Junior Section Match Reports and information
Season 2007 - 2008
Final Junior Reports 2008
Under 8’s The youngest of our teams finished their debut season with the ‘A’ team in 6th place in the league. The team’s best result coming in their penultimate match with 4-1 away win over Martlesham Youth. The ‘B’ team finished in a creditable 3rd place, their highlights were a double over Sizewell & Knodishall, winning 7-1 away and 8-1 at home. Top scorer for the under 8’s was Samuel Clarkson with 8.
Under 9’s The nines continued their good form from last season, with the ‘A’ team finishing in 6th place. The lads had 5-0, 6-0, 7-0 and 8-1 wins in the league as well as a terrific Cup run that took them all the way to the final only to lose out narrowly to a Witnesham Wasps side that had beaten them 4-0 twice in the league. The ‘B’s finished in fourth place and also had some big wins. A 9-0 win over Claydon in the Cup was surpassed with a 12-0 win in the league; however, their best result was a 13-0 win in the cup against Sizewell & Knodishall.\top scorers for the 9’s were Harley Barkes with 18 and Charlie Brown with 19.
Under 10’s After surviving in division one last season, the lads could not repeat their form this year. With both sides ending in 9th place, they will be playing next year in division two. Unfortunately, due to lack of information these are all the details of this team that we have.
Under 11’s The 11’s will also be playing in division two next season, both teams finished their final year of mini soccer in 11th position. However, with three 11-a-side matches played recently in preparation for next year, things are looking up. Top scorer for the 11’s was Charlie Kensworthy with 14.
Under 12’s A vital 1-0 win over local rivals Kirton Kestrels in their final match ensured that the lads will be playing in the top division next season. The lads had several exciting matches along the way, including 5-3 and 8-6 wins over Holbrook Hornets. Top scorer for the 12’s was Sam “Nugget” Newman with nine.
Under 13’s For the second year running, the boys finished in fourth place in the table. On their return visit to Quintus F C in Holland, the lads returned with the Vis/Curry Cup after 4-4 draw and a penalty shootout. At home, they also had good runs in both the League and County cups, making the ¼ finals in both competitions. Twice this season the lads hit twelve goals in a match against Waveney Youth and Witnesham Wasps. Top scorers were Jordan Youngs with 37 and Luke Turner with 38.
Under 14’s After a season full of turmoil the boys finished at the bottom of the table with just one point gained in their penultimate league match. Despite their sometimes heavy defeats, the lads continued to battle on and credit should go to them for their determination to turn up each week and try to compete. Next season they should have a better time in division two having learnt from their experiences. Terry Dean and Luke Fountain both managed five goals each.
Under 14’s Girls The girls finished their second season in a very creditable 6th place. During the league campaign, they had 6-0 and 7-0 wins over Bury Town and an 8-0 win over Waveney Youth. Top scorers for the girls were Sophie Crane with 18 and Gabby Swann with 20.
Under 15’s Wins in their last three league matches meant that the lads finished in 6th position in the table. The team also made the semi finals of the League Cup where they were beaten 4-1 by Woodbridge Town, and three of the squad represented the club in the Suffolk County team. Once again, the top scorer for the team was Matthew Mackenzie who fired home 21 goals in his 23 matches. Matthew now has an incredible 186 goals in his 194 appearances for the club, both of which are records.
Under 15’s Girls The girls finished in 4th place after another challenging season. Often struggling to put out a full team the girls battled away valiantly. Their best results coming against Framlingham Town with 3-1 and 4-1 wins. Top scorer for the girls was new signing Madelaine Britton who scored 13 times in her 16 appearances.
Under 16’s In their final season of junior football the lads finished in 4th place. After a poor start to the year, the lads ended on a good run winning their final three matches including an away win over the eventual champions, Framlingham Town. Top scorer was Nick Duff with 13 goals. Shaun Sadler finished as the squads top scorer with 58 goals and Matthew Kempson finished with the most appearances with 191.
Unfortunately this season also saw the death of Alex Craig; Alex had been the manager of the team from the very beginning when the boys were just six years old. His influence on the lads could not be underestimated and he is sadly missed by all who knew him.
Finally, I would just like to say a big thank you to all of the junior committee members, managers and coaches who have put in so much hard work over the last twelve months. This has ensured that Felixstowe and Walton United are still one of the premier junior clubs in Suffolk.
Roy Kempson.

evening, they lost out 6-1 with the seasider’s goal being scored by Ben

Early in the second half, they extended their lead with a goal from top scorer Madelaine Britton. However, the girls allowed the opposition back into the match and conceded two sloppy goals and the game ended 2-2. With other teams still to play their matches, the girls will finish in either 4th or 5th spot.
Under 16’s
The lads have completed their fixtures and finished in 4th
place, the teams top scorer was Nick Duff with 13
goals.
We wish the lads all the best next year in their first season in the senior side
of the club as under 18’s.
This weekend saw the clubs annual under 9’s tournament played at Dellwood Avenue. With 12 sides from the local area taking part, the teams were divided into two groups of six with the winners and runners up from each group meeting in the semi-finals. After some close matches Felixstowe & Walton won group ‘A’ with Kesgrave the runners up. Group ‘B’ was won by Framlingham with St Johns in second.
The first semi saw the home side against St Johns, with no goals the match went into sudden death golden goal. A remarkable free kick from the half way line went straight into the top corner and sealed the win for the seasiders. The other semi-final was a one sided affair with Kesgrave Kestrels the comfortable winners.
The final was another close match with Kesgrave beating the seasiders by a single goal. Thanks to everyone who made the day such a success.

THE ‘A’ TEAM BOYS ARE NOW LOOKING FORWARD TO THEIR CUP FINAL ON THE 10TH OF MAY WHEN THEY PLAY WITNESHAM WASPS.
Under 10’s The 10’s completed their fixtures with home games against AFC Kesgrave. The A’s lost out 3-1 whilst the ‘B’s lost 3-2. The results mean that the A’s finish in 9th place and the B’s will finish either 9th or 10th.
Under 11’s
In their penultimate mini soccer matches, the lads travelled to third placed
side, St Johns. In the ‘A’
match, a hat trick for Charlie Kensworthy and a goal for Matthew Bury
were enough to secure a terrific 4-2 win over a team that started the day 34
points ahead of them in the table.
In the ‘B’ match, St Johns
started the day at the top of the table and needed a win to guarantee the title.
They achieved this with a comfortable 7-1 win, the seasiders only goal being
scored by Jordan Smyth.
With one match left to play the teams top scorer is Charlie Kensworthy with 13 goals. Despite winning, three of their last four matches the lads will play their football in division two next season.
Under 12’s In their final league game of the season the boys saved the best until last achieving their first clean sheet of the campaign. At home to local rivals Kirton Kestrels, the lads knew that only a win would guarantee Division One football next season. In a tense first half neither side could break the deadlock but early in the second period the seasiders nearly found a way through. Sam ‘Nugget’ Newman playing his 99th and final game for the team beat the offside trap and was one on one with the Kirton keeper. However, he was denied by a fine save and the game remained scoreless. Ten minutes from time Ricco Dimascio collected the ball out on the right and rifled a shot into the top corner of the net from 25 yards. The lads then held off the opposition for the final minutes and ensured top-flight football next year. This seasons top scorer was once again the ‘Nugget’ with nine goals.
THE BOYS ARE NOW LOOKING FORWARD TO THE VISIT, OVER THE BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND, OF OUR FRIENDS FROM QUINTUS FC IN HOLLAND. AMONGST OTHER THINGS, THE TEAM WILL HOST A TOURNAMENT ON THE SATURDAY AND WILL PLAY FOR THE VIS/CURRY CUP ON THE SUNDAY MORNING AT DELLWOOD AVENUE, BEFORE A TRIP TO IPSWICH TOWN.
Under 13’s The lads travelled to mid table Claydon Youth and returned with the three points after a 6-4 win. No details at this time of the scorers. The lads have two matches left to play and are currently in 4th place in the table.
Under 14’s After 21 matches the lads finally broke their duck with a 3-3 draw against mid table Witnesham Wasps. Luke Fountain, Liam King and James Taylor were the scorers against a team that had beaten them 4-1 earlier in the campaign. The lads still have three matches left to play including a double header against the league leaders East Bergholt.
Under 14’s Girls The girls have finished their league games and ended in fifth spot in the table; their leading scorers were Gabby Swann with 20 and Sophie Crane with 18.
Under 15’s The lads continued their push for a top five finish with a 3-0 win against Bacton Youth. Against a side struggling in the bottom half of the table, the lads took control from the start. With several of the team’s usual starters on the bench, the fringe players took their opportunity to show what they were capable of. Midway through the half, a cross from George Kemp was volleyed home by Jamal Wiggins. Changes were made at the interval and two of the subs combined for the second goal. Matthew Mackenzie crossed the ball in from the right and Lewis Johnson thumped the ball in to double the advantage. The third and final goal came when Liam Butcher’s attempted cross deceived everyone and nestled into the corner of the net. A second consecutive clean sheet and still in fifth place with two matches to play.
Under 15’s Girls No match for the girls this week. They have two matches left to play and are currently in 4th place.
Under 16’s The lads have completed their fixtures and finished in 4th place, the teams top scorer was Nick Duff with 13 goals.
We wish the lads all the best next year in their first season in the senior side of the club as under 18’s.

Matches played weekend 12th /13th April 2008
Under 8’s The ‘A’ team
have completed all their fixtures and finished in 6th place.
The ‘B’ team have completed all their fixtures and finished in 3rd place.
The team’s top scorer was Sam Clarkson with 8 goals.
Under 9’s Having lost out to their opponents twice already in the league this season, the boys viewed the trip to Woodbridge Town in the semi finals of the cup with trepidation. However, they produced their best performance of the season to win the match 2-1. The woodpeckers took an early lead however, the boys hit back before the interval, with a well-taken goal from Aaron Bull. The second half was a close affair with both teams creating chances and Ollie Rose in the seasiders goal was kept on his toes. With five minutes to play, the lads grabbed what proved to be the winning goal with a great header from Bradley Bullock. The seasiders now progress through to the Cup final on May the 10th where they will play Witnesham Wasps.
The ‘A’ team have completed all their league fixtures and
finished in 6th place.
The ‘B’ team have completed all their league fixtures and finished in 4th place.
The team’s top scorers were Charlie Brown 19, Harley Barkes 18, Eddie Marshall 15 and Samuel Gilder with 14.
Under 10’s At home to local rivals Kirton Kestrels, the ‘A’ team lost out 1-0 and remain in the relegation zone. The ‘B’s could not field a team, so they had to concede the match.
Under 11’s With no league match this week, the boys played their first 11-a-side friendly against Martlesham Youth. Despite being beaten, the lads will learn valuable lessons for next season. Charlie Kensworthy and Liam Lacey scored the goals for the seasiders.
Under 12’s No match for the lads this week.
Under 13’s No match for the lads this week.
Under 14’s No match for the lads this week.
Under 14’s Girls The girls have finished their league games and ended in fifth spot in the table; their leading scorers were Gabby Swann with 20 and Sophie Crane with 18.
Under 15’s Another of our teams to make the semi-finals of the cup, the 15’s also travelled to a Woodbridge Town side that will end the season as champions if they can manage to play all the games that they have in hand. The lads were under pressure straight from the kick off, with the home side enjoying the bulk of the possession. Midway through the half, a mistake at the back allowed the home striker through and the seasiders were a goal behind. Moments later Matthew Mackenzie went close to levelling the scores with a shot that just went wide of the post. However, it was the home side that scored next to increase their lead with a break from midfield. Just before the break, a rare Felixstowe corner was swung in by Charles Gosling and it was firmly met by the leaping Mackenzie who made no mistake. A few changes were made at half time to try to liven up the side but the second half was dominated by the Woodpeckers and two more goals followed to produce a comfortable win and progress to the final.
Under 15’s Girls Away at second in the table Boxford Rovers the girls had their work cut out especially as in the second half they lost a player through injury and had no substitute. Top scorer Madelaine Britton did manage to knock in her 13th goal of the season, but the girls lost out 8-1.
Under 16’s
With their league matches now finished the 16’s played their end of season
presentation game against a team made up of Dads and Coaches. With youth and
speed on their side, the youngsters took an early lead through Liam
Wainwright who drove through from midfield to score. Two minutes later, a
shirt pull that the referee, Andy Wilding deemed to be deliberate,
resulted in a penalty. Up stepped left back Jonathan Gage, who in his
previous 167 appearances for the team had never managed to get on the score
sheet. He struck the ball calmly into the corner of the net past the diving
Jamie Read, to double the lead.
Changes were made to the Dads side to bring on fresh legs but they were soon
further behind when Shaun Sadler made it 3-0 with half an hour played.
The Dads and Coaches team were now starting to gel and they began to get more
into the game. Just before the break Tim Colson got the better of his son
Will, and fired home from 10 yards.
The second half was a closer affair with the young lads unable to break down the
organised experienced defence. A couple of chances did come the way of the dads
with the best of them a left foot shot that unfortunately was blasted high over
the bar by yours truly. The game ended with both teams having enjoyed the
experience but with the dads fearing the consequences of their exertions in the
morning. Pictures from the game
After the game, everyone retired to the clubhouse to enjoy a buffet laid on by
the mums, this was then followed by the awards ceremony.
As well as their medals, the boys all received a CD of photos
taken throughout the season by mum Gill Sadler. The main awards for the
team were as follows:
Top Scorer 2000/08 Shaun Sadler 57.
Most Appearances 2000/08 Matthew Kempson 191.
Best Attitude Award 2007/08 Robert Craig.
Managers Player 2007/08 Nathan Stephenson.
Players Player 2007/08 Tom Greeves.
We wish the lads all the best next year in their first season in the senior side of the club as under 18’s.

Matches played weekend 5th /6th April 2008.
After the Easter break most of our teams were back in action last weekend.
Under 8’s
The ‘A’ team have completed all their fixtures and finished in 6th
place.
The ‘B’ team have completed all their fixtures and finished in 3rd place. The
team’s top scorer was Sam Clarkson with 8 goals.
Under 9’s
At home to Woodbridge Town,
the boys were on the back foot early on as the visitors had the majority of the
possession. A goal either side of the interval gave the woodpeckers the upper
hand, and despite several good chances the seasiders could not find the vital
goal to get them back in the match. The two sides meet again on Saturday in the
semi finals of the cup.
The ‘A’ team have completed all their fixtures and finished in 6th
place.
As in the ‘A’ game, the boys were under the cosh from the start
and by half time, they were 4-0 behind. Some solid defending from Ben Read
and Robbie White kept the score down to 6-0 in the second half and when
Harry Stanbridge scored just before the final whistle the lads had something
to show for their efforts. Thanks should go also to Harry Mitchell of the
under 8’s who had turned up for training with his team and ended up playing in
goal for the older lads.
The ‘B’ team have completed all their fixtures and finished in 4th place.
The team’s top scorers were Charlie Brown 19, Harley Barkes 18, Eddie Marshall 15 and Samuel Gilder with 14.
Under 10’s At home against top of the table St Johns the ‘A’ team lads lost out 4-0 and the ‘B’s had to forfeit the match due to lack of players. The lads have two league matches left to play.
Under 11’s In a bottom of the table clash, the lads 11th travelled to Claydon Sports who were 10th. In the ‘A’ game, the lads were 3-0 up at the break and ended up winning 5-1. Charlie Kensworthy scored four goals and Ben Parker the other.
Things were tighter in the ‘B’ game with Jordan Smyth’s goal equalising an earlier strike from the home side. The 11’s have two matches left to play.
Under 12’s
The boys travelled to 4th placed Woodbridge Town for their
penultimate league match. Despite the opposition only being able to field nine
players, the lads could not get going and were punished twice early on.
George Connor’s goal should have been the catalyst for a revival but they
conceded again just before the break. A few changes were made at the interval
but to no avail and the home side scored twice more to seal a comfortable win.
The lads’ last match is on the 19th when they play local rivals
Kirton Kestrels, the lads need a win to give them a chance of remaining in
Division One nest season.
Two players in the team reached a milestone this week by making their 100th
appearances they were Sam Barber and Ricco
Dimascio.
Under 13’s This weekend’s match against St Johns was cancelled. The boys have three matches left to play and are currently 4th in the table.
Under 14’s The lads’ miserable season continued with a trip to second placed Claydon Sports. Their only highlight of the 4-1 defeat was a 5th goal of the season for Terry Dean. The lads are still looking for their first points and have four games left.
Under 14’s Girls The girls welcomed Bacton for their last league match of the season. With the visitors starting the better, Hannah Emery was kept busy between the posts, but as the half wore on, the seasiders began to apply some pressure of their own. Fired up after a rousing team talk during the interval, the girls were soon back to their best and within ten minutes, they were 3-0 ahead. The first from a Sophie Crane corner was a glancing header by Rebecca Cope for her first goal for the club. Sophie then went from provider to scorer and struck twice in quick succession to seal the win. Bacton then defended deep and tried to score on the break but the score remained the same until the final whistle.
The win sees the girls finish in 5th spot in the table; their leading scorers were Gabby Swann with 20 and Sophie Crane with 18.
Under 15’s With a cup semi final against Woodbridge Town coming up next weekend, the boys could have been forgiven for not taking a lot of interest in a mid table clash with Kesgrave Kestrels in the league. That said, it was the home side who took the imitative early on and the seasiders needed to defend well. Having survived the early pressure, the lads started to play their usual brand of attacking football and they began to create chances. The opening goal eventually came from a Charles Gosling corner, which was headed against the underside of the bar by Sam Boggis. The ball bounced down, hit a Kesgrave defender and went into the net. The second half was a more even affair with the Kestrels going close with a shot that hit the seasiders post. In the dying minutes, a through ball from George McCallum found Liam Butcher who slotted the ball neatly home to seal the points. Playing in midfield, Jamal Wiggins made his 100th appearance for the side. The lads have three more matches to play and are currently 6th.
Under 15’s Girls This week the girls entertained Framlingham Town in what turned out to be a quite remarkable match. Taking an early two-goal lead through Josie Haward and Leanne Lockwood, the girls looked comfortable against the league’s bottom side. The visitors then got one back, before Josie scored her second to restore the two-goal advantage just before the interval. After the restart Fram scored their second (now 3-2) before Briley Coates made it 4-2 to the seasiders. Once again, the visitors pulled a goal back only for Briley to grab her second, and for the fourth time the girls had a two-goal lead (now 5-3). Unfortunately, it did not stay that way and two late goals gave the girls from Framlingham a share of the points. Final score 5-5. The girls are in 4th place and have three matches left to play.
Under 16’s The lads have finished their final season of junior football in 4th place in the table. This Sunday they will be holding their presentations in the clubhouse after a match against a combined Dads and Coaches team.

Matches played weekend 15th /16th March 2008
Under 8’s For
their last match of their debut season the boys welcomed Woodbridge Town
to Dellwood Avenue. In the ‘A’ match, the boys secured a 0-0 draw against
the 3rd placed team. The point leaves the lads in 6th
place in the table; however, they may drop to 7th if Sizewell win
their last match.
The ‘B’s in third themselves were up against a Woodbridge side who
were a place above them in the league. Unfortunately, a goal from Benjamin
Barkes was not enough for the win and the boys went down 3-1. The ‘B’s will
finish the season in a very creditable third place, a great start to their
Felixstowe & Walton careers. Top scorers for the lads were Samuel Clarkson
with eight goals, Haydon Dadswell with seven, and Luke Barnes with
six.
Under 9’s No report from the 9’s yet, but the ‘A’s lost out 3-2 at Trimley Red Devils whilst the ‘B’s won 1-0.
Under 10’s No report from the 10’s yet, but the ‘A’s & ‘B’s both won 1-0 away from home at Claydon Youth.
Under 11’s Away from home at Witnesham Wasps the ‘A’ team were unlucky to lose out by 1-0 to a side who were five places and thirteen points above them in the table.
The ‘B’s had their work cut out against a team that started the day 30 points and eight places ahead. The boys battled well but lost out 3-0 to a very good Wasps team.
Under 12’s With a depleted squad of only 11 available players, the boys were at home to third placed Martlesham Youth. Four down at half time the lads tried to battle on but when they lost a man through injury early in the second half, a fight-back was clearly beyond them. Martlesham scored four more without reply despite a brave effort from keeper Nathan Bowdidge who never gave up. One highlight from the game was it marked the 100th appearance by Isaac Chenery.
Under 13’s The boys made it three wins on the trot with a great 1-0 victory over top of the table Ransomes. No details of the goal scorer at this time. The win keeps the lads in fourth place in the table.
Under 14’s Still looking for their first points the boys were at home to Woodbridge Town, no details yet but they lost out 9-1.
Under 14’s Girls No result at this time for the girls match away against Bury Town ‘B’.
Under 15’s No match for the lads this week, as three of the lads were on county duty.
Under 15’s Girls In a tight match the girls were at home to Brightlingsea Regent. They took an early lead through Josie Haward when she tapped in from close range after a corner. However the lead lasted just two minutes before the visitors capitalised on some poor defending and equalised. Just before half time a cross from Leanne Lockwood was swept into an unguarded net by Leanne Duke to re-establish the lead. The second half was a tight affair with both sides defending well but with o further score the girls hung on for the three points. The win puts the girls in fifth, just a point behind their visitors with two matches in hand. The match also saw Josie Haward make her 50th appearance for the club.
Under 16’s The lads played their last ever league match as juniors at home to fifth placed Sutton Heath. They made the worst possible start when a defensive mistake from a long ball over the top, meant that they conceded a goal after just ten minutes. However, in the following 12 minutes they came back with the best possible reply. Three goals from Shaun Sadler, twice through one on one with he rounded the keeper to slot home and he finished his hat trick with a well-placed penalty, when a Sutton Defender handled in the box. On the brink of half time Martin Janacek found Tom Copsey out wide on the right wing and he rifled his shot into the top corner of the net. With four substitutions in the second half, it took a while for the lads to get going again, but when they did it was back to business. Matthew Kempson scored from six yards when the opposition failed to clear a corner and then he turned provider when his cross was met with a fine header from Nick Duff to make it 6-1. Martin Janacek rounded off the scoring with ten minutes to play to seal a great win in their final match. The win guarantees a fourth place finish in the table as the lads move on to the senior side of the club.
On Sunday the 13th of April the lads will be playing a match at Dellwood Avenue against a team made up of dads and club coaches. After the match they will be holding their presentation and awards evening in the clubhouse.

Under 14’s Girls Gabby Swann’s 16th goal of the season was enough to ensure the teams shared the points in a 1-1 draw at home to Stowupland Falcons.
Under 15’s At home to top side Ransomes the boys fought well but were unlucky to lose out 1-0.
Under 15’s Girls No match for the girls this week.
Under 16’s The lads travelled to Framlingham Town on Thursday evening and returned with the points after a 1-0 win. The winning goal was scored by Robert Craig.

Matches played weekend 1st / 2nd March 2008
Under 8’s Away at local rivals, Kirton Kestrels the ‘A’s lost out 4-0 but the ‘B’s returned with three points after a 1-0 win. The ‘B’ team win lifts them up into 2nd place in the table.
Under 9’s The lads made the most of the visit to Dellwood Avenue of bottom side Claydon Sports. The ‘A’s recorded their biggest win of the season so far with an 8-1 mauling of the visitors. Four goals from Samuel Gilder who remarkably had not scored in a league match up to this point. A hat trick from Charlie Brown, which moves him onto 17 for the season, and another from Bradley Bullock sealed a comfortable victory.
The ‘B’s went a step better than the ‘A’s as they hit double figures for the second time this year. Their 12-0 victory included hat tricks for three players, Eddie Marshall, Callum Burrows, and Oliver Ruffles. Matthew Haskell hit two and Harley Barkes goal keeps him at the top of the scoring charts with his 18th of the campaign.
Under 10’s Away at Martlesham Youth, the lads’ poor run continues. The ‘A’s without a win since November lost out 2-0 and the ‘B’s are still looking for their first win of the campaign after their 3-0 loss.
Under 11’s At home to Martlesham, the ‘A’s are still looking for their first win of 2008. The ‘B’ team are another of our sides that have struggled in the top division and have yet to record a win this season. Both matches ended 3-0.
Under 12’s The boys travelled to East Bergholt for a match, which may have a huge bearing on their 1st division survival. The teams were just a point apart before the start of play with the home side in the second relegation place. With the wind behind them, the lads made the most of the conditions and when Sam Barber met Nathan Gould’s excellent cross; his glancing header put the seasiders in front. The rest of the half was a scrappy affair with neither side creating much. However, on the stroke of half time, the ball fell to Joe Coniam on the edge of the box and he struck the ball low and hard to double the lead. With the instructions to “keep it tight” ringing in their ears, the boys went out for the second half and, you’ve guessed it, they were pegged back to 2-2 within five minutes. A draw looked the only result as the game went into its final seconds. However, second half substitute, Joseph Welham had different plans as he fired the ball home on his debut to seal what could turn out to be a vital win. Final score 3-2.
Under 13’s The boys 3-1 win at home to Bourne Vale Hawks means they have gained seven points from their last three matches. Their latest win lifts them out of the relegation zone in their fight towards safety.
Under 14’s The lads scored three goals in a match for the first time this season in their match at home to Ipswich Royals. Unfortunately, the opposition scored ten. The lads have continued to battle against all the odds, but have yet to score a point.
Under 14’s Girls No match for the girls this week.
Under 15’s The lads travelled to top of the table Claydon Sports for the first match of a three-week run that sees them take on three of the top four sides. With honours even for the first twenty minutes, it was the home side that broke the deadlock as the lads failed to clear from a corner. They doubled their lead soon afterwards after William Fuller in the seasiders goal hesitated and the Claydon striker made it two. Just before the break, a through ball from Matthew Mackenzie found Liam Butcher whose deft chip beat the advancing keeper to give the lads a lifeline. The second half saw a few changes to try to unsettle the home side and the lads continued to press forward. Liam Butcher saw his 30-yard free kick rebound off the crossbar and when another of his shots hit the post and fell directly into the keepers hands; perhaps they knew it was not going to be their day. Late on Claydon hit a third goal to seal their victory 3-1.
Under 15’s Girls At home to second placed Boxford Rovers, the girls were looking for a better performance than when they lost out 8-1 when two teams met back in October. The visitors came out of the blocks the quickest and within a few minutes, they were 2-0 ahead. However, the seasiders hit back almost immediately through Leanne Lockwood to make it 2-1. Just before the interval, Boxford hit their third, but once again, the Leanne replied to keep them in the match at 3-2. Early on, in the second half, the visitors extended their lead but a long-range effort from Briley Coates gave the girls some hope. Unfortunately, Boxford then broke forward twice and stretched their lead to 6-3. Top scorer Madelaine Britton scored her 12th of the season (in just 13 matches), to narrow the margin before Boxford rounded of the day with another strike to leave the final score at 7-4.
Under 16’s Without a win in the league since November, the lads were determined not to let their chances slip away as they took on bottom side Sporting 87. However, with only 11 players fit and available the task was not going to be easy. Ten minutes into the match the lads were a goal down to what turned out to be the visitors only shot of the half. The team soon struck back with Nick Duff scoring his 12th of the season. Ten minutes later, it was 2-1 through Shaun Sadler and before the break Tom Copsey had made it 3-1 to give the lads some breathing space. Two more strikes early on in the second half by Lee Egerton and Tom Copsey sealed the win. Late on, Sporting had something to cheer as they scored a fantastic curling free kick, which left the keeper with no chance. Final score 5-2.

Matches played weekend 23rd /24th February 2008
Under 9’s Both of our under 9’s teams had qualified for their respective cup ¼ finals by finishing second in their Champions League style groups.
The A’s were at home to Chantry Grasshoppers who are currently heading the table in division two. In a close match, it was the seasiders who progressed to the semis with a 3-2 win. Two strikes from Aaron Bull and one from Callum Burrows set up a meeting with Woodbridge Town for a place in the final.
The B’s were also at home against division two opposition in the shape of Hadleigh United. Despite a goal from Matthew Haskell, the lads were unable to hold off their visitors who ran out 2-1 winners.
Under 13’s The lads were at home in the ¼ finals of the league cup, to top of the table side St Johns. In a closely contested match, they finished on the wrong end of a 3-4 score line. At this time, we do not have the details of the seasider’s scorers.
Under 14’s Girls Away at Waveney Girls in the league, the seasiders were looking for a change in fortune after two consecutive defeats by top of the table Woodbridge Town. After a good team move, Sophie Crane headed home to give the girls a well-deserved early lead. Emily Roper then broke through the Waveney defence to double the advantage as she slipped the ball past the onrushing keeper. By the interval, the lead was 3-0 when Sophie scored her second as she fired in a right-footed shot. In the second half, the girls seemed to take their foot of the gas and the visitors grabbed a goal back. However, our girls held on comfortably for the three points. Final score 3-1.
All our best wishes go out to the Waveney player who after a tackle involving Mischa McGlynn was taken to hospital with a broken arm; we all wish her a speedy recovery.
Under 15’s The boys booked their first ever cup semi-final place with a victory over second placed and unbeaten Ransomes. As expected, the visitors attacked straight from the kick off and only some great defending kept them at bay. However try as they might, eventually the visitors broke them down and they took two chances in quick succession to take a 2-0 lead. With time running out in the first half, two corners provided the opportunities that the seasiders needed. The first was headed home from the edge of the box by Matthew Mackenzie and then minutes later on the stroke of half time; the second was headed in by Liam Butcher. With their tails up, the lads went into the second half full of confidence and dominated the play. Ransomes for their part defended resolutely and neither side was able to find the goal to seal the tie.
The first period of extra time followed a similar pattern with the seasiders attacking and Ransomes keeping them at bay. Eventually the deadlock was broken when Matthew Mackenzie passed the ball through to Matthew Soper who fired the ball home. Ransomes piled everyone forward in the latter stages to try and force n equaliser but the lads held on well to secure their place in the semi finals where they will meet Woodbridge Town.
Under 16’s The lads travelled to Bildeston Rangers in their plate ¼ final. An indifferent performance and three basic errors in the first half hour resulted in three goals for the home side. Although the lads did pull a goal back on the brink of half time through Nick Duff after a good run from Tom Greeves. The second half saw the seasiders play some better football but to their credit, Bildeston defended well and were worthy winners. Final score 1-3.

Under 8’s No match for the 8’s this week.
Under 9’s No match for the 9’s this week.
Under 10’s No match for the 10’s this week.
Under 11’s With the Seasiders in the bottom reaches of the table, a trip to Woodbridge Town to play teams that were 20+ points and eight places above them was a daunting prospect. However, the lads put up a great fight and although neither side returned with points, the 0-2 and 0-1 score lines were a credit to all of the hard work they put in.
Under 12’s With the visitors, Kesgrave Kestrels five places above the Seasiders before the start of play they started as favourites. Although when the two teams met back in October, our lads did give them a bit of a fright in a match that the Kestrels narrowly won 3-2. Unfortunately, the only similarity in this match, were the names of the teams competing. The visitors were off the mark early on and the boys had no answer to their pace, play or finishing, by half time they were seven nil ahead and cruising. Our lads rallied in the second period and kept the score line down but Kesgrave ended as comfortable 10-0 victors. The result was the team’s worst ever defeat.
Under 13’s Away from home against Tornadoes, the match was bound to be a close affair. The two sides were in fourth and fifth place in the table with the Seasiders holding the slight advantage. The lads started well and a goal from Luke Turner, (his 30th of the season in just 23 matches), gave them the lead. It looked as if the single strike would settle the match, but late on in added time, the home side snatched an equaliser and the teams shared the points.
Under 14’s No match for the 14’s this week.
Under 14’s Girls No information from the girls match but I can report that they lost out 1-6 at home to second placed Woodbridge Town.
Under 15’s After their poor performance the previous weekend, the lads were determined to hit back in their home match against second from bottom Brantham Athletic. Unfortunately, a nervous start allowed the visitors to split the defence open and the Brantham striker finished well to give them the lead. The lads struck back after some neat work in midfield between Jamal Wiggins and George Kemp. Their good play ended with a through ball to Matthew Mackenzie who took his chance to level the scores and keep up his goal a game average for the season. However, before the interval the visitors were back ahead when a 30-yard free kick dropped into the seasiders penalty area. New central defender, Dale Watling making his debut, tried to hook the ball away and unfortunately steered the ball into his own net.
Some stern words and a few changes at half time saw a different side emerge for the second half. In defence, Dale Watling had gotten over his early nerves and started to clear up any Brantham moves that made it through the midfield. He also nearly scored from a corner. As the lads pushed forward, they made chance after chance and before long; Matthew Soper had levelled the scores. Charles Gosling rounded off a terrific personal performance as he made it 3-2 when he latched onto a loose ball in the area. Before the final whistle, Matthew Soper made it 4-2 and sealed the win when he finished off a slick six-man move, which took the ball from box to box with some great one touch football.
Under 15’s Girls With the two sides separated by just two points in the league, the girls travelled to Ipswich to play a cup match against Copleston Sports Club. An epic match ensued with lead changing hands several times; the girls were desperately unlucky to finish on the wrong end of a 5-4 score line for the second time this season. The goals came from Rosie Bird, Madelaine Britton, Josie Haward and Leanne Lockwood. The goal by Leanne her 27th means she has now equalled the club record for our girls teams.
Under 16’s No match for the 16’s this week.
This Saturday the boys are in ¼ final Cup action:
The under 13’s are at home to league leaders St Johns Youth.
The under 15’s are at home to 2nd placed Ransomes.
The under 16’s are away against 1st division Bildeston Rangers.

Matches played weekend 2nd /3rd February 2008
Under 8’s The ‘A’s remain just above their close rivals Trimley Red Devils after a 1-1 draw at Dellwood Avenue. Matthew Tetley with his first league goal for the club secured a valuable point. The ‘B’ team made it four league wins on the bounce with a double over the Red Devils. Having won 1-0 back in September, the lads, and lass consolidated their third place in the table with a 3-1 victory. Two strikes from top scorer Samuel Clarkson and one from Benjamin Barkes were enough to ensure the win.
Under 9’s
The 9’s entertained Framlingham Town and the ‘A’s overturned a 2-0
loss earlier in the season. The points from their 3-1 win lift them clear of the
relegation places.
The ‘B’s stay in a safe fourth place following their 7-1 defeat at the
hands of the league leaders.
Under 10’s The ‘A’ team went down 3-0 to third placed Ransomes whilst the ‘B’s 2-0 defeat means that they are still looking for their first win of the campaign.
Under 11’s At home to Kesgrave Kestrels both teams were on the wrong end of a fine performance from the visitors. The ‘A’s went down 0-5 and the ‘B’s 0-8.
Under 12’s After eight consecutive losses, the boys travelled to bottom placed Holbrook Hornets in a vital six pointer. Having gone behind to an early goal, the boys struck back three times through Tony Hitchin, William Jewkes and Joe Coniam to leave the half time score at 3-1. The second half was a torrid affair with the two teams sharing ten goals. Tony and Joe grabbed another each and “The Nugget” Sam Newman scored his first hat-trick of the season. The 8-6 win moves the lads out of the relegation places with six games left.
Under 13’s After their 12-2 win last week it was down to earth with a bump, as they lost out 5-0 to a Bramford United side that were just one place above them in the league. After having the bulk of the possession in the first period, Bramford scored their first on the break. The second half followed a similar pattern; another breakaway goal following a seasiders attack hit the boys hard when they had played so well. Three further goals late on sealed the match for the visitors. Despite the loss, the lads are still in fourth place in the table.
Under 14’s For the fifteenth time this season the lads lost out, this time to a St Johns side who are fourth in the league. The 7-1 loss leaves the lads firmly at the bottom of the table with nine matches left to play.
Under 14’s Girls The girls 2-2 draw away at third placed Cornard Dynamos means they stay in seventh place but on level points with the two sides above them.
Under 15’s A poor first half performance from the seasiders saw the visitors Kirton Kestrels dominate the play but without scoring a goal. The second half started with the lads still not playing at their best and this time Kirton took advantage. Three goals from the visitors more or less finished the match as a contest. However, late on Liam Butcher was upended in the penalty area for the second week running and George McCallum scored from the spot. Sam Read’s header hit the bar in the dying moments but the visitors made the short trip home with all three points.
Under 15’s Girls The girls moved out of the bottom two with a win over bottom side Framlingham Town. In an evenly contested first half, the girls took the advantage just before the break when Leanne Lockwood pounced on a defensive mistake to give the girls the lead. Two more goals in the second half completed Leanne’s hat trick, the third of which was a strike from the top drawer. A late consolation was all Framlingham could muster and the three points went to the seasiders.
Under 16’s Travelling to play Witnesham Wasps, the lads went down for the third successive match by the odd goal. In a tight match with few chances it was the home side that took their opportunity and held on for a 1-0 win. The 16’s have lost out six times by a one goal margin this season, the difference between the top of the league and mid table is a fine line.

Under 8’s No match for the lads this week.
Under 9’s No match for the lads this week.
Under 10’s The boys entertained fellow strugglers East Bergholt; in the ‘A’ game, they shared the points in a 1-1 draw. The ‘B’s lost out 2-3.
Under 11’s Away at mid-table Shotley Rangers, the ‘A’s lost out by the narrowest of margins 1-0, whereas the ‘B’s earned point with a 2-2- draw.
Under 12’s Dominating the first half, the lads looked to have the beating of the visitors Witnesham Wasps. However, it is goals that win matches not possession, and all the lads had to show for their terrific efforts was a single goal scored just before the interval, courtesy of a fine strike from George Connor. The second half saw a strong Witnesham side get back into the match and they soon levelled the scores. The seasiders kept their heads up and kept plugging away trying for a winner, but two late strikes from the visitors stole away their chance of the points. Final score 1-3.
Under 13’s Away at bottom side Witnesham Wasps, the lads equalled their best result of the season when they ran out 12-2 winners. Details of the scorers to follow.
Under 14’s Still looking for that elusive first win of the season, the lads travelled to Kesgrave Kestrels with optimism. Unfortunately, they retuned with only a goal to show for their efforts as they lost out 1-6.
Under 14’s Girls The girl’s match this week was cancelled as the goals at Coronation Park had been vandalised.
Under 15’s The lads kept up their prospects for a top half finish with a 2-1 win over ninth placed Kesgrave Kestrels. After a good start, they had all the play but no reward for their efforts with the Kestrels keeper denying them on several occasions. Eventually Liam Butcher, on another of his runs into the box was adjudged to have been brought down and George McCallum swiftly dispatched the resultant penalty. Kesgrave were sparked into life and the seasiders were on the back foot for the rest of the half. They were nearly undone by a back pass, as keeper Will Fuller swung his right foot at the ball and missed completely. His luck was in, as the pass was underweight and he was able to scramble back and clear the ball away. After the break, the visitors continued to attack but it was our lads who made the next breakthrough. On a counter attacking move, Matthew Mackenzie’s pass found Liam Butcher out wide and his strike left the keeper with no chance. Kesgrave did manage a goal late on which gave the team and the spectators a nervous last few minutes but the boys held on for the three points. Final score 2-1.
Under 15’s Girls Away from home at league leaders Debenham the girls started well and ten minutes into the match found themselves a goal up as Madelaine Britton made it 10 goals in 10 matches since she joined at the start of the season. The girls hung onto their lead until after the interval but in an effort to stretch their lead were caught on the break. As the match wore on, Debenham’s strength started to show and by the end of the game they finished as comfortable 5-1 winners.
Under 16’s No match for the 16’s this week.

Matches played weekend 19th /20th January 2008
With last weekends weather playing havoc with the fixtures, only a handful of matches took place. Only three of the Seasider’s teams were in action.
Under 12’s With the visitors Trimley Red Devils sitting on top of the table and 10 places above our lads, the driving rain was not the only thing that made it a tough morning at Langley Avenue. Conceding early goals has been a feature of the seasider’s matches recently and unfortunately, this match was no different. Two down in five minutes meant that the game was always going to be difficult and a damage limitation operation was needed. Despite having a good deal of the possession, the boys could not create any chances and the visitors scored twice more. Just before the break, Sam Newman was put through and he calmly rounded the keeper to score his sixth of the season. A better second half performance saw the lads concede just a single goal to leave the final score at 1-5.
Despite the result, the match saw a landmark for Daniel Long as he became the first player in the team to reach his 100th game for the club.
Under 15’s With only a single place separating the two sides at the start of play, the match at home to Wickham Market was likely to be close. The early exchanges were predominantly in the Wickham half, as the lads pressed forward and created several chances. Bizarrely a good Felixstowe move resulted in the first goal but it was the visitors who scored. A cross from Charles Gosling rebounded off the crossbar to Matthew Mackenzie, his shot struck a defender, and from the resultant clearance, the Wickham striker took his opportunity and slipped the ball past the keeper for a surprise lead. After a period of further pressure, Matthew Mackenzie found himself in a scoring position only to be upended; George McCallum stepped up and scored from the penalty spot to level the scores. The second half continued in a similar vein but with neither side able to add to the score line, to leave the final score 1-1.
The match also saw the 150th appearance for the seasiders by George Kemp; he is the 9th player in this age group to achieve this landmark.
Under 16’s For the sixth time this season, the lads were on the receiving end of a match that was decided by a single goal. Their 3-2 defeat at the hands of Wickham Market leaves the lads in fourth place in the table. Having gone two nil down after 25 mins, the seasiders were back in the game when Shuan Sadler scored from the edge of the box with a well hit shot. Ten minutes into the second half, it was all square when top scorer, Nick Duff slid in his 10th of the campaign. A draw looked on the cards until late on when a cross in from the left flank at point blank range, struck the hand of right back, Liam Wainwright. Despite the fact that it was clearly ball to hand and he had no chance of getting out of the way, the home referee awarded the penalty. Declan O’Brien in the seasider’s goal who had earlier made some incredible saves, almost got to the ball but it squeezed under him to give the home side the three points. Final score 2-3.

Under 8’s
The ‘A’ team lost out 1-0 at home to Kirton Kestrels.
The ‘B’s won 2-1.
Under 9’s No match for the 9’s this week.
Under 10’s No match for the 10’s this week.
Under 11’s No match for the 11’s this week.
Under 12’s The visitors Witnesham Wasps were just two places above the lads in the league, so the match in this year’s cup competition promised a close affair. The seasiders took an early lead when Sam Newman’s shot was parried by the keeper only for Joe Coniam to tap home. Unfortunately, within five minutes, the visitors were back in contention and the score remained unchanged until halftime. Two breakaways early in the second period resulted in two goals for Witnesham and the lads were devastated. They did get back into the match late on through a goal from Ricco Dimascio but it was too little too late. Final score 2-3.
Under 13’s No match for the 13’s this week.
Under 14’s In the cup, the lads lost out 1-3 against Wetherden & Haughley.
Under 14’s Girls With just three points separating the two sides before the start of play, a tight match was always on the cards as the girls travelled to Copleston. The home side took the lead when they bundled the ball over the line from a corner, but they could not capitalise as the seasiders fought back and levelled before half time. Abigail Jewkes fired the girls back into the game with a terrific volley from the edge of the penalty area. The second half began in a similar fashion to the first with both sides creating chances, but once again, it was Copleston who nosed in front. Undeterred, the girls continued to push forward and when Sophie Crane’s long rang effort rebounded off the bar, Eleanor Addison was on hand to poke the ball home for her first ever goal for the club. Final score 2-2.
Under 15’s No match for the 15’s this week.
Under 15’s Girls Having lost out 4-5 and 1-6 already this season to the visitors, Woodbridge Town started as favourites for the match at Coronation Park. In a very closely fought first half, it was a simple tap in by seasider, Rosie Bird that separated the teams at the interval. Immediately after the restart, Woodbridge equalised with a free kick before Jenny Arroud’s long-range shot deflected over the helpless keeper to restore the advantage. With 15 minutes to play, top scorer Madelaine Britton slipped the ball underneath the approaching keeper to put the girls 3-1 ahead. The final few minutes saw the visitors snatch a late consolation goal but it could not diminish what was a great performance from the whole of the Felixstowe team. Final score 3-2.

Matches played weekend 5th /6th January 2008
Under 8’s No match for the 8’s this week.
Under 9’s After the three-week Christmas break, the teams were away from home at top of the table Woodbridge Town. In the ‘A’ game with only the bare minimum seven players the boys fought hard but lost out 1-4. The seasider’s goal being scored by Bradley Bullock.
In the ‘B’ game, Matthew Haskell’s strike and an own goal were not enough to see off a tough Woodbridge team who ran out 5-2 winners.
Under 10’s Also away from home and against top of the table St Johns, the teams lost out 4-0 and 12-0.
Under 11’s In a battle for survival at the bottom of the league, the boys were at home to Claydon Sports. The ‘A’s lost out 0-2, but the ‘B’s managed a 1-1 draw.
Under 12’s Against a Woodbridge Town side that were 20 points and seven places above them in the table before the match. The boys started well and took the lead after a great individual goal from Sam Barber. However when the Woodbridge team became organized they soon struck back with three goals before the interval. Despite some heroic goalkeeping from stand in Tony Hitchin, the seasiders defence were poor and three more goals followed in the second half. A late strike from Nathan Gould brought the scores closer, but the boys will have to defend better if they want to climb away from the relegation zone.
Under 13’s After eight successive league wins, the boys fantastic run finally ended away from home against St Johns. The 0-6 score line proved why St Johns had not lost a match since their opening game of the season.
Under 14’s Unfortunately, the lads started 2008 just as they had finished 2007. Their 8-0 loss at home to Claydon Sports, means they are still looking for their first points of the season.
Under 14’s Girls The girls made their first foray into the cup this season with a visit from Brandon Lasses. Having drawn 0-0 and lost 4-2 to their opposition in the league the game was likely to be a close affair. The visitors took the lead early on, capitalising on a mistake in defence but the girls soon fought back and were unlucky not to equalise with Gabby Swann and Sophie Crane going close. Against the run of play, Brandon then scored a second before Sophie Crane pulled a goal back with a 20-yard strike just before half time. The second half was all Felixstowe with Emily Roper running the midfield and chance after chance being cleared off the Brandon goal line. With ten minutes to play, the killer punch came when a deflected shot found its way in and the game was lost. Out of the cup but a terrific performance from the whole team.
Under 15’s No match for the 15’s this week.
Under 15’s Girls No details of the girls match this week.
Under 16’s At home to Framlingham Town, the lads lost out by the narrowest of margins for the fourth time this season. The visitors scored midway through the first half and try as they might the lads could not break down the solid Fram defence. Still in mid table, what a difference a couple of goals would make to their season.

Matches played weekend 8th /9th December 2007
Under 8’s No results as yet from the 8’s.
Under 9’s A’s lost out 4-0 at home to Witnesham Wasps. ‘B’s lost out 4-1.
Under 10’s No matches for the 10’s this week.
Under 11’s On a very cold morning, the boys entertained Brantham Athletic at Dellwood Avenue. Coming in to December, the ‘A’s were still looking for their first win of the season. However, the festive season seems to suit them as they recorded their second win on the bounce. Once again, it was by the odd goal and this week the scorer was Charlie Kensworthy. The result was a reverse of the away game back in October.
The ‘B’s tried their hardest once again and could not be faulted for the effort that they put in. Their only reward was a late consolation goal from Liam Lacey as they lost out 1-3.
Under 12’s Having lost out 6-0 in the corresponding away fixture earlier in the season, hopes were not high as the boys welcomed local rivals Felixstowe Hawks to Langley Avenue. Two first half strikes gave the visitors the advantage at the break however; the second period was a much closer affair. Despite conceding a third goal the Seasiders continued to press forward and they played some excellent football. Their consolation came when Matthew Pipe crossed the ball into fellow sub Joe Coniam, whose quality header found the back of the net. Although the boys did not come away with any points from the game, they did themselves proud with their performance. Final score 1-3.
Under 13’s Away at Wickham Market, for most of the first half, the lads ran riot through the home defence. The opening goal came from Jesse Kewn and was followed soon afterwards by a cross come shot by Luke Howard that ended in the top corner of the net. Jordan Youngs scoring in his seventh consecutive match made it three and just before the break, Luke Turner nearly broke the net to make it 4-0. The second period continued in a similar vein when Jordan calmly slotted home his second of the day and Jesse followed suit immediately after. The final goal came after Luke Turner was brought down in the penalty area and Ben Hunt slotted home the penalty to round of a great performance. The win gave the boys their ninth win on the trot and the only downside was late on when the chance of a clean sheet disappeared as the opposition grabbed a consolation goal. Final score 7-1.
Under 14’s At home to fifth placed Sizewell & Knodishall, the lads came so close once again to securing their first points of the season. Unfortunately, it was not to be and Luke Fountain’s goal was not enough as the lads lost out 2-1.
Under 14’s Girls With no substitutes, the girls made the trip over to Bury St Edmunds with only nine players and quite a task in front of them. However, they took an early lead through Mischa McGlynn whose run from midfield was well finished. Unfortunately, the lead was not to last as the home side threw everything forward and drew level. The girls did well to absorb the pressure until half time and they went into the second half with renewed optimism. Just after the restart, Bury took the lead when a mix up in the Seasiders defence left the Bury striker free to slot the ball home. The girls refused to give in and not for the first time this season, Gabby Swann was on hand to pull the teams level. Again, Bury pushed for a winner and only some stout defending from the Seasiders back line kept them out. It would be Sophie Crane who settled the match when she hit them on the break and slid the ball through the keeper’s legs to seal a well-deserved 3-2 win. The girls have now picked up 13 points from a possible 15 in their last five matches.
Under 15’s No match for the lads this week.
Under 15’s Girls No details of the girls match against Boxford Rovers this week
Under 16’s Needing a win to keep up their challenge at the top of the table the lads entertained Brantham Athletic at Langley Avenue. In a not entirely convincing first half performance, the lads had the better of the chances, but it was the visitors who went into the interval one up. The second half was the most one sided half of football I have ever witnessed without seeing a goal. The Seasiders pressed from the outset, closing down every Brantham move and attacking constantly. The woodwork was hit four times, corners produced at least five goal line clearances from the defenders, and the visiting keeper either was international standard or just plain lucky. However, it was not to be for the lads and they could have played on for two hours and they still would not have scored it just was not going to be their day. Final score 0-1.

Matches played weekend 1st /2nd December 2007
Under 8’s ‘A’s lost 5-1 at home to Martlesham; ‘B’s lost 2-0.
Under 9’s In the second of their Group Cup matches, the boys travelled to play an unbeaten St Johns side who are top of Division Two. A close match ensued with very few chances on goal for either side. With no score at halftime, the second period followed a similar pattern and the closest either side came to scoring was in the final few minutes when Charlie Brown’s shot skimmed the St Johns post. Final score 0-0.
Having won 9-0 the previous week the boys never got out of the starting blocks against a good St Johns team. 2-0 down at half time the boys did create some chances but when the home side scored a third in the second half it was game over. Final score 3-0.
Under 10’s ‘A’s lost 1-0 at home to Witnesham; ‘B’s lost 4-0.
Under 11’s A first win of the season for the ‘A’s as they travelled to near neighbours Kirton Kestrels. Chance after chance came the seasiders way during the match but without someone to fire home, the boys looked to be heading for a single point. However, with just four minutes left to play Jordan White scored a valuable goal, which now pulls the boys clear of the relegation zone. Final score 1-0.
In the ‘B’ game, Charlie Wilson’s goal just before halftime levelled the scores after Kirton had scored early on, but the boys could not find the winner, which would also have lifted them, clear of the drop zone. Final score 1-1.
Under 12’s With only one win since the opening day of the season, the last thing the lads needed was a visit to the unbeaten league leaders St Johns. However, the boys started well and within 10 minutes they were a goal up through Ricco Dimascio, they continued to play well, and for the next ten minutes were good value for their lead. Unfortunately, two goals in two minutes allowed the opposition back into the game. The boys held them off for the remainder of the half but as the second period started, the St Johns striker used his pace to rip through the seasiders defence, and in ten minutes had scored a hat trick. A sixth goal for the home side followed to leave the final score 6-1.
Under 13’s The lads extended their winning run to nine matches with a 4-1 win over local rivals Kirton Kestrels. Against the wind in the first half, the boys took the lead after twenty minutes when Ben Bullock headed in from a set piece. Just before half time, the visitors hit back with a wind assisted effort that sailed over the head of stand in keeper Hunter Elliston. Four subs after the break included Luke Turner who in no time had added the second seasiders goal. Kirton then began to tire and Jordan Youngs scored for the sixth week running from the edge of the box to increase the lead. Captain Lee Dawson up against his former team tapped in a fourth to seal the three points. In their last eight matches, the boys have averaged 6 goals a match. Final score 4-1.
Under 14’s
The lads travelled to Whitton United still looking for their first points
of the season. They returned once again with nothing to show for all their
effort and hard work but with their pride intact as they battled away right
until the final whistle. Final score 0-2.
The match saw Lawrence Gregory play his 150th match for
the seasiders he has scored 30 goals.
Under 14’s Girls At home to a Witnesham Wasps side who won the corresponding away fixture back in September, the girls had their work cut out in the difficult windy conditions. It was the visitors who took advantage of a seasiders mistake and when a long range shot hit the bar and bounced in off the back of the Felixstowe keeper things looked bleak. Just before the break, Sophie Crane’s shot from wide left was fumbled into her goal by the Witnesham keeper and the girls were back in the game. With the wind at their backs in the second half, the girls pressed forward and a neat pass from Abigail Jewkes was slotted home by Gabby Swann to level the scores. The seasiders continued to press for a winner but the goal would not come and at the final whistle both sides were happy with a point each. Final score 2-2.
Under 15’s
With three top players not available and only one sub, it was not the best time
to be playing an away game against unbeaten Ransomes. Up against the lads were
two former seasiders, Jordan Warne and Declan Harvey, which would add a bit of
extra spice to the match. With a heavily reshuffled side, the boys did well to
hold the opposition at bay with some excellent defending, and they even created
a few chances for themselves. With the first half coming to an end, Ransomes
were fortunate to grab a soft goal and go into the break 1-0 up. The second half
was a different affair with the seasiders winning the battle in the midfield
creating chances for the strikers. Against all the run of play Ransomes broke
through and despite two fantastic reaction saves from William Fuller in the
seasiders goal the home side went two up. As time ran out man of the match,
Jamal Wiggins produced a goal out of nowhere when he beat two players and lashed
the ball into the net from 25 yards out. In a nervous few minutes of added time
for Ransomes, Sam Boggis nearly headed home a George McCallum free kick to
snatch a point. However the home side held on to win what was a cracking game of
football. Final score 2-1.
The match saw Matthew Soper play his 150th match for
the seasiders he has scored 27 goals.

Matches played weekend 24th /25th November 2007
Under 8’s Having not played a competitive match for a month, the boys travelled to unbeaten, and Orwell league leaders Witnesham Wasps for the third of their group cup matches. The ‘A’s were well-beaten 8-0, however, the ‘B’s were unlucky to lose out by just 1-0.
Under 9’s The lads played the first of their champions league style cup matches at home to Claydon Youth. Charlie Brown quickly got the scoring underway in the ‘A’ game and minutes later, it was 2-0 when Sam Gilder fired in a terrific volley. After the break, Charlie scored twice in five minutes to record his second hat trick of the campaign and when Aaron Bull finished from a great one-two with Callum Burrows the final score was 5-0. Keeper Oliver Rose and his defence have still yet to concede a goal at home this year.
Not to be outdone, the ‘B’ team also started quickly and Oliver Ruffles soon had them in the lead. Two goals from Harley Barkes were followed by a strike from Harry Stanbridge before Harley completed his hat trick just before the interval. It was business as usual after the break as Connor Sorhaindo added the sixth, and Matthew Haskell quickly made it seven. Harry Stanbridge then scored his second of the game before Oliver ruffles who started the scoring in the first half rounded off the match with his second and the team’s ninth. The 9-0 score line was the ‘B’ team’s best result since their opening match last season against Kesgrave, which also finished 9-0.
Under 10’s ‘A’s drew 0-0 at AFC Kesgrave. ‘B’s lost 1-6.
Under 11’s With both the ‘A’ & ‘B’ teams having only one point each this season from their previous eight matches. The last thing the lads needed was a visit from the league leaders St Johns. In the ‘A’, game the boys were unlucky to lose out by the odd goal for the fourth time this year, with Matthew Bury grabbing the goal. Final score 1-2.
The ‘B’ team lads battled well but lost out 0-4.
Under 12’s The boys made the short trip across the A14 to play their local rivals Kirton Kestrels and soon took the lead through Sam Newman. A quick reply from the home side was followed by an unusual decision from the home linesman. After not flagging for offside as Sam Newman added his second goal, he seemed to change his mind and the referee disallowed the goal. The decision appeared to affect the seasiders rhythm and they never got back into their stride. The home side then capitalised, and added three more goals to secure the three points, and leapfrog the seasiders in the table. Final score 1-4.
Under 13’s With some key players not available through illness and injury, the boys welcomed Claydon Youth to Langley Avenue. A slow start allowed the visitors to take the lead early on, but eventually the lads got into their stride and two through balls from Ben Bullock and Ben Hunt set up Jordan Youngs who despatched both into the back of the net. Claydon pulled themselves level just before half time, after the seasiders defence failed to clear a corner. The second half saw the boys take the lead again when David Henshaw slotted home Jesse Kewn’s cross at the far post. Once again, Claydon hit back but the points were secured when Ben Bullock timed his run superbly and tucked the ball past the advancing keeper. Final score 4-3.
Under 14’s The 14’s quest for their first points of the season continues after their match with Witnesham Wasps. Having gone 3-0 behind Terry Dean, hit back for the seasiders before the visitors sealed the win early in the second half. Final score 1-4.
Under 14’s Girls Playing against a fierce wind away at Bacton, the girls started well. With ten minutes played, Abby Jewkes fed the ball through to Gabby Swann whose left foot strike gave the keeper no chance. Midway through the half, the girls hit Bacton on the counter attack, and it was Abby who was on hand to double the girls advantage. A well taken free kick from the edge of the box gave the visitors a glint of hope, but when five minutes later, Mischa McGlynn lobbed the keeper to restore the two goal lead, the match was won. Final score 3-1.
Under 15’s With the visitors Bacton only able to field 10 players, the boys needed be ruthless and make the most of their advantage. However, a very slow start meant that the visitors had the best chances to score early on. When they finally got their act, together the boys produced the sort of football they are capable off and the goals came. Sam Read who is on great form at the moment set up the first two goals with excellent passes through to Matthew Soper and George Kemp. Matthew Mackenzie was also soon in on the act with his brace coming from a Liam Butcher cross and a pinpoint corner from Charles Gosling. Before being substituted at half time, as he had to leave for a school rugby match, George Kemp added his second and the teams fifth. Liam Butcher scoring for the third week in a row added a sixth and final goal in the second half. Credit should also go to the Bacton lads who despite being a man and six goals down, never gave up for the full 80 minutes.

Under 12’s In a break from league action, the boys welcomed fellow division one side East Bergholt to Langley Avenue for their 2nd round Cup match. Having beaten the visitors 6-2, two weeks previously in the league, the lads were confident of a repeat performance. The boys started well, and went in at the interval one up after a good move involving four players resulted in a goal for Sam Barber. In the second half, the lads seemed to switch off, and within two minutes, they were 2-1 down after the opposition pumped long balls forward over the defence. The seasiders got back into the match when Josh Corbett headed home a Sam Barber free kick, but as time ran out neither side could find a winner. Extra time saw no further score so penalties loomed. When the seasiders missed their first spot kick the pressure was on but the lads from Bergholt kept their nerve and scored all five to take the win. Final score 2-2, East Bergholt won 5-4 on penalties.
Under 13’s Having already disposed of division one side Witnesham in the first round, the lads from division two side Debenham were looking forward to taking the scalp when our lads made the trip out into the country. Starting strongly the home side forced the seasiders keeper George Burch into several good saves early on; however, a dipping shot from Lee Dawson soon put the lads ahead. A mix up between two of our players let the home side back into the match but before half time, David Henshaw popped up at the far post to restore the advantage. The second period was all Felixstowe, James Shenfield was unlucky when his header crashed against the crossbar but two goals from Luke Howard and Jordan Youngs put the seal on a comfortable win. Final score 4-1. Next up is a ¼ final against top side St Johns.
Under 14’s No match for the 14’s this week.
Under 14’s Girls On a bitterly cold and very windy Sunday afternoon, the girls welcomed Bury Town ‘A’ to Coronation Park. Having won last time out the girls were keen to put in another good performance in extremely difficult conditions. With the wind behind them in the first half, the girls made the most of the advantage and took the lead early on when Emily Roper’s through ball was finished well by Sophie Crane. It was soon 2-0 after Abby Jewkes’s shot rebounded to Sammy Jo Hobson who scored her first league goal for the team. Mischa McGlynn made a great individual run, which culminated in her taking it round the keeper to make it three, and just afterwards, Emily Roper lobbed the keeper to make it four. Sub Gabby Swann came on and made it 5-0 and Sophie Crane then rounded off the first half with her second to make the half time score 6-0. All credit to Bury, who with the wind behind them in the second half defended superbly and prevented any further score. At the other end seasiders keeper Hannah Emery was in fantastic form to keep the visitors at bay and deserved her clean sheet.
Under 15’s With the visitors Framlingham Town sitting in mid-table in division two, the lads seemed to take things easy in the opening minutes and were punished when they went a goal behind. The goal did the trick and focused the boys minds on the job in hand, and they started to play some decent football. By half time, they were 3-1 up with Sam Read scoring twice and Matthew Soper adding the other. The second period was a better team performance with the boys playing well, Liam Butcher scored the team’s fourth and Matthew Mackenzie rounded off the scoring late on. Final score 5-1. The boys will now look forward to their ¼ final against Ransomes.
Under 15’s Girls No report from the girls this week.
Under 16’s No match for the 16’s this week.
On behalf of Alex Craig’s family and the under 16’s, I would like to thank all the junior managers and teams for showing their respects with a minutes silence at last weekends matches.
Roy Kempson.

1964-2007
Regretfully last week Alex who was our clubs under 16’s manager, lost his brave
fight against cancer.
Born in Dundee, Alex grew up with a passion for football and after playing for
his school and local team Grove F C, his work eventually brought him south to
Felixstowe.
His connection with our club began when his son Robert aged five, joined what was then Walton United. Alex together with Martin Lee, volunteered to run the team, and after the club’s amalgamation with Felixstowe Town, he ran the side for the next eight years in partnership with myself.
In the ten years he was involved with the team, the boy’s had their fair share of success, but win or lose Alex always insisted that the boys played football fairly and with the right attitude. His insistence that the boys respect their opponents, the match officials, and each other was a valuable lesson in life for all of the lads. In all of the time that Alex was in charge, the boys never picked up a red or yellow card and last season they won the league’s Fair Play trophy.
Despite his usual quiet demeanour, Alex’s passion for football would sometimes take over on match days. Like his namesake and fellow Scot at Manchester United, Alex could also resort to the ‘hairdryer’ treatment at half time, if the lads were not putting in 100% effort. As friends, we never exchanged a single harsh word and as a coach, he stood right beside me through both the good and the bad times.
Although his life was cut short, Alex made a huge impact on the lives of everyone who knew him and I know that when our lads walk out onto the pitch each week, he will still be there kicking every ball with them as usual.
Alex was a genuinely nice man who always had a good word for everyone. His funeral last week was testament to that fact, with the church overflowing with his family, friends, work colleagues, as well as the boys from his team.
As a father, his lads Robert and Scott are a real credit to him, and the arrival of Dawn and her girls into his life in recent years brought out a lighter side of Alex that had too often taken a back seat in previous years. Our thoughts are with all his family and friends at this time.

Under 8’s No match for the 8’s this week.
Under 9’s No details of their match this week but the ‘A’s drew 3-3 at Claydon Sports and the ‘B’s 6-1 win, moves them up in to fourth place.
Under 10’s No details of the matches this week but the ‘A’s won 3-2 at home to Martlesham 747’s. Unfortunately, the ‘B’s lost out 0-3.
Under 11’s The boys travelled to Martlesham to take on the Meteors and despite putting up a good showing they were unable to come away with points in either match. The ‘A’s losing out 3-1 with the seasiders goal scored by Jordan White, and the ‘B’s lost 3-0.
Under 12’s The lads were at home to fellow strugglers East Bergholt. The first half was a mainly scrappy affair with the only piece of good football resulting in a goal for the seasiders. A through ball from Josh Corbett found Sam Newman who struck the ball home from the edge of the penalty area. The second half saw some much better football from both sides and the boys soon stretched their lead with goals from Joe Coniam and George Connor. Bergholt then got a goal back, before substitute Nathan Gould restored the three-goal advantage. Fellow sub William Jewkes then made it 5-1 before Bergholt scored their second. Then with a few minutes left to play Joe Coniam scored his second and the seasiders sixth to round off the match. The win sees the boys move up to eighth in the table. Final score 6-2.
Sam “Nugget” Newman reached a landmark with his goal this week. He has now scored 100 goals for the club in only 89 appearances.
Under 13’s Having beaten Bourne Vale Hawks 4-0 at home in a pre-season friendly the lads were hopeful of a repeat performance when they travelled away for their first league encounter. First half goals from Jesse Kewn and Jordan Youngs gave the lads the start they needed. Three subs at half time with fresh legs ensured that the momentum continued after the break. Luke Turner’s unstoppable shot made it three nil and when Jake Green crossed the ball in from the wing Luke Howard made it four. Jake Green then added the fifth before Bourne Vale managed a consolation goal just before full time. Final score 5-1.
Under 14’s No details of their match this week but the boys lost out 5-2 at Ipswich Royals.
Under 14’s Girls No details of the girls match this week. A terrific 8-0 win, over Waveney Girls FC.
Under 15’s Before the start of play, just one point separated the two sides with Claydon just ahead. It was the visitors who got the better of the early exchanges and they took the lead with a well-taken goal. With the seasiders defence looking a bit out of sorts a reshuffle ensued and the team took on a more balanced appearance. After the interval Matthew Mackenzie received a through ball from Nick Wilding, he beat a defender, and his hard low shot was too hot for the keeper to handle as it was fumbled over the goal line. Soon afterwards George Kemp let rip with a 25-yard effort which screamed in to the top corner of the Claydon net to give the lads the lead. In a very entertaining match the visitors levelled the score and both sides continued to strive for the winning goal. At the end of the game the scores remained all square and realistically neither team deserved to lose. Final score 2-2.
Under 15’s Girls No details but the girls lost out 6-1 to the league leaders Woodbridge Town.
Under 16’s The lads travelled out to Bury St Edmunds to play bottom side Sporting 87. In the first half the seasiders gave the opposition far too much room and allowed them to play some good football, the boys created a few chances, but the Sporting defence held on well. A stiff talking to and three substitutions at half time appeared to have the desired effect. Within eight minutes sub Nick Duff had opened the scoring and ten minutes later he had completed his hat trick. The improved performances from the whole team in the second half created several other chances but it was late on before a Sporting defender trying to clear his lines, put the ball into his own net to leave the final score at 4-0 and the boys in third place in the table.

Matches played weekend 27th/28th October 2007
Under 8’s The teams welcomed Chantry Grasshoppers, currently second in the Orwell league, to Dellwood Avenue for the second of their group cup matches. The ‘A’s after their defeat last weekend to Woodbridge, had made a big improvement and Matthew Tetley’s first goal for the club was enough to give them the win.
The ‘B’s who had lost out narrowly by 0-1 last week, managed a 1-1 draw. The seasiders goal coming from Haydon Dadswell, his fifth in seven matches.
Under 9’s No match for the team this week.
Under 10’s No match for the team this week.
Under 11’s No match for the team this week.
Under 12’s With the lads having won just once so far this campaign they travelled away to play a Kesgrave Kestrels side that had only lost one this season. The home team started well and were quickly 2-0 ahead. However, the seasiders did not panic and before half time they had pulled back level with two strikes in as many minutes from George Connor. The second period was a much tighter affair and eventually Kesgrave forced a goal which proved to be decisive. Final score 2-3.
Under 13’s At home to the league leaders Tornadoes, the lads put in a great performance that saw the first half end with the scores level at one each. The second half continued in a similar vein with the two sides swapping goals. Man of the match, Luke Turner added to his first half strike with two more goals, which brought the scores, level at 3-3. With a minute left on the clock it seemed as if the teams would have to settle for a point each. However, up popped Sam Cole with his first league goal of the season to secure the three points for the seasiders. Final score 4-3.
Under 14’s No match for the team this week.
Under 14’s Girls No details of the girls match received his week.
Under 15’s With the home side Brantham Athletic, having lost their first four league matches, and with only nine players available, it appeared as if the match against the bottom side would be a walk in the park for our lads! With the management warning the lads not to be complacent and that if they played their normal game everything would be ok. The trouble with boys however, is they don’t always listen to what you say and Brantham took the game to them and looked the better side for the first 15 minutes. Eventually the seasiders got lucky and after a corner was not cleared properly, Sam Boggis poked home a goal from 6 yards out. This made the home side even more determined and they were unlucky not to equalise on more than one occasion. When our lads finally began to settle down and play the ball, more opportunities came. Matthew Soper scored twice in quick succession to extend their lead but just before half time, a needlessly given away free kick was converted from 30 yards out to give the home side some hope. Following some stern words during the interval, the boys came out and played some decent football in the second half and Sam Read added a fourth goal after some excellent work in midfield by George McCallum. Matthew Soper then went on to complete his first ever hat trick for the seasiders to wrap up the three points and move the lads into fourth place in the table. Credit should also go to the Brantham team, their managers, and supporters who never gave up on the match and were a great advert for junior football. Final score 5-1.

Matches played weekend 13th/14th October 2007
Under 8’s A week off seemed to do the trick for the under 8’s. After four defeats on the bounce, they entertained mid table side Sizewell & Knodishall. The ‘A ‘ team scored early on through Ieuan Turner and he could have doubled the advantage later on when he had a couple of good chances. However, some great defending by man of the match Ryan Baldwin kept the opposition at bay and the boys were overjoyed to eventually hear the final whistle for their first ever league win. Final score 1-0.
The ‘B’s after winning their opening match 1-0, had not gained a point since, so they were determined to keep up with the ‘A’s. This they did with no problem, finishing up with an 8-1 thrashing of the visitors. Midfielder James Lindsay created several of the chances, with his excellent through balls being finished well by the strikers. Kieran Bowdidge scored his second of the season, and new signing Samuel Clarkson playing his first match for the seasiders, scored an amazing hat trick. Topping the list however, was man of the match Haydon Dadswell, who banged in four. Final score 8-1.
Under 9’s After promising starts in the league and 6-0 and 7-0 wins for the teams in their friendlies against Whitton United the previous week. The lads were disappointed to return from their away game against Witnesham Wasps, having lost out 4-0 in both matches.
Under 10’s No match for the lads this week.
Under 11’s The 11’s travelled to Brantham Athletic still looking for their first win of the campaign. Once again the ‘A’s came really close, losing out this time by just 1-0. Their previous three matches have been 1-2, 2-2, and 1-2. It is only a matter of time before they record a win. Final score 0-1.
The “new look” ‘B’s achieved a landmark of sorts, although they were beaten again, they scored their first goal of the season. With new signing, Jacob Mulvey applying the finish. Final score 1-4.
Under 12’s The shortest away trip of the season for the 12’s this week with a match against Felixstowe Hawks at Seaton Road. Unfortunately, it was a trip to forget as they went in at half time 4-0 down. A slight improvement in the second period saw them only concede twice more, but they will need to improve as the season progresses or they may be dragged back into the relegation zone. Final score 0-6.
Under 13’s No match for the lads this week.
Under 14’s The lads have the distinction of being the only age group that have not gained a point so far this season. That said, it is not for the want of trying as they travelled up the A12 to Sizewell & Knodishall. On the long journey home, Lawrence Gregory’s goal was their only consolation in a 3-1 defeat. With four new players and a smaller squad this season, the lads have found it tough going, but I am sure they will be able to turn things around as the season progresses. Final score 1-3.
Under 14’s Girls After a good start to the season, the girls have recently hit a bad patch with three defeats on the trot. This week the girls played host to Cornard Dynamos, who overpowered them to run out 5-0 winners. The girls need to find their scoring boots, as they have now gone four matches without a goal. Final score 0-5.
Under 15’s Having beaten Witnesham Wasps last weekend in the Cup, the two teams met again, but this time in the league at Langley Avenue. With regular keeper (and one of last weeks goal scorers) William Fuller back between the posts, reserve keeper Ben Hall, took his place on the subs bench. Midway through the first half, a Liam Butcher pass found George Kemp sprinting through the middle; he finished with ease to give the seasiders the lead. Soon after, a move between Sam Read and Lewis Johnson ended with the ball at the feet of Matthew Mackenzie, as usual, he took his chance, and the lads went into the interval 2-0 ahead. A frustrated Witnesham side then lost their composure a little, and two visiting players were shown yellow cards by the referee. Matthew Mackenzie then increased the seasiders lead before sub keeper Ben Hall came on as an outfield player for the last ten minutes. Unbelievably, he then emulated the feat of keeper William Fuller the previous week, who had also come off the bench to score his first for the club. Final score 4-0.
Under 15’s Girls After a two-week break, the girls welcomed Boxford Rovers to Coronation Park on Sunday. Unfortunately, the result did not go they way they had hoped as the visitors recorded a comfortable 8-1 victory. One highlight for the girls has been the form of new signing Madelaine Britton, who has now scored seven goals in her four matches for the club.
Under 16’s The lads travelled away for the third week running, this time to play Brantham Athletic. They kept up their record of scoring four goals in each league match to record their third win in four matches. The boys started well once again playing some good flowing football. Their reward came after 15 minutes when central midfielder Liam Wainwright, scored his third of the season. Unfortunately, a badly dealt with corner, allowed Brantham straight back into the match three minutes later. With half an hour played Robert Craig’s shot from an impossible angle was nudged over the line by Tom Copsey for his first of the campaign. The goal put the lads ahead once more as the half drew to a close. From the beginning of the second period, it was Felixstowe all the way with wide man Lee Egerton banging in his fourth of the season almost immediately. Brantham defended doggedly, but they never looked like scoring until of course, against the run of play they did just that. At 3-2 the opposition rallied once more looking for the draw, but the result was put firmly out of doubt, when Shaun Sadler scored with two minutes to play. Final score 4-2.

Under 8's No match this week.
Under 9’s No match this week.
Under 10’s A’s lost 4-1 at AFC Kesgrave in the Cup. B’s lost 5-0.
Under 11’s At home to Kesgrave Kestrels in the cup, the ‘A’s started well and at half time were good value for the 0-0 score line. Considering the boys had been beaten 4-1 by their opponents on the opening day of the season, they were creating plenty of chances. After the break disaster struck in the form of two quick but very good goals and the game looked out of reach. Not to be out done the seasiders struck back through Matthew Bury and they then had opportunities to level the scores, but eventually Kesgrave held on for the win. Final score 1-2.
The ‘B’s were beaten for the fifth successive match. However, they can take heart in the fact that when they played Kesgrave in the first game of the season they were beaten 11-0, this time it was only 5-0.
Under 12’s The boys received a bye in the first round of the cup.
Under 13’s The boys received a bye in the first round of the cup.
Under 14’s Struggling in the league at the moment, the boys lost out 3-2 at home to division two side Sproughton, in the first round of the cup.
Under 14’s Girls Lost 2-0 away at Stowupland Falcons.
Under 15’s For the home cup match against Witnesham Wasps, Ben Hall replaced the usual first choice keeper William Fuller. He then spent almost the entire first half admiring the football being played by his team-mates at the other end of the pitch. Despite having all the possession, the seasiders could not get on to the score sheet as the visiting keeper put in an incredible performance making save after save. His luck finally ran out just before the interval when Matthew Mackenzie eventually found the back of the net. The second half started where the first ended, with the lads dominating the play. Sam Read and Craig McAleer replaced the wingers and keeper William Fuller came on up front for Matthew Soper, who had been outstanding. Two more goals from Matthew Mackenzie had put the game out of reach for the visitors when William Fuller scored his first for the club just before the final whistle. Final score 4-0.
Under 15’s Girls No match this week.
Under 16’s Away at Framlingham Town and on a terrific surface, the boys played their part in a superb advert for junior football. Some excellent football from both sides produced a match that was enjoyed by the spectators from both sides. The home side progressed to the next round of the cup thanks to a well-worked goal midway through the first half. The seasiders threw everything they had at them during the second half, but they defended well and held on for the win.

Under 8’s
A’s lost 1-4 at Woodbridge Town.
B’s lost 2-3.
Under 9’s
A’s drew 0-0 at home to Trimley Red Devils.
B’s drew 2-2.
Under 10’s
A’s won 4-0 at home to Claydon Sports.
B’s lost 0-1.
Under 11’s The boys travelled to Witnesham Wasps and with both sides looking for their first win, the ‘A’ match was always going to be close. Having gone behind early on Jordan White scored just before the interval to bring the scores level. The second period started in a similar way with the home side taking the lead once more, again Jordan levelled, but the boys could not put away their chances to grab all three points. Final score 2-2.
With the huge changes in personnel this season the ‘B’s are now beginning to find their feet. Although they were well beaten, the lads are starting to play more as a team and they are improving week by week. Final score 0-5
Under 12’s After their heavy defeat last week the lads faced the prospect of a visit to unbeaten league leaders Martlesham Mustangs. The first half was a tight affair with the home side taking the lead after the seasiders failed to clear a ball which had bounced back off of the crossbar. Early into the second half, it was all square when George Connor finished well after some good work from Matthew Pipe and Sam Newman. From then on it was end-to-end stuff with Martlesham taking the lead again. However, the boys did not let their heads drop and when Liam Butler scored from all of 30 yards; they were right back in the game. Unfortunately two silly mistakes at the back gave the home side the advantage once more as they stretched their lead. Ricco Dimascio’s looping effort from the edge of the box meant that the last few minutes were tense but another strike from the home side sealed the points late on. A better performance from the boys against a quality side. Final score 5-3.
Under 13’s Lost 1-6 at home to Ransomes.
Under 14’s Lost 6-0 at Woodbridge Town.
Under 14’s Girls After a win, a loss, and a draw so far this season, the girls entertained Copleston Girls at Coronation Park. Unfortunately, despite having all 13 girls available for the match for the first time this season, the opposition proved too strong and ran out 4-0 winners.
Under 15’s The lads with three players unavailable this week, were at home against an unbeaten Woodbridge Town side that had scored sixteen and conceded only one goal in their first three matches. The first half saw both teams playing some excellent passing football with the visitors taking the lead after 20 minutes. The seasiders struck back as the half drew to a close with a terrifically hit free-kick by Matthew Mackenzie. The second half began with the visitors taking the initiative and quickly establishing a two-goal advantage. However, the lads were soon back in the match, when Matthew Mackenzie headed home a Liam Butcher corner. Pushing for an equaliser, the lads made several chances but could not find the finish they needed to secure the draw. Unfortunately, late on the visitors capitalised on a mistake by the seasiders’ keeper and scored to leave the final score at 2-4.
Under 15’s Girls No result at this time.
Under 16’s After their day off last weekend, the boys were back in action against a Sutton Heath side that had won two of their previous three matches. The first 15 minutes saw the lads playing very nervously and failing to make much of an impact. At the mid point of the half a ball through by Shaun Sadler found his strike partner Nick Duff, who finished well. The goal seemed to settle the lads down and from that point on they were in complete control. Just before the break, Sutton equalised with a superb strike from 25 yards out, which left the keeper no chance. The second period started with the seasiders making all the chances. A scuffed free kick by Nathan Stephenson found its way to Liam Wainwright who stabbed it home to retake the lead. A minute later Nick Duff scored his second, as he headed home Matthew Kempson’s corner at the near post. By the time the midway point in the second half had been reached, Lee Egerton had cut in from the left wing and rifled home a shot into the far corner to make it 4-1. In the dying moments the home side scored a consolation goal with a long ball over the top to leave the final score 4-2.

Matches played weekend 22nd/23rd September 2007
Under 8’s No report from the 8’s but away at Framlingham Town, both teams lost out 0-3.
Under 9’s This week the boys travelled to Kesgrave Kestrels and for a change, the ‘B’ team played their match first. Throughout the match, the seasiders dominated the possession but unfortunately, during the first half they were unable to create any clear-cut chances. After the interval, they did manage to get shots in on the Kesgrave goal but the home keeper produced some excellent saves to keep the score at 0-0.
The ‘A’s continued their fine form from the previous week playing some wonderful passing football. With six minutes on the clock, Aaron Bull fed a neat pass through to Charlie Brown who finished well to make it three goals in three matches this season. Before the break, Sam Gilder had the opportunity to double the lead but his shot was just wide. The second half saw Kesgrave get more players behind the ball and the chances were harder to come by. However, the boys held on for their second win of the year. Final score 1-0.
Under 10’s Another close match for the ‘A’s as they entertained last years champions, Woodbridge Town. The boys have only conceded 3 goals in their first three matches, but only have one point to show for their efforts. A goal down at half time the boys battled well but could not find the final ball and goal that would set them on their way. Final score 0-1.
The ‘B’s did their best to play some good football but were overpowered by a classy Woodbridge team. William O’Maley scored in the second half but by this time they were 4-1 down and the visitors scored twice more before the end. Final score 1-6.
Under 11’s Away from home against an unbeaten Sproughton side, the ‘A’s almost grabbed their first points of the season. Unfortunately, Jace Smith’s third goal in three games was not enough as the home side scored twice to record the win. Final score 1-2.
The ‘B’s are still struggling and have now conceded 30 goals without reply in their three matches. Final score 0-9.
Under 12’s This week’s visitors to Langley Avenue were a Brantham Athletic side who had already won one and drawn one in their first two matches. The seasiders started well with Sam Newman grabbing the first goal after just five minutes. Unfortunately, that was as good as it got for the boys. By half time, they were 4-1 down, and by the end of the match, Brantham had knocked in another four to leave the final score at 8-1.
Under 13’s After a draw and a loss in their first two matches the boys, were back on form when they travelled to play unbeaten, Brantham Athletic. No actual match report for the lads but I can report that Ben Bullock, Lee Dawson, and David Henshaw all grabbed a goal each. Also on the score sheet was Luke Turner whose four goals took him onto 50 for the club in his 112th appearance. Final score 7-3.
Under 14’s No report from the under 14’s but they lost out 4-2 to Martlesham Spitfires, Terry Dean and Adam Langford getting the goals for the seasiders.
Under 14’s Girls Away from home against a Brandon Lasses team that had won their opening two matches, 10-0 and 11-0, the girls played fantastically to earn a 0-0 draw.
Under 15’s Up against a Locomotive Laxfield side who had lost both of their opening matches, the lads were hopeful a of a win. However, try as they might, they created loads of chances but could not find the back of the net. Midway through the half, the break came when a Laxfield defender put the ball in his own net after a cross in from Charles Gosling. Despite conceding the goal, the visitors were spurred on and by half time, they had levelled the scores. Just after the restart, they went ahead with superb individual goal and the seasiders had their work cut out to get back in the match. Lewis Johnson, with his first strike for the club made it 2-2, and then Matthew Mackenzie hit a free kick from 30yards to put the lads ahead again. The result was put beyond doubt when Charles Gosling’s corner was headed home at the far post by Sam Boggis. Final score 4-2.
Under 15’s Girls The girls picked up their first win of the season when they travelled up the A12 to Framlingham Town. With Jenny Arroud taking over in goal, Briley Coates took the opportunity to get back out on pitch and score her first goal of the season. Also on the score sheet was Leanne Lockwood, and new signing, Madelaine Britton, made it six in three matches with her two goals. Final score 4-1.
Under 16’s No match for the lads this week.
Club landmarks reached this week:
Luke Turner, under 13’s, 50 goals.

Matches played weekend 15th/16th September 2007
Under 8’s No reports from our youngest seasiders as yet, but I can tell you that both teams lost out 0-3 away at Kesgrave Kestrels.
Under 9’s After their defeats last weekend, the boys bounced back, with both teams winning at home to Martlesham Youth. The ‘A’s dominated the match from the start and when the keeper parried Aaron Bull’s shot after ten minutes, Bradley Bullock was on hand to slot home. Moments later, Bradley’s cross in from the right wing found Matthew Haskell unmarked in the centre; he finished well to give the seasiders a two-goal lead at the interval. The second period saw the lads continue to press forward and last years top scorer Charlie Brown, netted twice to ensure the victory. Final score 4-0.
The ‘B’s also started well and for the second week running, two goals from Eddie Marshall, gave them a comfortable half time lead. After the break, Martlesham hit back, and for a while, the boys were nervous of losing their lead. Shortly afterwards, Harley Barkes used his pace to beat the last defender and his shot into the bottom corner restored the two-goal advantage. Final score 3-1.
Under 10’s After losses for both teams on the opening day of the season, the boys were looking to pick up some points on their trip to near neighbours Kirton Kestrels. The ‘A’s took the lead in the first half after breaking down an attack from their opponents. They quickly moved the ball forward and passed the ball through to striker Connor Savage. Faced with a one-on-one with the advancing keeper, he finished with a low and hard strike into the corner of the net. After the break, Kirton pushed for an equaliser but were denied on several occasions by some fine goalkeeping by Ollie Spink. Eventually they managed to level the scores with a long clearance that landed at the feet of an unmarked player who was able to fire home unchallenged. Final score 1-1.
The ‘B’ team also took an early lead through new signing Alex Smith playing in only his second match. However, after the goal it was Kirton all the way, as they piled on the pressure. Some excellent defending from James Horton and man of the match Dan French just managing to keep the opposition at bay. Kirton finally got their reward late on, when they scored at the back post from a corner. Overall, a point for the seasiders was well deserved in both matches. Final score 1-1.
Under 11’s
Another tough day for the boys this time at home to a Ransomes
side that are sure to be at the top of the table at the end of the season. The
‘A’s held the opposition to 1-3 at halftime, but as the game wore on, an
injury reduced the seasiders to 6 players, and Ransomes took advantage. Final
score 2-8, goal scorers for the seasiders were Jace Smith and Ben
Parker.
The ‘B’ team also found things difficult, losing out 0-10.
Under 12’s Having won their opening fixture last weekend, the boys travelled to near neighbours and last years champions, Trimley Red Devils. In the first half, the boys were second best in every department and lucky to go in at the interval just 2-0 down. After a stern team talk, the lads came out for the second period with a completely different attitude and although they conceded another goal, their overall performance was very much better. With the right desire and commitment, the boys are quite capable of competing in the top division. Final score 0-3.
Under 13’s Another tight game for the lads this week, at home to local rivals Felixstowe Falcons. The boys lost out 1-2, details to follow.
Under 14’s Having just survived in the top division last season, the team, now minus several players, certainly have their work cut out this year. The last thing they needed was to play a highflying Brantham Athletic side when they only had 10 players. The inevitable happened and the boys lost out 0-9.
Under 14’s Girls Having lost out by the odd goal in seven last week, the girls came back strongly against their visitors Bury Town ‘A’. No details of the scorers, but I can tell you that they won convincingly 5-1.
Under 15’s Having struggled to gain points against Wickham Market in the past couple of seasons and on the back of last weeks defeat by Kirton, the boys did well to pick themselves up and record their first win of the campaign. The first goal came as a result of a melee following a corner, with Matthew Soper prodding home the ball. Despite pressure by our lads, it was Wickham who surprised everyone with an equaliser from nowhere just before the interval. Again, the seasiders had most of the possession in the second half but they were finding it hard to convert their chances. Eventually substitute Sam Read drove the ball home from the edge of the area to settle things down. To complete the victory late on, Matthew Mackenzie, now playing back in midfield, lobbed the opposition keeper from all of 30 yards. Final score 3-1.
Under 15’s Girls For the second week running, the girls were involved in a nine-goal thriller, this time away at Debenham Leisure Centre. Having lost out to the odd goal last week, the girls faced a strong Debenham side who had won their opening fixture away at Copleston. Unfortunately, another goal from Josie Haward and two from new signing Madelaine Britton, (now four in her first two matches) was not enough for the girls to secure the win. That said things are certainly looking up. Final score 3-6.
Under
16’s Having won last weekend by the
odd goal in seven, it was once again a similar game for the lads. This week they
failed to kill off the opposition in the shape of Wickham Market.
Swapping goal for goal throughout, the first half ended with the scores level at
3-3. Robert Craig had opened the scoring with a terrific long-range
effort after just three minutes, and it looked as if the lads were on their way.
However, Wickham replied almost straight away, and with only 11 minutes of the
match played they had equalised again following Nick Duff‘s goal. By
halftime the visitors had taken the lead once more only for Nick to grab
his second to go into the interval all square at 3-3. After the restart, it was
Wickham who once more took the advantage, but true to form, the seasiders came
back again and levelled with a goal from substitute Shaun Sadler. It then
looked as if the score would remain unchanged until the final whistle as neither
side could break the deadlock, but with five minutes left to play, everything
changed. Sprinting out of his area to close down a long through ball, seasiders
keeper Declan O’Brien inadvertently blocked the ball with his arm.
The referee applied the letter of the law and the RED CARD followed.
Reduced to ten men, Matthew Kempson was sacrificed to allow stand in
keeper Nathan Stephenson to rejoin the game in between the posts. Having
made a couple of good stops late on, Nathan did his utmost to keep the
opposition out but pressure told and they pinched a goal in the dying seconds to
steal the three points. Final score 4-5.
Roy Kempson.
Matches played weekend 8th/9th September 2007
Under 8’s No
match reports from the 8’s.
‘A’s lost 3-1, and the ‘B’s won 1-0 at home to
Trimley.
Under 9’s For
their first matches of the season the boys had their furthest trip as they
headed north up the A12 to Framlingham Town. In the ‘A’ game the
first half was evenly contested with the closest chance falling to the seasiders,
Sam Gilder whose free kick rattled the cross bar. Early in the second
half, the home side took the lead when a free kick into the box was scrambled
over the line. Despite creating several chances, some poor finishing meant that
they could not capitalise. With just ten minutes to play Framlingham, doubled
their advantage to seal the three points.
Final score 2-0.
The ‘B’ game started with the boys still in pre-season
mode and within ten minutes they were 3-0 behind. A change up front saw the
introduction of Eddie Marshall and things began to look up. Debutant
Charlie Driver made a good run down the left and his ball into the penalty
area was finished well by Eddie. In the second half, the lads continued
to press forward and up popped Eddie again to score from close range. With
Framlingham now in danger of letting their advantage slip away, they began to
defend in numbers. Although the lads continued to push, the solid home defence
refused to buckle and they held on for the win.
Final score 3-2.
Under 10’s The
boys played their first ever match on the newly marked out pitch at Dellwood
Avenue. The ‘A’s were up against a well organised and strong Ransomes
team. With both teams defences cancelling each other out it was likely that a
single goal could settle the match, and so it proved. Unfortunately, for the
seasiders, a goalmouth scramble resulted in defender Sam Bilton’s
clearance, finding the back of his own net. A late chance by Matthew Harrold
beat the Ransomes keeper only for a defender to clear it off the goal line.
Final score 0-1.
The ‘B’ team had three new signings and a new keeper to
settle in, so they were not too surprised to be 4-0 down at halftime. The second
half saw the team settle down and despite conceding two more goals, their
performance was much improved.
Final score 0-6.
Under 11’s The boys started their final campaign of mini soccer with a visit to a Kesgrave Kestrels side who have not lost a match for the past two seasons. In the ‘A’ game, a goal from last seasons top scorer Jace Smith, pulled the boys level at halftime. However, as the game went on, the lack of a substitute meant that as the lads tired the home side took control. Three unanswered goals in the second half gave the home side a 4-1 win.
The ‘B’s, with five new players for this year found it hard going but as the game went on they did start to gel. Unfortunately, against a side as good as this by that time, it was too late and the boys were beaten 11-0. Things can only get better and we are sure they will.
Under 12’s At home
for their first competitive 11-a-side match, the boys welcomed Holbrook
Hornets. Within five minutes, new signing Joe Coniam ran onto a high
ball from Daniel Long and slipped it past the keeper to make it a debut
to remember. With their confidence boosted, George Connor soon made it
2-0 and a good open game followed. The opposition pulled a goal back midway
through the half before Sam “Nugget” Newman made it 3-1 just before half
time. After the restart, the game continued to be end to end and the visitors
quickly pulled a goal back. The score remained the same until with fifteen
minutes to play Nathan Gould came off the bench to restore the two-goal
advantage. The visitors refused to lie down and went straight down to the other
end and once more narrowed the gap. Any chance that Holbrook had of
making a comeback was dispelled when Sam Newman scored his second to seal
the win.
Final score 5-3.
Under 13’s
No match reports from the 13’s.
Drew 2-2 away at Bramford United.
Under 14’s No
match reports from the 14’s.
Lost 8-0 away at St Johns.
Under 14’s Girls
After two good pre-season wins over Framlingham Town and
Felixstowe Hawks, the girls were in good form to kick the season off against
last years champions Witnesham Wasps. Despite two goals from Sophie
Crane and another from Gaby Swan, they were unable to keep out a
strong Wasps team who snatched the win.
Final score 3-4.
Under 15’s Away
from home at Kirton Kestrels, the boys had their work cut out right from
the start as the home side pressed forward early on. Things did not go to plan
also when Liam Butcher, with a thigh injury, had to be replaced after
just five minutes. However, for all their pressure, the Kestrels only managed
one goal and as the seasiders got more into the game, they began to make chances
of their own. George McCullam played the ball out wide to the stand in
left-sided midfielder, Charles Gosling. He ran through, beat a defender,
and drove the ball past the keeper to level the scores. Just minutes later,
“Gossie” repeated the feat, this time with the ball being supplied by
Jamal Wiggins. Unfortunately, a lapse in concentration just before the half
time whistle meant that the teams would start the second half all square at two
apiece. As in the first period, Kirton came out of the blocks quickly and before
they knew what had hit them the seasiders were 4-2 behind. On a rare
counter-attacking breakthrough, the lads were awarded a fortunate penalty.
However, when things are not going your way, the usual happens and the usually
reliable Matthew Mackenzie struck his penalty wide of the post. As the
match drew to a close, Kirton added a fifth goal to round off a good mornings
work for them.
Final score 2-5.
Under 15’s Girls
For their first match under new manager Matt Self,
the girls entertained Woodbridge Town at Coronation Park. In a seesaw
match, the girls were 3-1 behind before they pulled back level at halftime.
Midway through the second period the girls took the lead only for the strong
Woodbridge side to strike twice late on to steal the victory. A good result for
the girls considering that last season the visitors finished 19 points ahead of
them in the league and beat them 9-0 and 9-2. Goal scorers for the seasiders
were Josie Haward, Leanne Lockwood and two for Madelaine Britton
on her debut.
Final score 4-5.
Under 16’s
Having been relegated from division one last season, the
boys were encouraged this week to learn that despite this, they had won the
leagues Fair Play Trophy for last year. Looking forward to the new
challenge of division two, they welcomed Witnesham Wasps to Langley
Avenue for their first match of the season. With just eight minutes played, last
seasons top scorer, Martin Janacek opened the scoring, but within ten
minutes, the visitors had two attacks and had scored twice. Lee Egerton
levelled the scores with a penalty after half an hour and just before the
interval, Liam Wainwright hit a screamer from all of 25 yards to put the
seasiders back ahead. The second half was all Felixstowe, but the boys just
couldn’t find the final ball to kill off the game. With just ten minutes left,
the inevitable happened and Witnesham stole an equaliser and the lads looked to
have missed out on what should have been two well-deserved points. Then with
just a minute to play, Nick Duff headed in from close range to secure the
win.
Final score 4-3.
Roy Kempson.
Saturday the 26th of August 2007 saw the under 16’s
make the trip out to Sutton heath to play in a four way 11-a-side tournament.
After their tough struggle in division one last year, the lads were hoping for a
brighter start to their final season. A 2-1 win over Wickham Market in
their first match set the boys on their way. They then followed this with a 1-1
draw against the hosts Sutton Heath to leave them in a good position.
Their final match saw the lads up against a Framlingham Town side who had
knocked them out of the cup the previous season. Despite going one down early
on, the boys rallied and their passing game paid dividends as they dominated the
rest of the game to win 2-1.
As all four of the teams are in the same division for this season, things are looking very good for the Seasiders.
A special word of thanks to Charles Gosling and Liam Butcher of the under 15’s who came along to ensure we had a big enough squad for the day. Both boys played outstanding football and did not look at all out of place with the older age groups.
Under 13’s Pre-season trip to Holland
For the 6th year running the August, bank holiday weekend saw the Felixstowe & Walton under 13’s off on the ferry for their return visit to Quintus F C in northern Holland.
Having played host to the Dutch lads back in May it was a chance for the boys to renew the friendships they made, and an opportunity for the home side to gain revenge for the 4-0 defeat they suffered at Dellwood Avenue in the Vis/Curry cup match.
With two boys, (Sam White & Ben Hunt) out just before the trip with broken arms and an out of date passport for Peter Ball, the squad was severely depleted. However, two last minute replacements, in the shape of Scott Dugdale and Lee Middleton were found, to ensure the trip could go ahead.
After an enjoyable day out at a theme park on the Friday, the main event was the cup match on the Saturday. As usual, half of the town were out to support the Quintus lads and a new and strong outfit they proved to be.
Five minutes after kick off our boys were a goal down, but as the half progressed, they got more and more into the game. Before the interval, a good ball through from Jake Green found guest player Lee Middleton who coolly slotted the ball past the Quintus keeper.
In the second period, our boys made a much brighter start, and within minutes, Luke Turner and Jordan Youngs had both scored to make it 3-1. However, the Dutch lads were not prepared to give in and soon pulled another goal back to reduce the deficit. Another goal from Jordan Youngs appeared to have settled the match at 4-2 but in the seven minutes of added time, Quintus grabbed two late goals to force the match into a penalty shoot-out.
The first five penalties from each side failed to separate the two teams with four goals each and a fine save from each keeper. So it was down to sudden death. Up stepped Jesse Kewn for the seasiders and he calmly slotted the ball into the corner of the net. It was then down to guest keeper Scott Dugdale to save the day. Having dived the wrong way, he flicked out his foot and managed to clear the ball away to give the seasiders the win.
Sunday saw the boys enter the 11-a-side tournament against several local Dutch sides. After a draw and two wins in their first three matches, it was all set up for their final match against who else but Quintus. In a winner takes all match, the boys once again showed their quality coming back from a goal down to win the match and the tournament.
All the boys seemed to enjoy their trip abroad and Paul and Larry have told me they were a credit to their parents and to the football club in the way they conducted themselves. Well done to them all.
