to end Smith's run into the area before Carr fired over the home cross bar when well placed. Despite competing to the final whistle the second goal, that may have produced a tense finale, could not be found and Felixstowe comfortably held on to win the first game of the new year.

Today saw the 1,000th paying spectator of the season through the gate at Dellwood Avenue with regular supporter 'Hoody' pictured receiving a bottle of champagne from the Felixstowe Secretary Jayne Ryan.

Monday 26th December 2005 - Ridgeons League Division One
Hadleigh United  1 - 4  Felixstowe & Walton United  (1-2)
Team: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, James Drury (Daniel Glencastle 78), Matt Buckle (Gavin Frost 78), Andy Crump, Jimmy Andrews, Lewis Pemberton, James Buckle, Danny Phillips, Gavin Crane, Dwayne Edwards (Shaun Pugh 74). Unused Subs:- Matt Morgan, Danny Spencer.

There was little festive cheer for Dean Skinner’s side from the Seasiders who ended the year on a high note with this convincing victory. Despite being outplayed in the first half Hadleigh dug in after the break to get more of the game but were undone by two late goals from the visitors.

When Dwayne Edwards somehow weaved his way into space to cross low and hard across the goal for Danny Phillips to lift the ball over Whitwell in the 9th minute it looked ominous for the home side but to their credit they quickly replied with Mark Beer glancing home the equaliser at the near post from Dean Dale’s free kick just 8 minutes later.

Felixstowe dominated the half but Whitwell was only forced into one save turning over a James Buckle effort before his brother Matt saw his low shot from the edge of the area deflected wide of the Hadleigh ‘keeper to see Felixstowe turn round with their noses in front.

While Steve Potts side continued to have the better of the possession Hadleigh had their moments with Cudworth having to punch clear under pressure and Peachey clearing off the line before Felixstowe put the game beyond Hadleigh with 12 minutes left, Crane put Pugh in the clear with a penetrating through ball but Whitwell halted his run illegally inside the area and James Buckle stepped up only to see his penalty saved by the Hadleigh ‘keeper but he reacted first to stab the loose ball home.

Gavin Crane got the goal his all round play deserved with two minutes left finishing calmly under pressure to add the fourth against a Hadleigh side that at times were outclassed but never outfought.

Tuesday 13th December 2005 - Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton United  2 - 0 Whitton United  (2-0)
Team: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, James Drury, Toby Farmer, Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews, Lewis Pemberton, James Buckle, Danny Phillips, Glenn Snell (Spencer), Dwayne Edwards
First half goals from Danny Phillips and Dwayne Edwards secured three points for the Seasiders in the local derby this evening.

Simmons, Pemberton, Buckle, Phillips and Edwards all returned to the side for the visit of neighbours Whitton United to Dellwood Avenue. Lawrence Leggett made his debut in goal for the visitors having played at Dellwood Avenue on Saturday for the Seasiders Reserve team - must have been one of the quickest returns on record.

With the sides level on points before the start of the game it was always going to be an even contest with two quality finishes making the difference.
Whitton started brightly with Wright going close from the edge of the box before Phillips opened the scoring on 15 minutes. A flowing move down the right saw Pemberton cross and Snell's short pass found Phillips who made no mistake from 12 yards.
Bartholomew and O'Neill kept the Felixstowe defence busy with Simmons, Drury and Andrews happy conceding corners to clear any sign of danger.

Stewart headed over from O'Neill's corner and Cudworth was quickly out of his area to deny O'Neill before Edwards produced a quality goal to double the Seasiders lead.
The danger once again came down the right with Pemberton, Spencer and Phillips involved in the build up and when the ball ran to Edwards on the left of the Whitton area  he placed his shot with precision past the right of the diving Leggett and inside the post.

Cudworth saved from Bartholomew after the break with Whitton looking for a quick reply and Wright headed with power but wide of the target from O'Neill's corner.
Farmer had an outstanding game in midfield winning the ball and distributing wisely. Phillips and Edwards ensured the visiting defence could not settle on the ball and the two combined with Edwards low cross fired over the bar by Phillips with ten minutes remaining. A goal from Whitton would have set up an exciting finish, but despite good build up play they failed to gain a clear strike on goal and the Seasiders collected all three points from a competent all round performance.

Ely City  2 - 0 Felixstowe & Walton United  (0-0)
Team: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, James Drury (Glencastle), Toby Farmer, Andy Crump, Jimmy Andrews, Matt Buckle, Matt Morgan, Glenn Snell, Gavin Crane (Hammond), Shaun Pugh
With Phillips injured Crane and Snell, cup-tied on Tuesday, returned to the starting line up. Gavin Crane unfortunately limped off with half an hour played and despite the efforts of Snell, a lone runner in attack, the Seasiders failed to score for the first time this season. Indeed it looked as if the game was heading for a goal-less draw until a double substitution for Ely change the course of the game.

Felixstowe had produced good early pressure with Crane and Peachey linking well and Morgan heading just over the bar from Peachey's cross in a bright opening. Buckle also headed wide and Dewsbury fired wide of Cudworth's goal but neither keeper was under any pressure with the first save, comfortably made by Cudworth, on the stroke of half time from Munns.

Chatters and Munns looked an increasing threat for Ely and on 65 minutes Ely introduced Westcott and Webb with the pace of the Ely attacks immediately increasing. The opening goal on 72 minutes came from substitute Westcott, latching onto a long clearance before running on to fire the ball under Cudworth in the visitors goal.
Crump, producing a good game in defence, went close with a glancing header for Felixstowe before Ely added their second on 77 minutes with Warren heading home from Chatter's free kick.
Cudworth bravely denied Munns from adding a third close to the final whistle, but Ely were not to be denied the three points their second half performance deserved.

Tuesday 6th December 2005 - Ridgeons League Cup 2nd Round
Felixstowe & Walton United  1 - 5  Lowestoft Town  (0-3)
Team: Paul Cudworth, Daniel Glencastle, James Drury (Milbourne), Toby Farmer, James Peachey, Jimmy Andrews, Matt Buckle, Matt Morgan, Danny Phillips (Ingham), Andy Crump (Leeson), Gavin Hammond
From the moment Cockrill rifled home the opening goal on 27 minutes there was to be only one winner. Within six minutes it was three with Godbold and Poppy adding to the score and Stokeld rattling the home crossbar. McKenna and Mcgee made it five in the second half with Morgan getting the final touch to a late consolation for the Seasiders.

Six enforced changes from Saturday's line up at Downham for the Seasiders, but the sides looked evenly matched until the first goal. Hammond, making his first team debut for Felixstowe was lively on the left wing in the early stages providing heading opportunities for Crump and Buckle that were comfortably handled by Reynolds.
Gradually Lowestoft moved up a gear to show their Premier division credentials.
The opening goal came on 27 minutes when Darren Cockrill seized on to a loose ball in midfield before sprinting through the home defence and firing powerfully under the diving Cudworth from the edge of the area. Lowestoft's movement and speed tested the home defence and after a flowing move involving Mcgee and Godbold, Stokeld crossed for Jamie Godbold to double the advantage.
Carl Poppy raced in from the right hand touch to fire home the third three minutes later before Drury relieved the pressure slightly with a shot from distance which went just wide of the Lowestoft goal. Stokeld struck the bar with venom with the ball bouncing down and away to safety as the blues finished the half in full command.

Cudworth saved Woodrow's shot on 74 minutes but Alistair McKenna was first to the loose ball to tap home the fourth. Gary Mcgee added the fifth before Matt Morgan claimed a consolation goal six minutes from time.
A comprehensive victory for Lowestoft and we wish them success in the next round.

Saturday 3rd December 2005 - Ridgeons League Division One
Downham Town  0 - 3 Felixstowe & Walton United  (0-3)
Team: Paul Cudworth (Crane), James Peachey, James Drury (Glencastle), Matt Morgan, Stuart Simmons (Crump), Jimmy Andrews, Lewis Pemberton, James Buckle, Glenn Snell, Gavin Crane, Shaun Pugh (Buckle M)
First half goals from Gavin Crane and Glen Snell with two, saw the Seasiders comfortably in control at Downham. McAnally in the home goal prevented the lead from increasing during the second half with Cudworth denying Toll a consolation goal close to the final whistle.

James Buckle and Gavin Crane, replacing Toby Farmer and Danny Phillips, were the only changes from Tuesday's line up as the Seasiders journeyed into the Fens to Downham.
Pugh shone from the start down the left and after beating the keeper was only denied by Fendley's clearance off the line at the expense of a corner on five minutes. McNally produced a good save from Crane as he met Pugh's cross before the home side threatened Cudworth's goal with long range efforts from Toll and Wren. Elden looked lively for Downham but with Buckle and Morgan winning ball in midfield, Pugh and Pemberton breaking down the flanks and Snell and Crane dangerous in attack the pressure increased on the home goal.
Snell headed wide from Peachey's cross and Crane had the ball in the net, but ruled off-side, before the breakthrough came on 36 minutes. Pugh's run and cross down the left was met by Gavin Crane gliding high above the keeper to head home a picture book goal.
Glenn Snell doubled the lead three minutes later with Pugh once again the provider. Pugh's angled drive was saved by McAnally but Pugh's perseverance saw him first to the rebound with Snell turning the ball home.
Pressure was sustained on the home goal and on the stroke of half time Buckle won the ball and surged forward, his slide-rule pass found Glenn Snell who steered the ball past the advancing McAnally from the edge of the area.

The Seasiders continued to control the game in the second period with McAnally the busier of the two keepers, Cudworth being forced into serious action two minutes from time when he was quickly off his line to deny Toll a late consolation.
Matt Buckle, Crump and Glencastle were introduced in the second half as Felixstowe recorded their first win at Downham in five visits.

Tuesday 29th November 2005 - Division One Knock Out Cup - First round
Felixstowe & Walton United  3 - 2  Long Melford (2-2)
Team
: Paul Cudworth (Crane), James Peachey, James Drury, Toby Farmer, Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews, Lewis Pemberton (Buckle M), Matt Morgan, Danny Phillips, Glenn Snell, Shaun Pugh
New signing Glenn Snell would not have expected to mark his debut with an appearance in goal but with Paul Cudworth unable to resume for the second half Glenn pulled on the gloves. Well protected by the back four he did not have a save to make and Gavin Crane, also on his debut, slotted home the winner with 15 minutes remaining.
Phillips gave the home side an early lead with French equalising from the spot. White put the visitors ahead with Farmer restoring parity before the break.
Long Melford failed to test the stand in keeper as the Seasiders progressed to the second round.

New signings Glenn Snell, from Woodbridge, and Gavin Crane, from Needham Market, featured on the team sheet with Snell in the starting line up. Morgan also made a start in place of the injured James Buckle and produced a man of the match performance in midfield.
Phillips opened the scoring after only four minutes reacting first to Simmon's shot that came back off the bar to give the Seasiders an early lead. Jones produced a good save to deny Pugh following an excellent defence splitting pass from Morgan before Long Melford produced their first dangerous attack on twelve minutes. Meadows' through ball found Taylor in space and Cudworth made an excellent save from close range and as the ball ran loose he bravely blocked Taylor's follow up but sustained an injury as he did so. Following a lengthy injury break Cuddy played on but had to carried off at the interval.
The lively Meadows pressured Andrews in the area on 22 minutes and the Felixstowe skipper brought him down to concede a penalty with Tony French stepping up to fire the spot kick home.
Felixstowe continued to build well through midfield with Farmer and Morgan impressing. Jones saved comfortably from Phillips before White put the visitors ahead shortly before half time with a well struck shot from the edge of the area. With seconds remaining to the break Farmer volleyed home from Drury's corner to make it all square at the interval.

Snell donned the gloves after the break, replacing the injured Cudworth, with Crane making his debut in attack.  English cleared off the line from Phillip's header and Jones saved from Morgan's header as Felixstowe created opportunities and Crane secured the win as he turned home the ball from close range following a good run and cross from Pemberton.
Melford enjoyed good spells of pressure without testing Snell and Felixstowe progressed to the second round of the competition.

Saturday 26th November 2005 - Suffolk Senior Cup 2nd Round
Felixstowe & Walton United   1 - 0 Westerfield United  (0-0)
Team: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, James Drury, Toby Farmer, Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews, Lewis Pemberton (Morgan), James Buckle ( M Buckle), Danny Phillips, Andy Crump (Pugh), Danny Spencer
A strong performance from Westerfield as they proved equal to their senior hosts until super-sub Shaun Pugh headed home the only goal of the game with six minutes remaining. Both keepers produced a number of fine saves to keep the game all square before Pugh booked the Seasiders a quarter final tie - away to Framlingham Town on January 7th.

Lewis Pemberton returned for the visit of SIL side Westerfield to Dellwood Avenue, but it was Spencer who caught the eye with a number of fine runs and crosses from the right. Crump's shot on sixteen minutes from Spencer's cross on sixteen minutes was the first clear opening of the afternoon after Westerfield had started brightly without threatening the home goal. Reld's shot was saved by Pemberton at the expense of a corner as Jamie and Carl Sandilands posed questions of the home defence as they enjoyed a good spell of pressure. Al-Aride produced a good save to deny Crump's shot, following a good run and cross from Phillips, and when the save rebounded to Crump he looked certain to score but his header drifted wide.
Sadilands and Lynch both fired wide from distance as Simmons, Andrews and Peachey kept the visitors clear opportunities to a minimum but Cudworth was called upon to save with his feet to deny Lynch as Felixstowe defended a number of corners before the break.

Phillips saw his header smack the cross bar from Spencer's cross after the interval with Al-Aride making a blocking save from Phillips five minutes later as the home side looked to impose themselves on the game. Westerfield rose to the challenge with Solomon shooting wide before Drury made a vital tackle to deny Solomon a clear run on goal, having been put through by Sandilands. With overtime looking a real possibility Pemberton's influence increased and with six minutes remaining his perseverance earned a corner on the right. Quickly taken Peachey floated the ball dangerously into the area where Shaun Pugh, rose above the rest to head home.
The game was far from over with a nervous last five minutes for the home side with Drury clearing off the line following a late flurry of corners from Westerfield as they through everything forward.

At the final whistle Felixstowe just about deserved the win with full credit to Westerfield for a hard fought game.

Saturday 19th November 2005 - Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton United  1 -  0 Saffron Walden  (0-0)

Team
: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, James Drury, Toby Farmer, Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews, Matt Buckle (Spencer), James Buckle, Danny Phillips, Andy Crump (Glencastle), Matt Morgan (Pugh)
A 68th minute goal from Shaun Pugh, having entered the game only four minutes previously, was all that separated the sides after a competitive ninety minutes of football.
The inclusion of Farmer and Morgan were the only two changes to the starting eleven for the Seasiders with Laws and Pugh starting on the bench.
Both sides created early opportunities with Cudworth alert to save from the dangerous Ben Riches after four minutes and a minute later his twin brother Alex was on hand to deny Phillips with a sliding tackle pictured left as Felixstowe's leading goal scorer looked odds on to open the scoring.
Both defences battled hard, with Simmons outstanding for the Seasiders, and though Riches and Phillips looked dangerous for their respective sides clear opportunities were in short supply. Chadwick and Butchart both fired over from distance for the visitors and Farmer shot wide following a good run for the home side as the game continued to be evenly played out. Cudworth made an outstanding save low to his right to deny Chadwick, at the expense of a corner on 44 minutes, to ensure the sides went into the half time break all square.

Phillips broke through the visiting defence within two minutes of the restart with the experienced keeper Pledger restricting the shooting angle and gathering the shot safely. Das skimmed the Felixstowe bar with a long range effort as the second period mirrored that of the first until the breakthrough came on sixty eight minutes. Just after the hour Steve Potts made a double substitution with Pugh and Spencer replacing the hard working Crump and Morgan and their introduction put a spring in the step of the home forward line. Following a Drury corner the persistent Phillips won the ball and crossed low across the six yard line from the left with Shaun Pugh making the vital touch in a crowded goal mouth to steer the ball home.
Saffron Walden pressed for an equaliser but Peachey, Drury and Andrews held firm with substitute Richardson's long range shot just before the final whistle the nearest the visitors came to grabbing a point.

Not a classic but a sporting competitive game well Refereed by Simon Essex who allowed the game to flow and kept his cards in his pocket. Last Saturday Simon was the man in the middle for the Ipswich v Norwich Under 18 game. Portman Road one week, Dellwood Avenue the next - where next I wonder?

Tuesday 15th November 2005 - Division One Knock Out Cup - preliminary round
Felixstowe & Walton United  2 - 1  Hadleigh United (1-1)
Team
: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, James Drury, Matt Buckle, Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews,  Darius Laws (Glencastle), James Buckle, Danny Phillips, Danny Spencer, Shaun Pugh (Morgan),
Danny Spencer scored on his first team debut just before the interval with Danny Phillips adding a second two minutes after the re-start to take the Seasiders through to the next round where they will be at home to Long Melford.
Marlen North opened the scoring after twelve minutes with the goal of the game from all of thirty yards but once ahead Felixstowe always looked likely to progress.

The under 18s leading goalscorer Danny Spencer made his first team debut this evening and produced a positive performance including a well taken goal. Shaun Pugh was also in the starting line up with Farmer and Crump having a night on the bench.

Snowdon produced a low save after only twenty seconds to deny Phillips at the expense of a corner and Dale cleared off the line, as the Seasiders made a bright start, but it was the visitors who took the lead on 12 minutes.
The ball was played deep from the right to North whose first time volley from all of 30 yards beamed over the advanced Cudworth in the Felixstowe goal. Spencer and Phillips continued to look lively with Snowdon making two saves to deny Matt Buckle before Spencer brought the sides level. With 45 minutes on the watch Spencer latched onto a defensive mistake before calmly slotting the ball past Snowdon.
Two minutes after the restart Phillips met Peachey's precision pass from the right to head Felixstowe into a lead which they held until the final whistle.

In the next round the Seasiders entertain Long Melford at Dellwood Avenue on Tuesday 29th November.

Saturday 12th November 2005 - Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton United  2 - 3  Walsham le Willows  (1-0)
Team: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, James Drury, Toby Farmer (Payne), Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews, Matt Buckle (Morgan), James Buckle, Danny Phillips, Andy Crump, Darius Laws (Pugh).
Stuart Crawford
scored in the sixth minute of time added on at the end of this entertaining fixture to claim all three points for the current league leaders.
The largest crowd  at Dellwood Avenue this season were treated to a game that was a credit to the league.
James Buckle gave the Seasiders a half time lead with Ross equalising for Walsham on the hour. Crump quickly regained the advantage for the home side before Crawford scored the first of his two goals with twenty five minutes remaining. After Andrews was dismissed, following a second caution, Felixstowe looked to be comfortably seeing out time but the game is never over until the final whistle and Crawford snatched the last gasp winner.

Steve Potts named two changes with Matt Buckle and Danny Phillips, returning from injury, in the starting line up replacing Pugh and the absent Pemberton.

Ross created the first opportunity forcing a save from Cudworth after five minutes and Andrews produced a good tackle as Ross continued to impress with his speed. Wake fired wide for the visitors when well placed before the home side settled with Phillips producing a comfortable save from Bugg in the Walsham goal as the game flowed.
Though competitive both sides were producing a high level of quality passing football which was appreciated by the crowd of 151.
A good spell of pressure from the home side saw James Buckle head over the bar from a corner and when Bugg could only parry Phillips shot Farmer and Crump looked likely to seize the opportunity before good defending cleared the danger. The opening goal arrived on 39 minutes when Phillips again caused concern in the Walsham defence and a good run and shot saw the ball cleared only to the edge of the area for James Buckle to volley his shot hard and low in the net.

Bugg saved well at a post from Crumps low shot on the turn and the Walsham keeper was then alert to deny Phillips when one on one with the visiting keeper. On the hour the sides were level as Ross cut in from left and drilled his right foot shot under Cudworth.
Parity was short lived with Andy Crump breaking through the Walsham back line and steering his shot over the advanced Bugg to regain the lead for the Seasiders just three minutes later. Former Seasider Stuart Crawford brought the sides level for a second time when he met Ross' cross from the right after 66 minutes with the game still evenly poised.
With 15 minutes remaining Felixstowe's skipper Andrews was dismissed for a second caution with Crump withdrawn to a defensive roll. The loss did little to affect the balance of play and substitute Pugh went close to taking the lead for the Seasiders following a strong run down the right but Bugg was quickly off his line to clear the danger.
With the game heading for a draw and 5 minutes 41 seconds of overtime on the watch Stuart Crawford pounced one last time to turn Ross' cross home and claim all three points.

It's never over 'til the fat lady sings or the Referee blows his whistle. Initial disappointment for the home fans at the last gasp goal but they will have enjoyed a cracking game played in great spirit and I'm sure they will all be back for more.

Saturday 5th November 2005 - Ridgeons League Division One
Godmanchester Rovers 0 - 1 Felixstowe & Walton United  (0-1)
Team: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, James Drury, Toby Farmer, Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews, Lewis Pemberton, James Buckle (Morgan), Andy Crump (M Buckle), Darius Laws, Shaun Pugh (Payne).
Andy Crump's
goal after eight minutes was enough to secure all three points for the Seasiders although a lack of any addition to the score, despite dominating the possession, provided a nervous last few minutes for the travelling support.

The inclusion of Laws and Pugh in the starting line-up for Edwards and Morgan were the only changes from Tuesday night for the Seasiders. There was certainly an autumnal feel to whether as good travelling support huddled together in the covered terrace, but the promised rain just about held off.

On a bumpy surface both sides tried to play football with the Seasiders enjoying the greater possession throughput the game without testing Armitage in the home goal on too many occasions. Andy Crump had an excellent game leading the attack, collecting the ball and distributing well. Crump carved out a number of opportunities and was unfortunate to convert only the one goal that came in the eighth minute. Pemberton produced a swift break down the right and with the home defence failing to clear his cross Crump pounced to drive the ball past the diving Armitage.
Armitage produced a good save to deny Crump's headed attempt on goal before Goddy threatened in the sixteenth minute with Drury covering well to prevent Peacock obtaining a clear sight of goal following a swift break. Drury cleared Carmanti's low drive into the area at the expense of a corner but it was Felixstowe who held the upper hand and when Crump rounded the keeper he looked odds on to double his tally before placing his shot wide of an empty net.

Simmons was outstanding in defence for the visitors preventing Godmanchester posing any threat on Cudworth's goal and making telling passes going forward. Farmer and Buckle battled hard in midfield to ensure Felixstowe dominated possession with Pugh, Laws  and crump all going close to adding to the early advantage.
Pugh had the ball in the net just after the hour following a dazzling run from Pemberton but the flag was raised for off-side.
With time running down Godmanchester committed more players forward with Carmanati and Burling both going close to finding an equaliser but Cudworth was not forced into a save and the Seasiders travelled home with all three points.

Tuesday 1st November 2005 - FA Vase 1st Round Replay
Chalfont St Peter 2 - 1 Felixstowe & Walton United  (2-1)
Team: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, Jamie Drury (Carnell), Toby Farmer (Laws), Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews, Lewis Pemberton, James Buckle, Andy Crump, Dwayne Edwards, Matt Morgan
A sixth minute headed goal from Goddard set  Chalfont St. Peter on their way to the second round. Edwards equalised for the Seasiders on the half hour and despite creating numerous chances could not increase their tally. An own goal following a goalmouth scramble saw the home side take the lead just before the interval.
McKechnie saved well to deny Crump and Morgan and despite going down to ten players following the dismissal of Needham the home side held on for the win.

A big effort was made by players and staff to arrive from many different directions at Chalfont St Peter for the Vase replay. The only change to Saturday's line up saw Andy Crump start in place of the injured Phillips.

The home side took the lead after only five minutes after Simmons had cleared Deeley's deep cross for a corner. The flag kick was flicked on at the near post for Goddard to head home at the far post.
Despite the early set back Felixstowe looked likely to score as they built their attacks thoughtfully. Crump headed over the home bar from Pemberton's cross and narrowly missed another header before scuffing a shot from close range just wide.
On the half hour Carroll struck a post from a free kick with Cudworth saving well to deny Needham's follow up shot.
Edwards deservedly brought the sides level on 31 minutes after another flowing move from Felixstowe with the McKechnie disappointed not to have held the shot at his near post.

Despite having the greater share of possession the Seasiders were unsettled by crosses into the area and after Needham had spurned a good chance Nott-Mcaine headed home a free kick at the far post two minutes before the interval.
McKechnie was kept busy in the second half producing saves to deny Crump, Edwards and Morgan but the equaliser could not be found. Needham was dismissed for a second yellow card with five other players going into the Referees notebook as the flow of the game was interrupted. Down to ten Chalfont defended in depth and hung on to proceed to the second round.

We wish Chalfont St. Peter success in the next round and for the rest of the season.

Saturday 29th October 2005 - FA Vase 1st Round
Felixstowe & Walton United  3 - 3 Chalfont St Peter
(aet - score at 90 mins - 1-1)
Team: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, Jamie Drury (Pugh), Toby Farmer (M Buckle), Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews, Lewis Pemberton, James Buckle, Danny Phillips, Dwayne Edwards, Matt Morgan (Crump).
James Buckle's
injury time goal at the end of extra time forced a replay on Tuesday evening after Ghattoara had looked to have booked the visitors a place in the next round with Chalfont's third goal only two minutes earlier.
Both teams looked to play football to feet throughout and it was unfortunate that the game was marred somewhat by seven bookings and two dismissals.
Felixstowe struck the woodwork on a number of occasions and certainly created the greater openings without making the best of their opportunities. Phillips was a constant threat and McKechnie in the Chalfont goal did well to deny Felixstowe's top goal scorer after only 41 seconds of the game as he broke through the visiting defence. Cudworth produced two good saves to deny Caroll from free kicks just outside the area. Chalfont did not threaten from open play but when Carroll stepped up again to take another free kick the Felixstowe defence looked justifiably apprehensive with Carroll planting the ball past Cudworth in the home goal.
Brosnan put his shot wide when well placed two minutes later but it was Felixstowe who continued to create the greater number of openings with Buckle heading wide from Pemberton's cross and McKechnie once again bravely off his line to deny Phillips. Phillips shot wide and McKechnie saved from Drury's driven shot as the Seasiders finished the half strongly.

Edwards struck the post following a strong run after the break with Paxton clearing off the line as Pemberton followed up on the rebound. Felixstowe deservedly drew level  just after the hour mark with Drury heading Philips' cross against the bar but was then first to the loose ball and placed it wide of the diving McKechnie. Felixstowe pressed for the winner with McKechnie once again saving from Phillips and Edward's seeing his free kick crash back off the bar.

Extra time had only just started when Phillips put the Seasiders ahead this time defeating McKechnie with a well timed placement over the diving keeper. With the visitors reduced to ten men following the dismissal of substitute Sadler the Seasiders looked favourites to advance but Chalfont proved to be very resilient and Goddard headed home from a free kick to make it level just before the extra time interval. Parity of numbers returned with Pemberton dismissed for a second bookable offence as the card tally mounted.
With the flood lights on and time running down Ghattoara looked to have snatched it with a well taken shot from the right but 'never say die' James Buckle extended Felixstowe's unbeaten run to eleven games as he met Edwards' cross at the far post to head home the last gasp equaliser.

So it's a trip round the M25 on Tuesday evening for the replay.

Tuesday 25th October 2005 - Ridgeons League Cup - First Round
Felixstowe & Walton United  2 - 1  Stowmarket Town (2-0)

Team: Paul Cudworth, Daniel Glencastle, Daniel Carnell, Matt Morgan (Pemberton), Adam Pickering, James Peachey, Matt Buckle, James Buckle, Dwayne Edwards, Andy Crump (Phillips), Shaun Pugh

Goals from Dwayne Edwards and James Buckle saw the Seasiders comfortably in control at the break but Tony Cracknell's reply for Stow on the hour encouraged the visitors with Felixstowe hanging on to progress to the second round.

Squad rotation enabled a few changes from Saturday's starting line up with the Seasiders controlling the first half. Edwards finished a strong run down the right by delicately lifting the ball over the diving Hammond to score on his home debut. Crump impressed and Edwards may have chosen to pass to the Felixstowe number ten when clear but completed another good run by shooting under pressure and firing wide.
James Buckle
doubled the lead with a fierce shot on 32 minutes with Stow failing to pose any threat until Leon Hall forced Cudworth to make a save four minutes later.

Peachey saw his free kick cannon off the Stow cross-bar four minutes after the restart with Felixstowe looking likely to extend their lead at any time. On the hour Hammond did well to smother Morgan's close range attempt following a flowing move down the right. Immediately a quick break found Cracknell in space to fire a reply which provided a much needed shot in the arm for the visitors.
Stow looked transformed and came close to taking the game into extra time as Cudworth saved with his feet to deny Taylor-Holt, Ager headed wide from Bicker's free kick and Cracknell blasted over the bar when well placed.

It was a case of what might have been for Stow with the Seasiders going through on the strength of their first half performance.

Saturday 22nd October 2005 - Ridgeons League Division One
March Town United  2 - 4  Felixstowe & Walton United  (0-1)

Team: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, Jamie Drury (Carnell), Adam Pickering, Stuart Simmons,Toby Farmer (M Buckle), Lewis Pemberton, James Buckle, Danny Phillips, Andy Crump (Crump), Dwayne Edwards.
Like the coach that set off to March, the team were not firing on all four cylinders today but superior finishing enabled all three points to return with the replacement coach.
Captain James Buckle powered home from the penalty spot after a defensive hand had been first to Pemberton's cross from the right to give the Seasiders an interval lead.
Phillips doubled the advantage just before the hour before Cousins replied for the Hares as the pace of the game increased. Phillips netted his second from Crump's low cross on 73 minutes with Moyes reducing the arrears once again as the final whistle approached.
In injury time Edwards, on his debut, restored the two goal advantage for the visitors to cap an industrious first game for the club.

With Andrews serving a suspension Pickering returned to the centre of the back four with Dwayne Edwards making his debut on the left flank. Hardworking throughout the Seasiders lacked their usual fluidity which may have resulted in part from the interrupted coach journey and curtailed pre-match preparation.
Edwards and Phillips combined well from the start with Brooks producing two early saves to deny shots from Phillips. March produced neat passing build up play but were kept at distance by Simmons, Pickering, Peachey and Drury until the half hour when Broughton had the first shot on the Felixstowe goal, which was comfortably saved by Cudworth.
Using his strength Crump held the ball well and a neat turn and shot, just past the far upright, added to the pressure building on the home goal.
On 36 minutes the Seasiders went ahead from the penalty spot after Pemberton's telling cross from the right had caused concern in the March area and was cleared by a defenders hand. The Referee's Assistant was quick to respond to assist the unsighted Referee, with Felixstowe's Captain James Buckle driving home the spot kick past the left hand of Brooks.
A scrappy first half came closed with Welcher putting his shot wide following a March free kick on the edge of the area.

From the restart Brooks saved well diving to his right to deny Crump at the expense of a corner with Cudworth making an improvised save with his feet as March broke quickly through Chilton. Just before the hour Danny Phillips scored Felixstowe's second when he met Pemberton's deep cross from the left and stylishly volleyed the ball home.
March pressed forward with Cudworth saving from Chilton and Cousins heading over the bar from Pepper's corner but it was Felixstowe who looked the most dangerous in attack and the game could have been closed out on 65 minutes when Phillips' low cross from the right was met by Crump, but a last second bobble (so he says) saw Crump put the ball over the bar.
With fifteen minutes remaining the game was sparked into life by a decisive run by Turner from midfield into the Felixstowe area with his driven pass from the right turned home by Paul Cousins. Cousins then headed over the bar from a long throw as the Hares sensed a late revival.
Phillips' turned home Crump's low cross to restore the two goal advantage but March continued to press with substitute Moyes producing a good save from Cudworth before heading home March's second goal in injury time.
Edwards brought a good save from Brooks before capping his debut with a short range goal after the ball ran loose in the March area.

Steve Buckle, in charge for the day will have been pleased with the win and the behaviour of his players following the pre-match disruption and some unnecessary comments.

Saturday 15th October 2005 - Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton United  1 - 1  Swaffham Town  (1-1)

Team: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, Jamie Drury, James Buckle, Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews, Lewis Pemberton, Toby Farmer, Danny Phillips (Pickering), Andy Crump (Pugh), Matt Morgan (M. Buckle).
An evenly contested encounter between two good foot-balling sides ended with honours even at Dellwood Avenue this afternoon.
James Buckle put the Seasiders ahead after twenty one minutes with Tim Kavanagh equalising for the Pedlars five minutes before the break.
With both defences impressing scoring opportunities were at a premium in the second period and, despite some impressive build up play, Danny Phillips' powerful strike against the foot of a Swaffham post was the nearest either side came to claiming all three points.

Steve Potts named an unchanged side for the fourth consecutive game knowing that second in the table Swaffham Town would provide the sternest test yet since the defeat at Stanway eight games previously.
Butters produced the first save of the afternoon collecting the ball comfortably from Pemberton's shot after only three minutes but with both sets of defences in excellent form goal scoring opportunities were be in short supply despite good midfield build up play from both sides.
Phillips went close to opening the scoring for Felixstowe on sixteen minutes but his shot from Pemberton's cross was well saved by Butters and when the ball fell to Phillips the ever vigilant Reeve blocked his follow up shot.
The Felixstowe back line of Peachey, Simmons, Andrews and Drury had an excellent afternoon but Howling's deep cross from the right on twenty minutes found Leggett unmarked in the area with the Swaffham number 10 spurning a great opportunity putting his header wide of the target.
James Buckle opened the scoring after 21 minutes for the home side. Farmer working hard in midfield claimed the ball and fed Pemberton to provide another telling cross from the right. Buckle, who's initial shot was blocked pictured,  recovered to fire home from close range.
Swaffham build steadily through midfield and Leggett was once again profligate when another testing midfield cross, this time from Crawshaw, was headed wide without testing Cudworth in the home goal.

Kavanagh's presence increased and five minutes before the interval he fired home the equaliser. Another deep ball from the right caught the home defence on the back foot with Leggett passing the ball on to Tim Kavanagh who controlled the ball well and picked his spot before rifling the ball home past the diving Cudworth.

An entertaining second half but no addition to the score-sheet as both defences worked hard  to protect their keepers. Kavanagh and Harley both saw shots narrowly miss the Felixstowe goal and Phillips saw his powerful volley strike the foot of Butters' left hand post as the destiny of the points remained uncertain to the final whistle.
Peachey made an excellent run into the Swaffham area as full time approached and unselfishly squared the ball to Matt Buckle who failed to gain sufficient purchase on his shot to trouble Butters.

An entertaining game of football well Officiated by Mr Oakes and appreciated by the fans.

Saturday 8th October 2005 - Suffolk Senior Cup 1st round
Felixstowe & Walton United  4 - 0 East Bergholt United (3-0)
Team: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, Jamie Drury, James Buckle (Pugh), Stuart Simmons (Carnell), Jimmy Andrews, Lewis Pemberton (M Buckle),Toby Farmer, Danny Phillips, Andy Crump, Matt Morgan.
The early kick-off and good weather attracted a good crowd for this cup tie, and for the home supporters it was an enjoyable afternoon as they watched their side ease comfortably into the second round, where they will play Westerfield United.
While the SIL side enjoyed plenty of possession over the ninety minutes they rarely looked likely to undo a solid Seasiders defence while at the other end Crump and Phillips were a constant threat to the Bergholt defence throughout the match.

Early pressure from Bergholt came to nothing and the first warning to their back four came in the sixth minute when Morgan just failed to connect with Peachey’s cross at the far post as he rose unmarked and three minutes later Danny Phillips collected the ball wide on the right and crossed low for Andy Crump to connect and fire home at the near post. Danny Phillips added the Seasiders second on seventeen minutes after Peachey had intercepted a weak pass from Partridge  and found him with a deep cross that the striker had time to control before picking his spot and slotting the ball wide of Bradshaw.
East Bergholt were still trying to re-group 5 minutes later when a five man move from the Seasiders ended with Andy Crump heading down for Toby Farmer to flick past Bradshaw.
Bergholt's best chance of the game came in the twenty ninth minute when Lee Wilcox did find space to turn and lob over the advancing Cudworth, only to see his effort rebound off the foot of the post for James Drury to clear.

When Danny Phillips was again allowed space on the edge of the Bergholt area two minutes into the second half, he turned and sent an unstoppable volley past Bradshaw from 18 yards to effectively kill off any Bergholt hopes of a second half revival.

Steve Potts then shuffled his side with all three substitutes being used as the Seasiders eased up.

Wednesday 5th October 2005 - Ridgeons League Division One
Stowmarket Town 1 - 2 Felixstowe & Walton United  (0-2)
Team: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, Jamie Drury , Toby Farmer, Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews, Lewis Pemberton, James Buckle, Danny Phillips (Pickering), Andy Crump (Pugh), Matt Morgan (Carnell).
The Seasiders extended their unbeaten run to six games with a workmanlike performance at Greens Meadow this evening. Two goals in two minutes just before the half hour mark from Phillips and Crump put the visitors in the box seat after Stow had impressed but failed to threaten the Felixstowe goal.
When Browne scored with fifteen minutes remaining the Seasiders were forced to show their defensive metal to secure all three points from the East Suffolk derby.

Steve Potts named an unchanged team from Saturday, including all five substitutes, for the short trip along the A14 to our old friends at Stowmarket.
An excellent night for football with a good following from Felixstowe seeing both sides looking to play the ball to feet and build play through midfield. Stowmarket were the most effective for the first twenty five minutes with Henry and Holt lively down the flanks. However they only had a long range shot from Bloom and Henry's shot, narrowly wide of Cudworth's right hand post, to show for their possession.
Daniels  was quickly off his line to deny Phillips on 23 minutes as the Seasiders looked the more dangerous in attack and four minutes later Phillips connected with Drury's deep cross at the far post to put Felixstowe ahead.
On 29 minutes Phillips turned provider as he neatly fed the ball through to Crump who rifled the ball into the roof of the net.
Cudworth needed finger tips to deny Holt at the expense of a corner as Stow looked for a reply with Felixstowe maintaining their two goal cushion to the break.

Looking for a quick reply after the interval Stow had the ball in the net, but an assistant's flag ruled out the goal. Phillips turned Pemberton's cross against the outside of a post as Felixstowe went close to putting the result beyond doubt on the hour.
Substitute Browne posed the visiting defence a number of questions after replacing Cracknell and on 75 minutes brought hope to the home fans when his persistence saw him connect with a deep cross and steer the ball into the net past Cudworth.
Stow pressed forward with renewed enthusiasm and Cudworth had to be at his best to prevent Ager's goal bound header from finding the net with a save to his right.
An entertaining game with the Seasiders pleased to record their fifth league win of the season, which moves them into sixth place in the table.

Saturday 1st October 2005 - FA Vase 2nd Qualifying Round
Sporting Bengal United   1 - 4 Felixstowe & Walton United  (0-3)
Team: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, Jamie Drury (Carnell), Toby Farmer, Stuart Simmons, Jimmy Andrews, Lewis Pemberton, James Buckle (M Buckle), Danny Phillips, Andy Crump (Pugh), Matt Morgan.
Two goals inside the first ten minutes, from Phillips and Crump saw the Seasiders claim a lead that they never looked like relinquishing. Crump, making his first team debut following his return to the club, scored a second to give Felixstowe a comfortable lead at the break.
Hoque pulled a goal back for Sporting just after the hour as the rain drove down before Morgan headed home to restore the three goal lead and see the Seasiders through to the next round.

Andy Crump made his first start for the first team, following his recent return to the club, and he did not let the manager down scoring twice. A bright start in the sunshine saw Cudworth make a comfortable save from Khan as Sporting had the first shot on target after four minutes before Phillips put Felixstowe ahead just three minutes later with a glancing header from Pemberton's precision cross from the right.
Crump doubled the lead with a well placed shot over the advancing keeping with less than ten minutes on the watch to provide the visitors to the Mile End Stadium with the best possible start.   The tall Ogbuokiei looked dangerous for Sporting and made a number of good runs but the Felixstowe back line were quick to the challenge hurrying the finishing efforts of the home side. Ogbuokiei and Ali both had shots wide before Cudworth made a comfortable save from the busy Hoque.
Sporting were skilful on the ball but lacked penetration with the contest looking over on 33 minutes when Felixstowe scored their third. Phillips seized on a poor clearance to cross the ball from the left to Crump who made no mistake from eight yards.
Sporting's best chance of the half was created by Khan who, having defeated the offside trap, blasted wide with only the keeper to beat. Khan saw another shot fly past the upright with Cudworth beaten at the home side finished the half strongly.

Rain replaced the sunshine of the first half as Sporting needed a quick reply but it was Felixstowe who went closest to increasing their lead with Crump heading over from Pemberton's cross and Drury and Phillips also going narrowly wide. Hoque pulled a goal back on 63 minutes after he pressured Cudworth when dealing with a poor back pass and guided the ball home.
Any hopes of a fight back were short lived as Morgan provided a trademark goal five minutes later heading home from Drury's deep free kick.

Cudworth saved well to deny Prince Pipim as the home sides enthusiastic supporters urged them on, but the Seasiders saw out time to progress comfortably though to the next round.

Saturday 24th September 2005 - Ridgeons League Division One
Gorleston 2 - 2 Felixstowe & Walton United  (1-1)
Team: Paul Cudworth, Ray O'connor (Carnell), Jamie Drury (Pugh), Toby Farmer, James Peachey, Jimmy Andrews, Lewis Pemberton, James Buckle, Stuart Simmons, Danny Phillips, Matt Morgan.
The Seasiders came from behind twice to deny Gorleston their first league win of the season, with the greens now recording six draws from eight games.
The first half, interrupted by many minor offences, came to life five minutes from the interval with the dangerous Stone defeating the off-side trap to slide the ball under the advancing Cudworth. The lead was short-lived for the home side as Morgan reacted first to stab home the loose ball after Farmer's powerful volley had crashed back off the angle of post and bar.
Ferguson headed the Greens back in front just after the hour as the home side enjoyed their best spell of the game before Farmer headed home the equaliser fifteen minutes from time. Phillips went closest to scoring a winner, but in the end the draw was a fair result.

Danny Spurling and Adam Pickering were missing from the starting line up with Ray O'connor in defence and Danny Phillips returning to the attack. Although never in front the Seasiders will view this result as two points dropped as three good chances went begging in the closing minutes. On a sunny afternoon both sides started brightly with Phillips producing a comfortable save from Marsden in the home goal and Stone putting his shot into the side netting in the early exchanges.
With both defences playing well opportunities were few and far between with Marsden twice saving well to deny Phillips before Stone put the home side ahead with their first shot on target after 43 minutes. A ball through the middle of the defence saw the Felixstowe back line looking to the assistant for a flag, but the tall Gorleston forward had timed his run perfectly and unchallenged steered the ball past the advancing Cuddworth.
Within two minutes it was all square after a thunderous volley from Farmer struck the angle of bar and post. With Marsden flapping at the loose ball Morgan pounced to prod the ball home from close range.

Felixstowe may have had the greater share of possession in the first half but after the interval Gorleston looked the more dangerous with Stone and Squire both going close before Ferguson regained the lead for the Greens after 63 minutes, heading home from a free kick.
The Seasiders took time to get back into the game but were on top for the last fifteen minutes with Marsden producing and excellent double save to deny Pemberton and then Morgan before Farmer brought the sides level heading home from Pemberton's cross.
Pugh and Buckle both went close and Phillips having 'beaten' the off-side trap and rounded the keeper put his shot into the side netting as Felixstowe went for the winner.

Saturday 17th September 2005 - Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton United  3 - 0 Fakenham Town  (1-0)
Team: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, Jamie Drury, Toby Farmer (M Buckle), Adam Pickering, Jimmy Andrews, Lewis Pemberton, James Buckle, Stuart Simmons (Pugh), Danny Spurling (Gordon), Matt Morgan.
A minutes silence was respectfully observed in memory of Keith Nunn, who was to have been an Assistant Referee today, before the start of the game.

Fakenham were forced to replace keeper Lewis after 20 minutes after he sustained a dislocated finger making a diving save. Coe volunteered to pull on the gloves with Darby replacing him from the bench. Spurling opened the scoring for the Seasiders on 39th minutes from eight yards after the Ghosts had defended in depth for most of the first half.
Woodcock posed a threat for the visitors forcing a good save from Cudworth in a rare Fakenham attack before Morgan made the game safe for the Seasiders with a headed goal from Pemberton's cross. With ten minutes remaining Peachey scored his first goal for the club with a deflected shot following Gordon's cross from the left wing.

James Buckle returned to the side for today's game with Simmons leading the line for the absent Phillips. Morgan also made a start and was quickly into action with two shots narrowly wide in the first five minutes as the home side started brightly and continued to hold the upper hand throughout the game. King worked hard in midfield for the ghosts with Woodcock a willing runner in attack but apart from one telling save by Cudworth in he second half the Felixstowe defence was rarely tested.
The game saw a number of breaks for injury with the most serious after twenty minutes when Fakenham's Steve Lewis sustained a dislocated finger when bravely stretching for the ball. Coe pulled on the goalkeepers shirt and Darby came off the bench to replace him in attack. Farmer and Buckle both tested the stand-in keeper before a loose ball parried off Coe under pressure from Simmons with Danny Spurling sweeping home the rebound.
Neat interplay between Pask and Woodcock saw the latter behind the Felixstowe defence five minutes after the break but the Ghosts best opportunity of an equaliser went wide. Cudworth produced a god save to deny Woodcock before Matt Morgan eased the nervousness in the home crowd with a well taken headed goal from Pemberton's right wing cross.
A young Fakenham side continued to battle in search of a reply but Felixstowe continued to look likely to add to their score and with ten minutes remaining Gordon whipped in a cross from the left which the advanced James Peachey volleyed home off a defender.
After successfully gaining nine points from three home games, the Seasiders are on their travels next Saturday with a trip to Gorleston.

Saturday 10th September 2005 - Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton United  1 - 0 Haverhill Rovers  (1-0)

Team
: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, Jamie Drury, Stuart Simmons (Morgan), Adam Pickering, Jimmy Andrews, Lewis Pemberton, Toby Farmer, Danny Phillips, Danny Spurling (O'Connor), Matt Buckle.
A fourth minute goal from Felixstowe's Danny Phillips was all that separated the sides after  a hard fought ninety minutes in humid conditions. Cudworth in the home goal produced two good saves to deny Kent and Hunt as the visitors built a number of dangerous attacking moves  as they obtained an increasing amount of possession after the Sesiders bright start to the game.
Phillips looked to have a scored a second shortly after the interval but it was ruled out for pushing.
There was a delay when the unfortunate Sharp suffered a leg injury and when the game restarted football continued to be at a premium. The Seasiders Captain Andrews was dismissed after a foul, as the last defender, and the home side defended in depth to retain their lead. The dangerous Latham broke through the Felixstowe back line in injury time but once again Pemberton produced an excellent tackle to deny Rovers an equaliser and the Seasiders held out for a win.

Steve Potts named an unchanged team following Tuesday's win. Simmons headed over from Pemberton's cross as the Seasiders made a positive start to the game with the visitors very much on the back foot in the early stages. The attacks continued with Phillips and Spurling showing plenty of pace and on four minutes  the opening goal arrived with Danny Phillips rising to head home from Jamie Drury's excellent deep cross from the left. Spurling shot wide following a good run as Felixstowe continued to impress before, gradually, Rovers prompted by Challis and Hunt gained momentum, and a flowing move involving Sharp and Hunt saw play swiftly switched from left to right with Kent shooting wide to end Rover's best attack so far. Kent forced Cudworth to produce an excellent save at the expense of a corner with the Felixstowe keeper maintaining the narrow lead with a fine Save to deny Hunt as half time approached.

Felixstowe were relieved to hear the interval whistle and after the customary half time team-talk looked to have regained their composure and an extension to their lead shortly after the interval. Spurling and Phillips combined well with Phillips illegally finding space on the left to swivel and volley the ball into the Rovers net, but the eagle eyed assistant Mr Smith had spotted a push and the goal was disallowed.
A lengthy delay saw the unfortunate Sharp stretchered off the field and ultimately taken to hospital by Ambulance with a serious leg injury. Haverhill continued to press with the Felixstowe defence working overtime to restrict Rovers to shots from distance. With the pressure increasing Felixstowe's Captain Andrew's overstepped the mark and was shown a red card for a foul on the edge of the area. O'Connor replaced Spurling to bolster the defence with Peachey, Pickering and Drury all having defend well to keep the Haverhill forwards at bay.
Cudworth beat away consecutive corners in injury time with Pemberton producing an  excellent tackle to block Latham's shot and the home team held on for a rare Saturday afternoon win at Dellwood Avenue.
We wish Lee Sharp, taken by ambulance to Ipswich hospital, with a suspected broken ankle, a speedy recovery.

Tuesday 6th September 2005 - Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton United   5 - 2  Long Melford   (2-1)
Team: Paul Cudworth, James Peachey, Jamie Drury ( O,Connor), Stuart Simmons, Adam Pickering, Jimmy Andrews, Lewis Pemberton, Toby Farmer, Danny Phillips, Danny Spurling (Payne), Matt Buckle (Morgan).
The Seasiders bounced back from Saturday's disappointment at Stanway with an impressive display against fancied Long Melford. Simmons headed home from Phillips' cross for the best possible start after, only three minutes, with Spurling adding the second on 14 minutes. Winchip produced three excellent saves to keep the visitors alive and when Boardley netted from the spot it was 'game on' with Felixstowe pleased to hear the half time whistle.
Phillips reinstated the two goal lead within a minute of the restart with Donelly pegging back the arrears four minutes later. With both sides looking more comfortable going forward more goals looked sure to come. Cudworth made an inspired save from Boardley to keep the home side ahead before Spurling extended the lead with a pin point header from Pemberton's cross. Taylor struck the Felixstowe woodwork before Morgan confirmed the points for the home side in injury time with a well taken header from Pemberton's cross.

The inclusion of Drury certainly provided extra bite to the defence which showed determination from the first whistle. Man of the match Phillip's posted his intentions early with Winchip having to block with his feet in the first minute and it was Phillips again two minutes later who opened up the visiting defence with a run to the bye line and a pin-point cross for Simmons to head home his first goal for the Seasiders.
Liam Hunn found space on the left before the advancing Cudworth forced the former Seasider to take his shot early and hit the side netting. Spurling's willingness to chase a long ball was rewarded on 14 minutes when Winchip miss-kicked a hurried clearance and the number ten pounced to steer home Felixstowe's second.
Winchip redeemed himself with three excellent saves to keep the visitors in the game from Drury, Spurling and Phillips, with Spurling also shooting wide, as they threatened to overwhelm the Long Melford defence.
The game took a seemingly decisive turn fifteen minutes from the interval when Boardley converted from the penalty spot and the visitors found renewed confidence. Enjoying their best spell of the game Long Melford would have been level at the break if not for Cudworth's fine save to deny Boardley as the Seasiders hung on for half time.

Pemberton's runs and crosses from the flanks were a dominant feature of the game and a minute after the restart his cross from the right was flicked on by Spurling for Phillips to bring the ball under control and pick his spot to regain the two goal lead.
More goals looked certain and Donnelly reduced the arrears once more seizing onto a loose ball on the edge of the Felixstowe area to rifle his shot home.
The good sized crowd were certainly receiving good value for money with both sides committed to attack and it was 4-2 before the hour with Spurling rising majestically above taller players to head home following another slide rule cross from Pemberton.
Phillips struck a post following a neat turn in the area as Felixstowe looked to increase their lead with Morgan heading home the fifth in injury time following Pemberton's run and cross from the left.
An excellent all round performance with everyone looking forward to the visito fHaverhill Rovers on saturday.

Saturday 3rd September 2005 - Ridgeons League Division One
Stanway Rovers  4 - 1  Felixstowe & Walton United    (2-1)

Team
: Paul Cudworth, Matt Morgan, Daniel Carnell (Shaun Pugh), Stuart Simmons, Adam Pickering, James Peachey, Lewis Pemberton, James Buckle, Danny Phillips, Danny Spurling (Darius Laws), Toby Farmer.
Rovers continued their winning start to the season with a comfortable win over the Seasiders. Felixstowe enjoyed plenty of possession but, apart from Phillips' first half equaliser, produced little in the final third to trouble the home defence.
Sam Newson
impressed throughout for Stanway with the second of his two goals the pick of the bunch. Witney added to Newson's opener to give the home side a 2-1 half time lead and after Newson had added his second Turner pounced, while the Felixstowe defence watched, to head home the fourth.

On a warm and sunny afternoon the home side attacked from the kick off with Sam Newson posting his intent early striking a post inside 30 seconds. The Seasiders looked to have weathered the early storm with Spurling forcing  a save from Church in the home goal before Sam Newson fired a low shot past Cudworth's dive to his left for the opening goal on nine minutes.
Danny Phillips worked tirelessly in attack for Felixstowe and was rewarded on 20 minutes when he reached the ball on the edge of the Stanway area before Church to guide the ball into the unguarded net.
Church saved from Spurling at the expense of a corner as the visitors created space down the right through Pemberton. The ever dangerous Scott Witney ghosted in behind the Felixstowe back four on 35 minutes to provided the vital touch and the lead at the interval.

Felixstowe enjoyed possession and passed the ball around well in the middle of the field but failed to penetrate the Stanway back line after the break while their own defence looked vulnerable to the home attacks.
Just before the hour mark Sam Newson produced the goal of the game, cutting in from the right he unleashed a swerving shot that despite Cudworth's best efforts entered the goal just inside the far post. Felixstowe's resolve diminished with Stanway looking likely to increase their lead which they did with five minutes remaining as Witney crossed from the right and Ray Turner, unchallenged, picked his spot to head home from six yards.

A deserved win for the home side and we wish them well in the FA Cup this coming Tuesday.

Saturday 27th August 2005 - F.A. Cup Preliminary Round
Felixstowe & Walton United  1 -  2 Dunstable Town  (0-1)
Team: Paul Cudworth, Matt Morgan, Daniel Carnell, James Buckle, Adam Pickering, James Peachey, Lewis Pemberton, Daniel Eaton (Toby Farmer), Danny Phillips, Danny Spurling (Craig Payne), Shun Pugh (Stuart Simmons)
A goal at the end of each half saw Southern League side Dunstable Town through to an away tie at Staines in the next round. The Seasiders were certainly not overawed playing against a side two steps higher in the pyramid and looked to be heading for a replay before Dunstable's skipper Connington headed home the winner from close range in second half injury time.
Arthur had opened the scoring a minute before the interval with Spurling equalising seven minutes after the restart. Both defences performed strongly, with clear scoring opportunities at a premium before Connington claimed the late winner.

Felixstowe's man of the match James Peachey, in for the absent Andrews, was the only change to the starting line up from Tuesday's league win.
The Seasiders forced an early corner when Pugh's shot was saved low at the post by Taylor in the visitors goal. Arthur headed over from Barr's cross before volleying wide from a long Taylor clearance and Cudworth saved well to deny first Dixon then L'Honre, from a well struck free kick, as both sides looked for an early advantage.
Five minutes from the break Cudworth saved from O'neil but as the ball ran loose the Felixstowe keeper was adjudged to have brought down the Dunstable number eight with Mr Parker pointing to the spot. Walker took the penalty but Cudworth saved well to his right and looked to have kept the scoreline blank to the interval before, with a minute remaining, Arthur drilled the ball home from the edge of the box.

It was all square seven minutes after the restart when Spurling completed a solo run with with a well taken shot past Taylor. The equaliser unsettled the visitors with the speed of Phillips and Spurling testing the Dunstable defence, well marshalled by Campbell. The influence of Sarll increased in midfield for the blues with a dipping shot from distance just clearing Cudworth's cross bar as both teams went in search of the winner. Taylor saved from Spurling's free kick and when Pemberton broke free on the left Taylor again had to be at his best to keep the home side at bay.
Both sides were obviously not relishing the prospect of a replay, committing players forward for the winner, and when the ball came back off the bar in time added on Connington was well placed to head home from close range.

Having performed creditably against senior opposition the Seasiders will take a lot of positives from the game, and we wish Dunstable Town success in the next round and for the rest of the season.

Tuesday 23rd August 2005 - Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton United  6 -  1 Debenham LC  (2-0)

Team
: Paul Cudworth, Matt Morgan, Daniel Carnell, James Buckle, Adam Pickering, Jimmy Andrews, Lewis Pemberton, Daniel Eaton, Danny Phillips, Danny Spurling (Craig Payne), Shun Pugh (Toby Farmer)
A James Buckle hat-trick saw the Seasiders record their first league points of the season as Debenham were hit for six. The visitors started brightly with Cudworth saving to deny Gedny and Danny Phillip's opener on 26 minutes was against the run of play at the time. Phillips then turned provider for Danny Spurling to score the second three minutes later.
Lee Briggs reduced the arrears a minute into the second half but after James Buckle turned home Eaton's corner on 50 minutes the destination of the points was never in doubt.
On the hour James Buckle scored the goal of the game volleying home Pemberton's cross from distance with the cheers resonating from the new stand.
Matt Morgan added a fifth with an arrowed shot following Eaton's corner before James Buckle completed his hat-trick meeting Farmer's cross field pass to rifle the ball past the diving Holand.

Saturday 20th August 2005 - F.A. Cup Extra Preliminary Round
Haringey Borough  0 - 3 Felixstowe & Walton United (0-0)

Team: Paul Cudworth, Matt Morgan, Daniel Carnell, James Buckle (Michael Tomiak), Adam Pickering, Jimmy Andrews, Lewis Pemberton, Daniel Eaton, Danny Spurling (Craig Payne), Darius Laws (Ross Layton), Shun Pugh
The Seasiders produced a polished second half performance to progress to the next round of the FA Cup - where they will entertain Dunstable Town, from the Southern League (Division one West).
There was little to choose between the sides at the break but the Seasiders stepped up a gear in the second half with James Buckle opening the scoring on the hour, Matt Morgan doubling the lead ten minutes later and James Buckle netting his second from the penalty spot after Danny Spurling had been tripped with ten minutes remaining.

All the players looked very smart and professional in their black shirts and clubs ties for the coach trip to Haringey with four changes to the starting line up from Tuesday.
Pickering, Morgan, Pugh and Carnell were given the nod as Manager Steve Potts looked to tighten a defence that had conceded seven goals in two league games.
The lively Haringey forwards, Kalu and Banuelos, were well marshalled by Andrews and Pickering restricting them to shots from distance that did not trouble Cudworth in the Felixstowe goal.
Pemberton and Pugh increasingly created space down the flanks with Spurling causing concerns in the home defence. On the half hour Wight in the home goal produced an excellent double save at the expense of a corner as Laws broke through the middle for either sides first serious threat on goal. Hudson broke through the Seasiders back line with the interval approaching but Laws cleared the danger and at the break it was all square.

Cudworth saved from Hudson after the break with Morgan clearing the resultant corner, but from that point Felixstowe took hold of the game with Buckle and Eaton urging the midfield forward. On the hour the deadlock was broken when Spurling completed a good run with a pass into the area which James Buckles fired home. Spurling continued to look dangerous, shooting over and then seeing a shot blocked for a corner in the 69th minute. Eaton took the flag kick and when the ball ran loose Matt Morgan capped an excellent all round performance with Felixstowe's second goal.
Haringey pressed forward in search of a reply winning a number of corners but lacking a real threat in front of goal.
With ten minutes remaining Spurling once again broke through the home defence and with the keeper to beat was tripped from behind, James Buckle coolly slotting home from the spot.
Payne, Layton and Tomiac were introduced, all slotting in well to the team, for the final few minutes of a very successful trip to North London.

Many thanks to John, George, Clifford and all at Haringey for their hospitality and sportsmanship - we wish you every success for the rest of the season.

Tuesday 16th August 2005 - Ridgeons League Division One
Cornard United  4 - 2 Felixstowe & Walton United (3-0)
Team
: Paul Cudworth, Ray O'Connor, Jamie Drury (Daniel Carnell), Nicky Barker (Vinnie Gordon),. Jimmy Andrews, James Buckle, Lewis Pemberton, Daniel Eaton (Craig Payne), Daniel Phillips, Danny Spurling, Darius Laws
A comfortable victory for the home side at Blackhouse Lane this evening with Craig Cuts scoring a hat-trick for Cornard. The Seasiders had their moments but two goals from Danny Phillips proved to be only a consolation as Cornard recorded six points from their opening two games.
Felixstowe passed the ball around well in the early stages without any real penetration and with their first attacking move of the game Cornard opened the scoring on ten minutes. Craig Curtis broke quickly down the right and having outpaced O'Connor rifled his right foot shot past the diving Cudworth.
Cudworth produced an acrobatic save to deny Davis following a swift break from Wiffen but the Felixstowe keeper was beaten at his near post on twenty minutes after the visitors lost the ball in midfield and Tommy Wiffen ran on to power the ball home and double the lead.
Danny Spurling produced Felixstowe's first serious threat on goal after 32 minutes following a flowing move involving Phillips and Pemberton but his attempt on goal flew wide of the post. Buckle saw his shot saved by Moyes following a spell of pressure, only for Cornard to turn defence swiftly into attack and Craig Cuts strode through the Felixstowe defence to score his second.

Gordon replaced Barker at the the break with Felixstowe going for three at the back and five in midfield as they looked for a swift reply. The Seasiders were certainly more competitive after the interval but failed to trouble the home defence until Pemberton produced an excellent run down the left and his precision cross was turned home by Danny Phillips on 65 minutes.
Two minutes later Buckle struck a post with Moyes beaten. A second goal at this stage may have turned the game but the home side maintained their composure and Craig Cutts ended any thoughts of a come-back when he completed his hat-trick fifteen minutes from time. Once again outpacing the Felixstowe defence Cuts drew Cudworth before stroking the ball into the net from distance.
The introduction of Payne enlivened the Felixstowe attack as he headed over the bar from Law's well executed cross and Moyes saved well from Payne at the expense of a corner.
Danny Phillips converted well to score his second and provide Felixstowe with a consolation but the honours and the points deservedly went to Cornard.

Saturday 13th August 2005 - Ridgeons League Division One
Felixstowe & Walton United  2 - 3 Fulbourn Institute (1-2)

Team: Paul Cudworth, Daniel Carnell (Daniel Eaton), James Paechey, Nicky Barker. Jimmy Andrews, James Buckle, Lewis Pemberton, Darius Laws, Daniel Phillips, Danny Spurling (Troy Duporte), Matt Buckle (Brendan Tuck).
The new season kicked off with the visit of Fulbourn Institute to Dellwood Avenue for their first ever game in the Ridgeons League. The new boys got off to the best possible start with two first half goals from Beck and Pettit and it could have been more but for two top class saves from Felixstowe's man of the match Paul Cudworth. Laws pulled a goal back for the Seasiders on the stroke of half time and when Phillips equalised six minutes after the break the home side gained the momentum only for Abbs to grab a later winner that Fulbourn's first half performance just about deserved.
Manager Steve Potts had to make an early change to the line up when Daniel Glencastle sustained a serious injury in the warm and had to be taken to hospital - best wishes for a speedy recovery are sent from all the club.
Phillip's shot earned the first corner of the game after three minutes for the Seasiders and despite the game flowing from end to end and both sides creating openings, it was the visitors that were the more composed on the ball and showing the greater control. Cudworth produced an excellent save to deny Pettit at the expense of  corner on 18 minutes after Abbs had been released through midfield and made a telling pass to open up the home defence.
It was Abbs again who defeated the home defence all too easily with a run through mid-field but after a good run he shot wide. Fulbourn scored their first Ridgeons goal through Tony Beck on 26 minutes following good build up play down the left from Mhishi  and Abbs.
Cudworth made an instinctive save from close range to prevent Pettit extending the visitors lead as the Seasiders struggles to hold the Fulbourn mid-field.
On 45 minutes Andy Pettit produced an excellent volley as he met Abbs' cross from the left giving the outstanding Cudworth little chance. With seconds to go to the interval Phillips made ground down the right straight from the restart and his cross was well met by Darius Laws to provide the home side with a welcome lift as the half time whistle blew.

The Seasiders half time pep talk saw them start the second half in resolute fashion with balls won in midfield constructively, rather that hopefully, played forward.
The sides were level on 51 minutes when Matt Buckle produced a good run down the right and his cross was steered home by Danny Phillips. Fulbourn, still dangerous on the break, were now on the back foot with Meddows clearing off the line as the Seasiders looked to press home their advantage. With Cudworth saving from Abbs the game looked to be heading for a draw until Joey Abbs seized onto a loose ball a minute from time to secure a win for the visitors.
We wish Fulbourn a successful and enjoyable first term in the Ridgeons league.
