Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup FINAL
Southwold Town Res. 1 - 5 Felixstowe & Walton
United Res.
(1-1) -
at Leiston F.C.
Felixstowe:- Danny Crump,
Danny Glencastle, Ben Wyard, Liam Scopes, Andy Crump, Gary Henderson, Matt Stanbridge, Petr Janacek, Jon McDermott,
Danny Spurling, Sahun Pugh. Subs: Darius Laws, Ashley Phillips, Will Burton,
Jamie Perry.
Felixstowe &
Walton United are the first names on the Trophy as winners of the
inaugural Final at Leiston this afternoon. Southwold, who had beaten Lowestoft
and Stowmarket on their way to the final, opened the scoring after eleven
minutes through Ben Hunting with
Andy Crump scoring from the penalty spot ten
minutes before the interval.
The second half saw Felixstowe take control with Liam
Scopes putting the Seasiders ahead on the hour.
Shaun Pugh headed home the third before Andy
Crump scored his second of the game and Petr
Janacek completed the scoring with four minutes remaining.
Danny Crump made a number of fine saves to deny Southwold who kept pressing to
the final whistle.
After winning the inaugural Ridgeons Reserve League title last season the
Reserves completed another
successful campaign as winners of the Suffolk County Reserve Cup in it's first
year.
Opponents Southwold Town Reserves had produced an impressive run of results to
reach the final; 4-1 against Melton St. Audrys, 1-0 over Lowestoft, 3-0
against Brantham and 4-1 against Stowmarket in the semi-final.
The Seasiders had defeated Stowupland Falcons 2-0, Hadleigh United 4-3,
Mildenhall 4-1 and Bury Town 6-3 in the semi-final.
Over 50
Felixstowe supporters made the trip, despite the first team playing their
final game of the season at the Abbey Stadium Cambridge, and they were well
rewarded despite the Seasiders going behind to an early goal.
Ben Hunting opened the scoring with a well taken
goal for Southwold after eleven minutes as they started the match on the front
foot. The busy Southwold team closed the Felixstowe forwards down quickly in
the first half giving them little room to develop their passing game. Four
Southwold players eventually proved to be a little too close and went into Mr
Goodman's notebook.
Barbrook, Palmer and Manning produced good performances for Southwold with
Felixstowe's back line
kept busy in the first half and Danny Crump producing a number of telling
saves.
Ten minutes from the interval Andy Crump
(pictured above with brother Danny) fired home from the penalty spot with
the diving Adam Cone unable to keep the ball out of the net despite a valiant
effort - pictured right.
Stanbridge
shot wide four minutes after the restart as Felixstowe increased the tempo and
their share of possession. The pace of Pugh, Spurling, Janacek and Stanbridge
began to tell and just before the hour Liam Scopes
headed home to put the Seasiders ahead.
Shaun Pugh produced an excellent header at the
far post following a free kick on 68 minutes and Pugh and Perry both went
close before Andy Crump scored his second and
Felixstowe's fourth with six minutes remaining.
Two minutes later Petr Janacek slotted home the
fifth and final goal of the game as the Seasiders ran out winners against a
spirited and hard working Southwold side.
Captain Ben Wyard collected the Trophy to cap an excellent season for the
players and Management Team of Terry Burch and Dave Wyard.
Well Done Lads - and thanks to everyone who
has supported the team throughout the year.

Felixstowe & Walton
United Res. 4 - 1 Stowmarket Town Res.
(1-1)
Felixstowe:- Danny Crump,
Danny Glencastle, Gary Henderson, Matt Morgan, Ben Wyard, Andy Crump, Matt Stanbridge (Will
Burton 73), Petr Janacek, Jon McDermott, James Heathcote (Darius Laws 65), Shaun Pugh
(Ashley Phillips 60).
Two second half goals from Andy Crump saw the
Reserves complete their league season in style after resolute defending and a
number of fine saves from Stow keeper Gary Hammond had seen the sides level
for over an hour.
Early saves by Hammond repelled the initial attacks from Felixstowe, denying
Heathcote and Morgan, before Petr Janacek broke
the deadlock with a well struck goal from 12 yards ten minute before the
interval. A minute later it was all square when Ross
Harvey found space and time to place his shot wide of the diving Danny
Crump.
The visitors enjoyed their best spell immediately after the break and Crump
made a good save low to his right to keep out Richardson's crisp shot.
Felixstowe gathered momentum and despite a double save from Hammond, blocking
Jancek's shot and Ashley Phillip's follow up, he was powerless to deny the
tall Andy Crump from powerfully heading the
Seasiders into the lead. Petr Janacek followed up with a third ten minutes
from time and Andy Crump added his second five
minutes later.
Monday 16th April 2007 -

Whitton United
Res. 1 - 3 Felixstowe & Walton United Res. (0-2)
Felixstowe:- Danny Crump,
Darcy De'Ath (Joe Willett 80), Ashley Phillips, Matt Morgan, Ben Wyard, Danny
Glencastle, Matt Stanbridge (Jamie Perry 74), Andy Crump, Jon McDermott, James Heathcote, Shaun Pugh.
An entertaining and sporting game with
Jamie Perry confirming the win for Felixstowe in
the 90th minute after Whitton stepped up their game in the second half and
came close to forcing a draw.
Danny Crump's long kick forward, after claiming the ball from a Whitton corner
in the 26 minute, found James Heathcote in space
to run on and place the ball wide of the diving Singh in the Whitton goal.
Guyon and Clark produced plenty of movement up front for Whitton but failed to
test the Felixstowe keeper and ten minutes before the break the Seasiders went
further ahead thanks to an excellent free kick from Andy
Crump which travelled round the Whitton wall and into the top corner of
the net.
With the substitutes on, Whitton created more scoring opportunities in the
second half and Jamie Curran headed home to
reduce the deficit and set up an exciting last ten minutes.
Whitton committed players forward in search of the equaliser and on the break
Jamie Perry took his chance well under pressure
to confirm the points for Felixstowe.

Bury Town Res. 3 -
2
Felixstowe & Walton United Res. (0-1)
Felixstowe:- Danny Crump, Ben Wyard,
Ashley Phillips, Lee Parry, Owen Symonds (Jamie Perry 25), Matt Morgan,
Matt Stanbridge (Joe Willett 85), Andy Crump, Jon McDermott, James Heathcote,
Shaun Pugh.
This week is was the Seasiders who surrendered a
two goal lead as Bury fought back with three goals in the final seventeen
minutes. An entertaining game between two foot-balling sides with saves, goal
line clearances, ball off the woodwork and a penalty save for good measure.
The teams shared nine goals when last they met and this game never looked
being goalless from the first whistle. Bury enjoyed early pressure with a
succession of corners defended with a certain degree of difficulty before the
Felixstowe defence settled.
A flowing move with Pugh and McDermott combining nearly created the opening
goal for Heathcote but he just failed to get the final touch as McDermott's
cross flew across the face of the Bury goal. Crump headed narrowly over from
Pugh's corner and Wyard's header from Crump's corner struckthe bury cross-bar
as the Seasiders enjoyed a good spell in front of the Bury goal. The Seasiders
were forced to re-organise in defence after 25 minutes as Symonds limped from
the game and Crump made a fine save with a strong right hand to block Shaw's
goal bound effort.
The game continued to flow from end to end at pace with Bammant firing over
the Felixstowe bar and Bury keeper Greygoose making an excellent save low to
his right to deny Morgan as half time approached. The resultant corner saw
Ben Wyard force the ball home to give the
Seasiders a narrow lead at the interval.
Bury came out strongly for the second half with Bammant going close before
Crump went down bravely at the feet of Bammant following a good run and cross
from Bailey. Ten minutes into the half Felixstowe doubled their lead following
a break down the left and Matt Morgan placed a
dipping volley over the head of Greygoose into the far corner of the net.
Bury continued to press for a reply and on 73 minutes were rewarded when
Shaun Thorrold's low angled shot from the left
squeezed under the diving Crump into the net. Four minutes later it was all
square as Shaun Bammant scrambled the ball home
in a crowded area to set up an exciting last 15 minutes.
Morgan headed against the bar from Crump's free kick before Bammant crossed
for Shaun Brown-Warr to fire home the winner with
three minutes remaining.
There was still time for Greygoose to make a point blank save to deny Morgan
and for Felixtsowe's Keeper Crump to concede and save a penalty taken by
Bammant.
An entertaining and sporting game well Refereed by Bill Newall.

Felixstowe & Walton
United Res. 3 - 2 Needham Market Res. (0-1)
Felixstowe:- Danny
Crump, Danny Glencastle, Ben Wyard, Matt Morgan,
Owen Symonds, Andy Crump, Matt Stanbridge, James Heathcote (Will Burton), Jon
McDermott, Jamie Perry (Ashley Phillips), Shaun Pugh.
Three goals in a four minute spell just ten minutes
from time turned the game around for the Seasiders after Needham had held a
comfortable two goal lead.
Ben Deacon's well taken goal after fifteen
minutes separated the sides at the interval with the home side squandering a
number of scoring opportunities. They looked to have paid the price for their
profligacy when early pressure at the start of second half saw an own goal
double the visitors lead. Deacon, Smith and Harvey in attack for Needham
looked likely to increase the lead with only Wyard's strike against the post
threatening the visitors goal.
The tireless Shaun Pugh was rewarded for his
efforts with a goal off the far post from an acute angle ten minutes from time
for what looked like a consolation. Encouraged, Felixstowe pressed forward and
three minutes later Shaun Pugh scored his second
with a well taken strike. From the restart a defensive mix up enabled
Jon McDermott to pounce on the mistake and steer
the ball home to complete a remarkable come back.
Wednesday 21st March 2007 - Reserve League
Division North
Walsham le Willows
Res. 1 - 1 Felixstowe & Walton United Res. (0-1)
Felixstowe:- Danny
Crump, Danny Glencastle, Darcy Death (Will Burton), Matt Morgan, Jimmy Andrews,
Owen Symonds, Matt Stanbridge, James Buckle, Jamie Perry (Andy Crump), Jon
McDermott, Lewis Pemberton (Ashley Phillips).
Unused sub: Ben Wyard, Shaun Pugh.
An injury time header for the home side from Newall
ensured honours were even at Walsham this evening. Oliver tested Crump as the
home side started brightly and
Perry saw his shot clip a Walsham post on
ten minutes but neither keeper was severely tested until
Morgan steered home Buckle's cross from six yards, beating defender and
keeper to the ball five minutes before the interval.
Possession remained even again after the break with Felixstowe creating the
better openings without a telling finish. With time running down Walsham
stepped up a gear and finally found a a cutting edge as
Newall forced home the equaliser on ninety
minutes. A nervous finish for the visitors with Newall's strong appeals for a
penalty turned down in the dying seconds.
A sporting game from two evenly matched teams.
Saturday 10th March 2007
Suffolk Senior
Reserve Cup - Semi Final - played at Whitton United
Bury Town Res. 3 - 6
Felixstowe & Walton United Res. aet (3-3 after ninety minutes)
Felixstowe:- Danny
Crump, Danny Glencastle (Matt Milbourne), Ben Wyard (Ashley Phillips), Liam
Scopes, Andy Crump, Gary Henderson, Matt Stanbridge, Petr Janacek, Jamie Perry
(Darius Laws), Danny Spurling, Shaun Pugh.
Unused sub: Will Burton.
The Seasiders
progressed to the final of the competition, where they will play Southwold,
following a see-saw game which saw Bury Town recover from three goals down to
take the tie into extra time.
A sunny afternoon welcomed the teams onto a pitch with a good surface enabling
both sides to play their passing game. Down the slope in the first half the
Seasiders enjoyed plenty of possession but failed to test Greenwood in the
Bury goal in the early stages as
chances went wide.
Bury's movement and pace in attack always threatened and though creating fewer
opportunities they looked more likely to score with Danny Crump producing a
good save to deny Thorrola and then an impressive double save to keep out
Lormier and then Piggott.
Spurling's long range effort cleared the Bury bar before the break
through came five minutes
before the
interval as Liam Scopes placed the ball wide of
Greenwood in a crowded Bury goal mouth.
Petr Janacek doubled the advantage on the stroke
of half time with a well struck low free-kick that skimmed under Greenwood
from 30 yards.
Less than 30 seconds into the second half the game
looked over as Danny Spurling volleyed home an
unstoppable shot from the edge of the area. the young Bury side continued to
play their football and were rewarded with a reply from
Shaun Thorrola just before the hour.
Encouraged Bury pressed forward with the inclusion of Old and Tooke causing
concern in the Felixstowe defence. Old saw his header come back off the bar
before Stuart Walker scored Bury's second from
close range with 25 minutes remaining.
Old had the ball in the net, but ruled off-side, and Crump saved well to deny
Clarke as Bury
increased the pressure, but Felixstowe looked to have held on until
Ben Tooke volleyed home an excellent goal with
just seconds remaining to take the game to extra time.
Bury looked to have the advantage but the experience of Gary Henderson and
Andy Crump came
to the fore as Felixstowe took control of the extra period.
Darius Laws settled nerves scoring two minutes
into extra time and Petr Janacek repeated the
free kick of the first half scoring low for 30yards on the stroke of half-
time.
Bury showed great spirit pressing forward but left themselves exposed to the
counter attack which Matt Stanbridge exploited enabling
Shaun Pugh to tap in the sixth from close range.
A good game of football played between two sporting teams.
Saturday 27th January 2007 -
Reserve League Division North
Felixstowe & Walton United Res. 5 - 0 Leiston Res. (1-0)
Felixstowe:- Danny
Crump, Ben Wyard (Danny Spurling 69), Matt Morgan, Andy Crump, James Peachey, Matt Stanbridge
(Jamie Perry 72), Petr Janacek, Danny Phillips, Danny Spencer (James Heathcote
72), Dwayne Edwards.
A sunny afternoon with both sides playing football to feet and well
Refereed by Alan Dale. A tap in from Stanbridge
after Morgan had struck the post in the 18th minutes saw the Seasiders lead at
the interval with Steward's shot, following a corner, the most dangerous
attempt on goal for the visitors.
Felixstowe showed greater determination after the break,
Phillips scoring with a glancing header from Wyard's cross shortly
after the
restart. Hambling went close for Leiston with a shot from distance
before Crump scored from close range to secure
the points mid-way through the half. Five minutes from time
Edwards hammered home the fourth with
Morgan completing the scoring two minutes before
the final whistle.
A mixed reception to the music on the tanoy which should have been playing 'smoke gets in your eyes' after the neighbours lit a bonfire - just as well we didn't have any washing out !
The first half performance did not light any fires with a
couple of
stars from the unemployed first team needing time and a half time chat to show
the necessary enthusiasm. Leiston's determination and Felixstow's lack of
urgency in front of goal produced only one first half goal. Morgan headed wide
and then fired over the Leiston bar when well placed before his third effort
struck a post for the energetic Matt Stanbridge
pictured left to swoop on the rebound and score from close range.
Keeble and
Steward worked hard for the ball in mid-field and Steward went closest for
Leiston with a well struck volley that was narrowly wide following a corner.
Lambert, in goal for the visitors, produced a good save to deny Spencer but
despite plenty of possession Felixstowe led by only the narrowest of margins
at the interval.
Felixstowe steeped up the tempo after
the break
with immediate affect as Danny Phillips
produced a deft header from Wyard's cross to beat the diving Lambert. Hambling
busy after his introduction went close to reducing the deficit from distance
before Andy Crump tapped in to make the game safe
midway through the half.
A powerful strike from Dwayne Edwards made it four five minutes from time with Matt Morgan knocking home the fifth close to the final whistle.
Tuesday 23rd January 2007 -
Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup - Quarter Final
Felixstowe & Walton United Res. 4 - 1 Mildenhall Town Res.
(1-0)
Felixstowe:- Danny Crump,
Ben Wyard, Danny Glencastle, Karl Mitchell, Gary Henderson, Joe Willet, Matt
Stanbridge, Michael Tomiak, Jamie Perry (Jon McDermott 48), Petr Janacek, Danny Spurling.
Unused subs: Ashley Philips, Lee Gooding.
The Seasiders will travel to Bury Town in the semi-finals of the
competition thanks to an excellent all round team performance capped by two
goals from Danny Spurling.
A balanced first half ended with Jamie Perry
providing the home side with an interval lead after Harrold and Hardy had both
gone close for the visitors.
the Seasiders enjoyed the better of the second half with Pope in the
Mildenhall goal producing a number of fine saves before
Danny Spurling doubled the lead mid-way through the half. When
Corin Hardy pulled a goal back seventeen minutes
from time it looked like Felixstowe may rue those missed chances, but they
pressed on with Michael Tomiak and
Danny Spurling confirming the win.
Mildenhall started brightly with Harrold providing an early test for Crump in
the home goal and Hardy shooting wide, before Wyard's low shot brought a good
save from Pope. Spurling and Stanbridge linked well with Pope alert to
the danger as the game flowed from end to end. Crump was quickly off his line
to deny Hardy and then saved well from Rackman as Mildenhall attacked in
numbers.
Janacek clipped the outside of the Mildenhall bar from distance as Felixstowe
finished the half strongly and four minutes from the break
Jamie Perry tuned well in the area to beat Pope
at his right hand post to provide Felixstowe with a narrow interval lead.
Pope produced a triple save to keep out Perry, Spurling and Tomiak as the
Seasiders developed their passing game in the second half. Harvey tested Crump
but the pairing of Willet and Henderson in the middle of the back four kept
the Mildenhall attack at distance
On sixty six minutes Danny Spurling doubled the
lead heading home from McDermott's cross, but just as the result looked safe
Corin Hardy turned on the edge of the area to
place his shot wide of the diving Crump to set up an exciting finale.
Felixstowe continued to create numerous chances but found Pope on excellent
form before Michael Tomiak eased the tension for
the home fans with a neat flick and volley four minutes from time to provide a
two goal cushion.
Danny Spurling's tireless running was rewarded
when he completed a fine run with a shot under Pope to cap a fine team
performance and book a place in the semi-finals.
Saturday 20th January- Reserve League Division North
Felixstowe & Walton United
Res. 6 - 1 Thetford Town Res. (2-0)
Felixstowe:- Danny Crump, James
Peachey, Ben Wyard, Matt Morgan, Jimmy Andrews, Matt Morgan, Joe Willet
(Karl Mitchell), Danny Spurling, Darius
Laws (Jamie Perry), Jon McDermott (James Heathcote), Danny Spencer, Petr
Janacek.
Following early morning mopping up operations the pitch was declared fit
and with sunshine and a drying wind the pitch was in good condition for the
start of play.
The Seasiders, captained by Ben Wyard right, recorded a comfortable win with four goals in the second half,
but in the first period Thetford created a number of scoring opportunities
which they should have taken.
Fancett went close to opening the scoring for the visitors after only four
minutes following a good break down the left flank but he placed his shot
wide of the target.
Snowdon in the Thetford goal produced two good saves to deny Janacek and
Spencer with McDermott heading narrowly wide as pressure increased on the
Thetford defence and on 20 minutes after McDermott was brought down in the
area Danny Spurling stepped up to fire home from
the spot - pictured.
Crump made a good save to deny the dangerous Fancett as Thetford enjoyed their
best spell of
the game
which should have brought them a goal. Chase placed his shot wide after
Catchpole had created the opening and Lopez was left holding his head after
missing an excellent chance after Sidroy and Fancett combined and Crump
parried Cusack's shot.
Thetford were to rue the missed chances when Danny
Spencer beat the off side trap to round Snowdon and score the second -
pictured.
Both sides were looking to play the ball to feet in the strong wind with
Felixstowe looking the
more likely
to increase their lead. Danny Spurling skipped
through the visiting defence to score his second on 73 minutes and two minutes
later Petr Janacek scored his first goal for the
club with a powerful low drive from the edge of the area- picture at bottom of
the report.
Another two minutes and Jamie Perry made it five
from the edge of the area.
Snowdon produced saves from Janacek, Heathcote - pictured left - and Perry as the Felixstowe dominated before Matthew Catchpole scored a consolation goal with a deep curling cross from the right wing that looped over Crump into the top corner of the net. With seconds remaining Petr Janacek added his second to cap a good team performance.

Tuesday 16th January - Ridgeons Reserve
Division Group Cup - Quarter Finals
Witham Town Res. 3 - 2 Felixstowe & Walton United
Res. (after extra time) {1-1 after 90 mins]
Felixstowe:- Danny Crump, Matt Morgan, Ben Wyard,
James Peachey (Joe Willet), Jimmy Andrews, Owen Symonds, Mike Tomiak, Darius
Laws (Ashley Phillips), Danny Spencer, Danny Spurling, Shaun Pugh (Daniel
Glencastle) .
McDonald's break away goal four minutes from the end of extra time was all
that separated the sides after an exciting cup tie. Both teams played
passing football to feet, on a surface that was a credit to the Witham ground
staff, Felixstowe having the better of the first half with Spurling,
Spencer and Tomiak all going close to opening the scoring.
Crump saved twice
from Murs as the half drew to a close and after the break Witham stepped up
the pressure on the Felixstowe defence. With ten minutes remaining in normal
time Spurling was felled in the area and regained
his composure to slot home from the spot to put the Seasiders ahead. Witham
pushed forward and in time added on Humphrys
claimed the vital touch at the far post from an in-swinging corner to force
home the equaliser.
Extra time, and tired legs saw the game open up with Witham taking the lead
through a superb volley from the edge of the area by
Murs nine minutes into overtime. Back came the Seasiders and with nine
minutes remaining Spurling produced a dipping
volley from 25 yards to make it all square once again.
Penalties loomed but both sides went for the win and with four minutes
remaining Murs broke down the left wing, following a Felixstowe corner,
passing to Mcdonald who slid the ball under the
advancing Crump. There was just time for Long in the Witham goal to save from
Tomiak and deny an equaliser that would have taken the game to penalties.
Defeated on the night but the lads were a credit to the Club against an
impressive Witham side, who we wish all the best in the semi-finals.
Saturday
13th Janaury 2007
- Reserve League Division North
Thetford Town Res. 1 - 5
Felixstowe & Walton United Res. (1-1)
Felixstowe:- D Crump,
Death, Willet, Andrews, A Crump, Morgan, Heathcote (Stanbridge),
Tomiak, McDermott, Perry (Wyard) and Pugh. Subs not
used, Phillips, Gooding.
Felixstowe started the game very well and really should have been in front in
the first 15 minutes but failed to take their chances but a good move in the 18th
minute saw them take the lead when Andrews put a lovely through ball to
Pugh who ran on to shoot passed the advancing
keeper to go 0.1. Thetford were awarded a penalty in
the 24th minute, when one of their players was brought down, and
their No.4 scored. This gave the home team a lift
and saw them finish the half the stronger. H.T. 1.1
In the 48th minute McDermott for
Felixstowe made a good run down the left, his cross was saved by the keeper but
the loose ball fell to Perry who tapped it in to
make it 1.2. A couple of minutes later McDermott passed to Andrews whose shot
was well saved but again Perry
was on hand to slot home the rebound 1.3. This was just what Felixstowe
needed and allowed them to start playing some good football keeping
Thetford on the back foot. Although midway in the
second half Felixstowe’s keeper was called into action when he made a fine one
handed save to his left to deny Thetford the chance
of getting back into the game.
Perry should have scored his hat trick when McDermott set him up but only to see
his shot go past the post. Pugh made a good run down the left and crossed for
Andrews to head home with a fine header. 1.4.
Another good run by Pugh saw the ball being crossed to McDermott whose
shot came off the bar for Stanbridge
to get the rebound and complete the scoring. 1.5. It
may have been a scrappy game in the first half but Felixstowe came out in the
second half much improved and in the end ran out worthy winners.
Saturday 30th December 2007 -
Reserve League Division North
Felixstowe & Walton United Res. 1 - 3 Ipswich Wanderers
Res. (1-1)
Felixstowe:- Crump, Burton,
Gooding, Mitchell, Morgan (Markham), Willet, Stanbridge,
Tomiak, Perry, Heathcote and
Glencastle (Beecroft).
Felixstowe came away from today’s game losing to a very competitive Wanderers
side who had Howell in good form after scoring a hat
trick.
Felixstowe came under pressure early in the game and fell behind in the 9th
minute when they failed to clear their lines after a free kick and
Howell stabbed home the opening goal. 0-1.
Felixstowe came back into the game with a couple of chances and then in the 25th
minute a good through ball from Mitchell found
Heathcote who ran on to slot the ball past
the advancing keeper. 1-1. For the rest of the half
both teams played some good football but failed to make any clear cut chances.
Half time 1-1.
The second half started much the same as the first finished but it was Wanderers who made the break through. In the 69th minute a corner was headed in by Howell giving them the lead. 1-2. Two minutes later Howell completed his hat trick with a good shot. 1-3. At this time in the game Felixstowe were down to 10 men with Morgan off the pitch receiving treatment. Felixstowe had chances to get back into the game but unfortunately did not get the breaks. Full time 1-3
Saturday 16th December 2006 - League
Division North - Kick off 2pm
Felixstowe & Walton United
Res.
3 - 2 Walsham-le-Willows Res.
(1-1)
Felixstowe:-
Crump, Gooding, Phillips, Mitchell, Burton, Willet, Tomiak, Laws, Perry,
Heathcote (Stanbridge)
and Pugh (unused sub Egelton).
Felixstowe went into today’s game short on numbers with players injured or
unavailable in what turned out to be a very entertaining game with Felixstowe
just edging in front in the last five minutes.
Felixstowe’s first attack in the 8th minute was made when Phillips
had a good run down the left and crossed to Perry who flicked the ball onto
Heathcote who in turn passed to Tomiak whose shot
was straight at the Walsham keeper Mustoe.
Walsham had a good spell of pressure and took the
lead in the 30th minute when Felixstowe failed to clear a corner and
after a goal mouth scramble Manning poked the ball
home. 0-1. Six minutes later Felixstowe were on
terms when Pugh’s corner was headed in by Laws.
1-1. Half time 1-1.
The second half started briskly with both teams having some good exchanges but it was Felixstowe who made the break through when in the 64th minute Felixstowe were awarded a free kick which saw Laws cross into the box for Tomiak to head home. 2-1. By now the game started to open up and Walsham were pressing hard for an equalizer. In the 77th minute Walsham drew level. 2-2. This spurred Felixstowe on who started to push Walsham back and in the 85th minute from Pugh’s corner Laws headed his second of the game giving Felixstowe a 3-2 victory. Credit must go to Walsham for a very entertaining game, possibly one of the best of the season. Final result 3-2.
Saturday 9th December 2006 - Ridgeons Reserve League North Division
Felixstowe & Walton United Res. 1 - 2 Woodbridge Town Res. (1-2)
Felixstowe: - Crump, Gooding, Wyard, (Phillips), Mitchell, Millbourne,
Willett, Tomiak, Laws (Stanbridge), Perry, Heathcote (Burton) and Pugh.
Felixstowe took on a very strong Woodbridge side and lost by the
odd goal in a very entertaining game.
Woodbridge started the stronger and forced three corners that came to nothing but it was Felixstowe who opened the scoring when in the 14th minute, against the run of play Perry pulled the ball back from the goal line and the Woodbridge Keeper Gary West could only parry the ball which fell to Heathcote for a simple tap in scoring on his debut against his old club.
Woodbridge continued to press and in the 22nd minute deservedly equalised through Joe Francis when he turned his defender and shot past Crump in the Felixstowe goal to make it 1-1. In the 38th minute Woodbridge took the lead when John Davies shot to make it 1-2.
In the second half it was Felixstowe who forced the pace with several efforts on goal but they could not find the back of the net. Late in the game Felixstowe were denied a penalty when a Woodbridge player looked to have handled in the box. Felixstowe possibly deserved something from this game, against a very good Woodridge side.
Saturday 25th November 2006 -
Ridgeons Reserve League North Division
Felixstowe & Walton United Res. 1 - 2 Bury Town Res.
(0-0)
Felixstowe :- Danny Crump, Danny Carnell, Gary Henderson, Jimmy Andrews,
Andy Crump, Danny Spurling ( Matt Millbourne 85), Matt Morgan, Jon McDermott
(Michael Tomiak 65), Jamie Perry, Shaun Pugh.
Unused subs: Lee Gooding, Ashley Phillips.
Despite overnight rain the pitch passed a 9am inspection and
avoiding the heavy rain that fell
during the
morning elsewhere in
the area was in good condition for start of play.
The league leaders started brightly with Kawaguchi exerting early pressure down the right for Bury. Goody was the first keeper in action comfortably collecting a free kick from Pugh before Brown-war spurned an excellent chance to put Bury ahead when one on one with Danny Crump in the home goal, but the young home keeper was quickly off his line and Brown-War placed his shot over the bar.
Henderson pictured right retuning from injury partnered Andrews in
defence for Felixstowe and they were kept busy with the pace of Piggot and
Thompson testing the home back line.
Both sides
played neat football to feet, as the swirling wind required, with Felixstowe
using the long ball to find McDermott and Perry who were closely watched by
Foster and Catchpole.
Goody was quickly out of his area to deny McDermott pictured left as
Felixstowe looked to find a way through the visiting defence but despite the
ball flowing from end to end the keepers saw little of the ball in the first
half and with the defences on top it was goalless at the break.
McDermott placed his shot wide from Pugh's cross as the first half started in
lively fashion with three goals coming in the first eight minutes. With two
minutes on the watch Bury broke quickly down the right with
Tom Old - seen celebrating right - getting
the vital touch to Brown-War's cross for the opening goal.
Within a minute,
with Bury still celebrating their goal, it was all square as
Jamie Perry pictured left
steered the ball home following a break through the middle of the Bury
defence.
Gary Brown-War capped a good performance with a
strong run under pressure from Andrews to fire home the winner six minutes
later.
Danny Crump produced an excellent save on
the hour, after
Piggot's shot had deflected of his brother Andy, as Bury looked likely to extend
their lead. Walker struck a post before Felixstowe enjoyed a good attacking
spell with Bailey clearing Perry's shot off the line and Goody punching Pugh's
cross clear under pressure from Morgan.
Crump recovered well from a poor clearance to turn Brown-War's shot away as the
game drew to a close.
At the final whistle
Bury deservedly celebrated a fifth win to maintain their 100% record in the
league and full credit to Felixstowe for a good performance.

Needham Market Res. 2 - 1
Felixstowe & Walton United Res. (1-1)
Felixstowe :- Crump, Markham (Phillips), Carnell, Stanbridge (Beecroft),
Millbourne, Glencastle, Mitchell (Burton), Tomiak, McDermott, Spurling and Pugh.
This was a disappointing day for
Felixstowe. Not only did we loose 2-1 but both goals came from defensive
mistakes.
Needham kicked off and in the 4th minute took the lead
through Pollard after
a defensive error from Felixstowe. Unfortunately Crump in the Felixstowe goal
could do nothing about it. This did not deter Felixstowe who began to press
Needham. Pugh had the best chance in the opening minutes but his shot was well
saved by Dootson in the home goal. It was not until the 22nd minute
that Needham managed to get into the Felixstowe half when they were awarded a
corner that came to nothing. From this Felixstowe broke quickly and Tomiak
threaded a superb ball through for
McDermott to go round the keeper and score giving Felixstowe a
much deserved equaliser. 1-1. Felixstowe continued to press for the remainder
of the half but did not take advantage of their numerous chances.
Felixstowe kicked off and almost went in front when Spurling’s shot was cleared off the line for a corner. The game hit a low spell where neither team could break each other down. In the 80th minute against the run of play Needham took the lead when a poor back pass from a Felixstowe defender was intercepted by Pollard who scored. 2-1. For the final 10 minutes Felixstowe pressed hard for the equaliser but to no avail. This was a strange game in which Felixstowe’s keeper Crump had very little to do with only the odd shot to save but Needham’s keeper was possibly man of the match along with their defensive trio who kept Needham in the game.
Wednesday 18th October 2006 - Ridgeons Reserve
Division - Group 4 Cup
Stanway Rovers Res. 0 - 4 Felixstowe &
Walton United Res. (0-1)
Felixstowe:- D.Crump, Glencastle, Morgan, Laws, (Mitchell), A.Crump, Millbourne,
(Phillips), Spurling, (Tomiak), Buckle, McDermott, Edwards and Pugh.
Although Felixstowe beat Stanway by 4 goals, the game was a lot closer than the score line suggests with Stanway playing their part in an entertaining game. Felixstowe took the game to Stanway and it was no surprise when they went ahead in the 14th minute with a good piece of pressure from Edwards which led to Stanway’s keeper and defender colliding and Edwards picked up the loose ball to score. For the remainder of the half Felixstowe had various chances that came to nothing.
Stanway started the second half very well and were pressing for the equalizer but Andy Crump and co in the Felixstowe defence held firm and when Stanway did manage to break them down, Danny Crump in Felixstowe’s goal was equal to them with two fine saves. Against the run of play, Felixstowe got their second when McDermott harried the Stanway fullback into a mistake and McDermott, with only the keeper to beat, made no mistake, making it 0.2. This did not deter Stanway who continued to press but with the game almost over Felixstowe got two more, man of the match McDermott received a square ball from Edwards and shot past Stanway’s keeper making it 0.3 and two minutes later McDermott crossed for Edwards to score his second of the game.
Saturday
14th October - Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup - 2nd Round
Felixstowe & Walton United Res. 2 - 0
Stowupland Falcons Res. (2-0)
Felixstowe:- Crump D, Markwell,
Phillips, Stanbridge, Wyard (Mitchell),
Glencastle, Spurling,
Tomiak (Burton), Crump A,
Perry (Millbourne) and Pugh. Sub unused
Beecroft.
Felixstowe started the game well and took the game to Stowupland in the opening minutes and deserved to take the lead in the 25th minute with a superbly taken free kick from Spurling giving the Stowupland keeper no chance. Felixstowe continued to press for a second but found the visitors defence hard to break down. However, in the 40th minute a corner by Pugh for Felixstowe, was met by Spurling at the near post with a fine header to make it 2.0.
The second half went much the same as the first with Felixstowe taking the game to Stowupland but found the visitor’s defence in fine form. Full time 2.0
Saturday 7th October - Ridgeons Reserve Division - League match
Woodbridge Town Res. 1 - 5 Felixstowe &
Walton United Res.
Felixstowe:- Cudworth (Crump.D),
Markham, Wyard (Millbourne),
Stanbridge, Crump.A, Willett, Burton, Tomiak
(Beecroft), McDermott, Spurling
and Phillips.
Felixstowe were back on league duty against near
neighbours Woodbridge in a lively encounter where both teams
played some good football. It was Felixstowe who started stronger and went in
front after only three minutes when a long ball out of defence saw
McDermott head the ball over a defender and he ran
on to shoot past the advancing West in the Woodbridge goal.
Felixstowe had two more chances to go further ahead in the next few
minutes but failed to make the most of these. In the 18th minute a
fine through ball from Tomiak put McDermott away to
shoot past the keeper for his second goal.
Three minutes later Felixstowe were awarded a free kick on the edge
of the Woodbridge area and Spurling
duly scored from the kick with a fine shot. With the third goal, Felixstowe
seemed to ease off the pressure and allowed Woodbridge to get back into the
game. Woodbridge pulled a goal back from
Gilf when he turned two defenders and shot
past Cudworth in the Felixstowe goal giving the
visitors keeper no chance. Just
before half time Stanbridge for Felixstowe had a
lovely shot that saw a good save from West in the Woodbridge goal.
In the 50th minute Felixstowe were
awarded a corner. Spurling crossed the ball into
the box and Wyard met the ball with a fine header
into the goal making it 1-4. In the 63rd minute Felixstowe completed
the scoring when Spurling sent in a cross from a
corner and Burton headed in off the
post.
To Woodbridge’s credit they never gave up and being a very young side ran
their socks off right until the end of the game and were possibly unlucky not to
reduce the score line with three or four good shots being saved by Crump in the
Felixstowe goal.
Saturday 23rd September - Ridgeons Reserve Division - League match
Diss Town Res. 2 - 1 Felixstowe & Walton
United Res. (1-0)
Felixstowe:- Crump, Gooding, Phillips, Sutton, Glencastle, Willett, Stanbridge,
(Beecroft), Tomiak, McDermott, Rodwell, and Burton. Sub not used, Wyard.
With call off’s in the morning,
Felixstowe travelled to Diss with a smaller squad than usual, and came away with
a disappointing defeat.
Felixstowe started the game very well and in the first 15 minutes should have been 3 up but poor finishing and good goalkeeping keeping the scores level, in the 31st minute Felixstowe were unlucky, from a Sutton corner Tomiak hit the bar with a good header, soon after Tomiak had a shot and the Diss keeper Peake pulled off a fine save. Against the run of play Diss took the lead through a header from Watts. Not long after this, Glencastle for Felixstowe cleared off the line.
Felixstowe were awarded a penalty in the 53rd minute when McDermott was brought down in the box with the Diss player getting a red card and Sutton scoring for Felixstowe. Felixstowe continued to press Diss but again some awful finishing from good positions was Felixstowe’s downfall, Diss almost took the lead in the 79th minute, but Sutton came to Felixstowe’s rescue when he cleared off the line then in injury time Watts got the winner for Diss. Felixstowe had so many chances but just could not find the net, this was a very poor result in a game we should not have lost.
Tuesday 19th September 2006 - Chell Trophy 1st Round
Halstead Town Res. 0 - 2 Felixstowe & Walton
United Res. (0-1)
Felixstowe:- Leggett, Glencastle,
(Burton), Wyard, Morgan, Simmonds,
Crump.A, Mitchell, (Gooding), Laws, McDermott,
Spencer, (Markwell), and Pugh.
Felixstowe came out on top of this keenly fought cup tie, with a goal in each
half.
All the early pressure came from Felixstowe, and it was not until the 18th minute that Leggett for Felixstowe was called on to make a save. Soon after this Pugh for Felixstowe had a blistering run that took him past two defenders and the keeper, only to trip just as he was going to pull the ball back from the goal line. Felixstowe took the lead in the 30th minute when Spencer pounced onto a poor back pass, and calmly slot the ball past the advancing keeper. Felixstowe continued to press and were unlucky not to go further ahead when Wyard had a header off the line from a corner.
Halstead started the second half very well. Although they had plenty of the ball they never really troubled Leggett in the Felixstowe goal. In the 70th minute Pugh hit the post with a shot. Leggett came to Felixstowe’s rescue with a finger tip save in the 85th minute then Felixstowe went down to the other end and Wyard crossed from the half way line for Morgan to head home putting Felixstowe into the next round after an entertaining game.
Saturday
16th September 2006
Ridgeons
Reserve Division - Group 4 Cup
Felixstowe & Walton United Res. 7 - 0 Long Melford
Res. (1-0)
Felixstowe:- Crump, Gooding, Wyard, Sutton (Markwell),
Simmons, Willett, Mitchell (Burton), Tomiak
(Phillips), McDermott, Morgan, and Pugh.
Subs not used Rodwell.
Felixstowe started the game well with chances falling to McDermott and
deservedly went in front in the 25th minute when
Sutton scored straight from a corner.
Felixstowe continued to cause Melford problems and
should have gone in at the break further ahead with McDermott giving
the Melford defence a hard time.
Felixstowe
started the second half as they finished the first with
Melford’s defence having problems with Pugh’s pace. Felixstowe went
further ahead in the 49th minute when McDermott
finally got on the score sheet with a good turn and shot. 2-0.
Not long after this Pugh had a good run down the left
and pulled the ball back for McDermott to score his
second. 3-0.
In the 60th minute Felixstowe got a corner and from this
Wyard headed into the net at the far post. 4-0.
By now Melford were
having the odd break but were not causing Felixstowe too many problems, it was
only the Melford keeper Watcham keeping the score line
down with saves from McDermott, Pugh and Wyard.
In the 73rd minute a header by Morgan to Pugh resulted in
Pugh scoring Felixstowe’s 5th.
A minute later Pugh
scored his second from a good run and shot. Probably the best was left to last
when in the 85th minute Pugh brought the
ball down, turned and shot into the top corner giving
Watcham absolutely no chance, thus giving Pugh his hat trick.
Melford were unlucky that they caught
Felixstowe on such a good day when the whole team performed superbly and their
general play was outstanding. Full time 7-0.
Saturday
9th September 2006
Ridgeons Reserve Division - League match
Ipswich Wanderers Res. 1 v 2
Felixstowe & Walton United Res. (1-1)
Felixstowe:- D Crump, Gooding,
Markwell, Sutton, Willett, Wyard, Burton (Beecroft), Tomiak,
McDermott, Stanbridge (Rodwell)
and Phillips.
Felixstowe started very well with McDermott, making
his debut, looking lively up front with a couple of half chances early in the
game. In the 15th minute McDermott for
Felixstowe made a strong run down the right to the goal line and crossed across
goal for Stanbridge to
tap in for a deserved lead.
In the 23rd minute there was a bit of controversy when Wyard for
Felixstowe fouled a Wanderers player on the edge of the box, the referee blew
for a foul and the Felixstowe players stopped but the Wanderers players carried
on and put the ball in the net. The referee gave a goal but after talking to
some of the players he changed his mind and awarded Wanderers a free kick on the
edge of the box. Wanderers did level the score in the 33rd minute
when Tynan crossed from
the right with a ball that went over Crump's head and in off the far post.
Stannard in the Wanderers goal was much the
busier of the two keepers and pulled of a good save from Phillips just before
half time.
The first 20 minutes of the second half was fairly mediocre with possibly Wanderers just having the edge. Felixstowe did have a good chance in the 74th minute when substitute Rodwell put a good through ball for McDermott to run on to but he could only shoot into the side netting. Three minutes later Felixstowe took the lead when Tomiak won the ball in midfield and put a fine ball through to McDermott who this time made no mistake running on to shoot and score. In the final few seconds of the game Wanderers almost snatched an equaliser after a goal mouth scramble saw Crump save on the line.
Felixstowe deserved the victory with Wyard and Willett outstanding in defence and Sutton and Tomiak very strong in midfield.
Saturday
2nd September 2006
Ridgeons
Reserve Division - Group 4 Cup
Felixstowe & Walton United
Res. 0 - 3 Haverhill Rovers Res. (0-1)
Felixstowe:- D Crump, Markwell, Wyard, Gooding,
Willett, Glencastle, Stanbridge, (Rodwell), Laws, (Beecroft),
Perry, Tomiak, and Phillips (Burton).
Haverhill kicked off and
went straight onto the attack with David shooting over the bar. For the first 15
minutes Haverhill pinned Felixstowe in their own half
but in the 17th minute, after good build up,
Tomiak for Felixstowe flicked the ball on for Perry to shoot wide. Crump
came to Felixstowe’s rescue on two occasions with good saves from
Claydon and Jenkin. In the 37th minute
Haverhill took a deserved lead through Jenkin when
he rose to meet a cross from Sharp.
The second half started with Felixstowe looking
more determined but they were dealt a blow when Laws, bravely trying to get on
the end of a Tomiak pass, slid in and was accidentally caught in the face with a
boot and had to leave the field with a cut face and was replaced by Beecroft.
In the 57th minute Haverhill went further in front when
Jenkin shot and Crump made a super save only to see the
ball rebound off Claydon
and go into the net. In the 65th minute Felixstowe were unlucky not
to pull one back through Beecroft who, after a super
run of about 40 yards, found he was clean through with only the keeper to beat
but his shot hit the outside of the post. Haverhill completed the scoring
through Hurkitt while
Willett for Felixstowe was off the field being treated. Although Haverhill
deserved their win the score line was a bit flattering.
Saturday
26th August 2006 -
Ridgeons
Reserve Division - Group 4 Cup
Debenham L.C. Res.
1 - 2 Felixstowe & Walton United
Res. (0-0)
Felixstowe:-
Danny Crump, Markham, Wyard, Glencastle, Andrews,
Gooding, Stanbridge (Beecroft),
Sutton, Perry, Burton and Rodwell.
Felixstowe travelled to Debenham for the first match of the new season with a
much changed side from last year.
Debenham kicked off and immediately went straight onto the
attack with Canfer shooting just wide. The first few minutes saw
Debenham in control and it was not until the 12th
minute that Felixstowe had their first shot. A good move down the left between
Wyard and Rodwell saw Rodwell
pass to Perry who shot just wide of the near post.
A couple of minutes later Sutton for Felixstowe had a shot that the
Debenham keeper Lambert could only tip over the bar
for a corner. From the resulting corner Wyard headed just wide.
Debenham started to apply a bit of pressure and gained three or four free
kicks just inside the Felixstowe half but poor finishing prevented them going in
front. In the 28th minute Debenham were
clean through and Crump in the Felixstowe goal made a fine one on one save. Two
minutes later Debenham’s Ince crossed for Canfer to
head goalwards only to be denied by a superb reflex
save from Crump. The game was now in full flow.
What then happened was quite extraordinary, the referee gave a straight red card
to Felixstowe’s Gooding for supposed violent conduct. This was only seen
through the referee’s eyes as the opposition player concerned, the opposition
and the opposition management did not think the incident warranted a red card.
This seemed to change the game and for the remainder of the
half Felixstowe were put under pressure.
Felixstowe reorganised and in the 50th minute a lovely through ball from Sutton found Perry who ran through to put Felixstowe in front. 0-1. The game was end to end at this point and in the 65th minute Crump came to Felixstowe’s rescue again with another fine save. By now Debenham were pushing forward and with Felixstowe on the back foot Debenham had two or three chances but again poor finishing and good goal-keeping kept Felixstowe’s lead intact. In the 80th minute against the run of play a long ball out from Crump in the Felixstowe goal found Perry closing in on the keeper just beating him to the ball and heading over into an empty net giving Felixstowe a 2-0 lead. For the last 10 minutes Debenham applied the pressure and pulled one back in the 86th minute through Bloomfield. Just before the final whistle Perry for Felixstowe, who was having a fine game, was unlucky in not getting his hat trick when his shot went into the side netting.
It was a good game with both sides playing good football and Debenham were possibly slightly unlucky in not getting something from the game.
