An excellent performance from the Seasiders in their final game of the
season ended in heartache with the Magpies scoring three very late goals to
snatch victory and the points.

Captain Sean Bell with two headed goals from Barber
corners 1st pictured saw the visitors take a hold on the game within fifteen minutes before
Beamont reduced the deficit.
Barber fired home a 25 yard free kick strings in midfield Felixstowe continued to impress in the second
period until five minutes remained on the watch.
Beamont's shot came back off Nower's right hand post only to strike the
unfortunate Barber and deflect into the net to give the Magpies hope of a late
fight back. A minute later Williams headed home the
equaliser and with 5 minutes and 55 seconds of time added on
Howell rattled home the winner with just time to
kick off before the final whistle blew.

Barber's free kick finds the back of the net.

Wisbech Town 4 - 1 Felixstowe & Walton United (3-1)
A sunny afternoon for our first visit to "The Nest" at Outwell,
the Fenmen's temporary home. Wisbech avenged their January defeat at Dellwood
Avenue with a comfortable win despite going behind after 21 minutes.
Felixstowe's lead from the penalty spot scored by Berry
was against the run of play and it did not take long for the home side to gain
and extend the lead with goals from Smith,
Ablett (2) and Doherty.

The Seasiders
first trip to the ‘Nest’ will be one they will quickly want to forget following
a below par performance at the Fenmen’s temporary home. The home side took
control from the opening minute and never relinquished their grip as they
cruised to what in the end proved to be a comfortable win against a lacklustre
Seasiders.
A poor surface, difficult wind and some strange refereeing decisions unsettled the Seasiders who never got to grips with the conditions and they ended with ten men following a second yellow for George Blewer.
The home side forced three
corners in as many opening minutes before Jimson found space on the left
but somehow missed the target with an empty net in front of him his effort going
across goal to Ablett who collected the loose ball but fired it back across an
empty net to safety.
The Seasiders were fortunate not to concede in the early stages and it was against the run of play when the Porky Claydon made ground into the Wisbech area but hauled back by Cousins gripping his shirt pictured and Paul Berry put his side in front with a well taken penalty in the 21st min.
It was a
temporary reprieve for the Seasiders and a short lived lead when with the sun in
his eyes, Shaun Bell failed to get any power in his 29th minute
clearance, it fell kindly for Billy Smith who,
spotting Ben Nower off his line volleyed a 30 yard effort past the stranded
keeper.
Poor defensive play from the Seasiders saw them undone before half time when first Butcher & Nower got in a tangle to leave Ablett an empty net to place the ball into in the 39th minute and four minutes later Ablett was again first to react to a loose ball and lob over the advanced keeper from the edge of the area to score his second.
There was hope at half time
with the wind at their back the Seasiders would raise their performance but it
proved to be forlorn hope, although they had increased possession they rarely
used it to good effect failing to test Street in the home goal throughout the
half.
The game ended with some controversy when Bradley Barber's run was halted unceremoniously by Reeve inside the Wisbech area and when referee Mr Hardie blew his whistle both sets of players were expecting a penalty only to see a free kick awarded mysteriously for off-side.
Blewer was then penalised at the other end, collecting a yellow card, for a trip on Jimson inside the area with Doherty converting the resulting spot kick to put the destination of the points beyond doubt. The Seasider's defender received a second yellow with ten minutes remaining for dissent to leave the visitors with ten men and nothing to show for their long trip into the Fens.

Saturday 18th April 2009 - Ridgeons League Premier
Division
Felixstowe & Walton United 3 - 1 Mildenhall Town
(1-0)
The Seasiders recorded a league double over the Hall to complete their home
campaign in style.
Gavin Crane opened the scoring on 19 minutes as
both teams produced neat build up play in the warm sunshine with Nower saving
from Harvey to keep the home side ahead at the interval.
The lively Andy Claydon capped a man of the match
performance doubling the Seasiders lead on 67 minutes with
Paul Berry adding the third two minutes later.
John Sands pulled a goal back for the visitors with
18 minutes remaining to keep the game alive but despite Simpson and Harvey both
going close there was to be no late drama with the home side comfortably seeing
out time to collect the points.
Seasiders: Nower, Saker, Butcher (Bloomfield 58), Wright,
Bell, Blewer, Barber, Berry, Connell (Andrade 67), Claydon, Crane ( Hampson 72).
Unused sub: Smith
The Hall: Pope, Cooper, Paterson (Baillie 62), Harvey,
Werthmann, Karrie, Spriggs, Simpson, Youngs, Sands, Robinson.
Unused Subs: Coe, Turner, Bailey.
Mr Andy Symonds
Att 109
A sunny, warm and breezy afternoon for the Seasiders last home
game of the season as Glen Driver named one change in the starting line up with
Blake Saker returning from injury to replace Bailey-
Dennis
and the home supporters were also pleased to see Joe Bloomfield named on the
bench after a lengthy injury.
The home side started brightly with Berry, Barber and Crane linking well but
Mildenhall went closest to opening the scoring on six minutes from a free kick
that went narrowly wide. Gavin Crane shot wide on
15 minutes and four minutes later his perseverance was rewarded when a shot from
the angle of the area was deflected
over Pope for the opening goal pictured.
Spriggs made ground down the right and Harvey was at the centre of much of Mildenhall's good work in the first half combining on the half hour for Sands to produce a telling cross from the right but Youngs just failed to make a decisive contact in front of goal.
Connell fired over from the edge of the area pictured for
Felixstowe
with Mildenhall finishing the half strongly, Bell heading away under pressure
and Nower palming over the bar from Harvey following successive corners as the
half came to a close.
The Seasiders started the second half strongly with Berry going close with a
curling shot and Karrie reacted quickly, after the dangerous Claydon had beaten
Pope, to clear the ball off the goal line pictured. Back came Mildenhall
with a strong spell of pressure and Sands was unlucky to see his shot beat Nower but
rebound off the
angle of post and bar. The Felixstowe defence worked hard to resist the
pressure before Berry sprang defence into attack on 67 minutes for
Andy Claydon to force home the second goal after
Crane and Connell had pressured the visiting keeper pictured.
Two minutes
later it was Paul Berry again down the left wing pictured and this time
his fierce drive found the back of the net off a defender to give the Seasiders
a comfortable three goal lead.
Claydon went close to adding to the score before John Sands provided a lifeline for the visitors with a well struck goal in the 72nd minute. Encouraged Mildenhall pushed forward but Bell and Blewer at the heart of the home defence kept sight of the target to a minimum and despite Simpson and Harvey both going close Nower was not called upon to make a serious save as the Seasiders saw out time.

Spriggs takes a corner under pressure from the smell of the hot dogs.

Division
Histon Res. 6 - 2 Felixstowe & Walton United (4-1)
Down to earth with a bump after the mid-week win at CRC as defensive
mistakes were seized upon by the young and mobile Histon side as they raced into
a four goal lead in just over half an hour. Goals from
Wright six minutes either side of half time produced hope, but this was
quickly dashed as Tidswell completed his hat-trick
to secure the points.
It was midweek high to weekend low for the Seasiders as they crashed through the
three figure goals against column. They left the sunshine of the East Coast for
overcast and raining Cambridgeshire and their performance matched the weather as
they failed to cope with a youthful home side.
With Blake
Saker failing to recover from a thigh injury, Glenn Driver was forced into
changes, bringing in Adam Bailey-Dennis alongside Sean Bell at the heart of the
defence with George Blewer moving to right back. Bradley Barber also returned to
the midfield with Wednesday nights match winner Adam Hampson relegated to the
Subs bench .
HISTON: Howard, Dalby, Stewart, Stevenson, Upcott, Stroud,
Campbell (Cranfield 77), Brennan, O’Brien (Taffee 51), Tidwell, Duffy (Young
70).
Unused Subs: Kennedy, Mintus
SEASIDERS: Nower, Blewer, Butcher (Inglis 52 – Hampson 66), Wright,
Bailey-Dennis, Bell, Barber (Andrade 62), Berry, Connell, Claydon, Crane.

Mr Mike Blackledge
Att 61
The Seasiders
faithful made up a good contingent of the meagre crowd but they were rocked with
just six minutes on the clock when Tyler Campbell got away on the right and
crossed for Pete Duffy at the far post who was
unmarked to loop the ball over Ben Nower, pictured.
The home side were dealing with the wet and bumpy surface far better than the
Seasiders although there were half hearted appeals for a penalty in the 18th
minute when Paul Berry went down in the Histon area but referee Mike Blackledge
waived them away and a minute later the Stutes reserves doubled their lead. The
dangerous Tyler Campbell collected the ball wide on
the right near the half way line and bore down on the Seasiders goal as the
defence opened up in front of him before hitting a volley past Nower from 12
yards.
With the home
side rampant at this point and the Seasiders defence all at sea it was no
surprise in the 26th minute when Andy Tidswell
pictured was left unmarked to get in front of Ben Nower and head
Stewart’s cross into the net for his sides third and the misery continued eight
minutes later as the Seasiders failed to cut out Campbell’s cross leaving
Dolton O’Brien alone in the six yard box to make it
4-0.
Looking down and out the Seasiders did pick themselves up and gained some
possession putting the home defence under real pressure for the first time in
the game, Howard tipped a rising shot from
Wright over the bar for the visitors first corner of the game and in the 38th
minute from their second, Duane Wright headed Paul
Berry’s flag kick firmly past Howard.
Six minutes into the second half Berry and Wright
repeated the corner to make it 4-2 pictured and the Seasiders were on top
with the travelling faithful beginning to believe that an extraordinary come
back was on the cards.
It was not to
be as their fate was sealed in a three minute spell, firstly Bailey-Dennis
conceded possession just inside his own half in the 59th minute and
Tidswell ran through to fire across Nower to
restore his sides three goal advantage and when in the 63rd minute Claydon was
tripped inside the area, Wright stepped up but saw his spot kick comfortably
saved at the foot of a post by Howard.
Glen Driver then withdrew Kevin Inglis who had replaced Butcher 14 minutes
earlier to be replaced by Adam Hampson but the Seasiders looked second best and
ten minutes from time the misery was complete as Tidswell
had a free header at the far post to make it 6-2 and complete his hat-trick.

CRC 0 - 1 Felixstowe & Walton United
(0-0)
Adam Hampson's 63rd minute goal at the far post
from Andrade's cross separated the sides as the Seasiders produced an excellent
all round team performance to secure all three points from second placed
CRC at the Abbey Stadium. On a good surface in near ideal conditions both young
teams produced a flowing passing game that was a pleasure to watch.
The home side produced the greater scoring threat but found Ben Nower in
sparkling form making a triple save in the first half to deny Eades & Berry and
in time added on at the end of the game somehow kept out Ives' powerful strike
at the foot of a post to maintain a clean sheet.
Sean Bell produced a Captain's innings heading away the danger on numerous
occasions to deny the towering Hudson and ensured his team maintained
concentration to the final whistle.
CRC: Beagle, Hipwell,
Kessack, McAuley, Hudson, Ives, Patrick (Cutajar 66), Berry, Bailey (Cooper 61),
Marriott (Hughes 35), Eades.
Unused Subs: McGeorge, Parr.
Seasiders: Nower, Saker, Butcher, Wright, Bell, Blewer, Berry, Hampson

Unused subs: Mackenzie, Ellwood.

One change from last Saturday with 17 year old Ben Connell making his debut in place of the injured Barber as Glen Driver named a youthful side for the visit to the Abbey, and they did not let him down.
With the sun setting behind the stand and the floodlights on a good gathering of
support from Felixstowe settled into their seats to enjoy a game of flowing
football from two young and talented sides.
The home side enjoyed a good early spell with Nower producing his first save in
the second minute to deny CRC's Berry following a good run followed by four
consecutive corners earned in as many minutes.
Connell bravely challenged for a long ball with Beagle in the home goal as the
visitors gained possession to take the pressure off the Felixstowe defence.
Berry and Wright worked tirelessly in midfield to gain and retain possession
with Connell and Hampton bringing comfortable saves from Beagle following good
build up play from the Seasiders.
Nower produced stunning saves in quick succession to deny Eades and Marriott on 21 minutes as the pressure built once again with CRCs corner count going into double figures with the defence, Captain Bell at the heart of it, working hard to clear their lines.
The home side's best opening of the game came 11 minutes after the restart when
Bailey found himself with only Nower to beat but placed his showed wide of the
target with the Felixstowe keeper quickly closing. Andrade replaced
Connell and made an immediate contribution with a cross from the left to the far
post met by Adam Hampson for the only goal of the game on 63 minutes.
Smith made his debut replacing Hampson on 68 minutes as the Manager continued to
encourage the introduction of the under 18 players to first team action.
CRC pressed on for a equaliser with Hipwell, Berry and Cooper going close but finding the Felixstowe defence in defiant mood, keeping concentration, passing their way out of trouble and retaining possession well as the final whistle drew ever closer.
The last action of the game saw Ben Nower produce a remarkable save at the foot of his right post to keep out Ives for a confidence boosting clean sheet and three well deserved points.
Fantastic - well done lads.

Ely City 1 - 2 Felixstowe & Walton United (0-2)
The Seasiders survived a dramatic last few minutes to secure all three
points from their trip to Cambridgeshire. First half goals from
Gavin Crane and Paul Berry
looked to have gained the points for the visitors as the game drew to a close
with the Robins earning plenty of possession but without unduly troubling the
Felixstowe defence. The introduction of Dale Archer
provided an edge to the home attack and when he scored two minutes into injury
time there was still time for three goal line clearances to follow before the
final whistle blew to the relief of the travelling faithful.
Robins: Greygoose,
Smith, Alsop, Brown, Stone, Goddard, Warren, Bensaud (Jafian 78), Mason (Archer
78), Pettit (Impey 65), Eames.
Unused Subs: Lawrence, Sterecki.
Seasiders: Nower, Ellwood (Mackenzie 62), Butcher, Saker, Bell, Blewer, Berry, Barber, Wright

A warm sunny afternoon welcomed a youthful looking Felixstowe team to Ely with
Alex Ellwood and
Liam Butcher filling the fullback positions and Matt Mackenzie and Tommy Smith
on the bench, Matt later making his debut. Inglis was serving the first of a two
match suspension.
The records showed that both sides were happier going forward than defending and
the home team were the first on the front foot forcing an early corner with Ben
Nower, in the visitors goals, saving well to keep out Bensaud's header in the
third minute pictured.
Crane shot wide of the home goal as the game moved from end to end with Bensaud
again going close for the Robins, placing his shot from six yards over the
Felixstowe cross
bar.
With Ely pressing forward gaps appeared in the home defence with Gavin Crane finding space on the left to score pictured on 18 minutes following good interplay between Claydon and Berry. Crane turned provider six minutes later feeding Paul Berry to slot home the second.
Ely exerted pressure on the Felixstowe goal winning a succession of corners
which Bell, Blewer and
Saker dealt with
well and on the break Felixstowe looked capable of extending their lead with a
Berry shot blocked by Alsop and Bell going close with a shot from distance. Ely
finished the half strongly with Nower punching to clear from Eames' free kick
and quickly to the edge of the area to shut out the danger posed by Mason.
Seconds after the restart an excellent ball from Saker released Claydon and his
shot beat Greygoose but struck the bar before evading Crane and eventually
cleared. Mason and Warren both went close with headers for the Robins but with
Felixstowe defending their lead in depth the second period failed to live up to
the
first. The
highlight for the Seasiders was the introduction of Matt Mackenzie for his First
Team debut.
With the game two minutes into time added on Dale Archer, who had been lively since coming off the bench, fired home low inside Nower's left hand upright to set up a grandstand finish. A succession of corners followed with three goal-line clearances required to keep the ball out when an equaliser looked certain. For the home side it came too late with the final whistle providing relief and three points for the visiting team.

Needham Market (0-2)
Blake Saker scored an injury time goal on his debut
for the Seasiders but Needham already had the points safely in the pocket thanks
to two goals in each half. Smy and
Parker provided a comfortable half time lead for
the visitors before Berry pulled the a goal back on
the hour for the Seasiders as they improved in the second period.
Phillips and Barber
put the game beyond the home side before Saker
scored the late consolation.
Seasiders: Nower, Inglis, Saker, Wright, Blewer, Bell, Berry, Barber, Crane, Claydon
(Butcher 67), Driver (Hampson 45).
Unused subs: Andrade, Haighton.
Needham Market: Jones,

Blake Saker, signed mid-week from Leiston came into the starting line up for the
Seasiders as they emerged through the new players gate for the first time.
Needham took full advantage of the strong wind at their backs in the first half
placing pressure on the Seasiders from the first whistle. Saker cleared Phillips
shot off line but the pressure was maintained and after a number of shots were
blocked Danny Smy fired home to open the scoring on
three minutes pictured. Saker cleared from Thrower's corner and Felixstowe started to
pass their way against the strong wind into the Needham half with Jones comfortably saving from Berry on
15 minutes. Jones collected the ball from Bell's header following a
free kick as
they looked to ease the threat to the home goal but on 22 minutes the lead was
doubled.
Nower saved well to deny Boyland's initial shot but Needham were available in
numbers with Craig Parker first to the ball before
the home side could clear pictured.
Facing
driving rain Felixstowe built steadily with some neat build up play but
it was the visitors that went closest to extending their lead as the interval
approached with Phillips heading away from the home goal when well
placed to
score.
Hampson replaced Driver at the break and brought an early save from Jones and
with wind advantage now with the home side Jones produced another save to deny
Wright before Paul Berry volleyed home from ten
yards on the hour to bring the contest to life. Barber went close as Felixstowe
pushed forward with enthusiasm but the defensive frailties were
once again
exposed as Needham quickly switched defence into attack for
Danny Philips to drill his shot home unchallenged
with 15 minutes remaining.
A scramble in the Needham goalmouth saw the ball come back off a post as
Felixstowe showed plenty of attacking potential before
Rhys Barber scored Needham's fourth seven minutes from time.
In injury time Blake Saker produced a stunning shot from 20 yards to reduce the
deficit but the visitors finished worthy winners.

Manager Glen Driver scored within a minute of
coming off the bench to inspire his side to victory in an entertaining local
derby at Notcutts Park.
Crane opened the scoring for the Seasiders on 25
minutes with Miller equalising three minutes before
the break in a fast paced and open game. A stunning free kick from
Seaman four minutes after the restart put the home
side ahead and Seamer had an excellent opportunity to increase the lead before
Driver equalised on 69 minutes and
Berry's dazzling feet saw him skip past three
defenders to score the winner ten minutes from time.

Hampson and Wright came into the starting line up for the Seasiders with Blewer suspended and Andrade on the bench the changes from Tuesday's trip to Tiptree.
In warm sunshine both sides earned early corners with keepers collecting the
flag kicks comfortably. Bell produced a timely interception to cut out the
threat of Seamer before Seamer headed over Sargent's cross as the the home side
enjoyed a good spell of pressure. Nower spread himself to block Brimstead
from close
range
pictured before Felixstowe began to develop their
play through midfield with Berry striking a post and Claydon close before the
opening goal came on 25 minutes,
Following neat build up play Wright crossed from the left for Gavin Crane to head home at the far post. Felixstowe were on top at this stage but two minutes before the interval Driver's blocked shot found Woodbridge Captain Ben Miller in space on the left of the area to place a well struck shot past Nower for the equaliser.
Picture shows 1st half goal scorers Miller & Crane.
Ben Seaman's sweetly struck free-kick four minutes
after the restart would have beaten any keeper, brushing angle of post and bar
as it curled in with pace to give Woodbridge the lead
.
Crane and Wright both went close to scoring an equaliser with Nower saving from
Lewis Driver and Seamer on the break creating but then missing a good chance to
extend the lead for the home side.
Glen Driver replaced Crane forcing a save from Rose
with
his
first touch and moments later released by Berry fired home the equaliser on 69
minutes.
The momentum was now with the visitors and former Woodbridge favourite Paul Berry danced his way passed three defenders to score the winner ten minutes from time. pictured
In a frantic last ten minutes Bell headed onto the home bar pictured and Claydon struck a post while at the other end Stuart saw his header saved on the line and Childs made two crucial challenges as Woodbridge substitutes Rea and Hart threatened. Felixstowe resisted the Woodpecker's late charge to collect the points from an entertaining and sportingly contested local derby.

The Jam makers recovered from two goals down to record an emphatic
win with four goals in a fifteen minute spell early in the second half to put
the Seasiders to the sword.

There was little to suggest such a reversal of fortunes at the break after
Felixstowe had played with pace and purpose in the first period. Ellwood and
Berry combined on twelve minutes with Gavin Crane
firing home from six yards and when Andy Claydon
drilled the ball from a tight angle into an unguarded net, following
Rutherford's failed clearance under pressure, the prospects looked good for the
visitors.
A through ball from the impressive Lay to Underwood just before the half-hour
mark split the Felixstowe defence with Ellwood bringing down Underwood from
behind allowing George Lay to reduce the deficit
from the spot kick. The visitors defended in depth as Tiptree pressed for
an equaliser but defended well and looking dangerous on the break retained the
lead to the break.
Tiptree moved up a gear after the interval with Felixstowe guilty of giving the
ball away cheaply and allowing space and time down the flanks for the home side
seemingly to score at will. Three minutes after the restart Wareham crossed from
the right for Lee Underwood to equalise and two
minutes later Wareham again crossed for Underwood
to claim his second and the lead.
A spell of pressure followed for Felixstowe without result and on the break
Steve Wareham ran on unchallenged to slide home the
fourth on 58 minutes. Five minutes later Lay was allowed time and space in the
area to pick out Underwood for his hat-trick. Nower
saved acrobatically to deny Lay and Berry brought a splendid save from
Rutherford at the expense of a corner before Nathan Clarke
increased the lead with a volley from the right of the area to score off
the far post.
Underwood completed the scoring two minutes from
time taking his personal tally to four and recording a magnificent seven for
Tiptree.

Two goals inside the last ten minutes from Gavin Crane

Ellwood, for the injured Bloomfield, and Barber and Crane for Cooper and Hampson were the changes from last Saturday's starting line up for the trip to 7th placed Mildenhall. The last visit to the Hall, for an FA Cup tie in August, had seen eight goals conceded, only two players remained from that game and the Seasiders were determined not to see a repeat of that scoreline.
An even first half saw both
keepers make one excellent save apiece with Ben Nower in the Felixstowe goal
rising high to palm Spriggs' free kick over the bar in the 13th minute
pictured after
Sands progress had been blocked, and Paynter showed great athleticism to keep
out Wright's header just before the half hour mark pictured.
The Seasiders had started
brightly winning the first corner of the game on 7 minutes and Paynter in the
home goal reacted quickly to deny Crane before the influential Sands and Spriggs
began to impose themselves on the game.
Sands' runs through midfield and Spriggs'
crosses from the right created openings for the home side with Patterson, Youngs
and Spriggs all going close to opening the scoring in the first period. Claydon
went close and Barber lifted his shot over the home bar as the interval
approached with the home side ahead on points.
Down the slope in the second half Hall enjoyed good possession without creating a clear opportunity until Spriggs on the hour mark produced a telling run and cross from the right which John Sands converted with a diving header at the far par post to take the lead. The advantage was almost doubled shortly after when Barber intercepted another Spriggs cross with the ball striking the Felixstowe cross bar before being cleared. A second yellow for Inglis saw the Seasiders reduced to ten.
Defending well Ellwood, Bell,
Blewers and Childs resisted the home side's efforts to increase their lead with
Berry
going close and providing encouragement that one goal might not be enough.
With seven minutes remaining a long ball into the Mildenhall area and Crane was adjudged to have been unfairly challenged with the Referee pointing to the spot. Gavin Crane picked himself up to fire home the equaliser. Hampson replaced Claydon and was quickly into the action with a run down the right and his cross evaded Harvey for Crane to slot home his second pictured.
Celebrations among the travelling faithful and the defence held firm as Mildenhall went close with Spriggs going close once again but it was not to be their day and the Seasiders retained the lead and the three points.

Glen Driver made three changes from the side that took the points at Broad Lane in midweek with Joe Bloomfield returning after a four match absence through injury and County duty replacing Ellwood, Inglis replacing Barber and Bell returning to the defence with Glen dropping to the subs bench. But after the midweek win it was as you were with the Seasiders defence leaking 5 goals at home for the 2nd successive week.
The visitors took an early grip on the game and never looked likely to relinquish it with the lively Dan Beaumont firing over and then forcing a save from Nower in the opening 10 minutes although Porky Claydon had seen an effort go over the Dereham bar in the opening seconds.
The home defence had to produce three last gasp clearances as the ball ping-ponged in and out of the area before Dereham made their pressure tell in the 15th minute when Jay Eastoe-Smith found himself unmarked from a Willis free kick to head past Ben Nower.
A spell of pressure produced little reward with Tom Childs getting caught off side to halt a promising move and Eastoe-Smith happy to concede a corner to clear the danger from Hampson’s well flighted cross in the 25th minute.
Dereham were soon back in control and in the 29th minute Beaumont produced a classy finish at the far post to curl his effort round Nower as the Seasiders failed to clear the loose ball to add his sides second and the visitors hit what was probably the decisive goal right on 45 minutes when Willis cut the ball back from the dead ball line for Mowbray to stab the ball into an empty net.
There was to be no respite after the break with Joe Bloomfield picking up a yellow card for a foul on Mowbray in the area and Beaumont made it four from the penalty spot in the 50th minute. The end of the scoring came three minutes later when Mowbray’s persistence brought further reward as he charged down Ben Nower’s kick at the edge of the area with the ball rebounding off him to fly past Nower and settle in the bottom corner of the net.

Wivenhoe Town 2 - 3 Felixstowe & Walton United
(1-2)
Playing for an hour with ten men The Dragons deserved some reward for
their determined effort in the strong wind and driving rain with Crane's goal 12
minutes from time claiming all three points for the Seasiders and making it 12
consecutive defeats for the home side.
Seasiders: Nower,
Ellwood, Childs, Wright, Cooper, Blewer, Barber, Berry (Andrade 81), Driver
(Crane 61), Claydon, Hampson (Banya 74).
Unused Sub: Monaghan.
Dragons: Gallbally, Springett, Edgerley, Gould, Robby, Shepherd (Reid 58),
Nolan (Manuel 88), Woods, Griggs (Behell 68), Wright, Rymer.
Referee Mr. Moffatt.
Att: 79
Hit by injuries Glen Driver named himself on the
Felixstowe team sheet and opened his account from Barber's second minute corner.
The lead was short lived as a minute later Wright
fired past Nower and Springett was close from a free kick shortly afterwards as
the home side's confidence grew. Berry on 27
minutes completed a good run with a low shot under Gallbally to regain the lead
and when Edgerley was dismissed for handling Claydon's goal-bound shot on the
line two minutes later the game could have been over. However, Claydon placed
the spot kick over the home bar and Nower had to produce a good save to deny
Wright and maintain a slender lead at the break.
Shepherd and Griggs both went close as Wivenhoe played with spirit and
Griggs brought the sides level just after the hour.
Crane nursing an injury came off the bench and was
on hand to slot the ball home from close range after Claydon had created the
opening on 78 minutes.

Felixstowe & Walton United 0 - 5 Leiston (0-2)
A hat-trick from James Rowe as the visitors enjoyed
a comfortable win at Dellwood Avenue with saves from Ben Nower preventing
a heavier defeat for the Seasiders. Stuart Boardley
ran the game and along with Michael Brothers
provided the nap hand for Leiston. Gavin Crane and Adam Hampson were closest to
scoring what would have been a consolation.
Seasiders: Nower,
Blewer, Childs, Wright, Cooper, Bell, Inglis, Barber, Crane (Banya 75), Claydon
(Hampson 75), Berry (Andrade 81).
Unused Sub: Monaghan.
Leiston: Stannard, Girling, Wardley, Button, Goldfinch, Lowe, Trotter,
Boardley, Brothers, Rowe, Sillett.
Subs: Chenery, Morphew, Palmer, Smith, Warner.
Referee Mr. O'Sullivan.
Att: 189
Wright in the
starting line up and Hampson on the bench were the only changes to last
weeks win over Walsham le Willows indicating that the revolving door may now
have been removed from the home team changing room.
Nower held Brothers' shot after only ten seconds as Leiston started strongly and were ahead in less than two minutes when James Rowe fired across the home goal with the ball nestling inside the far post pictured.

Nower saved from Brothers, Trotter shot over the Felixstowe bar and Nower
produced an excellent save to deny Sillett on five minutes as the home side were
forced to defend in numbers
Rowe ran through the home defence and saw his shot strike a post before
the Seasiders made progress into the Leiston half with Berry bringing a
comfortable save from Stannard.
Rowe went close and Brothers once again saw a shot saved but the expected second
goal proved illusive and the home side
began to gain
effective possession with Berry shooting narrowly wide on 25 minutes following
good build up play involving Barber and Claydon. Stannard held Claydon's shot on
the turn as Felixstowe were starting to ease their way into the game but eight
minutes before the break Leiston doubled their lead. Wardley made ground down
the right and after his well struck shot was saved by Nower
Michael Brothers was first to the loose ball to
fire home.
Despite Leiston controlling the match Felixstowe still felt that a goal could
change the whole complexion of the game and went hunting for a reply after the
break with Stannard forced to make an excellent save to deny Crane from close
range.
Decisively on 68 minutes a rash challenge from Blewer produced a second yellow
card and Felixstowe were reduced to ten men. Stuart
Boardley fired home the resulting free kick to effectively end the game
as a contest.
Substitutes
were introduced from both sides and with ten minutes remaining Hampson's shot
was blocked by the Leiston defence and from the clearance
James Rowe ran on to score his second and with a minute remaining
Rowe claimed his hat-trick and a comfortable three
points for the visitors.

Felixstowe & Walton United 1 - 0 Walsham
le Willows (0-0)
A 70th minute goal from Kevin Inglis, scored
directly from a free-kick, separated the sides in the Suffolk derby at Dellwood Avenue.
The visitors enjoyed the better of the first half with Nower in the home goal
making a number of fine saves to deny Tatham and maintain parity at the break.
Claydon struck a post as Felixstowe moved up a gear in the second half but in a
game where defences dominated scoring opportunities were at a premium and it
took an excellent free kick to break the deadlock.
Seasiders: Nower,
Blewer, Childs, Inglis, Cooper, Bell, Berry,
Barber, Crane, Claydon, Hampson (Wright 60).
Unused Subs: Andrade, Monaghan.
Walsham le Willows: Lynn, Simm, Cusack, Clarke, Nocton, Partridge, Canfer,
Fosters, Ross, Tatham, Musgrove.
Subs: Holder, Brown, Thorrold, Curtis.

Dean
Cooper pictured made his debut, partnering Sean Bell in the middle of the
back four with Tommy Childs coming in at left back for the Seasiders first
league this month on a lovely sunny afternoon, in stark contrast to recent weeks
which had seen bad weather disrupt the fixture programme.
The visitors forced two early corners as they started brightly passing
the ball around well on a good surface. Tatham brought a good save from Nower in
the home goal and Musgrove saw his shot on the turn clear the Felixstowe bar as
Walsham threatened to open the scoring. The battle in midfield in a closely
fought game threatened to overheat with two names going in the Referees note
book from each side to calm proceedings.
With half time approaching Berry and Barber began to impose themselves with
Crane profiting from better possession to see his goal-bound shot blocked by
Cusack at the expense of a corner. Berry danced his way into the area with his
shot comfortably held by Lynn in the Walsham goal to see the game goal-less at
the break but with the visitors enjoying their half time cup of tea the greater.
Felixstowe stepped up their game in the second period and Claydon saw his shot
across the Walsham goal beat keeper Lynn before striking the far post and Lynn
was grateful for the opportunity to pounce on the rebound. Childs went close
with a free kick and the inclusion on Wright from the bench on the hour added
extra spark to the home side's attacking options with two corners quickly won
and Wright's shot blocked by a defensive wall.

Lynn was quickly off his line to deny Crane and on 70 minutes the deadlock was
broken when Kevin Inglis struck an excellent free
kick that flew past Lynn into the back of the net. Thorrold, Brown and Holder were
introduced for Walsham but the Felixstowe defence stood firm to record their
first clean sheet since December. Lynn with the aid of the near post did well to
keep out Barber's
corner
pictured and saved well to deny Inglis his second as the clock ran down and
the Seasiders claimed the points to move into 12th place in the table.

On his debut Duane Wright scored the
first and last for the Seasiders as they shared eight goals with the Fenmen.
Wright opened his account on 13 minutes with
Bell making it two on 19 minutes. A minute later
Setchell scored from the edge of the area to reduce
the lead before an own goal two minutes later restored the two goal advantage.
Four minutes after the restart McManus scored
direct from a free kick for the visitors with Hammond
three minutes later also scoring direct from a free kick for Felixstowe (4-2).
Wright headed home his second from Berry's corner
on 64 minutes before substitute Thompson scoring
the final goal of the game ten minutes from time.

Five changes
from last Saturday's starting line up for the Seasiders. With Bloomfield away
on County duty Inglis started at right back and with Frost, Bailey-Dennis,
Calver and George absent in came Bell, Crane, Barber and Wright who was making
his debut.
On a cold
afternoon the home side made a bright start passing the ball at speed on a good
surface and Hyde in the Wisbech goal was quickly into the action saving twice in the
early stages from the lively Berry pictured. Cobb fired over the
Felixstowe bar on ten minutes from
McManus' cross before Berry saw another shot
blocked at the expense of a corner as the home side continued to
dominate.
The opening goal came on
thirteen minutes when the hardworking Claydon played the ball to the far post for Duane Wright to head home on his debut pictured. Cobb
impressed for Wisbech but Blewer and
Bell prevented any sight of the home goal with Felixstowe increasing their lead
on nineteen minutes. Another corner was whipped in by Berry and when the ball
fell to the advanced Sean Bell he volleyed home
impressively from six yards
pictured.
Wisbech pulled a goal back
within a minute as Felixstowe conceded a corner straight from the restart and
when the ball was not adequately cleared Player Manager
Gary Setchell was on hand at the edge of the area to drill the ball
firmly past Nower in the home goal.

Two minutes later the two goal margin was regained when Inglis' deep cross was
headed by a Wisbech defender past the diving Hyde into his own net. Felixstowe
continued to enjoy the better possession but always looked vulnerable to a break
from the mobile Wisbech forwards.
Nower produced a good save to
deny Cobb shortly after the break and the visitors were back in the contest four
minutes into the second half when Jim McManus found
the back of the net direct from a
free kick 25
yards out. Three minutes later the same scenario was repeated this time by
Felixstowe Captain Luke Hammond (pictured with
mascot Kieran Beckett) as he drilled his free kick home to reclaim the
two goal lead.
An entertaining game continued
to flow from end to end with both sides sensing further goals and Crane saw his strike hit the inside of a Wisbech
post and stay out. On 64 minutes
Felixstowe took a commanding lead as Duane Wright
headed home at the near post from Berry's corner despite frantic defensive
efforts to keep it out.
Wisbech kept pressing with Scott Cumberley forcing a good save from Nower at the
expense of a corner with Lewis Thompson, recently off the bench,
scoring from the
resulting corner kick to give the visitors hope of a late revival. Felixstowe
comfortably held onto their two goal advantage to the final whistle and now look
forward to a trip to the Abbey Stadium next Saturday where they will play CRC.

Felixstowe & Walton United 2 - 3 Lowestoft Town (1-1)
Top of the table Lowestoft Town may
well have had the game won after the opening 20 minutes but had to rely on a
late penalty from Dale Cockrill to claim all three
points. Having scored through Damian Hilton on two
minutes Lowestoft could have run away with the game but the Seasiders dug
deep and thanks to a number of fine saves from Ben Nower forced their way back
into the game with Neil Calver equalising just
after the half hour mark. Calver headed the home
side ahead a minute after the restart and they held the lead until after the
hour mark when Jamie Godbold brought the sides
level. Four minutes from time the pressure told and
Cockrill sealed the win from the penalty spot.

Glen Driver named three
debutants in the starting line up. Luke Hammond, only 24 but a very experienced
player from AFC Sudbury; Adam Bailey-Dennis (18) a loan player on work
experience from Colchester United; and our very own home-grown Liam Butcher (16)
coming in a left back. There must be easier fixtures to make your debut but all
three will be justifiably pleased with their performance.
With Joe Bloomfield returning from Suffolk under 18 duty the back line certainly
had a very youthful look and must be one of the youngest back-lines fielded by a
Felixstowe side.
Following
heavy rain the Groundsman had done an excellent job in getting the pitch into
playable condition and from the kick off Lowestoft were able to produce their
well known brand of flowing football on the true surface. A second minute corner
was not fully cleared and when the ball was delivered back into the area
Damian Hilton was still advanced collecting the
ball to fire home inside Nower's right hand upright.
The Seasiders were having
difficulty getting out of their half with Hunn, Godbold, Stock and McGee testing
the Felixstowe defence but finding Nower in excellent form as the corner count
mounted but the second goal alluded them. It was not until the 20th minute that
Reynolds in the visitors goal touched the ball, cutting out a George cross from
the left.
The Seasiders gradually increased their share of possession but it was always
the Blues that looked likely to increase their lead with Nower making a fine
save at the feet of Godbold from McGee's measured pass and again to deny Stock
following a flowing move from back to front through McGee and Godbold. The
Seasiders continued to work hard and were rewarded on 32 minutes when Neil
Calver pictured headed home from Hammond's precisely placed corner.
Reynolds produced a save to deny Berry with half time approaching but it was
Lowestoft who were left wondering at the interval how their level of possession
had not resulted in a sizeable half time lead.
The
Seasiders stunned Lowestoft within a minute of the restart when Hammond and
Calver combined once again from a corner for Neil Calver
to head the home side into a surprise lead. Lowestoft took time to recover
their shape following the set back and with Felixstowe gaining in confidence an
upset looked possible. Nower made an
excellent save to keep out Hunn's free-kick low at his left post and then was
quickly off his line to block McGee pictured
as the pressure started to increase once more following the introduction of
Poppy. Calver cleared off the line pictured but on 33 minutes
Jamie Godbold slotted home the equaliser
pictured and when Neil Calver received a second yellow card followed by Red
the Seasiders were forced to dig deep to retain a point.
Lowestoft introduced all their subs in search of the winner with Felixstowe defence equal to the task and working very hard for each other, but with four minutes remaining McKenna was brought down in the area and Dale Cockrill made no mistake from the spot kick to claim all three points.
A good performance from the Felixstowe team who will gain many positives from the game after the disappointment of the late defeat has diminished.

Calver off the line

Haverhill Rovers 2 - 1 Felixstowe & Walton United (1-0)
Glen
Driver was left exasperated by a below par performance at Hamlet Croft after the
recent improved performances as bottom of the table Rovers deservedly took all
three points from the game. It was a match packed with incident but
unfortunately little of it actually involving the football.
ROVERS:
Campbell, Hughes, Thomas, Hammond, Kingham, Challis, Marshall (Walker 76) Hunt,
Westcott (Kent 90), Harper (Cowling 86), Cogger.
Unused Subs: Hollingsworth, Banham.
SEASIDERS: Nower,

(Crane 57), Claydon, George (Roper 57).
Unused Sub: Butcher.

Att: 87
The
Seasider’s started brightly with plenty of neat passing on a heavy surface and
for the opening ten minutes the home side were pegged deep in their own half but
other than a deflected shot from Frost they had little to show for their
dominance and the home side, playing a more direct game, began to threaten and
Harper was just over in the 11th with min as he flicked on a long
throw.
Danny George had his effort
blocked and Neil Cogger
twice went close for the home side in a low key first half that was held up when
one of the assistant referees had to receive treatment for a calf injury and it
was in the time added on for that delay that Haverhill took the lead when Nower
got a touch to Cogger’s cross but couldn’t get enough on it to deflect it away
from Martin Westcott who turned the ball home from
close range.
The second half was going much
the same way as the first with the Seasider’s having plenty of possession but
failing to threaten and 13 minutes into the second period Glen Driver made a
triple
substitution
withdrawing Barber, George and Hampson and sending Crane, Andrade and Roper into
the fray. The game was hardly under way again before it was halted for a
prolonged period when the injured assistant ref was unable to carry on with
Haverhill stalwart Steve Brown hastily donning boots to take over.
The Seasider’s began to pose
more of a threat and the Haverhill defence had to work hard to keep their
advantage, Crane had a header blocked and Thomas cleared off the line from
Berry’s cross before Cogger collected a straight red card for an off the ball
incident with Berry for which the visiting player collected a yellow.
Pressing forward the Seaside’s were caught out in the 88th minute when a clearance out of defence put Martin Westcott away on the left and with no challenge he had time to set himself and rifle home the second past a stranded Ben Nower.
With the game looking all over the Seasider’s finally came to life forcing the pace of the game with Porky Claydon pictured right reducing the deficit 7 minutes into time added on but a further two minutes was not enough to salvage a point from a game that left the visiting supporters disappointed and no doubt manager Glen Driver frustrated with his sides performance.

Harwich & Parkeston 1 - 3 Felixstowe & Walton United
(0-0)
The Seasiders resisted a late charge from the Shrimpers with
Lewis scoring his first goal for the side deep into
injury time to secure the points. Berry broke the
deadlock on the hour after a dazzling run into the Harwich area and when
Claydon doubled the lead ten minutes later the
visitors looked in control until Spindler reduced
the deficit with ten minutes remaining to set up a frantic end to the game.
Harwich & Parkston: Mahoney, Spindler, Johnston, Calver,
Murray, M Stace, Carmichael (Bloss 76), Fitzgibbon, Page, Bethell (Eldridge 76),
Harris.
Unused subs: J Stace, R Pratt, L Good.

Unused subs: Ellwood, Driver.

With Bloomfield on Suffolk duty and Crane injured, Hampson
pictured right and Barber were the two changes to the Boxing Day starting
eleven. Roper moved to full back with Calver partnering Bell in midfield with
Hampson wearing the number 9 shirt.
The visitors
started brightly with Mahoney producing an early save to deny Claydon left
from Berry's corner. Frost fired over from distance and Hampson headed over the
bar from Roper's cross as Felixstowe pressed forward in numbers on a good
surface despite the cold afternoon.
Harris produced the home sides first opportunity on fourteen minutes breaking
down the left before strike a powerful shot across the visitors goal but wide of
the far post. Page number 9 below went close from a free kick as the
Shrimpers enjoyed a good spell with Nower saving at the expense of a corner to
turn away Page's twenty yard shot on eighteen minutes.
Bethell had a shot deflected wide and the impressive Harris broke from the
halfway line to be denied at the second attempt by Nower as he looked certain to
score.
Claydon went close and Murray blocked Barber's shot on the line as Felixstowe
enjoyed a spell of pressure but Harwich finished the half strongly with
Felixstowe scrambling the ball clear following a corner.
Harwich keeper Mahoney excelled in the opening minutes of the second half with
saves from Claydon and Berry and when Barber's shot ran loose in the area five
minutes after the restart Claydon pounced and looked certain to score but once
again Mahoney stood in the way producing another good save.
Despite their
possession Felixstowe were unable to find a way through the Harwich defence
until the hour mark when Paul Berry pictured
produced a dazzling run down the left and produced a shot that even Mahoney
could not save.
Ten minutes later the lead was doubled. Following a Harwich attack Berry won the
ball on the edge of his own
area and neat interplay with Barber and Claydon resulted in
Porky Claydon firing home the second.
Fitzgibbon shot wide as Harwich pressed in search of a reply with substitutes
Bloss and Eldridge looking to tilt the balance away from the visitors. The
Felixstowe
defence held firm and looked in control until ten minutes from time when
Marley Spindler found space on the right and kept
his composure well to slide the ball under the advancing Nower to set up a tense
last ten minutes for the visitors.
Harwich threw everything forward with Murray going close and Martin Calver
placed his shot over the Felixstowe but also over the bar as time ran down and
Felixstowe defended in depth. With the clock running down a quick break away saw
Felixstowe outnumber the home defence and Andy Lewis calmly stroked home the
third goal to confirm the points and the Seasider's fourth win in five games.

Whitton United 0 - 2 Felixstowe & Walton United (0-1)
Goals from Andy Claydon and
Tommy Childs saw the Seasiders end 2008 on a high note with three wins
from the last four games.
Whitton: Waters, Hall, Clarke, Inglis, Andrews, Cooper
(Thompson 83), Canfer, Trevivian, Wright, Szyszlyic (Wilcox 23), Jackson.
Felixstowe: Nower, Bloomfield, Monaghan, Frost, Bell, Roper, George
(Ellwood 80), Calver, Crane (Hampson 65), Claydon, Berry (T. Childs 65).
Unused subs: Stanley, Lewis.
Att: 156
Referee: Adrian Oldershaw
The Seasiders kicked off up the slope and into the low sun on a clear but
bitterly cold Boxing Day morning at King George V Playing Field against a
Whitton side one point and three places below them in the Premier Division
table. Bloomfield started in place of Stanley with Calver replacing the ill
Bradley Barber.
Whitton had the first opportunity, Nower having to palm away Kevin Inglis' free
kick. From the resultant corner, Danny George broke away with pace and his cross
was met by Neil Calver who failed to get enough power to his shot.
Another cross from the lively George was headed wide by Crane in the 5th minute.
The Seasiders continued to boss the game against an uncertain Whitton defence, a
succession of corners came to nothing and in the 17th minute Berry crossed for
Claydon who shot on the stretch but was straight at Waters in the Whitton goal.
A minute later Crane should have opened the scoring but shot high and wide when
well placed.
The goal finally came two minutes later. Porky Claydon
collecting a long ball, advanced towards goal and stroked the ball across Waters
and inside the far post. It was no more than Felixstowe deserved and Berry came
close to making it two but placed the ball narrowly wide after good build up
play from Calver and Claydon.
Whitton suffered a blow on 23 minutes when Nathan Szyszlyic departed in an
ambulance after his foot appeared to get stuck in the ground and twisted his
knee.
This setback seemed to spur Whitton on and they started to cause problems up
front whilst still looking vulnerable at the back. A poor back pass by Calver
put Ronaldo Wright in on goal and after beating Nower, Roper was on hand to
clear off the line. Thomas Jackson then showed terrific speed to go past
Monaghan but Roper again was there to clear the danger. Nower then had to be
alert, punching clear from a cross whipped in by Whitton who finished the half
strongly.
The second half started with Claydon going close to extending Felixstowe's lead,
just failing to get a touch at full stretch from another George ball across the
face of goal.
Paul Berry hit a powerful free kick from 35 yards which Waters parried away and
with Calver quickly closing on the loose ball the home defence cleared the
danger.
George created a good opening which produced a good save from Waters with his
legs and Calver's shot was pushed around the post as the Whitton keeper kept his
side in the game.
The Seasiders survived a scare when, following a foul by Calver, Nower failed to
deal with a free kick from the right and a goalmouth scramble saw Whitton
appealing that the ball had crossed the line but the officials were unmoved.
A double substitution followed with Hampson replacing Crane and Tommy Childs
coming on for Berry who had passed a late fitness test on his leg before the
game.
Tommy Childs made an immediate impact and after
forcing his way into the area on 74 minutes, rolled the ball past the wrong
footed Waters to double the visitors lead. A minute later Childs was close to
making it three, heading just past the post from a long ball pumped forward.
Neil Calver picked up a booking for a rather soft looking foul before Ellwood
replaced George with 80 minutes on the clock. Dean Cooper limped off for Whitton
with 7 minutes remaining, being replaced by Gary Thompson, the Whitton
player/Manager who was taking charge for the final time after agreeing to move
to Tiptree as Assistant Manager.
Calver shot over the bar as the game reached a conclusion and Whitton ended with
10 men after another injury and having used both their substitutes.
A rather scrappy game in truth, well officiated by Adrian Oldershaw. Felixstowe
were the better team but made hard work of the win against a battling Whitton
side who never gave up but apart from a spell before half time failed to create
enough chances.
Three good points and a clean sheet for the Seasiders who made it 9 points from
the last 12 to move up to 14th place, 7 points clear of the bottom 3.

Felixstowe & Walton United 0 - 2 King's Lynn Res.
(0-1)
The
visitors were ahead inside two minutes as Ross Kelly
guided his shot over the advanced home keeper from distance. Good build up play
from both sides followed but solid defences ensured scoring opportunities were
kept to a premium until Lewis Osborn broke through
the Felixstowe back line mid-way through the second half to secure a deserved
win for the Linnets.

Referee: Lee Betts.
Following
two wins Manager Glen Driver named an unchanged side for the visit of Kings Lynn
Reserves to Dellwood Avenue on an overcast but dry and calm afternoon.
Bloomfield, returning from Suffolk Under 18 duty, was named on the bench.
The visitors, in a sporting game quietly controlled by Mr Betts who was not
required to produce a card, got off to the best possible start with a goal
inside two minutes. Ross Kelly, lively on the ball
throughout the game, spotted the home keeper well advanced and produced a
dipping shot from 30 yards which cleared the stretching Nower to nestle in the
home goal.
No strangers to conceding an early goal Felixstowe responded
positively with Berry's shot blocked following a good run from George and
moments later Aix saved at a post to deny George's header from Stanley's cross.
Kelly and Nicholls found space down the Felixstowe flanks with Dwyer and Harper
producing good movement to keep the home defence on their toes. A good spell of
pressure from the Seasiders earned three quick corners with Leggett and
Spittlehouse first to the balls placed by Barber into the Linnets area. Just
after the half hour Dwyer and Kelly linked well and when Nower parried Dwyer's
shot
Deadman pounced with Roper clearing his goal bound shot off the line.
Crane went closest to equalising when his header from Barber's free kick on the
right flew just the wrong side of the far post with Aix beaten as half time
approached.
Defences dominated after the break with Claydon's low shot, which produced a good save from Aix, the nearest the home side came to scoring in the second period. Both sides made substitutions with the Linnets introduction of Lewis Osborn producing a significant impact as has slipped through the previously steadfast home back line to slide a through ball under the diving Nower from 16 yards mid-way through the half.
Felixstowe pressed forward with Berry close from a free kick at the edge of the area but the visitors remained well organised and saw out time for a well deserved win.

Felixstowe & Walton United 3 - 0 Harwich & Parkeston
(1-0)
It was a credit to the Groundsman and his staff that this game went
ahead when all around were being cancelled. As the sides began the match on a
flat waterless surface, the howling gale and rain blowing in from the Dellwood
end made sure there was a sparse crowd, with only the most hardy braving the
conditions for their afternoon dose of non-league football.
It was also a great credit to both sets of players that despite the conditions
they produced an entertaining match with plenty of endeavour and no little skill
in almost impossible conditions. Credit must also go to referee Carl Fitch and
his assistants who took the conditions into consideration when making decisions
with no cards being produced throughout the game.
Seasiders: Nower, Stanley, Monaghan, Frost, Roper,
Bell, Barber, Berry (Calver 74), Crane (Hampson 68), Claydon, George (Childs
75).
Unused Subs: Edwards, Noon.
Shrimpers: Munson, Hewitt (Pratt 73), Johnson, Bloss,
Stace M., Warren, Carmichael, Calver, Stace J., Bethell, Wake.
Unused Subs: King, Andre, Harris.
Att:51
Referee: Carl Fitch.
The Seasiders kicked off with the wind at their backs and the first half was
pretty much played in the Harwich half with the driving wind and rain at the
home sides backs. Glen Driver had just one change to his starting line up from
the side that took the points at Stanway in mid-week, with Danny Stanley taking
over the right back spot in place of Joe Bloomfield, who was away on County
Youth duty.
The Seasiders won the first of 14 first half corners in the 2nd minute with Paul
Berry swinging the ball in from the left but Harwich defended resolutely and
with 20 minutes on the clock they had denied the home side getting in a direct
shot on Munson’s goal.
For the Shrimpers Darren Bethell looked to probe and prod at the home defence
whenever the opportunity presented it self, and although they were few and far
between, it was the visitors who produced the first real effort on goal from
either side. It came in the 21st minute when Harwich broke out and worked the
ball down the right and John Stace picked out Ben Wake with a cross field pass
but his effort was wide of Ben Nower’s goal.
Four minutes later the Seasiders were ahead when Harwich conceded a free kick 25
yards out, it was the home side’s third free kick in the dangerous area around
the 18 yard box, but while the first two came to nothing, the third was decisive
as Gavin Frost drove his 25 yard effort low and
true past Munson into the bottom corner of the net.
The goal was no more than the home side deserved but when Bradley Barber shot
wide in the 36th minute and Andy Claydon latched on to a long clearance but
lifted his effort over Munson and the bar a minute later, it looked ominous for
the second half with the slender lead and the wind at the visitors backs.
Although Mark Morsley was away, his side must have been satisfied with their
first half performance and enjoyed their half time cuppa while the Seasiders
were planning a defensive rearguard action but what transpired was a complete
reversal of that scenario.
From the restart the home side got the ball on the ground and moved it with neat
interchanges, within a minute Claydon had been pulled down on the edge of the
area with Berry driving the free kick wide but within 5 minutes they had
extended their lead through Claydon. Collecting the ball on the half way line
Paul Berry made ground before feeding Danny George on the right, although under
close attention George worked an opening and delivered a superb low cross into
the Harwich six yard box and Porky Claydon
gratefully accepted the opportunity to turn the ball beyond Munson.
Harwich looked for a reply and on the hour Wake made space to cross but John
Stace headed wide of Munson’s goal and a minute later it was 3-0 as the
Seasiders again put together a flowing move that produced almost a carbon copy
of the second goal with George delivering the telling cross and
Porky Claydon again adding the finish.
Bethell did rattle the home post with a 30 yard effort and Stace sent a looping
header over the home bar as The Shrimpers searched for a reply and with 15
minutes to go the visitors exerted their first real pressure on the Seasiders
defence, but there was plenty of resolution and determination to make sure that
there was to be no late fright for Glen Driver’s side.
In the end it was an excellent result and performance from the home side as they
recorded back to back victories for the first time this season.

Stanway Rovers 3 - 5 Felixstowe & Walton
United (0-3)
Goals a-plenty to warm the small crowd on a cold night but this game
should have carried a health warning, especially for the travelling Felixstowe
supporters. Two goals from Crane on his return to
the Seasiders following an unstoppable shot from Barber
gave the visitors what should have been a comfortable half time lead, but the
barmy army know better.
Stanway dug deep and showing great character drew level in a seven minute second
half spell with goals from Sharpe,
Drennan and Newson.
The writing was on the wall but Felixstowe were not to be denied with two
strikes from Berry pulling them clear as they hung
on for three vital points to move out of the relegation places.
Rovers: Church, R Norfolk, Curtis, Drennan, Owen, L
Norfolk, B Newson, Cheeks (Sharpe 50), Newson, Challender, Harewood,
Unused Subs: Salter, Burch.
Seasiders: Nower, Bloomfield, Monaghan, Frost, Roper, Bell, Barber

Unused Subs: Childs, Noon.

Att: 55
Latest signings Gavin Crane and Danny George went straight into the starting
line up and and produced telling contributions as Felixstowe held the upper hand
in the first half.
George had the first shot on goal after eight minutes with Keeper Church
producing a good save at the expense of the first corner of the game. Four
corners followed for the Seasiders without result before Nower was called into
action in the Felixstowe goal to deny Harewood as Stanway broke quickly.
With Barber and Berry pulling the strings in midfield and Claydon, Crane and
George making telling runs in attack the visitors produced a number of openings
before Bradley Barber on 29 minutes produced an
unstoppable shot from the edge of area that would have beaten any keeper.
Capitalising on a good spell of pressure two more goals came in five minutes.
Berry fed George down the right and his cross was powerfully headed home by
Gavin Crane for the second and when Church failed
to hold Claydon's shot Crane was on hand to rattle
the ball home from close range.
In a purple patch Felixstowe could have gone further ahead as Claydon headed
onto the bar and Curtis cleared off the line leaving the home side thankful for
the half time whistle.
Frost and George could have wrapped the game up with a fourth after the interval
but Church made comfortable saves and the game took a decisive turn when
Nathan Sharpe came off the bench five minutes after
the restart went straight into the Felixstowe area for a corner and headed home
from Lee Norfolk's corner. The game was now very much on and five minutes later
Al Drennan scored the second from ten yards as
Nower failed to hold a deep free kick. Two minutes later it was all square as
Ben Newson sprang defence into attack to run and
score unchallenged.
Looking all at sea it was now Felixstowe's turn to show true grit and arrest the
tide. Both sides were pressing for the win and in a good spell for the visitors
Bloomfield worked his way into the area for Paul Berry
to drill home inside Church's right hand post. Roper cleared off the line
to prevent Newson equalising before Paul Berry
scored his second and Felixstowe's 5th with 20 minutes remaining.
Stanway pressed for a reply with Nower producing an excellent save to deny Lee
Norfolk and with the defence showing great resolve they kept their lead to the
final whistle for a well deserved three points.

Felixstowe & Walton United 1 - 4 Histon Reserves
(1-1)
An open and even first half with both sides creating numerous chances
saw the game all square at the break after Frost
opened the scoring for the home side on 14 minutes and
Wilson fired home the equaliser just seconds before the interval whistle.
Histon dominated after the break and following
Charolambous' successful penalty kick on the hour there was only going to
be one
outcome.
Three minutes later Okay headed home unchallenged
with Kennedy scoring the fourth to complete a
disappointing last few days for the Seasiders.
Seasiders: Nower, Edwards (Bloomfield 83), Monaghan, Frost, Roper, Bell, Barber
(Hampson 68), Stanley, Williams, Claydon, Berry.
Unused Subs: Childs, Noon.
Histon: Cowell, Camerone, J Young, Dolby, Okay, W Young (Charolambous

The Seasiders welcomed Paul Berry back to the club following his
transfer from Needham Market last week and he went straight into the starting
eleven for a very
important fixture against a side six places but only three points above the
Seasiders at start of play.
On a sunny but cold afternoon the game started at pace with both sides
looking to move the ball quickly on a good surface. Wilson & Kennedy carved a
number of openings for the visitors with Nower producing a good save to deny
O'Brien's header at the expense of a corner in the sixth minute. From the corner
Felixstowe turned defence into attack with Frost looping his shot
over
both keeper and bar.
Histon keeper Cowell saved comfortably from William's shot before Frost put the
home side ahead on 14 minutes.
A deep free kick from the left went through to Bell at the far post and he
pulled the ball back to Gavin Frost who stooped to
head home from close range pictured.
Histon went close to an immediate reply as Bell cleared off the line via a post
to deny the dangerous Wilson. Will Young placed his shot wide moments
later from Jordan Young's good through ball and after Wilson's speed had once
again opened up the home defence his shot went just wide of the far post.
Berry linked well with Bell to produce a good opening for Williams with Cowell
quick to deny the Felixstowe forward's header on goal. Two Excellent saves from
Nower denied Tidswell and O'Brien and looked to have secured a half time lead
before Jordan Wilson struck with seconds remaining
to deservedly bring the visitors level.
After the break
the visitors stepped up a gear but once again failed to convert the
opportunities they created with Tidswell heading over when unchallenged four
yards out from O'Brien's cross, when it looked easier to score, and Sparks fired
over the Felixstowe bar after Wilson had carved his way through an absent home
defence. Felixstowe eventually brought about their own demise when a poor back
pass put Nower under pressure and Edwards in attempting to clear the ball
brought down Tidswell in the area. Alexis Charolambous,
who had only been on the field for a few minutes stepped up to stroke home the
penalty kick.
The home side looked a shadow of their first half display and allowed
Erkan Okay to rise unchallenged to head home from
Sparks' corner kick on 62 minutes. Nower produced another good save to deny
O'Brien but Neil Kennedy was first to the loose
ball to fire home the fourth for the visitors five minutes from time.
After a competitive first half the Seasiders fell away in the second period to
be well beaten by a fast moving Histon side. The Seasiders will look to build on
the positive aspects of the first period when they travel to Stanway on Tuesday
evening.

Needham Market 4 - 3 Felixstowe & Walton United (2-2)
A thoroughly entertaining game from the first minute to the last, just a
pity one team had to lose. Behind after only 8 seconds, without a Felixstowe
player having touched the ball, the Seasiders fought back to hold the lead twice
in a pulsating encounter before Needham snatched the points seven minutes from
time.
Needham Market: Jones, Pemberton, Agricole (Boyland 46), Denniss, Bailey,
Barber, Evans (Parker 46), Horlock, Smy (Sparkes 77), Bexfield, Thrower.
Unused Subs: Dixon, Butler.
Seasiders: Nower, Bloomfield, Monaghan, Frost, Roper, Bell, Barber, Edwards
(Childs 37), Williams, Claydon, Hampson.
Unused Subs: Ellwood, Haighton, Noon.
Referee: Mr Fisher
Att: 167
There was a
good crowd on miserable afternoon weather wise with a closing fog threatening to
cause problems, but it never deepened while the pitch had to have an early
inspection and the referee must have had a difficult and marginal decision to
declare it playable. Despite the weather and the playing surface those watching
were treated to a 7 goal thriller with the direction of the points in the
balance until the final whistle.
The home side had Craig Parker on the bench after a long lay off through injury
while Glen Driver's new look side had Grant Monaghan pictured left making
his debut at left back in place of the departed Paul Betson who had been
released earlier in the week. Also missing from the Seasiders line up was
leading scorer Danny Phillips who had been placed on the transfer list on
Thursday and mid-week signing Paul Berry, transferred in from Needham but
unavailable by agreement until after this game.
Most of the Seasiders games this season have produced talking points and this
was probably the highlight with Needham’s Danny Thrower
celebrating right producing a stunning start to the game as he rifled in
a speculative 35 yard shot that rattled the inside of the post before hitting
the net, with the debate between those who saw it over the time elapsed being 6,
7 or 8 seconds.
Having been rocked by the early set-back the Seasiders then showed
great
character, a trait missing in the early part of the season, to dig in and take
the game to the home side and it was no more than they deserved in the 13th
minute when Chris Williams played the ball through to Andy
Claydon and he showed strength to make ground into the Needham area and
guide the ball wide of Jones for the equaliser.
Jay
Denniss drove an effort wide in the 19th minute as both sides battled
to master the treacherous surface as well as their opposition but it was the
visitors who were making the best of it and they deservedly grabbed the lead in
the 33rd minute. A good ten minute spell of neat football finally
produced a corner and from
Barber's flag kick Claydon got the final touch in a
packed goalmouth to score his second of the game pictured.
Edwards limped out of the action in the 37th minute with a groin
strain to be replaced by Tommy Childs and it was all square at the break as
Needham hit back through former Seasider Danny Smy
who produced a top class finish at the far post as the visitors were guilty of
failing to clear their lines from a corner.
Parker
and Boyland, another recent signing for the Market men, replaced Evans and
Agricole at the break but they had hardly got warm before the Seasiders restored
their advantage with a firm header
by
Shaun Bell from a Bradley Barber corner in the 49th
minute as he planted it wide of Jones.
The influential Parker began to take control of the midfield, stretching the
visitors defence and in the 66th minute Needham were back on terms as
Thrower grabbed his second of the game as the
visitors were again undone
from a set piece.
Both sides created openings in an end to end spell but it was the home side that finished the game the stronger and with just 7 minutes left on the clock Rhys Barber found the finish to undo the visitors defence and give his side all three points from a match that was a brilliant advert for Ridgeons League football.
Seasider’s manager Glen Driver was left bitterly disappointed with the defeat but he will not have been downhearted following his sides gritty display and will be confident of better times to come if the side can reproduce this kind of performance on a regular basis.

Felixstowe & Walton United 2 - 2 Haverhill Rovers
(2-1)
Bottom side Haverhill came from behind twice to win a point away from home as
the Seasiders played out their first drawn game of the season.
Seasiders: Nower, Bloomfield (D Mills 80), Betson, Frost,
Roper, Bell, Barber, Hampson (Williams
71), Phillips, Claydon, Childs (Edwards 61).
Unused Subs: Carnell.

Referee: Mr Symonds
Att: 75

It was woolly hat weather at Dellwood Avenue this
afternoon as we welcomed Haverhill Rovers to Dellwood Avenue. Keeper Ben Nower
was making his home debut and latest signing Mark Roper right went
straight into the side to partner Sean Bell in the middle of the back four.
Felixstowe
started on the front foot with visiting keeper Cutts making a good save at the
expense of a corner to deny Frost and the home side's pressure was rewarded on
13 minutes when Hampson's cross was headed into the danger area by Childs and
Andy Claydon pictured headed home the
opening goal.
Felixstowe forced a number of corners keeping the Haverhill defence busy with a
shot well over the Felixstowe bar from Kent on 16 minutes providing the visitors
first meaningful threat.
Despite the early pressure Felixstowe failed to build on their advantage and
following Haverhill's first corner of the game on 26 minutes the home side
failed to clear the danger and Challis' clever ball from the edge of the area
was header over Nower and into the net for the equaliser by
Ben Cowling.
Encouraged Haverhill enjoyed a good spell with Challis going close before the
best move of the game from the Seasiders ended with a left foot shot from
Tommy Childs to put the side ahead a minute before
the break.
T
he second
half was a scrappy affair not helped by near blizzard conditions but before the
weather deteriorated Martin Westcott was on hand to
score from close range following a corner four minutes after the restart.
Westcott went close to snatching the lead six minutes later when his curling
shot beat the Felixstowe keeper but cannoned off the angle of post and bar.
Thomas headed over following a free kick as Haverhill pushed for a win with
Felixstowe finishing the game strongly as Barber went close and Cutts made a low
save to deny Claydon two minutes from the final whistle.

Wroxham 3 - 2 Felixstowe & Walton United
(3-1)
In an open game there was no shortage of goal mouth action or
controversy at Trafford Park. Three new signings went straight into the
Seasiders starting line up and despite the win the Wroxham Manager resigned
after the game.
Yachtsmen: McAnally, Self, Howes ( Wines 64), Halliday, Carus, Key, White,
Manning, Cook (Muddel 74), Crane, Gilmore.
Unused sub: Challen.
Seasiders: Nower, Bloomfield, Betson, Frost, Bell, Carnell, Barber, Stanley (Hampson

Unused Subs: T. Childs, Crump.

Att: 48
It is an eventful time at present for the Seasiders with plenty going on
both on and off the pitch. Fielding three mid-week signings at Trafford Park in
front of a sparse 48 crowd of which over a dozen had made the trip from the
seaside, the visitors went down to a narrow defeat with a highly controversial
goal and the resignation of the Wroxham manager after the game.
Chris
Williams left a midfield/forward signed from
Whitton United and Ben Nower, goalkeeper, signed from Mildenhall went straight
into the starting line up along with Danny Carnell, making a return to the
Seasiders after a spell at Ipswich Wanderers at the heart of the defence.
Having conceded goals inside two minutes in their last three games Glen Driver and Tony Kinsella were looking to shore up a leaking defence and in the early stages they looked to be on course to do that, carrying the game to Wroxham and creating a couple of half chances themselves with low crosses across the Wroxham goal going unpunished.
Having survived that nervous
opening spell and looking to match the home side they were caught with the
classic counter attack as they forced a
corner on the left that was cleared away to the right and Shaun Howes clearance
upfield caught the visitors defence pushing up with Nower well off his line. The
ball fell kindly for former Seasider Gavin Crane as
he slipped past Bell and Carnell but he was still left with work to do and he
produced a superb lob to lift the ball over the advanced Nower in the 17th
minute and into an empty net from 30 yards.
The goal rocked the visitors
and for ten minutes it was all Wroxham with Paul Cook slicing wide from a good
position to end a flowing move from Keys and Howes. The Seasiders look to have
more resilience about them now and they were level in the 28th m
inute
as they forced a second corner in quick succession, Bradley Barber's initial
flag kick was cleared away but Sean Bell headed the ball back into the danger
area where it was met by Gavin Frost who planted a
firm header pictured beyond Duncan McAnally.
Having got back on terms it
was the controversial time as Wroxham built an attack on the half hour with the
Seasiders struggling to clear their lines, twice the ball was headed away and
pumped back in and on the third clearance from Matt
Halliday the assistant linesman signalled the ball had crossed the line
although it looked well short of the target to put Wroxham back in front despite
the visitors protests and a smiling bunch of home supporters behind the goal.
There was no controversy over Wroxham’s third five minutes before the break when the Seasiders conceded a free kick 25 yards out with Paul Cook pictured getting across his marker to head Andy Keys free kick past Nower from the edge of the six yard box, it was poor defending and a poor goal to concede at a vital time and gave the home side a more relaxed half time cuppa.
Crane headed over in the 53rd
minutes and Andy Keys drove a free kick wide in the 68th minute
before the Seasiders staged a late rally that almost brought them a share of the
spoils. Phillips and Claydon worked an opening only for McAnally to deny Porky
with a brave save at his feet in the 71st minute. Adam Hampson and
Dwayne
Edwards
replaced Danny Stanley and Chris Williams two minutes later and in the 76th
minute the Seasiders had reduced the deficit.
Keys brought down Edwards wide on the Seasiders right and Wroxham failed to clear the danger from Bloomfield's free kick, leaving Dwayne Edwards a clear sight of goal and an opportunity he happily took. The Seasiders pushed forward in search of an equaliser but it was not to be and in the dying moments Muddel on the break hit the Seasiders woodwork and Mower had to save from White to deny Wroxham a flattering scoreline.
Overall an improved and encouraging performance but Glen and Tony know they have a long way to go yet.

Richard Woodrow opened the scoring with 44 seconds on the watch and
Ross King volleyed home the second on ten minutes as the visitors
dominated the first half. Lowestoft keeper Attridge
was at full stretch to palm a cross shot over the bar in between the two goals
but was not tested again in the first half.
Felixstowe plugged away but outplayed in all departments were happy to hear the
half time whistle with Lowestoft having failed to convert the numerous
opportunities they created.
Any hope of a comeback was extinguished just before the hour when a foul was
adjudged by an Assistant to have been in the area and
Darren Cokerill made no mistake for the penalty spot.
The Seasiders continued to work hard for a reply with Tommy Childs and Paul
Betson both striking the Lowestoft bar from distance but it was the Blues who
finished strongly with Danny Crump producing a good save to deny Woodrow just
before the final whistle.

Felixstowe & Walton United 6 - 2 Ely City (4-1)
After going a goal down only two minutes into the game, as Lawrence headed
home for Ely pictured, it all clicked into place for the Seasiders with
two goals in a minute setting them on their way to an impressive victory.
Seasiders: Crump,
D Mills, Betson, Hampson (T Childs 70), Bell, Frost, Barber, Stanley, Phillips

Barber & Stanley pulling the strings in midfield provided the platform and the
openings with Hampson and Edwards linking well down the flanks to provide
Phillips and Claydon quality balls to work with.
In an open game Ely were first onto the attack with Johnson's shot, following a
positive run, turned away for a corner. The home side failed to clear the
resulting corner kick and Ben Lawrence rose high to
head home the opening goal after two minutes pictured.
Ten minutes later Bradley Barber pictured left produced an
outstanding volley from the edge of the area to bring the sides level and within
a minute the Seasiders were ahead with Andy Claydon
firing low under Follen after receiving a
good pass from midfield. The game continued to flow from end to end with
Chadwick and Pettit impressing for the visitors before on 23 minutes Felixstowe
turned defence into attack following an Ely corner. Danny
Stanley, having an excellent first home game for the Seasiders, carried
the ball from his own half to fire home the third pictured right.
Eight minutes before the break Claydon held the ball up well on the edge of the
Ely area before laying the ball off to Danny Phillips
who turned to unleash a sweet volley from the edge of the area for the
fourth.
After the break
Felixstowe were forced to defend as Ely pressed for a reply with Bell going
close with a rising shot over the bar. Phillips headed home but was adjudged off
side on 54 minutes and ten minutes later Pettit's strike for Ely suffered a
similar result with the assistants flag raised to deny a way back into the game.
With twenty minutes remaining Edwards produced a sparkling run with
his cross turned home by Andy Claydon pictured
left from close range for the fifth. Both sides made their full number of
substitutions with Andrew Lewis pictured
coming off the bench to score on his first outing for the 1st Team as he rifled
home the sixth following a powerful run from Barber. A deep cross into the
Felixstowe area in the closing minutes was met by Darren Mills, unfortunately
heading into his own net as he attempted to clear the danger for a second Ely
goal.
A very positive performance from the Seasiders with the fans appreciating the
passing style of football and looking forward to the next game.

Kirkley & Pakefield 3 - 2 Felixstowe & Walton United
(2-0)
Fox's deflected shot 12 minutes from time saw the home side claim all three
points after the Seasiders had recovered from two goals down after only twelve
minutes to draw level in the second half.
Seasiders: Crump,
D Mills (A Mills 61), Bloomfield, Frost, Betson, Bell, Barber, Stanley (Haighton
76), Phillips, Claydon,
Edwards (Hampson 65).
Kirkley & Pakefield: Woodcock, Le Coteau, Tacon, Jefford, Cole, Magee,
Harvey Cooper (Highfield 53), Fox, Stone, Blake, Henderson
Unused subs: Sivell, Stokeld, Tarawaki, Dawson
Referee : Mr A Sanderude.
Attendance: 115
On a wet night
Kirkley got off a to a dream start with a goal from Henderson with just 30
seconds on the watch. Blake ran unopposed from his own half and linked with
Stone before Chris Henderson rattled in the opener
with most players still waiting for their first touch. Crump was quickly to the
edge of his area to deny Harvey-Cooper as the home side broke and moved the ball
quickly.
Frost tested Woodcock in the home goal but on 12 minutes the lead was doubled as
Allicon Blake brushed past Betson's challenge to
fire low under Crump from the edge of the area.
Stone continued to pose danger and his run down the right produced a good
opening for Blake but his header struck the angle of post and bar. Gradually
with the passing and probing of Barber, returning to the club following his
transfer from Hadleigh, Felixstowe impressed themselves on the game obtaining
good possession with Woodcock blocking Phillip's shot as the visitors searched
for a reply.
The home side appeared to lose their momentum after the break with Felixstowe
enjoying a good spell and it was no surprise when another telling pass from
Barber found Danny Phillips at his most lethal
finding the back of the net off post and keeper on 57 minutes. On the hour Bell
headed over from another Barber ball as confidence surged through the visiting
team.
The introduction of Adam Hampson for Edwards had an
immediate impact as with his first touch he volleyed home the equaliser from the
edge of the area from Phillip's clever pass following good build up play down
the left flank. Resisting a succession of corners, as Kirkley searched for a
winner, the visitors looked like they might snatch a result on the break before
Justin Fox's deflected shot on 78 minutes wrong footed the Felixstowe keeper to
ensure Kirkley & Pakefield claimed all three points and stay unbeaten at home.
Felixstowe's commitment to the cause deserved some reward but on this showing we
can look forward to positive results in the near future.

starting line up for the Seasiders were new signings Darren Mills (AFC Sudbury)
and Daniel Stanley (Southend Manor) with Manager Glen Driver naming himself on
the bench. Wivenhoe, despite mid-week changes off the field, named a strong side
for the game that started and progressed in heavy rain.
Both sides passed the ball around well with Wivenhoe winning the first corner
on four minutes and their second shortly after with Betson, brought into centre
half duty, deflecting Underwood's shot wide of the target. Rutherford collected
Edward's shot comfortably at his
near post as Felixstowe mounted a reply and the visitors best opening of the
game was cleared by Churchyard as Philip's broke through dangerously.
Foster struck a Felixstowe post on the half hour and Underwood, first to the
lose ball, should have converted but placed his shot wide of the target.
Crump saved from Goddard's header as the home side pressed to the break and
Frost cleared of the line
to deny Underwood at the expense of corner.
A quick pitch inspection at half time before the game continued with both
sides respecting the conditions without any hint of a poor challenge. Crump
saved from Underwood as once again the home side looked most likely to break the
deadlock but good passing by Mills and the running of Claydon and Phillips
threatened on the break and just before the hour Phillip's had the ball in the
net from Bloomfield's cross but ruled off-side.
The ball started to hold up on a deteriorating surface and on 67 minutes Mr
Steel called for no sides.
A good performance from the Seasiders against strong opposition as they continue to re-build under new Management.

Tuesday 28th October 2008 - Ridgeons League Premier

Felixstowe & Walton United 3 - 4 Tiptree United
(2-2)
Spectators were entertained on a cold evening with a flowing game and
seven goals as the Jam Makers deservedly claimed the spoils from an entertaining
contest.
Seasiders: Crump,
Bloomfield, Betson, Frost, Mills, Haighton, Calver, Hampton (T Childs 69), Phillips, Claydon,
Edwards.

Edwards opened the scoring for the home side on
eight minutes stooping low to head home from Phillip's cross from the left.
Crump saved Coleman's penalty kick on 25 minutes after Coe had been felled but
six minutes later Coleman levelled the score as the
ball ran loose in the Felixstowe area. Tiptree were moving the ball around at
speed and went ahead seven minutes before the interval as
Clarke produced an excellent volley to convert a cross whipped in from
the right.
On the stroke of half time Edwards fired home the
equaliser from ten yards after Gould blocked Claydon's shot and the ball ran
loose in the Tiptree area.
Tiptree enjoyed the better of the second half pressurising Felixstowe into two
defensive errors with Ricks ten minutes after the
restart and Burrell close to full time making the
points safe for the visitors.
Edwards claimed his hat-trick in injury time as
Tommy Child's fierce ball into a crowded Tiptree area was deflected past Gould,
but it was too late for a final twist.

A single goal from Andy Claydon after eight minutes separated the
sides as the new management team recorded a win on their first game in charge.

Glen Driver
having been appointed manager on Friday afternoon watched his new side from the
stands
while
first team coach Tony Kinsella took charge of the team for a game vital to both
clubs. This was a real six pointer with the Planters only league win this season
coming in the reverse fixture when they were comprehensive 3-0 winners at
Plantation Park.
With Joe
Bloomfield on County duty, under 18’s player Kristian Haighton on the ball
left made his first start for the Seasiders along with Tommy Childs
following his recent return to Dellwood Avenue. With Ellwood retaining his right
back spot and two more under 18’s on the bench there was certainly a more
youthful look about the home sides line up.
It was the
visitors who made the brighter start with new signing Kumber firing wide from
distance and Evans pulling his shot across goal in the opening minutes before
Felixstowe came into the match.
The Seasiders first serious attack produced the games only goal in the 8th
min. when Betson’s cross was collected by Danny Phillips whose shot was blocked
by keeper Pauling with Andy Claydon pictured
pouncing on the loose ball as Norwich failed to clear the danger under pressure
and slid the ball past Pauling from a narrow angle.
Childs
drilled his shot wide in the 23rd minute from Phillips pin point
cross and Claydon might have had his second in the 33rd minute but
headed Edwards’s corner just over the Norwich bar.
The visitors looked much livelier after the break with former Seasider Hetherington having replaced Evans in the 41st min. and Crump had to pull off two fine saves while Hull rattled the home bar in a second half that the Seasiders were pleased to see out without conceding an equaliser that would have been almost a certainty a month ago.

** Friday 24th

Tony Barnes has been very impressed by the energies and ideas that this
partnership can bring to the ambitions of The Club in both nurturing and
progressing the Youth talent within the club and providing entertaining Ridgeons
Premier Division Football.
Tuesday 21st October 2008 - Ridgeons League Cup -
First Round
FC Clacton 3
- 2 Felixstowe & Walton United (1-2)
Two goals down inside ten minutes to senior opposition Clacton showed true
grit and determination to recover and deservedly progress to the next round.
Frost and Calver put
Felixstowe into an early lead before Hillier pulled
a goal back on 20 minutes. Danny Crump produced two good saves to keep
Felixstowe ahead at the break but was left unprotected after the interval as
Hillier and Waters
fired the home side ahead within two minutes of the restart. Clacton's movement
and enthusiasm could not be matched by the visitors as the home side threatened
to increase their lead.
Felixstowe: Crump, Mills, Betson, Frost, Ellwood (A
Childs 84), Calver, Bloomfield, Grimwood (T Childs 60), Phillips, Claydon, Edwards (Haighton
68).
Clacton: Rulton, Taylor (White 17), Dunkley, Ribchester, Heighway,
Pereira, Springett, Hilier, Oldhamstead, Waters, Barnett (Auger 90).
Ref: Mr A Oldersham
Attendance: 82
Ellwood came in for the injured Bell for the visit to first division FC Clacton in the league Cup and
the game could not have got off to a better start for the visitors as they
placed one foot in the next round after only nine minutes.
Gavin Frost produced a trade mark shot from just outside the area to
volley home from Edward's cross after seven minutes and two minutes later
Neil Calver doubled the lead heading home from
Frost's corner.
Taylor limped off to be replaced by White after only 17 minutes but the home
side took the game to the visitors with Waters going close, Bloomfield clearing
White's goal-bound effort off the line off the line and Crump saving from
Olhamstead before Paul Hillier pulled a goal back
with an excellent volley from the edge of the area on 20 minutes.
An open flowing half saw chances created at both ends with Rulton touching
Frost's strike onto a post and turning to capture the rebound and Felixstowe
scrambling the ball away after Crump has saved from Dunkley. Barnett's shot just
cleared the Felixstowe bar with the keeper beaten as a frenetic half came to a
close with more goals likely.
Two goals within two minutes of the restart settled the tie, the first coming
from Paul Hillier as he steered the ball over Crump
after the Felixstowe keeper had blocked Waters' initial shot following a quick
break by the home side. Less than a minute later Matt
Waters again broke from the half way line and made no mistake firing home
from the edge of the area.
The movement and running of the Clacton forwards provided plenty of alternatives
for the mid-field who were gaining possession too easily for the away fans
liking. Crump made a double save from Heighway and Oldhamstead before Phillips
tested Rulton in the home goal but the visiting attacks became less frequent and
rarely tested the home defence. The introduction of Tommy & Ashley Childs and
Kristiain Haighton brought urgency to Felixstowe's play but as a team they were
second best to the home sides fluidity with only further saves from Crump to
deny Barnett and White maintaining hope of a late response.
The sending off of Calver and White deep into injury for an off the ball incident marred an otherwise clean game well managed by Mr Oldershaw.
We wish FC Clacton the best of luck in the next round.
Saturday 18th October 2008 - Ridgeons League Premier
Division
Leiston 6 - 0 Felixstowe & Walton United (0-0)
The Seasiders produced a strong first half team
performance to turn round all square but were hit for six in the second period
with Lee McGlone scoring a hat-trick.
Seasiders: Crump, Mills, Betson, Frost, Bell (Ellwood
70), Calver, Bloomfield, Grimwood, Phillips, Claydon (Childs 85), Edwards (Haighton
75).
Unused sub: Hudson
Leiston: Stannard, Girling, Wardley, Head, Goldfinch, Lowe (Morphew 80),

Referee Mr. L. Betts
Attendance 138
With Steve Potts leaving the Club during the week Coach Neil Smye was in
temporary change for the
visit to
Victory Road this afternoon assisted by Chris Howlett. Frost and Mills returned
to the starting line up for the challenging test at in-form Leiston.
The first half saw the Seasiders equal to the challenge, focussing on the game
and their individual roles the team produced a competitive first 45 minutes and
on a good surface both sides moved the ball
around well.
The first telling strike of the afternoon came on 20 minutes from Eagle whose
shot pictured was excellently saved onto a post by visiting keeper Danny
Crump who also swiftly collected the rebound pictured.
McGlone fired wired before Phillips produced
Felixstowe's
best chance of the half with Stannard producing a good save into the side
netting.
Bell, Betson and Mills were composed at the back for the Seasiders with
Bloomfield and Edwards making a number of telling runs down the flanks to test
the home defence,
Head went close from Cunningham's corner and Crump produced
another fine save to deny McGlone at the expense of a corner as half time drew
near but the visitors deserved to be level as the sides went in at the break.
Stannard's save from Phillips as he turned and shot in the area seconds after
the restart proved to be a key point in the game as he was not to be tested
again as the visitors were swept aside by a home side goal fest. Two minutes
into the half Felixstowe failed to clear the ball and Lee
McGlone fired home a low shot that beat
Crump at his
right hand post from the edge of the area.
Chenery headed over from Cunningham's cross and crump saved from McGlone as the
visitors resistance visibly evaporated and it was no surprise when
Marc Lowe doubled the lead on 54 minutes with a
rising drive into the roof of the net.
A spell of pressure from Felixstowe saw Goldfinch clear the ball from Edward's
good run and cross and from the resulting corner
Bell
produced a good header but after Lee McGlone scored
his second following a long ball from defence on 68 minutes it was game over.
McGlone completed his hat-trick a minute later
before being rested along with Lowe and Eagle.
Despite these changes there was to be no respite for the Felixstowe defence as
Leiston poured forward in numbers, Stuart Boardley
firing home the fifth and substitute Chris Sillett
completed the second half rout four minutes from time.
We wish Leiston success next Saturday when they welcome Blue
Square Conference Premier side Lewes to their Victory Road ground in the 4th Qualifying round of the FA Cup.
Saturday 11th October 2008 - Ridgeons League Premier
Division
Felixstowe & Walton United 2 - 1 CRC (0-1)
The Seasiders ended a run of six straight League defeats and bounced back from
their midweek Vase exit to take the points in a keenly fought match with both
sides looking to win the game from first to last whistle.
SEASIDERS Crump, Ellwood (Frost 56Min), Betson, Calver, Bell,
Nash, Bloomfield, Grimwood, Phillips, Claydon, Edwards (Mills 85 Min).
Unused sub: Hollis
CRC: Beagle, McAuley, Oakley, Hudson, Carr, Ives, Eades (Bowe 77), Berry,
Yambusu, Marriott, Patrick
Referee Mr. L.Hipwell

Steve Potts' side set their stall out from the start and within 30 seconds came
close to scoring when Neil Calver played a 1 – 2 with Danny Phillips to open up
the CRC defence but pulled his effort across goal without testing Beagle.
Luke Berry was just over the home bar with an effort in the 7th minute and
Oakley curled a shot just wide on the quarter hour as the visitors enjoyed a
good spell of possession but it was a shock goal the home side conceded in the
19th minute. Dwayne Edwards and Porky Claydon combined for Claydon to deliver a
telling cross that Joe Bloomfield collected before turning inside his marker and
volleying what looked a certain goal, but somehow Beagle got down to smother the
effort in the 18th minute. From the clearance CRC broke away on the right and
Eades crossed low and hard, it looked like a comfortable take for Danny Crump
but he somehow failed to gather and Jordan Patrick
slid the ball home at the far post.
The goal rocked the Seasiders who up to that point had looked comfortable and
CRC grabbed the initiative and only some solid defending by Bell and Nash denied
the visitors increasing their lead before the break.
The second half saw the home side looking much livelier, taking the game to CRC
and within 5 minutes of the restart they were level from the penalty spot. Andy
Claydon worked his way into the CRC penalty area before being unceremoniously
hauled down by Oakley and Danny Phillips dispatched
the spot kick with a firm strike sending Beagle the wrong way.
Both sides produced some excellent football with CRC seeing a fierce volley from
Berry strike the underside of the bar and rebound to safety, The Seasiders then
had a spell of domination without creating a clear cut opening and the points
looked like being shared until a dramatic last three minutes.
Alan Mills replaced Dwayne Edwards in the 86th minute and his first touch came
when he collected Joe Bloomfield’s long clearance and laid it into
Phillips' path, the Seasiders striker set himself
before doing what he does best and sending an unstoppable effort beyond Beagle
into the top corner of the net from the angle of the penalty area.
The drama wasn’t over as the referees watch moved past the 90 minute mark, CRC
threw bodies forward and Nash caught Marriot inside the area with referee Mr.
Hipwell immediately pointing to the spot with little complaint from the home
side, but Danny Crump made amends for his earlier error as he guessed right and
went to his right to turn away McAuley’s spot kick.
It was a high tension end to an excellent game and three much needed points to lift the Seasiders out of the bottom three.

Round Replay
Felixstowe & Walton United
0 - 1 Holbeach United (0-1)
The Tigers were determined not to return home empty handed from their long mid-week
journey to the East coast and fully deserved to advance to the second round
where they will play fellow United Counties Premier side Raunds Town.
The only goal of the game came on 22 minutes when Cartright was brought down and
Matthew Wakefield scored from the penalty spot.
Felixstowe failed to create the opportunities, which were a feature of
Saturday's game, with Danny Crump preventing Holbeach increasing their lead with
a number of fine saves.
Seasiders: Crump, Ellwood, Betson, Frost (Calver 72), Bell,
Nash, Bloomfield, Grimwood (Drury 82), Phillips, Claydon, Edwards.
Unused Subs: Childs, Hollis, Mills.
Tigers - Doughty, Coupland, Jackson, Patterson, Elston,
Nichols, Joof, Warfield, Orrey (Allen 80), Nimmo (Piper) Cartwright (Treacher
80) .
Unused Subs: Keeble
Referee: Mr S Essex
Few changes from Saturday's starting line ups with Nash
replacing Mills for the Seasiders and Coupland & Patterson replacing Thompson &
Hussey in the Tigers team.
Joof fired into the side netting as the visitors started strongly with Nicholls
shooting wide following an early corner. Bloomfield went close at the far post
following Edward's deep cross from the left and Doughty was down quickly to make
a comfortable save from Edwards as the Seasiders enjoyed a brief spell on the
attack, but it was the home goal that came under the greatest pressure.
Nicholls' goal-bound shot was blocked on the Felixstowe goal line following a succession of corners and the pressure finally told on 22 minutes when Frost's late challenge felled Cartwright and Matthew Warfield stepped up to fire a low show to Crump's right for the only goal of the game.
Felixstowe's first corner came on the half hour but the Holbeach back line continued to be first to the ball and cleared easily. Frost brought a comfortable save from Doughty as the Seasiders pressed to the half time whistle with Holbeach deservedly holding the advantage at the interval.
An expected gear shift after the interval from the home side did not
materialise with Crump in the home goal kept busy producing an excellent save to deny Orrey shortly after the restart.
Nicholls' shot was blocked for a corner, Bell was quickly in to prevent Orrey
from gaining a clear strike on goal and Crump once again saved from Nimmo's shot
at the expense of a corner as Holbeach controlled the game.
The Tiger's defence was rarely troubled by a lacklustre home attack until, with
only a single goal advantage, they came through a nervous four minutes of added time as Felixstowe belatedly forced a succession of corners with a shot
blocked on the line and Doughty making his first serious save of the game.
The better team on the night, Holbeach, resisted the late home charge to
deservedly progress to the second round.
We wish The Tigers well in the next round.
Saturday 4th October 2008
- F.A. Vase - 1st Round
Holbeach United 1 - 1 Felixstowe & Walton United
aet (0-0)
The Seasiders created enough opportunities to win the game handsomely but in the
end were thankful for an own-goal to take the tie to a replay.
Liam Nimmo pictured right scored for the Tigers twenty minutes
from the end of normal time and after Claydon's 'goal' was ruled out for offside
with ten minutes remaining it looked like Nimmo's goal would decide the game
until a deflected clearance levelled the score and took the game to extra time.
Both sides had chances to close out the tie, but it's all back to Dellwood
Avenue on Tuesday evening.
Seasiders: Crump, Ellwood, Betson, Frost (Calver 76), Bell, Mills, Bloomfield, Grimwood,
Phillips, Claydon (Childs 102), Edwards.
Unused Subs: Smith, Hollis.
Tigers - Doughty, Thompson, Jackson, Hussey, Elston, Joof
(Allen 118min), Nichols, Warfield, Cartwright, Orrey (Piper 75min), Nimmo.
Unused Subs: Patterson, Coupland, S.Keeble
Referee: Mr M Shaw
Steve Potts named an unchanged side for the trip into Lincolnshire to play the
Tigers of Holbeach and
will be disappointed that chances created could not be
turned into goals, due in no small part to excellent keeping from James Doughty
in the home goal.
The home side started brightly exerting early pressure but Doughty was
the first
keeper in action making a comfortable save from Bloomfield before a double save
from Phillips on ten minutes.
Crump comfortably held Cartright's free kick on 14 minutes as the tigers pressed
and following a positive run from the impressive Orrey no home forward was on
hand to convert his ball as it flew across the Felixstowe goal.
Frost and Phillips both went close for the Seasiders and Claydon with just
Doughty to beat pushed his
shot wide of
the far post as Felixstowe finished the half strongly.
Against the wind Felixstowe made ground down the flanks with Bloomfield and
Edwards providing a number of openings for Phillips who continued to find
Doughty in excellent form when on target.
The home side created a number of opportunities with Crump saving from Jackson
and quickly out to deny Orrey before Liam Nimmo
turned the ball home on 70 minutes.
Felixstowe pressed forward for a reply and, after Doughty had saved shots from
Bloomfield and
Phillips, Claydon forced the ball home only to be denied by an Assistant's flag.
Warkfield was shown a second yellow for a foul on Edwards but despite going to
ten men the Tigers would have increased their lead but for Danny Crump's double
save to keep out Nimmo.
With two minutes remaining the pressure finally tolled when Jackson looked to clear the ball under pressure from Phillips only for the ball to cannon off Elston into the goal, despite Jackson's efforts to keep it out, pictured right.
Into extra time and with both teams going for the win Crump saved from Piper and Doughty kept his team in the competition pushing Phillip's shot onto the post and at the final whistle is was still all square and back to Felixstowe for a replay on Tuesday evening.
Tuesday 30th September 2008 - Ridgeons League Cup - Preliminary Round
Tiptree United
0 - 2 Felixstowe & Walton United (0-0)
Second half goals from Joe Bloomfield and
Danny Phillips capped an excellent all round
performance from the Seasiders as they recorded their first clean sheet of the
season. Both teams contributed to an entertaining end to end cup tie with the
finishing of the visitors the deciding factor.
Seasiders: Crump, Ellwood, Betson, Frost, Bell, Mills, Bloomfield, Grimwood,
Phillips, Claydon, Edwards.
Unused Subs: Childs, Smith.
Tiptree United: Benstead, Watson, Murfett, Shade, Manning, Townron, Ward
(Lay 70), Coleman, Arlick, English (Stopher 78), Wraight.
Unused subs: White, Coe, Rochester.
Referee: Mr M Patterson
Attendance: 42
Danny Phillips was welcomed back to a starting line up which included Under 18
player Alex Ellwood on his debut.
A lively start on a good surface saw an opportunity created in both areas in the
first minute. Home keeper Benstead was well behind Phillip's early strike and
Watson saw his rising shot clear the Felixstowe bar. Both sides played neat
football to feet and both enjoyed good spells of pressure but increasingly
Felixstowe imposed themselves on the game with Edward's pace unsettling the home
defence.
Bloomfield and Ellwood linked well down the right with Benstead saving well to
deny Claydon on the turn and was bravely off his line colliding with Edwards and
both players required treatment but happily were able to continue.
Watson headed over the Felixstowe as the home side enjoyed a series of corners
but it was the home keeper who was the busier down well to the feet of Phillips
and saving from Edward's shot as the half drew to a close.
Just before the hour following good build up from Felixstowe involving Frost and
Grimwood Joe Bloomfield advanced into the area and
his low drive from 14 yards deflected past Benstead for the opening goal.
Stopher went closest for Tiptree as his well flighted header flew past the far
post following a corner from the right.
Felixstowe doubled the lead on 70 minutes as Grimwood cut in from the right and
slid the ball through the home back four to Danny Phillips
who fired home from 12 yards.
Tiptree fought hard for a reply but the Felixstowe defence resolutely held on to
their first clean sheet of the season to advance to the next round.
Saturday 27th September 2008 - Ridgeons League Premier
Division
Lowestoft Town 5 - 2 Felixstowe & Walton United (0-1)
Few will be
surprised by the score-line from Crown Meadow this afternoon but the Blues will
have feared for their unbeaten league record as the hard working Seasiders held
a 2-0 lead after 53 minutes thanks to Crump's acrobatics and goals from
Edwards and Grimwood.
The advantage was not enjoyed by the travelling fans in the large crowd for long
as the home side powered forward in numbers with Cockrill
netting from the penalty and Godbold bringing the
sides level on the hour. Cockrill completed
his hat-trick, his last again from the spot, after Poppy
had scored the fourth direct from a corner.
Seasiders: Crump, Hollis (Childs 78), Mills, Frost, Bell, Nash, Bloomfield, Grimwood,
Edwards, Claydon, Betson.
Unused Sub: Drury.
Lowestoft Town: Reynolds, Poppy, Marsden, Woodrow, Saunders, Cockrill,
Godbold, King, Stock, McKenna, Hunn (High 45)
Unused Subs: Cockrill, Blowers, Lewis, Lovelock
Referee: Mr A Tyne
Attendance: 465
Edwards and Nash were welcomed into the Seasider's starting line up with Hollis
retaining his place
after a good debut game on Wednesday.
In front of a large expectant home crowd the Blues attacked from the start
winning successive corners with Stock heading over the bar, McKenna's
fierce shot blocked and King's header cleared off the line in the opening
minutes. Danny Crump was being kept busy in the
Felixstowe
and made a number of fine saves in quick succession from King, Stock, Godbold,
Woodrow and Poppy.
With Lowestoft failing to score despite repeated attempts the visitors gained in
confidence and began to create chances of their own with Reynolds quickly out of
his area to clear the danger from Claydon and got finger tips to Edward's goal
bound effort t
o
clear the ball over the bar for a corner.
Crump pulled off another spectacular save to deny Woodrow and when McKenna did
beat the young Felixstowe keeper the ball cannoned back off a post and the
danger cleared.
Duane Edwards posed a continuing threat on the
break and on the half hour gave the Seasiders the lead finishing a searing run
down the right with a shot that Reynolds could not hold.
Reynolds saved from Claydon from Edward's cross as the half drew to a close but
it was the home who were left wondering how after creating so many chances found
themselves behind at the break.
Reynolds
saved well low to his right to deny Claydon straight after the interval as
Felixstowe continued to look dangerous on the break and despite Lowestoft's
dominance with Woodrow and Godbold both going close it was Felixstowe who
doubled their lead on 53 minutes. The ever dangerous Edwards fired the ball in
from the
left with David Grimwood following up to beat
Reynolds from close range.
A shock looked on the cards but the less than a minute later Mills bundled Stock
over in the area allowing Darren Cockrill to step
up and strike the ball home. A sense of foreboding fell upon the
travelling faithful as the large
home support
got behind their favourites. Less than five minutes later it was all square as
Jamie Godbold cut in from the left and completed a
good run with a low shot.
Hough who had come off the bench at half time had a major impact on the home
side's second half performance and when his shot was saved by Crump
Darren Cockrill was on hand to turn home the
rebound. Reynolds saved from Claydon's header before Carl
Poppy scored the home sides fourth direct from a corner with ten minutes
remaining. Darren Cockrill completed his hat-trick
from the penalty spot after Hough was brought down by Crump as he dived for the
ball.
Felixstowe will be disappointed to have surrendered a two goal lead but there
were many positive aspects to build on in the coming games.
Wednesday 24th September 2008 - Ridgeons League Premier
Division
Walsham-le-Willows 4 - 1 Felixstowe & Walton United
Strong performances from Jake Hollis and James Rodwell on their 1st Team debuts
this evening
were positives to take away from a game that once again saw too many defensive
lapses despite a good share of possession for the Seasiders.
Seasiders: Crump, Hollis, Drury, Frost, Bell, Mills,
Rodwell (Childs 64), Bloomfield, Claydon, Grimwood, Betson.
Walsham le Willows: Bug, Sim, Hazelton (Musgrove 18), Birch, Newman,
Partridge, Attwood, Ross, Holder (Nocton 80), Tatham, Cusack.
Unused Subs: Brown, Luxford
Referee: Mr G. Sandell
Attendance: 48
With a number of 1st Team regulars unavailable Steve Potts took the opportunity
to give experience to a number of promising young reserve team players, and they
did not disappoint.
After a bright start the visitors found themselves two goals down inside ten
minutes as the Walsham forwards were given too much time on the ball. Tatham
created space on the right and his cross to the far post was slotted into the
net from close range by Andrew Cusack. Less than a
minute later Cusack returned the compliment with a cross from the left for
James Tatham to head home unchallenged and gain control
for the home team, which
they rarely looked like relinquishing.
Birch headed over from Attwood's cross as the home looked like they might run
away with the game but Felixstowe steadied the ship with Grimwood and Frost
working hard for the ball in midfield and Bloomfield and Betson making ground
down the flanks. The Seasiders first shot on target came on 28 minutes with Bugg
saving well down to his left to deny Grimwood, but he could do little to prevent
Paul Betson's rising volley from 22 yards going
into the net at the angle of post of bar.
On the stroke of half time Bugg saved from Frost and was happy to see Frost's
follow up shot clear the bar as the home side ended the half with a goal
advantage.
Claydon and Grimwood combined well after the restart with Grimwood's shot
scrambled away for a corner. The pace and movement of Tatham and Holder
continued to concern the visiting defence and on 57 minutes
Tatham was first to a long ball down the left and
turned inside the defence to drill home his second of the evening.
Ash Childs almost made an immediate impact as he came off the bench mid way
through the half. Making ground into the right hand side of the Walsham area he
placed his shot low and wide of Bugg only to see the ball strike the inside of
the far post role back along goal-line and spin past the opposite post for a
goal kick.
There was flurry of yellow cards as the game lost it's shape until
James Attwood made the points secure with
Walsham's fourth five minutes from time following Musgrove's cross into the
danger area.
Bell cleared off the line to deny substitute Musgrove as the home side finished
strongly.
Saturday 20th September 2008 - F.A. Vase 2nd
Round Qualifying
Felixstowe & Walton United 4 - 3 Whitton United (3-2)
Warm sunshine, a local derby, seven goals and the best burgers in East Anglia -
what more could you want on a Saturday afternoon. Kindest thing to say is that
both sides looked happier going forward rather than defending, but the home
spectators went home happy having been well entertained and with a trip
to Lincolnshire and Holbeach United in the next Round to look forward to on
Saturday 4th October.

SEASIDERS: Crump, Bloomfield, Drury, Frost, Mills, Bell, Edwards

With both sides having a less than auspicious start to the season this match
offered the opportunity of progression in a national competition with the
distant dream of Wembley Stadium the ultimate goal but with the more immediate
possibility of a place in the first round proper and a cash boost for the
winners.
It was a frenetic first half with the spectators treated to 5 goals, a missed
penalty and some poor defending from both sides that would have left both
managers less than impressed with their teams defensive performance. The
Seasiders established an early lead when Dwayne Edwards
collected the ball midway in the Whitton half pictured left and was allowed to run
through unchallenged to slot the ball under Beal with just 6 minutes on the
clock, it was a boost for the home side with Dwayne making his first start of
the season after collecting an injury in a pre-season friendly and stamp his
mark on the game so early.
With both defences looking decidedly uncomfortable play
moved from end to end
with Camfer firing over the Seasiders bar from the edge of the area and Chris
Williams forcing a corner with a dangerous run and cross in the 11th minute that
the Seasiders struggled to clear.
It proved to be Whitton’s best spell of the match and in the 22nd minute they
were level through veteran player/manager Gary Thompson
who turned the ball past Crump from close range in a packed goalmouth as
the Seasiders failed to clear a free kick pictured right.
The Seasiders had the chance to quickly re-establish their advantage when Andy
Claydon missed a penalty in the 22nd min. It looked a harsh
decision when David Grimwood was halted inside the area by Tom Trevivian but Ryan Beal
guessed correctly as he dived to his right to turn away Claydon’s well struck
spot kick.
Having spurned the opportunity the goal did come on the half hour
when the
Seasiders regained the lead with Whitton guilty of poor marking that allowed
Gerrard Nash to link with Claydon who set up Gavin Frost
who was left with an empty net in front of him to tap home with his right foot.
The home side then scored twice in 90 seconds with a goal at each end, Sean Bell
attempting to clear hooked the ball into his own goal in the 36th minute as the
home side made a hash of clearing the danger in a packed goalmouth allowing the
visitors to level matters for a second time but within 30 seconds of the restart
Joe Bloomfield collected the ball just inside the
Whitton half and made ground
down the right before cutting in to restore the
lead with classy finish.
The second half was a much calmer affair with the Steve Potts side taking
control of the majority of the play and stretching the Whitton defence, finding
a way through in the 63rd min. when Andy
Claydon
met Dwayne Edwards cross to head past Beal although the Whitton ‘keeper almost
pulled off a remarkable save. It was the first time in the game the Seasiders
established a two goal cushion and they should have extended that gap on at
least four occasions when they outnumbered the home defence but the failed to
take the chances and were happy to see Whitton’s fourth goal come with virtually
the last touch of the match.
Former Dellwood Avenue favourite Shaun Curtis came
on with 15 minutes left for a cameo appearance and he met a 90th minute corner
to reduce the deficit but from the restart referee Mr Kelly blew the final
whistle to see the Seasiders through to the 1st round proper.

Felixstowe & Walton United 0 - 3 Wivenhoe Town (0-1)
Wivenhoe Town maintained their three point lead at the top of the table
with a comfortable win at Dellwood Avenue. Keeper Danny Crump starred for the
home side as he kept the score-line to a respectable level.
SEASIDERS: Crump, Turley, Betson, Frost, Howlett (Nash 51), Bell,
Bloomfield, Rayner, Philips, Grimwood, Edward (Claydon 66).
Unused Subs: Milbourne, Mills
Wivenhoe Town: Rutherford, Churchyard, Kerigan, Nightingill, Coyle, Goddard,
Blake ( May 60), Simpson (Sargent 74), Underwood (Hampson 83), England, Collins.
Unused subs: Bell, Wootten.
REFEREE: Mr L Betts
Att: 131
Both
sides threatened in the opening minutes with Rutherford in the Wivenhoe goal
saving from Grimwwod at the expense of a corner and Bloomfield clearing off the
Felixstowe line to deny Collins.
Lee Underwood lively from the start opened the
scoring after seven minutes. Having beaten the off side trap Underwood was
forced down to the bye line but forced his way back infield and from a tight
angle slid the ball home at the near post.
The movement of Blake, Underwood and England threatened to open up the home defence before the Seasiders enjoyed a spell of pressure with Edwards' dangerous cross cleared off the Wivenoe line for a corner. Crump excelled in holding Collins' rising drive and the visitors maintained control without increasing their lead to the interval.
The lead was doubled shortly after the break with Churchyard breaking forcefully
from defence down the right. England's initial shot was blocked but
Sam Collins made no mistake with a rasping shot low
to Crump's left.
Felixstowe went in search of a reply with Betson, Rayner and Phillips all going
close without severely testing Rutherford in the the Wivenhoe. In contrast Danny
Crump produced a succession of fine saves to deny Underwood and England but even
he was unable to prevent Jamie England from
confirming the win ten minutes from time as he drove the ball into the roof of
the net from Underwood's cross.

Felixstowe & Walton United 1 - 3 Kirkley & Pakefield
(0-1)
An improved performance from the Seasiders but the visitors were to prove too
strong in the second half and deservedly went on to record their third
successive league win.
The game was marred by a serious injury sustained by Kirkley's Bodie Carter who
was taken by Ambulance to Hospital with a suspected broken leg. We all wish
Bodie well and hope he is back playing again soon.
SEASIDERS: Crump, Bloomfield, Betson, Nash, Bell, Howlett, Rayner
(Edwards 89), Calver, Philips, Claydon, Grimwood (Frost 87).
Unused Subs: Milbourne, Mills, Turley
KIRKLEY & PAKEFIELD: Pauling, DeCoteau , Blois (Hunter 85), Jefford, Cole,
Dawson, Highfield (Savell 90), Carter (Hunter 62), Stone, Henderson, Gilman.
REFEREE: Mr M Sanerude
Att: 102
It
was a case of what might have been once more as the Seasiders made a bright
start but faded in the closing stages. Both sides produced high quality football
for an hour before the visitors took control in a game marred by 18 year old
Bodie Carter being stretchered off with a broken leg. The home side had the
better of the opening half although Kirkley had the better of the chances
spurning two glorious openings from inside the six yard box.
With the strong swirling wind at their backs the visitors started brightly and
Danny Crump had to get down quickly to turn away Carter's 20 yard effort in the
2nd minute. The Seasiders quickly replied and Highfield headed off the line to
prevent the Seasiders taking an early lead.
Having had good possession without threatening the Seasiders were twice caught
by quick breaks when Henderson got away down the left to deliver a dangerous
cross into the six yard box that Gilman met but rifled over the bar in the 11th
minute.
Grimwood was
inches wide of an empty net in the 28 minute when Pauling was caught off his
line as the Seasiders midfielder struck his effort from just two yards inside
the Kirkley half only to watch it go agonisingly wide of the target.
Gilman again squandered a glorious chance in the 33rd minute from inside the six
yard box but a minute later the visitors took the lead. Midweek signing Gerard
Nash had been influential in the early play on his debut with a couple of slide
rule passes but was the guilty party that led to the opening goal. Collecting a
short goal kick from Crump on the edge of the area he was caught in possession
and dispossessed by Gilman and Paul Highfield
slotted the ball into an empty net to give the visitors the advantage at the
break.
Two minutes into the second half it was all square Grimwood and Nash combined to
set up Danny Phillips
who crashed an unstoppable left foot shot past Pauling from just inside the area
pictured, it was no more than the home side deserved but they failed to
make the most of their momentum as Kirkley and Pakefield stepped up a gear.
Crump had to produce a double save to deny Kirkley then save from Cole in the
57th minute as the home defence were stretched and in the 61st minute Kirkley
regained the lead t
hrough
Nathan Stone who reacted quickest as the ball fell
loose, collecting it and running into the home area to guide his shot wide of
Crump pictured.
A minute later what looked a harmless clash as Bodie Carter was challenged
midway in the Seasiders half saw the game
continue until a Felixstowe attack broke down and Pauling threw the ball into
touch. Carter remained grounded and was stretchered off waiting for an ambulance
with a suspected fractured leg.
The game restarted after a ten minute break with the visitors continuing in
charge and in the 77th minute a clash between DeCoteau & Calver ended with both
players collecting yellow cards which was to prove to be expensive for Calver.
Kirkley made the points safe in the 80th Minute when Chris
Henderson collected the ball wide on the left and rode three challenges
to surge into the area and fire under Crump to make it a miserable afternoon for
the home side, added to in the 82nd minute when Calver tracked substitute Hunter
and both players went down with Calver receiving a second yellow.

Norwich United
3 - 0 Felixstowe & Walton United
(1-0)
The Seasider's poor return from visits to Plantation Park continued
today as the home side deservedly recorded their first league win of the season
against a lack lustre Felixstowe team. Quantrill in the Norwich goal was
rarely troubled while the visiting keeper Crump was kept busy throughout.
Seasiders: Danny Crump, Joe Bloomfield, Jamie Drury (Terry
Rayner 72), Gavin
Frost, Sean Bell, Alan Mills, Paddy Turley (Keith Hetherington 69), David Grimwood,
Danny Philips, Andy Claydon, Paul Betson
Unused sub: Chris Howlett.
Planters: Daniel Quantrill, Steve Shipley, Duane Eastall, Warren Preston,
Craig Roberts, Adam Fergusson, Craig Vincent, Lee Howlett, Shaun Bammon (Craig
Beedon 80), Ben Soanes (Seb Muddel 66), Nathan Page
Unused subs: Ben Godddard, Martin Goulder, George Brooks
Ref: Mr. Paul Barnes
The only
change to Tuesday's line up for the Seasiders was the inclusion of Paddy Turley
for Liam Scopes who transferred to Woodbridge Town this week. If Tuesday's
defeat was as a result of failing to convert the numerous chances created the
same could not be said today with the Planters goalkeeper a virtual spectator
for much of the game.
On a warm sunny day on a good surface both teams passed the ball around neatly
in the early stages without progressing too far into
the opposition half. Gradually Norwich started to test the visiting defence with
Howlett producing a save from Crump and Roberts shooting wide of the Felixstowe
goal.
On 19 minutes Lee Howlett dispossessed last
defender Mills close to the half way line before making ground unchallenged to
lift the ball over the advanced Felixstowe keeper for the opening goal.
Felixstowe
responded with a spell of pressure and consecutive corners with Quantrill saving
well to deny Claydon and maintain the lead to the break. Norwich finished the
half strongly with Crump off his line quickly to deny Eastall, Howlett placing
his free kick just wide and Soanes heading over from Shipley's cross. Bloomfield
and Turley linked well down the right for Felixstowe in a first half performance
that was well below par overall.
Felixstowe failed to raise their game after the break with Norwich taking
control following a second
goal five minutes into the second half. Crump was down well to deny Soanes but
when Eastall fired the ball back into a busy area he could do little to prevent
the ball from flashing into the net with Nathan Page
claiming the last touch.
Making a double save Crump pictured denied Page as the
planters
confidence increased and they produced a number of further opportunities running
through a static Felixstowe defence.
In a rare Felixstowe attack Phillips did well to outpace the home defence and
draw the keeper but his ball across the goal line was easily cleared without
pressure from any other Felixstowe forwards.
Crump saved from Eastall and Roberts rose unchallenged to head over the
Felixstowe bar from Shipley's corner as the Planters went hunting for more
goals. Page ran unchallenged through the Felixstowe defence with Crump saving
again before Seb Muddel fired home the third goal
pictured for a more realistic score-line seconds before the final
whistle.

With Kirkley the visitors on Saturday and top of the table Wivenhoe at Dellwood Avenue the following Tuesday we can expect a busy week on the training ground !!

Felixstowe & Walton United 0 - 1 Woodbridge Town (0-1)
Following a bright start to the game for both sides
Craig Stuart's goal for the visitors on 10 minutes looked like it may be
the first of many,
but it proved to be the winner as the youthful Woodbridge side had the
better of the first half and Rose in the Woodpeckers goal kept the Seasiders at
bay in the second period.
Seasiders: Danny Crump, Joe Bloomfield, Jamie Drury, Gavin
Frost, Sean Bell, Alan Mills, Liam Scopes (Paddy Turley 69), David Grimwood,
Danny Philips, Andy Claydon, Paul Betson
Unused subs: Keith Hetherington, Chris Howlett.
Woodpeckers: Gary Rose, Robbie Smythe, Ben Miller, Liam Jennings, Mark

Unused sub: Danny Tatum
Ref: Mr. R Beevor
Scopes in for the absent Rayner was the only change to Saturday's winning
formation for the visit of
Woodbridge.
Both sides looked better going forward than defending with the young Woodbridge
side playing fast expansive football on a surface that suited their style of
play. In a bright opening spell Crump denied Kempson at his near post and Rose
save well to keep out Phillips at the expense of a corner as the game flowed
from end to end.
Read's free kick from the left of the area was headed goal-wards by Miller on
ten minutes with Craig Stuart making sure the ball
crossed the line at the far post to record what turned out to be the only goal
of the game.
Phillips, Betson and Frost all went close for the Seasiders but it was the
movement of Woodbridge that impressed in the first half with Seaman going close
on a number of occasions.
Felixstowe exerted pressure as the half drew to a close with Rose producing a
low save to deny Phillips, and Rose was helped by the angle of post and bar as
Phillip's free kick cannoned back off the woodwork on the stroke of half time.
Rose was kept busy in the second period parrying Frost's fierce shot onto the
bar and again denying Phillip's at the cost of a corner within five minutes of
the restart. Saves from Betson and Phillips followed but Woodbridge threatened
on the break with Seaman firing over when well placed from O'Neil's cross.
O'Neil headed Betson's shot wide for a corner as the Seasiders threw everything
into an equaliser and in the final minute keeper Crump went forward and his
header from Betson's corner was cleared off the line as the final whistle blew.

Ling's Lynn Res. 1 - 2 Felixstowe & Walton United
(0-2)
The Seasiders bounced back from FA Cup disappointment with a league
win at the Walks on Saturday. Goals from Andy Claydon
and Danny Phillips put the Seasiders two goals
ahead at the break but they were pleased to hear the final whistle after
Simon Deadman equalised for the Linnets in the
second period.
KING'S LYNN: Norris, Harvey, Bush (Palmer 73), Deadman,
Fiddy, Hyde, Fell (Vincent 18), Kelly (Buhlemann 63), Harper, Dwyer, Calvert,
FELIXSTOWE & WALTON: Crump, Bloomfield, Drury (Turley 38), Frost, Bell,
Mills, Rayner (Hetherington 84), Grimwood, Phillips, Claydon, Betson (Scopes
79).
Referee: Mr N.A. Smith (Bourne)
Steve Potts' side should have wrapped the points up before the home side came
back strongly late in the match and in the end they were pleased to leave the
Walks with all three points.
Hyde collected an early yellow card for a foul on David Grimwood in the 7th min.
and Terry Rayner sent the resulting free kick just over the home bar, but 4
minutes later Jamie Drury found Danny Phillips who played
Andy Claydon into space and he calmly lifted the ball over the advancing
Norris from the edge of the area to give the Seasiders the early advantage.
Rayner headed wide from Phillips cross in the 14th minute and at the other end
Alan Mills cleared off the line from Hyde as the home side created their first
opening. 18th min. Substitute Vincent, replacing Fell, made an immediate impact
creating an opening but firing wide with Crump stranded and the diminutive
player continued to pose the biggest threat from the home side throughout the
remainder of the game.
Paul Betson was just too high from a cleared corner in the 18th minute and two
minutes later the Seasiders doubled their lead when a clumsy challenge by Bush
upended Terry Rayner inside the area and Danny Phillips
stepped up to despatch the resultant penalty.
The Seasiders goalscorer should have done better before the break but fired over
while Vincent rattled the Felixstowe & Walton crossbar with a rising volley in
the 34th minute.
Jamie Drury became the second early casualty when he limped off in the 38th
minute to be replaced by Paddy Turley with Steve Potts putting Joe Bloomfield
into the left back berth with Turley on the right and the defender made a couple
of surging runs down the right forcing a corner that the home side cleared under
pressure.
Looking solid at the break the Seasiders found a much more determined home side
in the second half and Danny Crump produced a fine save to deny Vincent in the
54th minute but was left stranded as the Seasiders defence failed to clear a
loose ball in the 56th minute and Simon Deadman
drilled the ball in to the net.
Porky Claydon created and squandered a couple of good openings, after twice
turning his marker midway through the second half, that would have wrapped up
the points and it was left to Danny Crump to pull off two fine late saves to
deny Harper on both occasions as the Linnets finished the game in charge with
Kelly heading just wide of the target in the 2nd minute of time added on.
Saturday 16th August 2008 - F.A. Cup Extra Preliminary Round
Mildenhall Town 8 (eight) v 0 Felixstowe & Walton United
(3-0)
The home side swept the Seasiders aside with ease as they progressed to the next
round of the FA Cup. Felixstowe were competitive for 20 minutes and had a couple
of well worked chances to take the lead but after
Stands fired home Mildenhall's opener the opposition evaporated allowing
Mildenhall's mobile forwards to strike at will.

Felixstowe & Walton: Danny Crump, Joe Bloomfield

Following Tuesday night's
league win over Stanway Rovers Steve Potts named a unchanged side for the FA Cup
visit to Mildenhall, who had scored 12 goals in their opening two league
fixtures. The Seasiders
do not have
a very good record at Mildenhall or in the opening round of the FA Cup but
confidence was high among the travelling faithful that the experience in the
squad would enable a change in fortune.
Both sides created early chances but failed to capitalise with Stands heading just over the Felixstowe bar from Spriggs' corner on seven minutes and then turning the ball wide of a post two minutes later. Harris headed wide from Sprigg's dangerous cross before Phillips placed his shot wide of the Mildenhall goal following good build up play from Rayner and Claydon. Marshall in the home goal denied Phillips twice before Stands fired the home side ahead with a shot at Crump's near post pictured just before the 20 minute mark.
The home defence did it's job
and blocked Frost's free kick pictured after Claydon had been fouled
and Claydon failed to make contact with Phillip's cross from the right as
Felixstowe threatened to equalise. Calver fired over when well placed following
another good move from Felixstowe, but having spurned these chances the Seasiders
were not to create another chance throughout the game following the home sides
second. Eight minutes from the break Paytner was pushed i
n
the area and Robbie Harris stepped up to fire home
from the spot kick.
Felixstowe needed to hold on to the break but failed to do so as another cross
from the right was allowed to run through to Owen Payner
who chested home the decisive third with seconds remaining to the half time
whistle pictured.
Any hopes of a second half
come back were extinguished within 50 seconds of the restart as
Owen Paynter steered the ball over the advanced
Felixstowe keeper.
The visiting defence had no answer to the movement and swift passing of the home
side who continued to apply pressure and score at regular intervals.
Stephen Spriggs scored the fifth from Harris' pass
and substitute Bacon and Alan North combined for
the latter to net the sixth with ten minutes remaining. Three minutes later
North volleyed home the seventh off the underside
of the bar with Chris Bacon completing the rout in
injury time.
We wish Mildenhall well in the next round at Wisbech or Norwich United, with that tie requiring a replay following a 1-1 draw this afternoon at Wisbech.

Felixstowe & Walton United 2 - 1
Stanway Rovers (1-0)
The Seasiders had to ride their luck in the second half when Stanway
were on top but they battled
through to take
all three points from a game marred by a difficult and at times almost gale
force wind.
In a very close encounter Felixstowe held a half time lead thanks to a
header from Neil Calver with Sam Newson equalising for the visitors two minutes
after the break.
Both sides could have won the game in the second period with last seasons Golden
Boot winner Danny Phillips scoring the all important goal to secure the
Seasiders first points of the season.
Felixstowe & Walton: Crump, Bloomfield, Drury (Hetherington 90), Frost,
Bell, Howlett, Rayner, Calver 1, Phillips

Man of the Match: Andy Claydon
Steve Potts
named an unchanged starting line from Saturday’s game and they started well with
Danny Phillips sending a rising volley just over Michael Church’s goal in the 5th
minute after being set up by Andy Claydon. Having had the better of the opening
spell it was no more than they deserved when Neil Calver
headed home at the far post in the 20th minute. Stanway conceded a
free kick midway in there own half and Gavin Frost curled his kick into the
danger area for Neil to finish with a firm header into the roof of the net.
Ben Newson missed the target
from a Stanway free kick in the 26th minute and Danny Crump produced
a top class save to tip Sam Newson’s volley over in the 32nd
minute. Both sides took credit for
working hard in
the elements with Stanway forcing a couple of corners before the break and the
Seasider seeing a flowing move ended by a last gasp tackle at the far post.
Within two minutes of the
restart the visitors were level as a Felixstowe attack came to nothing and
Church sent a long clearance downfield that Sam Newson
collected wide on the left and ran through unchallenged to produce an
excellent finish, it was a disappointing equaliser for Felixstowe as they failed
to close the Stanway front man
down and it gave the visitors the momentum to push forward.
Had they finished better they may well have put the game beyond the Seasiders in a twenty minute spell where Luke Callender was denied by Danny Crump and Ben Newson squandered two excellent chances, failing to hit the target on either occasion. Having weathered the storm Steve Pott's side came back into the game and in the 73rd minute a long clearance from the home defence was collected by Neil Calver to square for Danny Phillips who did what he does best and place the ball wide of Church for what proved to be the winner.
Both sides kept working hard but with no further clear cut openings the home side were happy to get their first win on the board.

Felixstowe & Walton United 1 - 4 Wroxham (1-2)

In contrast to last season's opener, which was played in warm sunshine, the wind
and rain swept across the Town Ground providing a very autumnal feel. The result
however was exactly the same with the Seasiders receiving an early wake up call
to the new season and a 4-1 home defeat. Last season it was Mildenhall who were
the first day visitors and today it was an impressive Wroxham team
who showed why they will once again figure in the title race.

Jamie Drury was welcomed back into the starting line-up following
a lengthy absence through injury, with new signing Terry Rayner pictured left also in an
otherwise familiar looking Felixstowe team.
Wroxham were quickly into their normal flowing attacking style of football and
Paul Cook scored their first goal of the new
campaign with a headed goal from Key's left wing cross after only five minutes.
Felixstowe responded well with Mcanally quickly out of his area to clear the
danger from Phillips pictured right following a quick through ball from Rayner working on the
right of midfield.
A similar move on 20 minutes saw Claydon break through the visiting defence and
this time round
Mcanally. But before he could direct the ball goal-wards Claydon
was tripped from behind by Challon enabling Danny Phillips
to open his tally from the resulting spot kick.
Wroxham continued to switch play from wing to wing and having pulled the home
defence out of alignment once again
Alex Notman was
able to get his shot away from distance and defeat Crump low to his right for
the Yachtsmen's second goal.
With the interval approaching Mcanally turned Claydon's shot
onto a post and at
the other end White saw his rising effort strike the Felixstowe cross-bar as an
entertaining half ended with a marginal lead for the visitors.
Wroxham dominated after the break with Andrew Key
breaking into the Felixstowe area on the left to slot home the third. Crump save
well onto a post to deny Crane before Andrew Key
one again strolled through a static home defence with fifteen minutes remaining
to score his second and the yachtsmen's fourth to confirm the win.
Mcanally was well behind Phillip's well timed shot two minutes from time but
that was to be his only real test of the half and despite strong running down
the flanks from Bloomfield and Rayner the visiting defence was not unduly tested
with Wroxham running out comfortable winners.
A long way to go and Felixstowe will have learned much from today's quality opposition.
